excellent meal today this is exactly what inverness needed

We had such a lovely meal tonight at the snow goose. Our server was Hally, she had such a lovely bubbly personality. We went for the weekend menu and the pork belly was particularly good so shout out to the chefs Ryan and Selena for that! The lemon tart was just that, a bit on the tart side but a nice palate cleanser at the end of our meal and you can’t beat a bit of sticky toffee pud! All in all a great meal and would recommend! Definitely be back 😁

The snow goose is a wonderful restaurant that I've been going to for years, the food is consistently the best in Inverness and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Tonight I was served by Nicole who went above and beyond to make sure it was a good evening of food, drink, and snacks. I will continue to visit and hope others will give it a shot even if it's a bit out of the way.

Good choice of food, nice and relaxed atmosphere, great service from Sylwia and Nicole, food tasty and well sized portions.

Great service from Nix, have been served by her a few times before and always receive 5 star service. The food cooked by Claire was lovely too.

Nicole was amazing with her service and attention. Chef Ryan provides delicious dishes. We and the fish and chips,chicken sandwich and scallops with prawns.

No sauces delivered with order, ordered peppercorn for the steak and bbq with the snack and got nothing.

The service, at the table and the till, left a lot to be desired.

Went back to Snow goose a week after our first visit also on a Sunday night (see prior review at bottom) hoping to repeat the experience but alas very disappointed. Firstly the starter of crispy chicken had pieces that were cold in the middle and had to be sent back. The second time round it was fine. Had ordered haddock again ( see below) and it also came out undercooked- a bit soft and slightly translucent rather than flaky - had to send that back. Another piece of haddock was brought out table and i could see it hadn't been cooked properly as the batter was too brown and still a bit oily - obviously had been fried in oil that was too hot and for too short a time. Cut into that and it was clearly undercooked - pinkish and soft in places. Manageress came over and was apologetic so agreed to give up on the haddock and ordered a chicken pie which was okay. Waitress throughout was very good and professional i.e polite and understanding no hesitation in replacing the obviously unsatisfactory dishes. Manageress also very good and I think a bit embarrassed by the problems. All my food orders were taken off the bill ( including the crispy chicken and the pie) to make amends. So there were some very significant failings in the kitchen that night but the front of house staff did all they could to make amends Never in 45+ years of eating out have i had to send back three dishes, even my wifes calamari starters was only marginally warm enough, so have revised my original 4 stars review down to 1 stars which is a pity. -- Original 4 * review from previous week---- Food was pretty good pub food the haddock was good as were the garlic mushrooms. Nice decor - service friendly and started well but they sort of took their eye off the ball towards end of meal despite/ because of it being pretty quiet

Come to the snow goose this afternoon for lunch! Abby was our waitress and what a credit to the company she is! Very polite and couldn't have been more helpful! Will defiantly be coming again! Thank you x

Dreadful meal. The calamari was mostly greasy batter with a slither of calamari. The chicken in the salad was inedible as it was bone dry. The staff were very pleasant.

Thanks Keira for fitting us in for a lovely dinner. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable, and Ryan's cooking was very tasty.

Been here three times now for Sunday roast, it's so good! So many options, I highly recommend the lamb roast. The restaurant is so cosy and homely, and there is plenty of free parking. Their desserts are great, especially the banana choux bun!

Beautiful meal, I loved my burger, others on table enjoyed their lasagne, fish and macaroni. Finished off with beautiful crumble and custard. Chef was apparently Luke- fab food. Keira our waitress- cannot fault

Good solid food, efficiently served in a pleasant family friendly atmosphere. Well looked after by Holly who delighted our four old by bringing a plate of carrot for his favourite toy bunny, and then drawing a sweet picture of bunny. Good work!

took the wife to the the snow goose for valentines day had to wait 30 minutes for the food i had the special burger and the wife had the sea bass. the burger was piping hot u could tell it had microwaved i got 2 small onion rings and a cup of chips thay didnt offer any sauces of vinegar the buger bum was wet and soggy very poor. the wifes seabass was no better it was given in a big bowl mixed veg everything was dry the fish was over cooked and the king pron had a funny tasre to it it was was very poor and the sticky toffe puddin was very poor as i was given no option of ice cream i was give custard that was dissapointed wouldnt go there again its not how i remenber it. just a heads up the day after the 15/2/2025 my wife was very stomach ache and cramps and severe diarreah and she is still very ill the prawns were smellin and tastein fishy very poor

Unexpected visit to Inverness and booked at last minute. The food was very nice thanks to Luke (usually I’m very critical), our waitress Emma was excellent and never batted an eyelid when a glass smashed on the floor- not even a sly eye roll! The staff were very very busy however I still felt that the service was excellent, professional and super friendly. The snow goose and vintage inns should be proud of their staff. We will return in the near future.

We had a lovely meal at the Snow Goose. Rather disappointed at first to be sitting in the conservatory part with a cold draft around my ears. Emma was on hand though and soon sorted it. We ended up in a, cosy corner enjoying the most delicious Hunters Chicken. The evening was saved. Thanks to Luke for the food. We will be back.

The food the service the atmosphere is impeccable, I have never ate at a better restaurant/bar in my life. I was getting served by a young Scottish handsome individual behind the bar and his skills and pint pouring technique was outstanding I was in shock I am never going anywhere ever again!!

Valentine’s Day evening meal. Thank goodness we booked. What an amazing and wonderful place. The service was excellent, Tom went out of his way to ensure that everything was perfect. Food was cooked to perfection. The menu selection was really good. Every member of staff was rushed off their feet, but they still managed to smile and deliver. I felt very sorry for the manager as many, many people just “turned up” hoping for a table, he unfortunately had to turn them away as the place was fully booked. Yes there were empty tables, but they had been reserved. Surely the majority of people realise that to be able to dine out on Valentine’s evening a booking is a must, you wouldn’t just turn up on Mothering Sunday or Christmas Day for lunch without booking a table.

Lovely comfortable pub with good food. We had the Valentines menu (3 courses for £30) Emma the waitress was attentive , friendly and professional. Ryan our chef provided us with a lovely meal. Not our first visit and won't be the last.

Wrong items delivered and when I called the restaurant they asked if the food could be returned so it could be sent to the intended customer. Shocking that they planned to send the same food to the intended customer despite it being cold and delivered to the wrong address.

Had the signature burger which was massively overcooked and very dry. Both the burger and the chips weren't very hot, pretty disappointing.

Meal was OK but didn't get all 4 meals at the same time. Had to wait a wee while for the 4th plate with no reason for delay. Colas were flat and had to be changed and overall bit pricey. No atmosphere in the room. Maybe we were in the wrong part and easily forgotten. Put me off trying it again.

We really enjoyed our meal. My husband had the beef lasagne and I had the Sirloin steak. Both meals were delicious and the steak was tender with lots of flavour.

We went in for dinner and there were 4 adults and 2 kids. We were greeted by a lady who gave the kids some menus and colouring in on the back. We were then sat in the dog area (meanwhile the whole restaurant was empty). After asking to move, we were told this was the only spot for all of us. We were told their Sunday Roast and Pie was sold out and this was at 6.45pm- even after wanting to order pork belly or a vegetarian Wellington, they also were sold out!! After ordering just a couple of entrees and desserts for dinner, it came out and was not even edible aside from the soup. Chorizo was that burnt it was black. Can't even comment on the rest. We did mention to.our waiter but didn't seem to care

Great Place!! Staff listen to your order asked for fish and chips without peas and that’s exactly what I got!! Lovely open fire very homely feel to it. Noticed dogs are allowed in the bar area where you can eat so next time I visit I shall be taking my dog.

Lovely for a meal just after the cinema. Highly recommend the fish cakes and the fish and chips. A few more pescatarian options though would be appreciated.

Kinda disappointed with the food from here never any problems before but due to dietary problems I can’t eat anything with sauce I phoned the restaurant and explained they were happy and when I got my dinner the burger was full of the stuff, I phoned the restaurant back and spoke to someone who couldn’t be anymore helpful I re ordered again but seems to be the same problem unfortunately

We were sat at table just outside kitchen door, that door is needing oiled, I booked this table 24 hours before visit thinking it would be busy and it was empty and still they sat us at this terrible placed table with lots of empty tables in a better place the food was ok but the service was not good as Lewis the server came to clear table before my elderly father with dementia was finished, no apologies very disappointed

Food was horrible. We went with an autistic child and was asked to sit somewhere quiet. Waitress said it was too busy and that no where was quiet until a waiter stepped in and let us sit in a quiet place. Beware of that waitress

We had a wonderful time, there is no complaint and everything was done nicely. And it was such a cozy atmosphere. It was snowing outside and the fires were going inside, just lovely.

Food tasted very good and nicely presented. .Good atmosphere with a nice open log fire. Personally I would have liked my main course to have been a tad hotter. Hence four stars. But on the whole a postive experience and will definately visit again in the future.

Very nice meal, three courses Christmas meal for £29.50. Id highly recommend it. The service was polite and friendly.

Reasonable service but disappointing food. Pizza was like flatbread with tomato sauce, 3 lumps of cheese and cut up chicken chucked on top. Sides of red cabbage and Brussel sprouts ok but all other menu items ordered were disappointing.

We stayed in a nearby hotel and decided to dine & have drinks here as it was only a few minutes walk so no need for buses or taxis on cold winter evenings. We dined here three nights and have no complaints about any of the food we ordered. However the drink mixer (diet coke) was on the expensive side when compared to our local hostelries. That said, the Snowgoose is a firm favourite with us and we will visit again.

I'd like to compliment Nicole. Twice now she has been so accommodating. Very friendly! Highly recommend the food also.

First time bk in 20 years Lovely place Staff extremely attentive Starter of smoked salmon and prawn cocktail was OK The main ...Unfortunately the beef and venison pie looked lovely but the meat was very tough inside 😕 pretty rank smell from it also The sides we got were roasted herb and garlic potatoes and pigs and blankets Both not our cup of tea 🤮 The server removed our plates and didn't charge us We were Offered another meal which we accepted but unfortunately the damage was already done ( totally put off) Also didn't charge Very thankful to our server But think it would be another 20yrs before entering the place again

Went for a boat club xmas dinner. Could find no fault.

Came for a soft drink and didn’t eat, quick to get seated but the table was really wobbly. Bought 2 soft drinks and we were charged £9! On questioning the price the young server had such an attitude I just payed the money and sat down. Not sure when soft drinks became more expensive than alcohol and considering the location of this pub most people would need a driver to get here so wouldn’t be drinking? Lovely atmosphere in the pub but would not come again based on this experience

The Christmas Sunday roast was delicious. the cauliflower cheese was the only thing I didn't enjoy.... Servers are lovely and will always try to accommodate.

Food was disappointing tbh. The prawn and chorizo starter was burnt and dry.. Ie they'd cooked it's off so long there was no oil attack all in the pan and then dish. The kids chicken nuggets were bulletproof and as a consequence my daughter wasn't interested. Service was pleasant and friendly... Had a good time. Did what it needed to, but we'd like the food to be better at 30 per head...

I would highlight that the entrance staff can take a long while to get you seated even if you have booked. Apart from that staff are more than helpful once you have seated down. The food choice is excellent! I went for the salad while my colleague had the fish pie. We both throughly enjoyed our meal thanks to the chef Ryan. The waitress Shelley was more than helpful and attentive during our meal. *side note on the menu it does say there will be a service charge of 12% for 8+ guests only.

Very poor food a few cold chips and hunters chicken thin and very crispy, served on large plate with few leafs of lettuce to make it look good. Service bad, had to ask for everything and cluttered table at the door where staff sat not very inviting.

Food quality was really poor for the price paid. I understand people ordering delivery might not be seen as important as people in the restaurant but the Sunday trio portion received was embarrassing. Almost like nobody really cared what they were sending, most vegetables were just mush. The roast potatoes were soggy inside but tough to cut. Partner enjoyed the vegetable wellington so that’s something I guess. Really disappointed.

We visit the Snow Goose several times a year and we’re always satisfied with everything.

Great place to catch up with friends for food or just a drink.
