Great traditional pub right beside Inverness Castle... quaint, my lunch was excellent, large outdoor area. Dog friendly.. Toilets clean.. Only thing, and it's probably just me but I found the place quite cold, toilets very chilly...! Thanks, shall be back :-)!

The food and service was great and the tavern is super cute. We enjoyed everything we ordered and the staff was really nice and attentive. The Cullen skink and haggis bon bons were the best we had on our trip. Highly recommend.

Really disappointed. This has been our 'last post' on the way home many times. Stopped for something to eat tonight. Did not complain about the food but just explained that it was not the quality for the cost, as the steak was an inedible cut. When we went to pay they charged full cost. I explained why this should be reduced to be told, that's what it is! You will not be our go to place again. Get a taxi and go to the fluke....better value, service and manners.

Great local Inverness pub! We (14 blokes) booked a table upstairs for dinner, the server was a great lad that managed to keep up and keep us entertained all night. Food was delicious and local. Great selection of drinks and a good atmosphere at the bar / garden downstairs. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner wanted to have some drinks here because we thought the terace loved absolutely lovely. The guy from the bar was apparently friendly but from start gave us the small pints even though we asked for big and then, when we went outside, a lady from the bar came after us and she kept staring at us the whole time we were there, like we were planning to steal something. Seemed very odd and made us feel awkward and not want to come again ever (needless to say that we didn't do anything inappropriate or something like that).

So I popped in 2 weeks ago to try their Sunday roast,as it Was highly rated. I must say it was a big let down, veggies were dry&old, kind of looked like they been prepared 2 days in advance, also it was very interesting to see beetroot on the plate as part of sunday roast. The beef was tender, but lack of flavours. I must say the Barman was the spotlight of the visit, attentive and kind, He is the only reason I scored higher. Unfortunately won't be returning for food, but for drinks as they have got a nice outside area, and good staff. Also toilet was suprisingly very clean for a pub.

Near Inverness Castle is this typical Scottish tavern with traditional food and a cozy atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the prices very affordable. The mushroom soup of the day was delicious and so were the haggies. 100% memorable.

Lovely city centre pub right next to the castle. Visited twice during our stay, both early evening. Booking is essential as on both occasions all the tables in the dog friendly bar were full. All the staff were friendly, even on Friday and Saturday evenings, when it can get quite busy. The food is very good and excellent value for money. Keep an eye on the specials board. My wife tried the macaroni cheese and smoked salmon from it and was really impressed. On our first visit I had the haggis, neeps and tatties, while my wife had the cullen skink. Both were excellent. On our second visit I had the battered haddock & chips, which was large and delicious. Please be aware that there are multiple tv screens in the place showing sport and entertainment programmes, sometimes at the same time. Perhaps not the place for a romantic cosy occasion. However, it has a good atmosphere and would thoroughly recommend visiting when you’re in Inverness

It’s not a huge pub but the staff are really wonderful - very friendly. We were there off peak so no need to book, but in the warmer months you definitely should. The food in the bar was really good and that was our only option as we have a dog with us. We had the steak sandwich and the steak and ale stew and it was the best meal we’ve had yet in Inverness. We will definitely visit again if we’re back in Inverness.

Food here was terrible, starter was miniscule. Two tiny fish goujons, not enough to feed a child let alone a grown man, £9, WAISTED. Steak pie again very small, most definitely more like a child portion. Fish n chips really bad. Most definitely the worst we've had, bordering on burnt, horrible frozen chips, for almost almost £20 for a main meal, it is a joke. First time here for food and most definitely the last. Shocking prices for the terrible food received. We felt completely ripped off. The fish batter was awful, steak knives would have been appropriate to cut through it, just very disappointing. Definitely a place to ignore .

Just back from evening at The Castle Tavern. Was entertaining American friends so thought it would be nice to take them to a local pub rather than a chain restaurant. The haddock looked amazing but they only had one portion left so one member had to pick something else. Most of us had mac and cheese, and I have to say it was one of the most disappointing I've ever had. Hardly any sauce so it was very dry. I wondered if they had just sprinkled cheese through the cooked pasta rather than making a cheese sauce. I felt quite embarrassed given I had recommended the restaurant.

A quaint and charming pub full of history, fine food, and an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Inside seating is limited, but there are several covered tables outside. While there are a few seats at the bar, like most places I’ve been (this is my first time in Scotland.), you don’t eat there. The bar area is for drinking. When you’re ready to eat, you sit at one of the tables, close enough to your neighbors to enjoy a conversation. I had two starters and highly recommend them both: the haggis croquettes, and the wings. And of course, a pint. The croquettes had all the earthy flavors you’d expect from haggis, and are quickly deep fried. The wings were unlike any I’ve had in the states. No Frank’s hot sauce here, just an unusual and flavorful dry rub, cooked to perfection. A woman at a neighboring table had both a gluten and dairy allergy, and they were able to accommodate her. Check this place out, you won’t regret it, and will leave with a full belly and great memories.

This place has a nice atmosphere but is slightly chaotically run. I arrived at about 6:30pm on a busy Wednesday evening and had a drink at one of the tables outside. I then tried to order food at the bar but was told I wasn’t sitting at a table where food could be served, because it’s a small kitchen (not sure about the logic there but never mind). I quickly found a table where food could be served, but had to go back to the bar to order the food. One of the members of staff said that anyone could take my table while I was gone ordering food, and he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. How then, is a solo patron supposed to be able to keep their table and order food? I ordered fish and chips which were fine, and a garlic bread, which was terrible - I think they forgot to add garlic or butter to it? It was just … bread? The fish and chips were priced on the menu at £15.95 and the GB was £3 but I was somehow charged £20.50.

Do not make any requests, or you will be met with an intimidating stare and a passive/aggressive response. It made our stay quite difficult, but we stuck it out as it was peak season at the time. Also, our room more suited to a single bed category - with a double bed squeezed into it, there was barely enough room to move along one side of the bed and around the end of the bed, as it was so close to the wall on two sides. There are plenty of other good B&B's in the area who will be glad to welcome you.
