What a great place! This was our first stop on our 14 day European trip and it was our favorite! We arrived in time for the local jam session on a Sunday night. Musicians playing wonderful music and we shared a few pints with the locals who were kind and welcoming! The room we stayed in was perfect for our family of 3. It was clean and spacious. Breakfast choices were wonderful, the chef wanted to prepare us whatever we wanted but we just opted for some toast, I think she was disappointed but we just arent breakfast people. We felt bad! This was the start of our trip of a lifetime from the US and it was just perfect! We hope to return someday

Glenuig inn is in a lovely location and with its on site pub well worth a visit. HOWEVER not at £175 per night for 2 people. Just 12 months ago it was £140 and even at that price the value for money was questionable. Include your food and drinks and you are pushing £240+ for a single night in relatively basic rooms. It’s a pity greed has ruined this lovely location but it’s just not worth the amount they are charging. I await a response moaning about staffing, fuel costs etc. Other hotels in rural Scotland suffer the same hardships but they don’t treat customers like fools.

If you call the Road to the Isles/White Sands of Morar, etc, the “beaten track” then this gets you a quieter spot that’s not far off it, tucked away as it is at the top of the charming Glenuig Bay - but less than two minutes’ drive on the Lochailort road from the best of the views over the Sound of Arisaig. Pub grub of the highest quality in civilised portions (apart from the massive bit of delicious haddock I had one night), Glen Spean beers (among others), this is possibly the cleanest place I’ve ever been in, clearly very well maintained, and it’s outside accommodation block extremely spacious. It’s perfectly placed for the beaches around Acharacle, and a jumping off spot both for Mallaig/Knoydart and Ardnamurchan. When people like the Glenuig folks invest their time and talents in a spot like this, they do us a very great service indeed. Lovely stay, thanks.

We stayed 2 nights and were delighted with the location of the Glenuig Inn, which is sensational, and our large, spacious, warm room and bathroom with a lovely bath and shower. The bar is cozy and is open all year for the local community. The service was exceptional and the local charcuterie and Cullen Skink were both excellent. Rona was a warm and welcoming host and runs a well oiled machine. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were superb and the eggs cooked to perfection. A great stay. Thank you.

What a great surprise this place was. Wife and I stopped after seeing Tioram Castle and had an outstanding lunch. The food blew us away, and the views were gorgeous and peaceful. everything was homemade even the crisps. We both had a soup and panino combo. soup of the day was carrot and coriander, a perfectly light lunch soup that was not overly creamy. My sandwich was venison salami, pork salami, fresh cucumber pickle, and pear/apple chutney. My wife’s was cheddar, sundried tomato pesto, and spinach. Lunch is served 12-3. Dinner is 5-8 and you need a reservation.

Stayed 3 nights 17th to 19th. Great welcome when we arrived Rona showed to our room. Really homely and great for our dog Finn. Ate on all 3 nights food was excellent as was the breakfast. Joined in with the quiz night which was brilliant, didn't win but hey ho some of the cryptic music questions were a tad tricky 😀. Had some good chats with locals and staff. Did a bit of visiting around but mainly chilled ( apart from when F14s blasted across) A great spot to just chill, Rona and team do a great job and no TV which is even better. We will be back that's for sure. Cheers Iain, Margaret and Finn

We enjoyed an excellent evening meal here, great value for money and friendly staff. I had haggis fritters as a starter followed by Korean Beef, then zesty lemon cheesecake. All were very tasty and attractively served with accompanying dips, sauce etc. Fresh, modern decor with beautiful photos. It's also a local pub and dog friendly. I would certainly go again.

A pretty average experience where one is constantly reminded of their eco credentials. Room was ok but bland. Breakfast was booked on a "slot" time basis even though the place seemed pretty quiet. Food was ok but I was amused by the waitress doling out tatty scones the size of postage stamps as if they were made of gold! Checked in by a very unpleasant offhand guy who seemed to have social issues definitely bad as a reception flunky. Their final request to strip the beds for them was of course ignored.

This pub and restaurant is situated overlooking the wonderful Glenuig Bay. We.were there on a lovely sunny evening and the views were absolutely spectacular. Staff were friendly and helpful. Choice of food and wine was brilliant for a smaller pub . We had the fish and chips, the burger and the veggie burger and the venison chili. They were, without exception, extremely tasty and good and filling. We also had desserts , which were yummy. We definitely recommend a visit to the Glenuig Inn when you're next in this beautiful area of Scotland .

We came for lunch one day and booked in for dinner a few days later. Both menus were limited but the food was of excellent quality and freshly prepared. Personally I would much prefer it this way than the way many do, where the menu is more extensive, but everything is kept frozen. Specials each day which were great. Wonderfully warm welcome by the staff. Would visit without hesitation.

I came here with family and friends while staying locally. As a group of 9, we were divided into two tables and the waitress was very accommodating about this. As a vegan, I ordered sweet potato fritters for starter, which were nice, and came along with a very tasty vegan mayo dip.The starter came with a salad too which could have done with some dressing. For the main, I had a pastry filled with vegetables topped with a wild garlic pesto, chips and salad. The pastry was nice (and the pesto was delicious) - but could do with some vegan meat alternative in it too if I were to add any improvements. The chips were perfect- and again, the salad could have done with some dressing.Would be great to have a veggie/vegan burger too and perhaps a dessert but appreciate the effort made for us vegans!

Myself and family booked a table for 6 adults and a toddler at this restaurant. Want a disappointment. - owner/ barman (man with beard) was unwelcoming on our arrival. -asked for plastic glass for toddler as afraid she would smash a glass. Patronising response about how we shouldn't use plastic. I am very aware of the current plastic situation at the moment. A simple 'No sorry' rather than a lecture would have been enough. - made to order quickly at the bar whilst ordering drinks. -Asked barman (again man with beard) if they had a childrens menu, response was 'only what's on the board'. No childrens menu.-asked if they would consider making a smaller portion of a standard meal for our toddler? response was No, he suggested buying an adult size meal and sharing with an adult. Ended up having to order her a side of potatoes for our toddler.- After ordering we had to ask where to be seated. - Daughter smashed glass, as predicted unfortunately. Waitress reluctant to clean up. We apologised for the mess.-Man with beard came to our table and inspected the floor around us for a good 5 minutes. It was extremely awkward. We felt like he was looking for an argument with us, we just ignored him. - After eating we went to the bar to split the bill and pay. - Man with beard for some reason found this very complicated and quite distressed about having to do this. He said 'what normal people do is pay in full' Explained we were a group of 6 and wanted to pay separately. Took barman at least 10 minutes to do this. Food was good, enjoyed the smoked salmon. I cannot believe this barman/ owner is front of house of this restaurant. He is rude, patronising and slow. If you do not want children coming to this restaurant do not advertise you do. We booked this table 5 weeks in advance with the knowledge a toddler was also coming. We will never be returning again and have put a message warning guests in the visitor book of the holiday home we stayed in near Roshven.Such a shame.

Followed by a brilliant night at 'the Hub' at Glenuig Hall. Great Craic with the locals and tourists alike. on our travels throughout the surrounding area we heard that our interaction with the Glenuig Inn owner was quite typical of his character. We visited the Glenuig Inn for dinner, many times on our previous visits to the area, and it was always a good experience. However, when we called in on Saturday night, in the early evening, to enquire if there was a table for two available, we were vitually turned away at the door. I do understand we had not booked, but it was the condescending and rude way that we were spoken to which is the issue. There was virtually nobody there, but the staff member explained (trying not to look at us) that they would have a large group in later and also had to feed their residents. The staff member was very obviously condescending in her manner and her superior attitude. Such a shame as we will never return having been treated in such a way. So disappointing.

Went for meal in evening expecting a lovely atmosphere and relaxed meal. Glenuig Inn is in a beautiful setting and the interior is clean and modern. The menu is posted on boards behind the bar and you order your food at the bar and then take a table. We chose to sit in the dining area which was very quiet until a scruffy family with very young children and a dog decided to come in. The kids were running around and the family seemed to take over the place so we moved into the bar area away from them. We then waited for our meal. After 1 hour I asked what the problem was. No real concern from the bar staff but then within a minute our food miraculously appeared. I think it had been standing somewhere and had been forgotten. By this time we were getting fed up. The main courses cost £18 and we would have had a dessert and coffee but by this time we'd just had enough. What we thought would have been a nice meal out turned into a very disappointing evening. We couldn't wait to get out. On another evening this could have been different because the food itself was very good. My comment would be don't expect to be dining with people who have gone out for a special evening meal. Expect all and sundry to turn up maybe from a day out fishing or walking and still in their scruffy clothes. I am sure it will appeal to many people but not us. The service was extremely slow and the 2 members of staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. The food when it arrived was OK but was going cold.

This certainly was a rare find. The Inn is stripped back and comfortably basic in a really good way. Food orders are taken at the bar , menus hang on boards around the walls. First impressions were that it was organised chaos, with the barman orchestrating the show - food didn't seem to arrive in the order that the orders were taken. We received our food before the couple who were aheas of us on the queue for example. Crikey was the food tasty, as we had eaten quite a large lunch we ordered two starters each - Crab Tian, followed by Cullen Skink both of which were incredible. The scenery around the Inn is totally breathtakingly a trip off track, we only tried as my hubby rides in the Scottish 6 Days Trial each year and rides past it. Wasn't as he had expected it to be ...it's a real hidden gem. A definite tick on the 'want to return' list!!

Such a refreshing change to eat at an Inn doing something different from the standard pub menu. It seems as though the chef has been given freedom to be creative rather than feeling obliged to churn out the usual unimaginative options, and is doing a great job. Some reviewers have complained about the menu being 'limited', but I liked this approach of offering fewer choices that were all perfectly crafted, plate-lickingly tasty and cooked from fresh. When we stayed, there were 7 main course options: 2 meaty (venison or lamb); 3 fishy (hake, halibut, salmon); 2 veggie (gnocchi or barley risotto). The fish dishes were particularly excellent, but everything we tried (we had dinner here six times during our stay) was delicious. The main portions are fine for 'normal' hunger but if you're feeling hungrier, order a side. The herby roasted potatoes were my favourite of these, but again all those we tried (buttered greens; carrots and peas; roasted vegetable salad) were very good.

We were staying in the area so decided to give the Glenuig Inn a try. The building itself is in a nice location and looks very inviting however this is pretty much where the positives end. We waited for ages in an almost empty pub to be served drinks by uninterested staff before having a look at the menu. Given that getting drinks took ages (and the beer was poor) and the menu was very overpriced and unappetizing we decided to cut our losses and went back to our holiday cottage to cook for ourselves. The fabric of Inn is fine however they need to sort out their staff and menu, I'm not going to pay London prices to eat in a rural pub!

We stayed here for three nights. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and more than adequate for our requirements (you don't go somewhere like this to sit in your room). Although the food was very good, the menu was quite limited and there was not a great variety - for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you are staying for more than a couple of days you could be struggling as the menu did not change at all. It's also quite pricey.

We called into the Glenuig on the spur of the moment for an evening meal. The food was perfectly adequate but we felt it was over priced. The menu was quite limited and although it included some seafood, it didn't appear that the menu included any 'catch of the day' specials which one might hope to expect in this area, especially in a restaurant that clearly thinks of itself as providing more than just honest pub food. The service was efficient but the general ambience was charmless and clinical. The Glenuig has potential - it's in a wonderful location (although the restaurant doesn't afford the best views of the loch) but it really needs to decide what it is and either dress up or down accordingly.

We stayed overnight and had dinner. The room was very clean ,comfortable and pleasant. The dinner was excellent and we enjoyed the bar although it closed at 9.30. Staffwere attentive and friendly.Breakfast was good considering there was no bacon eggs etc. We felt it was slightly over priced but would stay their again

Si vous recherchez une cuisine moderne avec des produits locaux, ce restaurant répondra à vos attentes. Il est certes un peu cher (62£ à deux, pour boisson + plat + dessert) mais les plats sont excellents.

Food is great. Service + decor is cafe style but as a family of 5 + puppy, that suited us. Friendly staff. Although 830pm is advertised as closing, we still got offered desserts after that time - and enjoyed them!

I reviewed this restaurant earlier in the year and was delighted with the lunch. However, my return visit in early July was very disappointing. Gone was the extensive menu to be replaced by 1) Smoked Salmon Plate 2) Cheese Plate 3) Soup. Plus various scones etc. Certainly those in my party who chose the Smoked Salmon plate enjoyed it very much. But ........... poor choice of dishes really. What made matters worse was the wonderfully presented evening menus on the wall. Delicious and mouth watering. I would have liked something hot, akin to what was available on my last visit. I chose the soup but had to return it as it was lukewarm. On this occasion the establishment lacked any kind of atmosphere and there were only two other people eating. Front of house service was incredibly slow. So disappointing as I had persuaded some of my friends to join me on this occasion.

Came here for lunch . Very limited menu. Salmon platter, cheese platter , soup , scones and cake . That was it. " we don't have a chef till after 6" I was abruptly told. We had the salmon which was nice but the bread was stale and the beer warm . My main issue was the terrible service from the 2 members of staff who were on. No niceties . No hello. No how was your meal. Only grunts. We honestly felt there was something wrong but having read other reviews I note this wasn't a one off. Customer service training needed .

Been to this restaurant a number of times and have always found the food to be good, albeit with an often limited menu.

Visited this establishment for an evening meal whilst staying at a nearby holiday cottage. Whilst the quality of the food was high, the ambience is poor, and style of service felt more commensurate with that of a pub than a restaurant.

This was supposed to be a special wedding anniversary meal. My husband had booked a table for the two of us and our daughter. I don't like complaining but I feel quite upset on behalf of my husband that this wedding anniversary treat didn't work out as we had hoped. The setting is exquisite but the atmosphere and customer service was cold and unwelcoming. I actually felt a bit of a nuisance asking the young barman where we should sit and where the menus were....we were not made to feel welcome! Such basic customer service should be a given but especially in a restaurant with prices higher than usual for this area. We didn't stay for the food. We went instead to the Arisaig Hotel where we given a very warm welcome and enjoyed lovely locally caught fish.

One of the few places in Scotland were the interior is actually nice. Friendly service and great food (they do not serve any soda's such as Pepsi or Coke). As a starter the crab cocktail was exquisite. The main dishes were all tasty as well. The prices are higher than in other places but you get value for money. We paid 147 £ for five people (four starters and five mains).

Spent 3 nights here with family. After breakfast one morning the owner got very upset with us for spending too long talking after the meal. One evening, after buying drinks, the owner's partner told us we were not permitted to eat a snack we'd brought from Croatia to share with our family in the lounge, nor could we consume it outside (eg on the picnik table by our room).

Very disappointed we visited twice whilst on holiday nearby. The first time was lunchtime. We were told by a very off hand young lady that there was just soup, scones or cake available. She was not in the least friendly. We decided to have a drink and she could barely be bothered to serve us. We returned a couple of days later for tea and a scone. It was the same member of staff and her attitude was still very poor. The tea was good but the cheese scones were stale and inedible. Not a place to be recommended.

Superb standard of cooking. well presented and served. The place is very well presented and we will be back. Pricier that most but it is good value and on a par with most quality dining venues. Well Done to Everyone involved.

We stopped for a snack lunch in the Glenuig Inn and found the food to be really excellent. Service was a touch on the slow side but nevertheless well worth waiting for. The menu is extensive and of good quality although quite pricey. Good to see somewhere serving food all day.

We opted for here as it is set in a great location and its recent refurbishment has made it look welcoming. The menu was extensive with some detailled descriptions and we had to vegetarians with us. A highland sharing platter with salmon and venison etc was distinctly average as it lacked dressings and accompaniments for smoked salmon. There was two small discs of dried venison and it nver wararnted the £20 cost. Th risotto was flavoursome and generous, probably the best dish. The warm potato salad was described as having herbs and sun dried tomatoes but had no sign or flavour of them, we asked and was advised it was in it. I felt annoyed with myself for not complaining more. The desserts were decent in terms of size and quality and we enjoyed those. We had two soft drinks and two ciders and the bill was around £85. The service is avaerage and going back to the bar to order and buy drinks wasn't great mid meal. Other items being served to other customers looked OK, perhaps I did't make a good choice of main.

Apart from a strange quirk whereby they ask you to order at the bar thesis a welcome restaurant with some good local produce as well as vegetarian options (one of our party always difficult to please on this count!)

We popped in for a pint after a hike and enjoyed the warm, clean surroundings and the very friendly people working there. I cannot say much about the food since we did not try any, but the menu looked promising. Also, you get a nice view if you snag one of the table in the room to your right when you enter.

Good basic food. Big portions. Gluten free options available too. Cappuccinos weren't quite warm enough when we got them. Clean and modern toilets. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Beautiful scenery around, lochside.

We stopped here for lunch while touring the coasts of the highlands. It’s a really nice bar / restaurant with really lovely, welcoming staff. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Traditional fare - we had a fish pie and a pork belly dish. Lots of fine beers on offer but also a good selection of non alcoholic drinks too - we were driving. The pub is situated right on the beautiful bay of Glenuig and the views are stunning. Well worth a visit.

Stopped here to buy some locally made jewellery and ended up having a lovely pint. - no mass produced lager here! I like what the owner has done with the place, lots of space and light and no chintz, not a shortbread tin in sight. I especially liked that my son was ID’d and because he had forgotten it had to have a ginger beer. :D

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.
