This was an amazing bar and the lady was so lovely, it's little cozy and snuggling bar where you can enjoy the dram or so.

Typical pub in the area, the service is very good, a wide variety of beers, drinks, etc., the prices are affordable.

Nice enough pub and very welcoming bar-person. Booked this primarily for food as the website showed a reasonable selection of pub-grub. Arrived and no sign of anyone eating (with hindsight, 1st red flag). Ordered our drinks then led through to "the restaurant" - an adjacent Turkish restaurant called Lale with extortionate prices. Ordered fish and chips at £17 a head - the worst I've ever encountered in my my 57 years! Limp carcass of a fish with oven chips and"salad" - a ramekin with a bit of dry lettuce and chopped pepper. Only tartare sauce was in a little plastic sachet. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Checked out this place in Inverness after being shunned at other places due to stag and hen nights. Cosy and friendly. The sea bass was excellent as was the fish and chips. Friendly service . Worth a check out!

This is a most welcoming pub which made us feel at home. The female member off staff was very accomodating. Then things turned., .. Served by an older barman who also seemed very polite to start... Then because he poured the wrong drink his attitude changed and then thought it would be nice to make us in the wrong due to customers complaining, however already speaking to whom the customers in which were concerned and actually did not complain were very friendly. I apologised to all in behalf off everyone as the barman had made up his mind that we were not suited. Left feeling so disappointed in an experience that could have been so good. After being asked to leave we went to the Highlander and had a very welcoming and great experience. Highly recommend!!! Staff and atmosphere amazing.

Grew up in the area. I know this pub waaaayyyy back Times have changed. Mediterranean food served next door in the restaurant But the bar is still the same. Good whisky ale and nice staff

It's Sunday 2 Oct at 1330. Website states 1200 opening, Google specifies 1300 but still closed. Forced to visit McGregors instead....

Well...pleasantly surprised!! Food was delicious ..piping hot and beautifully cooked. Excellent squid and the lamb was tender and seasoned perfectly. Salads were fresh, crisp and tasty. Loved the chilli dip! Attentive staff and very pleasant. Recommended!!

Nice pub good table service due to covid restrictions,I think good place to try at weekend.

In non-covid times I could see why this place is so highly regarded by CAMRA.

If you're looking for real cask ale in Inverness, visit here and don't bother with anywhere else. Came here to watch the England game and had some good banter with the staff and local customers. The barman was attentive, friendly and couldn't of been more helpful. Prices are very reasonable for a city centre pub and there was no complicated app or over the top COVID restrictions to deal with.

Was a bit pessimistic about being an English man watching the euro final in Inverness but this pub was great. The old boy behind the bar was good craic and attentive. Good offer of well kept cask at a fair price. Lots of tvs to view from and friendly customers all round.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. Front bar hasn't changed which is lovely. New restaurant is wonder, highly recommend. Staff are lovely and attentive. Please go folks!!

Went to the new restaurant on the side of the pub-la le Seems very quiet during weekdays, however didn't detract from the food. Really enjoyed it and everything was nicely cooked. Seafood platter is a must buy and the vegetarian options were fantastic too. Waiters were polite and attentive, would say it's better than aspendos

I went to the Phoenix for a Pub meal while in Inverness wayy back in '93. They offered the usual pub fare but the barman asked me "If I was up for it, they had award winning Haggis served the proper way". He said their haggis was made by a lady who won awards all over Scotland for her haggis. How could I pass up on an opportunity like that. The meal arrived and came with Tatties and Neeps as promised and was amazing. It was everything I could do not to order another full meal of that wonderful haggis. WOW. I have no idea if they still offer a good haggis as I'm sure the lady who made the one I had is not doing it anymore. I hope they have found a comparable replacement. I have talked about that meal many times in the years since but never let the Phoenix Ale House know how incredible it was. A well-poured pint and the possibility of award-winning food! Who wouldn't want to go here? Will Merrett Canada

Great place, great food, great atmosphere

Husband often called in here whilst waiting to catch his bus home as it is close to the station. We popped in recently and had a couple of drinks. The bar is an old school oval shape in the centre of the room and hasn't changed apart from some decor upgrades. Staff were friendly and drinks reasonably priced.

Recommended by my cousin. Little bar of locals. Back bar and restaurant was great. Staff so helpful and food was very tasty. Would definitely recommend. 👍

A great friendly local located just a minute's walk from two modern chain hotels (Travelodge and Penta hotel). While I was the only visitor both times I visited, the owner and his wife made me feel welcome. It will be a must return visit whenever I am staying in Inverness.

Good bar staff and owner had good repoitre with regulars, maybe at the exclusion of visitors but great bar all the same .

Great old pub with central circular bar in public bar which has character. Some interesting historical stuff on the walls .Reasonable prices and no loud music so able to have a conversation. Food was being served and looked nice (but we had already eaten ) went to toilet and found a lovely function area with comfortable seating and a buffet .The company we’re having fun with a great atmosphere.

This is a very traditional pub with local beers and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay here very much. It is not a party location and perfect to enkoy a few beers with friends and have a good chat.

Great historic pub with great beer.

After a long day in the hills when I was soaked through and cold throughout I was looking forward to some hot food. We chose the Phoenix as we wanted a good ale to accompany the meal. The ale was good, although quite a few items from the menu weren't available, so I ended up settling for a burger, which was okay.

Entramos porque era lo único abierto de comida tradicional. La camarera encantadora y el ambiente muy bien pero la cocina deja bastante que desear, todo muy caro para los platos que son y la calidad que tienen. Lo recomiendo para tomar unas pintas ya que el ambiente es agradable pero mejor cenar en otra parte.

I would give it a second chance if I ever came back to Inverness, but tonight was poor. Very quiet (Sunday @ 7pm). 5 hand pumps on but a fairly average choice between them. Tried three but all three were a bit “off”. Probably because the pub had been quiet all day and the ale hadn’t been moving. Not sure how long it had been since the beers were “tapped” but it felt as though it had been stood for some time. No food taken, as we’d already eaten, so no review on that. Not the best Alehouse, based on today’s experience.

After being handed a paper fiver from isle of man from the barman, I asked him to change this as the note is not legal in the UK except in isle of man, he initially refused, then he gave me 5 pound coins, the gave a load of sarcasim about this, he tried to correct me when I asked for a plastic fiver, by saying it was polyurethane notes, actually having qualifications in chemistry they are made of biaxially orientated polypropylene(BOPP), I did not argue the point as I was on the point of losing my temper, I was in my legal rights to ask for currency which is legal in the UK, but got a load of dogs abuse instead, I will not recommend or go into this pub to anyone with that person serving behind the bar, which is shame as I have been drinking in the bar on and off since I was 18

We stopped in the pub not expecting such absolutely delicious food. The mushroom soup was the best I've had anywhere. The steak pie was so tender and delicious. We were full but couldn't leave without trying dessert The homemade ice cream was creamy and wonderful. The chef himself served us and was so nice.

Nice pub to visit when visiting Inverness. Ended up there twice during our two day stop in Inverness. I must proclaim that I am not a big gin drinker but was introduced to Scottish gin and my wife and I ended up having a few drinks. Interested to find out that the lemonade in Scotland is clear, unlike the lemonade we typically have back home. Liked the gin we tried so much that we grabbed a couple of bottles at the duty free shop in the Glasgow airport to take back to Canada.

Pub situé à côté de notre hôtel. Ouvert le soir. Nourriture écossaise bonne. Service très sympathique et le pub est juste magnifique. A faire pour tt ceux qui veulent tester l ambiance pub. Ah et ils acceptent les enfants

called on Saturday night 13/7/19 pub not busy .wited at least 5 mins to get served. barmaid finished serving customer. then stopped to chat to some one. man behind bar just stood talking to 2 females felt wer where not made wellcome

Excellente schottische Küche, perfekt gekocht. Sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr leckeres Craft Beer aus der Region.

Sehr gutes Essen. Das "haunch of venion" war hervorragend und auch der "local haddock" sehr gut.

No es un pub emocionante pero genial ninguno igual. Mesas tranquilas y espaciosas. Una buena selección de cervezas y está bien explicada por el amable y servicial publicano. Recomiendo este lugar. Las cervezas eran alrededor de 4 libras de un pop. (Vi personas pidiendo comidas entre los tiempos 12 - 2 y 6 - 8)

This place is awesome! Mac and cheese is definitely not from the box, and the venison is excellent! Owner is so hospitable! A little off the beaten path, but I highly recommend!
