Aroma in Highland

Very expensive, undercooked and lazy chinese food. Maybe we were there on a bad day but we did not enjoy our meals at all. Everything was from frozen and tasted more out of the packet than homecooked. It was served very quickly so there's a positive but that further confirms that it wasn't fresh.

We originally thought this was a coffee shop but noticed in the window that they served Chinese food too. Went back later for dinner and we were really glad we had- the food was fantastic! We had the hot n sour soup, pancake rolls, salt and pepper king prawn and Singapore noodles. Highly recommend.

Quirky wee café trying to decide whether it’s a coffee shop or a Chinese restaurant. But the service is good and the food is good so who cares? Recommended for a coffee and cakes or an evening meal

Absolutely wonderful food with lovely view over the back to the water. I had the tofu balls which were home made by the mother and were incredibly tasty and delicious. Served with a generous helping of broccoli cooked and flavoured to perfection and rice. So pleased to have found this gem . Not as busy fortunately for us and there were queues for other places with much more standard and less healthy options.

Brilliant restaurant with Chinese cuisine or your standard sandwich, baked potato, soup lunch mix. Staff were welcoming, spotlessly clean, excellent service and quality of food

Genuinely the best Chinese chicken noodle soup ever . Lovely staff. Friend ordered Katsu Curry and it was also lovely .

I ordered a chicken curry with rice and vegetable spring rolls and it cost £20.50! The rice wasn't fresh, the chicken curry was ok and the vegetable spring rolls were actually really tasty. If you have money to burn and poor taste then this Chinese is perfect!

I visited Aroma one Monday..I had steamed dumplings, they looked like they were frozen and were tasteless and had wonton soup with coriander in it..it was bland.

Friendly staff, nice view and AMAZING SOUP! So nice we ordered another bowl! If we had found this on our first day rather than our last we would have been back several times! Next time we are visiting, we will be back!

Called in for a lite bite and coffee, service great, staff pleasant and the food brill. Very clean with clean toilet with disabled access. Would recommend

Fantastic coffee and absolutely beautiful food, some of the finest Chinese food I have ever had. Large portions too so if you are very hungry you will not be disappointed

Honest review. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Mix vegetables taste like a defrosted asda mix. Horrible... Everything else tasted salty. Curry tasted like a powder curry mix. Honestly, I do not recommend this place. We went in in a group of over 20 and when ordering been told that need to pay extra 10% beacouse of Christmas. Food very poor. Will never be back under any circumstances.

We have arrived in fort williams on a 24th December. Pretty much all restaurants were closed. Only this one opened. So we had no choice. The lady after seeing us (big group of 20) decided to add on 10% service charge for all of us. Card m/c suprisingly wasnt working… so we had to go out and take out some cash. Food- was poor, tea was prepared with CHEFF MIC (microwave) TRAGIC 😱 cups were brown inside. The lady didnt bother to wash her hands while touching tea bags. Service took her soooo loonggg!!!! To take an order…. we have spend over 2 hr: to order food, to get the food, and to eat…. Waiter had such a shaking hands, nearly dropped our food… and he didnt know what food is going where, we had some food mistakes too. Totally DISAPPOINTED, not RECOMMENDING!

Great wee cafe/takeaway & lots of choices too. Fab view of the loch. Peking Chicken is soooo good! We enjoyed it so much we got a takeaway too :)

We had the most delicious chinese meal at this cafe, couldn't fault the food at all. Very strange though as from the outside there is no indication that this is a chinese restaurant and takeway, it looks just like a coffee shop until you pause...

My husband and I visited here on a respectfully busy Friday evening. We were trally looking forward to it as seeing the food coming out it looked amazing. The chap working I believe the owner was walking around handing out menus and cutlery very casually....

Excellent Chinese takeaway menu - we ordered a meal for 3 to eat in our apartment and it was piping hot freshly cooked to order and everything was really good. There are a few vegan options and there's a great choice.

Went in here and the chinese food was amazing. Bit strange being a cafe and coffee place and having a chinese menu but don't let that put you off. We got peking crispy chicken and a katsu curry and it was superb. Food arrived quickly....

Was struggling to find a table as town was heaving but found this little cafe, well worth the search and we got the last table available. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and view over the water was a bonus. Restaurant running on a cash only...

Lovely cafe with amazingly authentic Chinese good. The sweet and sour was perfection with no gloopy texture about it. Hubby had house special chow neon and was well impressed too. Also has spring rolls and coffee. Lovely people running the place. Great food, great service...

The whole experience was really a bit crap. The coffee tasted like dish water, and one never came at all. The paninis were bang average when we eventually received them (about 15 minutes apart), and were not worth the guts of £8. On the plus...

For a place that advertises itself as a premium Coffee place its not half terrible. Asked for a flat white and got a watery, weak, white coffee. Didn't even wipe down the table we were sat at. Poor.

Much better than the other coffee available in town. Nice view. Gluten free bread available for sandwiches.

In all seriousness, one of the worst feeds I’ve ever had. Expensive wasn’t worth half what we paid. The soup was out of a tin, jacket pot was so average. Stevie wonder served it up on the plate.

The Chinese dumpling soup was lovely. Also, the pork dumplings were delicious. Move to the more western cake - still delightful! High quality green tea. Really like this place and will return.

Walk past. Find anywhere else. If you can get past the woman behind the till who will eventually take your order, who clearly wants to be anywhere else but there, you’re bound to be disappointed. If it’s a waitress who carries your coffee or tea with her thumbs on the drinking edge of the cup you’re after, then this is the place for you. Behold the bountious fillings in your sandwich - photo attached. When the disgraceful state of the food was brought to the attention of the till woman, her response was “well I don’t control the quality of the food”. Nice. Like I said, walk on by to anywhere else you can find open.

The cakes were stale, the coffee tasted like instant and the whole atmosphere was rather depressing. Fort William is badly lacking in good cafes (wildcat is the exception). So much potential for a successful business but this place is so average it’s depressing.

Hot day. Main thoroughfare through Fort William. Quick stop here for chips and sandwiches. Nice enough food. Ok inside. Pleasant staff. Can’t really say more.

This cafe is good for a quick coffee stop. They also serve lunch/light bites and it is one of the better places to go if you want a view of the sea.

Terrible service. Forgot most the order. Cold cake on warm plate. Cake smelt vile. People on the table next to us had a mouldy sandwich.

We saw this place as we wandered through town and fancied something different to pub grub. We couldn't find many reviews online but thought we'd give it a go. It was fab. Friendly service and really tasty Chinese food; the fried rice was especially tasty!

Popped in for lunch. Ordered a baked potato and others coming in after us were served again and again. Eventually asked as we’d only been served our drinks, to be advised it would be a few minutes. On being served the potato was very floury and overall was bland - tasteless cheese and salad lacking in taste too. Wouldn’t rush back.

We loved our visit here and had very nice teas and cakes. It is a fascinating place for as well as serving usual cafe foods with lots of teas, coffees and cakes, it also has a lot of Chinese meals on its menu which we shall definitely try when next in Fort William. The place was clean and comfortable and service excellent.

Service was quick, food spot on with good value for money. Best Chow Mein my wife has had. Well done.

Camminando lungo la strada principale ci vediamo questo bar che ci attrae poiché da fuori sembra che abbia una bella vista sul lago. Entriamo e ci sediamo sul bancone con vista da cui però vediamo i cassonetti che danno sulla strada, poco male ci eravamo in effetti illusi noi, quindi ordiniamo thé ed una torta al limone, secca come neanche la peggior torta confezionata...ed insapore..atmosfera lugubre.

A proper size tea pot for two, just a shame there wasn't sufficient tea in it to make a flavoursome drink. I'm a patient person so waited for the brewing too.

We stopped in for a lunch of tea and scones with jam and clotted cream - absolutely yummy! I'd return in a heartbeat!

I just loved it....always a happy welcome. I had the suggested dumplings ( meat filled and grilled) oh hapoy days....they were juicy and fat and I inhaled a big plate full. If I was'nt on my lunch break Id have stayed for a snooze and woke up to repeat the experience. I shall be back!!.

Had been in here many times over the last few years always found it friendly and great atmosphere best coffee fort William had to offer until today was so disappointed with service coffee was horrible cake stale panini half filled and what salad you got on the side was limp to say the least not sure if the place has changed hands as was not the smaller gentleman who was here in the past when we were in but definitely not changed for the better will not be back.

Waited an hour for our soup which arrived cold, other members of the group ordered the pannins which were very small, a baked potato that was small with both having a very little filling. The service was very slow, the staff were distracted and seemed disinterested, there are far better places to eat very close by. Avoid!

Mean with fillings, unbelievably slow service, ignored by waiting staff, expensive and probably the worst cafe in town.

The tea was lovely but the cakes, all three were stale. I should have known the scone wasn't fresh when they heated it up without asking.....!

Alright I guess although I was extremely disappointed with the passionfruit cake I got, it was not fresh at all the sponge was dry, only good thing was the actual flavour of the jam, cup of tea was good, that's about it!

Just back from a very busy Fort William where trying to get something to eat was not easy there were a few we tried and the Aroma was exceptional to say the least clean tidy great food and prices lovely staff too well worth trying to get in... on the opposite side of the street from weatherspoons ....which everyone should avoid as its the complete opposite

本来因为整个威廉堡都满人，想进aroma买咖啡蛋糕吃一下结果发现居然是一家茶餐厅！开心的点了牛肉面炒饭春卷之类的！真的很好吃！特别是体验过另一家中餐之后，对此aroma真的神仙！和老板娘表示好吃的时候得知了牛肉面是老板专门和东北面师学的擀面！牛肉给的很多，面条也绵柔入味，汤底清清爽爽，加上点睛之笔的榨菜，我是真得吃哭了！感谢Aroma给我高地之旅有了一个美好的饮食回忆，希望Aroma生意兴隆，老板老板娘身体健康！

Aroma was recommended by the lady in the bookshop. Having dined at Crannog on Thursday evening and The Cabin in Mallaig Friday lunchtime this was different. And how so pleasantly so. Go for it - fantastic food.

De service is niet een van de snelste maar als je dan eenmaal besteld heb is het eten redelijk snel op tafel en het smaakt goed.

Hier hebben we vanavond chinees gegeten. Het was zoals verwacht, lekker maar geen topkwaliteit.

Llamamos por un café y un bollo. No tan ocupado pero esperamos al menos 20 minutos. La razón por la que vi fue que la chica en la caja registradora simplemente tomó las órdenes (por lo que ella le pedía al hombre que la revisara y enmendara). Y el hombre hizo todo lo demás, haciendo café, cortando pasteles, sirviendo y limpiando mesas. Seguramente la joven podría haber tomado las órdenes y el pago y luego haber servido la comida, mientras que el hombre se concentró en las bebidas.

Cafe Aroma no fue exactamente lo que esperábamos. Pedí la sopa de tofu y algas de la amplia variedad y mi novio tenía un panini de cerdo tirado. Normalmente comía cualquier cosa, pero la sopa era como una gelatina y no podía comerla. Lo devolví, pero no se hizo ningún intento de ofrecer un reemplazo o un reembolso. Mi novio pagó 7. 20 para el panini que era muy pequeño y tenía muy poca carne de cerdo dentro. Probablemente no vuelva.

Lovely little coffee shop with beautiful views over the loch. We didn’t eat which is why we only gave 4 stars but the coffees and hot chocolates were to die for! Will visit again when I return to Scotland.

Fue a tomar un café y pastel, pero no fue inspirado por la selección de pastel / galletas. Mi Latte estaba ciertamente por debajo del promedio y no lo terminé. La vista desde la parte posterior de la cafetería es excelente, pero tendría que mejorar el café antes de volver.

Plenty!, Plenty!, Plenty of choice, this is the second time in the Aroma establishment, its really worth a wee visit, Pleasant staff, Clean airy place, great atmosphere, superb choice of meals or lighter snacks, good value for the money, get yourselves in there and enjoy.

Gran vista desde la ventana en la parte de atrás, pero tristemente caro para comida normal. El servicio era bueno, pero lamentablemente no tenía lo que pedimos y tuvimos que cambiar a algo más barato, diferencia de precio 1. 20 que no fue devuelto. Lo suficientemente agradable para una comida rápida, pero lamentablemente no para mí. No hay servicio de mesa, solo ordena en el mostrador y la comida es llevada a la mesa por el personal. Los menús no están en la mesa, lo cual es una pena, así que ordena antes de sentarte.

What a great little gem, we were just walking down the Main Street looking for a lite bite to eat around 19:00hrs and this place was still open. We had fish and chips with a mug of tea each. Great valve and quick service. We sat in the back looking out the large picture window very attentive staff and reasonable priced.

Great selection of cakes, especially good was the chocolate orange cake, salted caramel muffins, lemon drizzle and Belgium chocolate cake. Good service and Hot drinks as well

Bom, sanduíche gostoso, lugar limpo. Familiar, estávamos com frio e queríamos algo para tapear o estômago até o jantar.

Had coffee and a salted caramel muffin, the boss had a fruit scone. All good, a nice clean place on a cold day. Service was quick and friendly. Will return.

What strange fusion establishment is this: a coffee shop and take-away Chinese? It’s clean and quite bright, with a bar (coffee) with a view out across the loch where you can watch the rain squalls sweeping in. The coffee and cakes are very acceptable, fair price. The service is, well, a bit different, but no doubt you could get used to that.

Staff (family?) were..brisk but not welcoming - and our waitress appeared to be not on this Earth. Sullen & uncommunicative. At the counter I ordered and paid for a 'club' sandwich. A couple of bites was enough. Not great. Didn't complain though as I suppose it's a subjective experience, so left it and just went elsewhere.

On the plus side the coffee is good.

First time visiting Aroma it smells great as you walk in & there is plenty of choice when it comes to food & drink, we both ordered a panini to eat in i had a caramel latte & the wife had a cold drink, the drink were a little slow to arrive as we had already received our food & eaten half of it but to be fair it was busy & both the food & drinks were very nice, we would defiantly go back

Mmmmm just finished thee best Chinese takeaway I’ve had in Fort William. The food was perfect !!! Staff were friendly and helpful also. I’ll definitely be ordering more next weekend.

Who would expect a Chinese meal in a cafe/restaurant? It was excellent. Great taste, good quantity, reasonable price, with excellent service. I highly recommend here for dinner, but get in before the 9pm close.

I went in to pick up something for lunch and asked if they did take away, which they did. Ordered a baked potato at the cost of £6.50 which I though was pushing it a bit, so I expected a decent size side salad with maybe fresh leaves and such but I basically received a potato with a garnish of uninspired iceberg.... the coleslaw again was of poor quality. I wouldn’t have minded at all if they had only charged maybe £3-£3.50 as it was take away. Just not cool.

My husband & I had the cookie crusted banoffee cheesecake & salted chocolate fudge cake (£3 each) & Americano £1. 90 & large latte £2.80 between us on a Sunday around 4pm. The salted chocolate fudge cake was the better of the two cakes. My husband would have drank a large Americano however only had option of regular. We were happy with the cakes however very little animation from staff & smiles were thin on the ground.

Popped in past for cake and was delighted to find they had a gluten free carrot cake! It was delicious - so much so that I returned again the next day. A lovely local coffee shop with great staff. Well worth a visit.

Poor quality food and missing delivery items. Very disappointing. 13pounds for a very tiny soup and a basic fry rice. Taste awful. Conning restaurant.

We stopped for a Coffee whilst on a quick visit to town. The coffee itself was nice enough, but the staff at the counter seemed disinterested in taking our order. Would go back for another brew and some cake to see if it was an off day before making a final decision.

To be honest we ended up in Aroma because the Wildcat cafe further down the high street was full and the kids needed a snack.

The food was OK. The scampi was bland but the club sandwich really good. The owner was hardworking and friendly but the waitress was very sullen. She really does jot like her job. The cleanliness, esp in the bathroom, below par.

Where do I start.....the honey roast pork?. The pork noodles?. The chicken fried rice?. The kung po?. The service , the coffee, the banofee cheesecake....Im moving in!. I love this place . Its small, inviting, and has a beautiful view of Loch Linnhe and the hills. £8.50 for honey roast pork , large portion of boiked rice and steamed greens....nowhere else in Fort William does those prices. Its so fresh and hot.

Came in for dinner on Saturday with my partner, had the honey roast pork and egg fried rice, was by far the best Chinese meal I've had for a long while, tasted so fresh, pork was delicious. My partner had the salt and pepper chicken and was very impressed, best hes come across yet. service was great, very welcoming and attentive, can't wait to go back and try more off the menu.

I felt unwelcome, we asked for two soft drinks. We had to pay by cash which is fine but I wish we would’ve had seen the sign (which was in tiny writing by the counter). The lady gave us two bottles without a glass or ice. We sat down and as soon as we did they started closing the shutter. It was a bit of a suprise. I wish they would’ve let us know they were about to close as we wanted to sit in. We left without a goodbye leaving a bad taste.

What a gem of a fined can not recommend this place enough friendly atmosphere girl who served me was polite and smiley as was the man who gave me my coffee only down side was slightly over priced but was the best coffee I have had in Scotland

Nice little cafe tucked away out of the main road of Fort William. Nice variety of cakes and sandwiches. We were sweet-hungry, so got two chocolates as drinks - too smooth and liquid for our taste - and two slices of gf cakes. Carrot cake was delicious, mango and passionfruit cheesecake too sweet and could not live up to expectations. Overall fine place but could taste better!

Food was good quality, tasted nice, although the "mild" dishes were much spicier than I have had at other restaurants. The service also was not fantastic. Although staff were friendly and willing to help, they were not attentive. We waited a long time for someone to take our drinks order & there was a waiter standing at the back of the restaurant on his phone for much of the time. Also, our party - the only people in the restaurant - were left alone & seemingly forgotten about for a very long time after our meal was over, maybe around 20-30mins, so there was no one to ask for the bill.

Myself, partner and little boy went to visit this cafe as the cakes looked amazing and it looked busy which is usually a good sign. Don't get me wrong the drinks and cakes were amazing, initial service was fast and efficient with drinks and food bought over to the table.

Ordered a Cheese & Ham Panini and a Cheese Toastie....not much to get wrong you would think! Both came with a small chopped up piece of iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato..side salad it claimed...really? A dollop of coleslaw but no crisps. The cheese in the Panini wasn't melted and the toastie was basic cheap white bread. With just a few minor changes it could have looked and tasted so much better. We won't be back.
