The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Stayed 4 nights in Scotland and found ourselves here for 3 of them. Outside terrace beautiful in the sun with a stunning view of the Main Street. Servers very friendly. Bar is dog friendly too which is great for when it got a bit nippy outside. We ate in the bar one of the nights and the food was delicious, very fresh and sizeable portions.

Irish invasion there last Sunday with our local Scottish cousins. Everything absolutely perfect. Highly recommend the ambiance, food and the service. Amy stole my heart- some brave and inspiring lady. Best of luck for the future Amy🙏🙏

Derby cafe Tubli branch, Nizar is great person who always take your order with kind smile and I meet Moushir there who always ask about my day and try his best to make me feel good, thank you Nizar and Moushir

Popped n for a quick bite to eat whilst the car was being MOT’d. This is a dog friendly place with toilets upstairs! Server at the bar was really very friendly announcing the drinks specials of the day. We ordered food from the specials menu - a main plus starter or a dessert including a drink - £20 for two! With a price like this it would be rude not to have a go. We chose chicken wings in bbq sauce and nachos with all the trimmings. Chicken wings were ok but the nachos were served cold with a salsa, jalapeño and a dirt of cheese flavoured sauce - spices but I wouldn’t take this again. Mains was a fish and chip supper and Cumberland sausages with mash and peas Chips were ok but missing something and the fish was an average piece of fish wrapped in a batter. This was a mass produced fish. Sausages on mash. Mash tasted like it was pre-made smash, very dry. Sausages I think were precooked somewhere and then reheated. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. The food was edible and the server tried very hard to ensure that we were looked after. I think the venue is more a sports bar vs a go to restaurant. I would go back with mate, but if we’re talking romantic evenings I would probably go elsewhere as this is not fine dining.

Excellent food. Beef and ale pie melts in your mouth and the fish was perfect! Then comes dessert. Sticky toffee pudding drizzled with toffee sauce and ice cream from Arran. It is definitely the best I have ever had The restaurant is tucked away in a lovely garden area with lovely views in the summer. Staff are friendly and courteous with an amazing atmosphere. Coming here is a must!

A really warm, beautiful place. Just stopped by for coffee (which was fantastic) but there were some cakes on the bar too good to miss. They start serving lunch at 12, the menu looked interesting, so maybe next time. Also dog friendly.

Lovely lunch, Finished off with a delicious piece of Lemon Meringue Pie. Great place to visit especially on a beautiful sunny day.

What an unexpected treat, has been the culinary highlight of our 7 day campervan trip! A simple lunch but prepared with care and skill (it was only a toasted sandwich but was obviously prepared by a good chef) served by a cheery lass. Great that the Community is now running this Inn.

Lovely, welcoming staff who were all friendly and cheerful which started our evening off well! We all enjoyed our dinner and , even though we’ve visited the pub before, we felt that the welcome we had this time was the best yet!

First visit here, exceptional food, fish & chips were delicious, staff were attentive with quick service, definitely would recommend a visit

As the season narrows, it’s appropriate to say thank you before they have their very well deserved break in January & February. I have been a regular in the restaurant all summer and can’t recommend higher than 5 stars, or I would. Margaret and her team offer the warmest of welcomes, the most special part of that is the authenticity behind it. She has picked the most customer centric team who greet you with a smile, serve fantastic food and represent the castle to the highest possible standard. Thank you and I look forward to next year. We stayed locally and walked 30 mins to this restaurant. It’s a beautiful spot with great views. Unfortunately from the second we walked in, we knew our experience had peaked at the view. The staff- although pleasant, need hospitality training immediately. It was not busy and it took 2 hours for us to get our 2 courses. We had to prompt them for our mains. The food was below average, but after walking all day and there literally being nothing else in walking distance, had no other choice but to accept it and move on. The soup was tasteless, the scampi was overcooked, also tasteless with very thick dry chips. My partner had the steak, supposed to be rare but was overcooked. Having eaten at lots of places, this is hands down the worst we’ve had ever. The manager accepted our feedback and gave us a discount which was good but we would rather of had a decent meal on our Easter weekend break. Next time we’ll just get a taxi into Oban.

En realidad estoy haciendo esta revisión para agradecer a todo el maravilloso personal que nos ayudó este domingo pasado cuando mi padre tuvo un derrame cerebral durante el almuerzo, fueron fantásticos todos ellos y especialmente la señora rubia que también me dio un abrazo (muy apreciado) solo para hacerles saber que todavía está en el hospital, pero está bien, y estoy seguro de que volveremos a verlos a todos pronto un montón de abrazos de vuelta a usted Claire Ewen ... por cierto el almuerzo fue como de costumbre encantador!
