Drinks one visit, delicious meal the next. Besides the great food and service on our visits, I lost my glasses there and didn't realise until I got home. Not only did the Ormidale staff find my glasses, they also took the time to phone and let me know and post them to me. Above and beyond. We would highly recommend The Ormidale for its service, atmosphere, food and after care of careless customers! Thank you.

We visited Sunday afternoon on recommendation of a friendly Brodick local. Friendly greeting and helpful staff. Nice pint of local Arran Blonde in the sunny orangery. And able to take the dog in too. Food was really nice and portions were big , which are always appreciated. Most of the mains were around the £15 mark so felt like decent value. Glad we stumbled across this place, really enjoyed our meal and visit - thank you!

When first entering the bar the smell was awful. Like the smell of years worth of smoke had been engrained into the woodwork. The tables were an awful shape and not ideal to eat on and the chairs were uncomfortable. Don't try and get into one if your slightly bigger like me. I sat at the window bench as it was all I could be comfy on and I had an awful draught on my back. I propped 2 pillow behind me to stop the coldness. The paper was hanging off the walls, there was mold and cobwebs everywhere. The music was awful. The menu was a printed piece of paper stuck onto an old record sleeve. We didn't hold out much hope. However the food was first class. 5 stars and totally worth every penny. Shame about the smell and the setting. I would maybe take away from here but not sit in again.

Visited the Ormidale for both food and drinks whilst here on Arran. It’s a lovely big cosy place with friendly staff welcoming locals / visitors alike. The food is good pub grub. There’s not many places offer simple tasty evening meals like this in Brodick - a few pricey a la carte restaurants, but options for reasonably priced fish & chips or burgers are limited, so the Ormidale is definitely the place to come for this! Lots of things going on (Quiz, Disco, Live Music) so well worth it visit.

Went tonight for an evening meal with family and I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. The place was filthy! Cobwebs everywhere, floor disgusting, tables dirty and there was a horrible smell. I ordered the steak pie and when it arrived there was a dead fly on it! I said to the waitress who took the dish away only to return a few minutes later with the same plate minus the fly. Now the food was freezing cold. When we went to pay for the dinner, I was charged for the steak and fly pie and I said I wasn’t happy about being charged for a meal that I couldn’t eat. The waitress responded with an attitude saying ‘why, because there was a fly on it?’. Dreadful service. Definitely somewhere I won’t return to!

On recent Sunday afternoon visited Ormidale Hotel, Brodick to find drunk local man had pinned a female against the entrance door and was loudly abusing her with disgusting sexist and swearing language. He then challenged other people in the beer garden to fight, including elderly pensioner and child.Although other customers were alarmed and started to leave the premises, the bar staff who were only a few feet away from this bully, did nothing to stop him. Comments were heard that 'he is always like that, just ignore him'.NO! NO! NO! This was like something out of the caveman days with a neanderthal man creating unacceptable havoc. If you want your female friends and relatives to suffer sexist and physical bullying, then this is the place to go! If you want elderly people and children to be facing abuse and physical assault, then the Ormidale Hotel is the place for you!FOR DECENT PEOPLE - AVOID THE ORMIDALE LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!The landlord here obviously doesn't care much for his licence. *** The 'Arran Hard Man' was mid twenties, 5'10', stocky, with fair hair. We chose this venue for the last night of our family holiday, there were 12 of us, after me and my wife had checked it out earlier in the week. The menu and range of drinks were very impressive and we were allocated a long table in the conservatory which could accommodate us all comfortably and we had the room to ourselves. The service was excellent to start with and the food was fabulous. We were all looking forward to deserts especially the children but then there was a long wait after we had finished our mains with no one coming back to our table. In the end we went looking for a member of staff so we could order desert only to be told they had closed the kitchen! It was only 9.00pm (on a Friday night)and no one had come to tell us that it was closing. I have never had this experience before in a restaurant. "Kinder und Hunde erwünscht" so stellt sich das Ormidale u.a. auf einem Schild in Brodick vor. Tatsächlich waren wir mit unsem kleinen Baby in der Bar willkommen und ein zwei Hunde rekelten sich auf dem Teppich zwischen den authentischen Ambiente.

The Ormidale Hotel is one of Brodick's hidden gems. Alan, our host at the Belvedere Guest House recommended it and in no way were we disappointed. Finding it took a bit of doing even with SatNav as it isn't on a main road and it doesn't have brilliant signage. But we eventually got there and were very glad that we did. It was really jumping on a Saturday night one patron was so wasted that he needed the bar for support to stand, but everyone was well-behaved and tolerant. The menu offered plenty of variety and orders taken at the bar. The Arran ale was excellent and our meal arrived in reasonable time served by a charming waitress. Great atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices and highly recommended.

The hotel and restaurant seem a little dated, but this was probably the best value for money meal that we had during our trip to Arran. The menu was simple and orders had to be made at the bar, but the food was well cooked, well presented and piping hot. Service was great too.

Combined our stay at the hotel with a meal during one of the evenings. The menu is presented on old LPs and the choice is wide and covers all tastes. We ordered the pies and they were all fresh and very tasty.

We got off the ferry and decided to go somewhere for lunch. We brought our dog with us so we needed somewhere pet friendly. ..result we found it.They had a little lunch menu with paninis, baked potatoes etc there was also a specials board and then the regular menu.We opted for 2 macaroni and cheese with bacon and leek. Oh what a meal! It was delicious. And it was a very reasonable price. Definitely recommend.

We visited for dinner as it was the first place we came across on our way in from Glen Rosa to Brodick. Although it's not visible from the road (which confused us a bit), the main house has a large extension containing a pub, which does a good variety of food and drinks. It was busy and had a good buzz, service was at the bar and food arrived quickly, and the staff were sure to point out to us that we should order dessert by the cut of point of 9pm! Food was very tasty and good value, and we had a lovely carved wood table with a view of the flowers in the garden. This place was a great and lucky find which I fully recommend!

Great pub, great food at reasonable prices, really friendly. We are here twice during our stay, whilst Fiddlers is nice, this place is much better value for money and feels like a local pub. The chocolate bread and butter pudding was sublime..!

The Ormidale Hotel in Arran has been popular for years. Our visit was a nostalgic one. I'm afraid I couldn't find my rose coloured specs as the large conservatory dining area doesn't seem to have had a makeover for many years. Food and service were excellent though.

We popped in after a busy weekend. The Ormidale Hotel decor is dated but it's clean with very friendly staff. You could be in any old style country pub if it was not of the Isle of Arran shaped tables.Menus were printed onto old record covers. It's typical pub grub steak pie and chips etc and plenty of it.Excellent value and will be back again

The Ormidale in Brodick is a classic pub with a nice bar and a cozy interior. We went here for dinner after a busy day of walking on Arran. So naturally we were very hungry. For starters we ordered the Creelers smoked salmon and haggis nachos. Both were very nice. The haggis nachos were a pleasant surprise, I have to say.As a main course, I had the Arran venison casserole with mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had the spicy lamb burger. I have to be honest here, the venison casserole was a disappointment: very bland, not at all the taste explosion I had hoped for. The spicy lamb burger also wasn't very spicy. Perhaps I was expecting a bit too much? The food wasn't expensive after all, but after the nice starters I would have hoped for an equally nice main course.

During our stay on Arran we visited the Ormidale a few times and it soon became our 'local'. We enjoyed the laid back and cosy atmosphere and on the one evening we ate the food was very enjoyable. There is a good selection of whiskeys and on a Wednesday they host a Rock and Pop bingo night which is great fun! There is an outdoor area for when the weather is nice, all in all it's a great pub with friendly staff in lovely surroundings,

We were told to avoid this hotel as it usually full of children, well I did I as normally do and found out for myself. Do not let the outside appearance of this hotel put you off. There are several rooms in this hotel to choose where you decide to eat, there were a few children in one room and I must say behaving very well and lets face it this is a family hotel. There is a bar area and a large glass house to sit in. The food was basic pub menu but cooked to perfection, I thought exceptionally cheap especially compared to the rest of Brodick and the portions were huge. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this to anybody and I'm sure if you can't get a taxi home the staff will willingly try and help you out. My thanks to all

Went in, and girls ran off their feet, and had a sausage supper, and a half standard/half special fish supper. Girls were lovely, and the food was outstanding. Best chippy in Largs by a mile. It's a bit chaotic, as all good traditional Italian chippys should be. Wouldn't go anywhere else. 5 star from us.

Such a shame how bad the food was at this place as the spa and the facilities are lovely! From reading the hundreds of bad reviews it seems the general consensus is that the food is terrible. We got the steak pie which had soggy pasty, chewy beef and watery tasteless gravy. We also had the buttermilk chicken which was overdone and inedible. It’s really a shame as this place has great potential. The food put a damper on what was a great day in the spa, very disappointed and dissatisfied! With the price of £20 for a pie you’d expect something decent but I’ve had better pies at the football! Service was also not the best.

We played two rounds at Lamlash on the weekend of 10th May and really enjoyed the experience. Relatively short course, but by no means easy and some tremendous scenery to view throughout. We were fortunate to have great weather as well. We were well looked after by Drew at the Starters Box on Friday and again by James when we played on Sunday. Sincere thanks to both gentlemen for looking after us. If we are back to Arran again for golf we will for sure play Lamlash. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Very disappointing. Busiest weekend in the Largs calendar and this poor pub/bar/restaurant was ill equipped to cope with the footfall. Been a couple of years since I have been in this facility, but very sad to see the demise of a lovely wee local. The place was filthy dirty, food would take over 1 hour and bar staff unable to manage queues at the bar. Hope the next time I visit this review will help them constructively to put the appropriate measure in place to restore the reputation of not just my opinion but the opinion of fellow customers.

Just popped in for coffee and cake. Coffee was ok, but I'm afraid whoever supplies their cakes needs needs to get the basics right... like how to make a decent Scone ...dry and tasteless... and worse still... not fresh at all. Snowball was exactly the same. I've had this experience before at GGs with their cakes... all LOOK nice in the display cabinet, but I'm afraid it's all show. Better places to go. Won't be back.
