Bladnoch Inn in Dumfries & Galloway

Irish invasion there last Sunday with our local Scottish cousins. Everything absolutely perfect. Highly recommend the ambiance, food and the service. Amy stole my heart- some brave and inspiring lady. Best of luck for the future Amy🙏🙏

Pretty poor quality, brown salad leaves put on plate as garnish. Easter Sunday carvery with no lamb! Big standard and service pretty amateurish. Looked like young guy was wearing his pyjamas.

Honestly you couldn't fault the food, but the menu was a little limited. The service was, well to be Frank, patchy. The table opposite us gave up waiting for their plates to removed, and the table behind us never got given a menu for 15mins after being seated. When we were given the desserts menu, we gave our choices and the girl twice came back to say the kitchen had run out of those dishes. I will admit it was a busy Friday night, but we had pre-booked and was told it was no problem. It definitely had the feeling of being a locals pub, which when you first walked in was a little daunting and very loud. Would I recommend this pub, hmm now there's a question. If you're happy with simply, honest grub then you can't go wrong, but then I think I have finer tastes these days.

Lovely lunch , very friendly hosts, had our dog with us snd water bowls provided for dogs . Which is a bonus’s d we will go back again soon .

Called in Easter Sunday on the off chance they could cater us for lunch. Had the warmest wel one for us and our dog, and the carvery was excellent. Definitely recommend.

I know the title of this review sounds iffy but it will save you disappointment in the long run especially if you want the Sunday carvery. Food is good but basic, my wife loved her carvery but I had a burger and that was also very good, as far as I could see the evening menu is the same as the daytime fair. The bar is very good and well stocked, treated myself to a Black Bottle whisky as well as the bitter, both were excellent. The young staff were attentive and couldn't do enough, a credit to the establishment.

enjoyed a stay in the no frills Bladnock last night.Friendly "local" atmosphere , nice meal at a very good oprice "friday is fish night! I stayed in room 3 with ensuite shower,sloping ceilings and quite compact but single bed comfy enough,hot tap needs a washer and Tv didnt want to show any channels but too tired to watch anyway! At £45 no breakfast is offered but local cafes available.

The menu describes its fish dish as freshly battered haddock. We were served frozen, breadcrumbed portions of reconstituted fish-something, along with frozen chips. The freshest part of the meal was the frozen peas! A joke in bad taste.

If you are looking for haute cuisine then thus is not the place. Not detracting from the food but you get good, hearty pub grub and a stinking price. All served in a lovely friendly environment. we HIGHLY recommend. Ps Saturday is curry night - priced at £7 per curry and Friday is fish night at just £6 ! Cannot speak for the fish but the curry was superb!

We came here after we had done the Bladnoch distillery tour but found the barman really friendly engaging and decided to stay, taxi home of course! The locals also really friendly and engaging! The burgers were great, we would definitely call here again. Thank you to the fantastic friendly Irish barman who really did extend the famous Irish welcome even though we were in Scotland!

We have been coming on holiday here for 5 years. We will always come to The Bladnoch Inn for drinks or food. In all my travels I have never had a friendlier welcome. Everything the owner and his team do is to make your visit a memorable one. The locals are great characters from the Laird to the barman. Everyone and everything is welcome. We have a dog. Food is fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced. This is a proper old local pub.

Pub nice, waiter nice however service was very slow, nobody checked back in to see if everything was OK. Took over 20 mintues to clear dirty plates away. Food very average, the caverey meat was OK however the veg/potatoes/Yorkshire puddings were all frozen so we feel it was overpriced, children's food was all frozen I think for chips and a burger charging £7 is very excessive.

The food was ok, but they are suffering a bit with staff shortages and things took awhile to check back, arrive, etc. Portion sizes were large, but the taste felt average or mass-produced.

On a Tuesday evening, the menu was pretty poor, and we opted for the steak dinner. Asked for medium rare. It arrived so rare as to be uneatable, barely seared, all raw inside. The onion rings were also undercooked and pretty disgusting. We had to ask for vegetables, the dinner provided was only the steak with trimmings and chips, and the veg dish was not an appealing selection. A most unpleasant dinner. The waitress was delightful but she wasn't responsible for the food. Can't say whether they have a different chef other days.

The Bladnoch Inn, close to Wigtown in the heart of the Machars area of Dumfries and Galloway, is a traditional country inn full of character and offering a good selection of food in both the lounge bar and the restaurant. My preference was the spacious lounge bar which is cozy and surrounded by lots of nick-nacks. There are four rooms, two ensuite and two sharing facilities. I chose one of the ensuite rooms. It was compact, being built into the eaves of the roof, but well laid out to make the most of the space available.The only thing you have to be aware of is the sloping roof as you go in, and especially out, of the toilet/shower room, being careful not to bang your head ... something you only do once! The room was spotless and very comfortable, as was the rest of the Inn.All the staff were very friendly and helpful an went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. On my arrival there were problems with internet access and I had to go down to the dining room to get online. It was explained that they were awaiting a new router which arrived the next day and good internet access was restored throughout the Inn.Bladnoch itself is a very small village beside the bridge that crosses the River Bladnoch. It has a few houses, the Inn, a distilery (the furthest south of six Lowland distilleries in Scotland) and a petrol station ... what more do you need!I will definitely be back.

Probably the worse meal I’ve had in a long time if you enjoy good food I would recommend you avoid this place which is a real shame as it looks a really nice place to stop and have a bite to eat trust me don’t eat here !!!!!

We have visited this establishment twice for lunch in the last two years and both times the food has been of an excellent standard. Staff extremely competent and friendly and you can also take your dog.

Visited this pub for dinner with my wife. The staff were very welcoming. The food was excellent. In particular the lasagne was 10/10 as was the steamed haddock. The sweets too were first rate. Overall a first class pub meal.

Booked a table for three adults and a child, my son being 18 months old. Went straight through to our table upon arrival which was great. Didn't have to wait long to be served our drinks or the menu. Apart from it took them a long time to bring us my sins drink. Food ordered and arrived very quickly which was great. The only downside was it felt like we where a nuisance. We where sat in the corner out of the way. We were not checked on once our food arrived. Staff where very unfriendly and we felt very alienated. When we'd finished we waited for our table to be cleared but no one came. We left to pay the bill, there was no goodbye or thank you for going etc. Not happy at all.

We stayed in a nearby cottage so visited here a couple of times due to the convenience. We had no problems getting a table at around 7pm, although there were a fair few other diners.The food was nice, but I was disappointed by the beer selection. Only one ale on tap, and it was Abbot Ale. There must be plenty of local breweries that the pub could source beer from. They had some bottles of more interesting beers, but they were kept out of the way on a dusty shelf when they could have done with being chilled.Staff were friendly and helpful.

Nos recomendaron el Inn Bladnoch por un agricultor local mientras caminando. Su recomendación era perfecto. Recibido con una cálida bienvenida, este hotel de gestión familiar que ofrece comida de pub bien está bien cocinada. Alrededor de nosotros había familias cuyos hijos pequeños estaban comiendo en con entusiasmo y nos pareció que el menú sea de buena calidad y amplia.

Experiencia muy agradable. Mi esposa y yo nos aprovechamos de los viernes pescado. Yo tenía un pescado y patatas fritas y ensalada a elegir acompañar. Buena parte de tamaño, lo cual era agradable y caliente. Mi esposa elija el abadejo ahumado. Esta fue servida sobre una cama de puré de patatas con cebolla de primavera cremosa, también había verduras para acompañar. Ella dijo que era muy sabroso. Pensamos en 5 libras cada plato era una excepcional relación calidad-precio. Para el postre teníamos desorden elton. Esto, hemos tenido varias veces antes y se merece una revisión en su propio derecho, verdaderamente excepcional.

Una reciente visita a la Inn Bladnoch mostraron que muchas personas encontrar allí la comida bien vale la pena visitar. Con cervezas locales y bebidas para comenzar la comida, pronto lanzado en nuestras comidas de carne y Guinness tarta, excelente y la lasaña muy sabroso. Volveremos a probar la comida más deliciosa.

Absolutamente encantados con nuestro almuerzo hoy en el Inn Bladnoch. Mi amigo y yo fuimos con invadir o de niños con nosotros y cada uno de nosotros a la izquierda completo y muy satisfecho. El carvery es imprescindible y tiene algo para todos los gustos. Es tan encantador y acogedor pub de estilo rural. Siempre me hace tan encantadora, cálida y amable bienvenida de Derek y Ian. Cayó en la noche de San Valentín después de llamar con antelación para ver si tenían una mesa disponible. Lo que un ganador que elegimos. El dueño era muy acogedor y atento. El tamaño de la porción, servicio, sabor y calidad eran excelentes. Sería recomendable la Bladnoch a cualquiera de la zona. Cuando mi esposa me acomodaba la factura fue presentada con bombones y rosas un final perfecto para una noche perfecta.

We visited on a cold lunchtime which was brightened by a warm welcome. We had a delicious pie, good beer and chatted to friendly staff and locals. Highly recommended.

Everything you could ask for. 3 types of roasts with all the trimmings. Would strongly suggest booking. Carvery served till 2pm but you are welcome to take your time and after being served to relax and chat with friends.

Nos lo pasamos genial. Una noche en la Posada yo mi mujer y mi hijo todos comimos una comida estupenda y bebimos con algunas personas. Los escoceses locales nos hicieron sentir como vivimos allí toda nuestra vida. Bruce incluso nos dio un gran consejo para ver el faro. De haberlo hecho, gracias a todos.
