Since we found the Granary we always stop here for a meal. There is a good selection on the menu, although i always settle for the fish and chips. It is absolutely scrumptious and i highly recommend it. The cleanliness and service also makes the meal more enjoyable.

Found the Granary on a casual day off a few years ago and I've been coming in ever since. Staff are more like pals now and always attend to my every need.

We have tried food here twice and it’s nothing to write home about. Typical pre packed microwaved food. A lot of the menu wasn’t available which was disappointing when we wanted the 2 for £x menu. On a positive the drink prices have significantly reduced in recent months which is a welcome change for the town.

I was out for a casual meal with friends and had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours at The Granary. There were a lot of choices on the menu, the difficult thing was deciding what to have. One of my friends is very fussy but even she was able to find a number of things she would eat. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely have a return visit in the near future.

Food was very good and very good value for money

After ordering four of the same meal, 4 x steak pie and mash we paid up front and sat with our drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting in a quiet bar, there was no sign of our food. We continued to wait and noticed nobody else was eating here. A simple meal we thought. Why does it take so long. After waiting another 30 minutes still no food. We then noticed what could only be described as a hair dirty and scruffy looking guy come from the kitchen and walk behind the bar. This was obviously the chef/cook his hair was greasy, his beard uncovered and his chef whites totally dirty. That didn’t give us much confidence. Anyway, after another 20 minutes, still no food so we went to the bar to ask where our food was. We were told that they would check. Finally, some onion rings were brought to the table but not main meal. Again, we asked and were told it’s on its way. Another five minutes past and still no food. We gave up in the end. After waiting well over an hour we asked for our money back. To be totally honest, I’d never return to this place. Bloody terrible.

Great food at a great price, staff were amazing

I love this place, the Wednesday pubquiz is the best 🙂 I was very sad to find out though that the vegetarian chili is no longer on the menu, that was such a cracking dish! Not so many veg options otherwise..!

Found this place after a day out with little one ...staff all amazing friendly and efficient without being overbearing ..food very well priced and quick and hot to the table Staff checking everything was OK throughout ...cannot fault go and visit you won't be disappointed Dog friendly and also child friendly till 8pm

Really nice pub with brilliant service and value for money meals. We popped in for a beer and ended up grabbing dinner. Two brilliant gammon meals for £13 is incredible and both were excellent. The traditional ale is also excellent, and the staff are always on hand if you need anything else. A top pub.

Nice pub,kitchen had closed when we got there (Sunday)so couldn't get anything to eat,owner said if we got a take away we could sit in and eat there,that was good .

We decided to visit this pub after seeing appealing photos and positive reviews online. It had the typical pub atmosphere and was quite busy, but we managed to find a table. We ordered nachos, only to be informed they were out of grated cheese. We went ahead with our order anyway, and although they claimed to substitute with extra cheese sauce, it didn't seem like it. The nachos took 40 minutes to arrive. After we had finished them, a server asked if we were done with our cutlery, which we found odd since we hadn't even received the rest of our food yet. In total, we waited an hour for our main dishes. Unfortunately, this meant we ended up eating during the bingo session, which we had hoped to avoid. (We arrived and ordered before 6 PM, but bingo started at 7 PM). When the food finally arrived, it was okay but nothing special. The mac and cheese tasted like a ready meal, and the hunters chicken was quite chewy. The atmosphere was decent, with plenty of screens for watching football, and the pub seemed very popular for bingo. However, the food and service did not meet our expectations.

I ordered haggis, neeps and tatties to be told they were out of haggis. So I ordered Hunter's Chicken which arrived with hardly any BBQ sauce and had been overcooked was very dry and extremely tough. I had booked the table for two online. When we arrived and mentioned that we had booked online the member of staff informed us that they cancelled all the online bookings. We were told what table we could use but it was reserved and we would have to be gone by 7pm. We will never go to that venue ever again.

Quiet night but food was good and service spot on

I'll start by saying I really enjoyed the food, but it took ages to come out and the place was dead. Thursday afternoon, hardly anyone in and we waited 45 minutes for food to come out (missing part of the order) then another 40 minutes after for desert. Disappointing.

Nice big place with lots of seats. Guy at the bar was friendly and efficient. The Katsu Chicken was delicious. Fish & Chips was good. Worth another visit.

3 meals all over cooked Granddaughter couldn’t eat all hers (chicken wings and kebabs Wife had fish dry and unable to eat batter I had scampi small and crispy

Drinks were cheap, staff were class and the atmosphere was inviting. Happily coming back here as my new regular pub. Brill.

The food was super tasty (main course and dessert), the price is super reasonable, the service was super friendly, and always the background music is super spot on (for my taste at least). I wish they did some disco nights with that soundtrack! Maybe they do, I'm not from Dumfries. But whenever I'm back in Dumfries I will make sure I pass by for a meal.

We attended on bingo night (we were not aware as we aren’t local) & the friendly barman managed to find us a table for food in the packed out bar. The food service was quick, the food was tasty & a complete bargain! Only downside was a poorly poured Guinness but overall a positive experience :)

I visit the Granary today and my experience was absolutely amazing staff and service was delightful food incredible and the prices are very good for a portions also they have a karaoke at Friday so we get very nice music and atmosphere also I really recommend for everyone to visit and get the best experience of costumer service thank you very much again for delightful service 🤩

Monday at 2. Not the best time to judge atmosphere. Manager very polite and friendly. Salad garnish was very tasty.

Good food, cold beer and friendly staff. The decor and furniture are a bit tired, but there is a good atmosphere with a traditional menu on offer.

Popped in for a late lunch today, ordered food at 2pm, told the steak pie would be ready in 15-20 mins if we wanted to wait, we did, had to ask after 45 mins to be told it was being plated up. Had to ask again for refund after an hour as still no sign of it. Wouldn’t be so bad if they had thought to come and tell us but they just left us waiting. Got a refund but will never be back. Wasn’t even that busy

On a four-night stop in Dumfries and needed an eating place which was dog-friendly. What a smashing place this was. Very comfortable with exceptionally welcoming staff who made a big fuss of our dog. First night, the place was relatively quiet but we returned for the Wednesday night quiz which was great fun. Oh, and the food is first class. Suggest you give it a try.

I was in for dinner with my cousin. The young man serving was lovely. I think his name was Joe. His customer service was brilliant. He was attentive & I hope the Granary knows what a good employee he is. I used to work at McDonald’s which had excellent customer service & training. Joe informed us he has only worked there for a short time but enjoys his work and meeting new people. He was very pleasant. Thank you Joe

Visiting Dumfries with my dog and this place came up as highly recommend and I would agree. Good, proper pub food (not gastopub), really lovely staff and a nice vibe from the regulars.

Wandering round Dumfries on a Monday came across The Granary. On entering welcomed by member of staff, found a lovely table in the window. Something for everyone on the menu. Ordered food at the bar didn't have to wait too long. Went for the 5 plates for £24.50, Food was nice and hot, presentation was excellent. Great flavours. Son went for the katsu burger and loved it, The person in charge was working non stop checking on all tables and serving the food, Came over for a chat which made our party of 3 feel so welcome. Top marks for customer service. We will definitely be back. Under 25 bring your I.D.

Average food and very stained chairs. Needs some refurbishment to fixtures and fittings. Central location, convenient but not very good.

Stumbled across this pub while trying to find a dog friendly pub in Dumfries. Great food, nice beer and even friendlier staff, really great with the Dog. The restaurant area downstairs was great - even had TVs on the tables so I could watch the footy while eating - and they have loads of things to do upstairs too - darts, and pool. They have quiz nights and on Thursdays pool is free for a couple of hours in the evening. Would 100% recommend especially since it's quite hard to find dog friendly pubs in Dumfries.

Visited the revamped upstairs sports bar. Got to say what a change. Plenty of tvs for live sports 3 pool tables 2 dart boards and , possibly, an air hockey table. Live music and DJ sets could happen as well. Well done team granary for making this happen. Good luck 👍👍

Visited the Granary last night, I had fish and chips and a glass of wine. Lovely food fresh and delicious, lovely cold wine and a wee bowl of water for my dog. Visiting a place on my own can be tricky and awkward but I just felt included and welcome . Despite the staff being busy , every one of them took time to speak to me and my dog! I was lucky enough to be able to view the revamped area upstairs , my goodness Caroline and her team have worked their socks off it looks amazing! Comfortable seating areas, a separate pool area, would be a great venue for family / friends gatherings. The room upstairs would be perfect for live music gigs and parties , such a lovely space . Thanks team Granary, you are always looking to improve what you offer your customers and good luck with the new space , looks amazing!
