Gran cena en el Ploughman a mitad de semana. Comida y servicio perfecto, mi eglefino mañana delicioso! Nunca he sido decepcionado aquí.

Después de haberme mudado recientemente a la zona de Peterculter me siento muy afortunado de tener un restaurante tan grande en mi puerta. He visitado The Ploughman muchas veces y nunca he tenido una mala comida.

We fancied a bar supper last week and this is definitely the place to go for one. As usual we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table and menus swiftly delivered. We had both more or less decided what we were having to eat before we arrived at the pub and it wasn't long before we were tucking in to delicious roast beef for me and steak pie for Mr Sc. Sadly I didn't have space for one of The Ploughman's fab puddings but had to sample a taste of my other half's apple crumble. It was very yummy. We will definitely be back very soon for more of your amazing food and fabulous friendly service.

First time I have been to The Ploughman in a long time. We both had macaroni cheese with chips - it was amazing!! The sauce was creamy and cheesy, just what macaroni cheese should be. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing too !! Lots of toffee sauce and it wasn’t dry. Will definitely be back. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work.

We have been visiting places as a family for Sunday lunch, hoping for a carvery, but they appear to be very rare these days so I just usually opt for the roast of the day which happened to be lamb today. I wouldn’t usually go for lamb but the mission is to find the perfect Sunday roast and, I’m sorry to say, that the Ploughman is definitely not it. There appeared to be lots of lamb but it was very small almost wafer thin slices with lots of gravy (which I do love), some veg, roast potatoes and skirlie. The potatoes were ok but the skirlie is the worst I’ve ever tasted. I hate to think that any tourists that have been advised to try skirlie while in north Scotland have it here and go back home thinking that’s how it tastes. This review is purely on the roast I had today and not an overall review of the restaurant itself. It’s a nice place and the staff were very friendly and attentive and the service was excellent. Will go back again just not for our Sunday lunch.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.

We were there during the Haal festival and the restaurant was very efficiently run and the food was great.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

Overall correct but below our expectations: the blue cooking required for the beef was limited, the accompaniments not very elaborate or sophisticated and the industrial sauces (what a shame!) Plates generously served. Certain whiskey references presented on the menu were no longer available and obtaining advice is not easy. Approximate but attentive and friendly service.

I ordered a burger, and was told that they were unable to add cheese, sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, or anything else. I was served a thin, crispy, dry, and overly cooked burger patty between a bun, all for the affordable price of 14£. Absolutely the worst quality of food that I’ve received at that price point. There was no salt, and little flavor to the burger. The fries which accompanied it were fine, but the coleslaw was perhaps the worst part of the whole meal. It was served with warm, almost hot mayonnaise, and tasted as if one or more of the ingredients had gone bad prior to serving. I found it unedible after one bite.
