Ate here for three consecutive evenings. My husband has Coeliac Disease so needed gluten free food. He said the gluten free fish & chips was so good that he had it 2 evenings running. my favourite meal was 2 starters eaten as one main. Otherwise the other meals were fine but not exceptional. Service was ok. Only 2 places open for evening meals in Lochcarron so choice is limited and the other venue was quite expensive.

One good point was that The Host was friendly and bar staff fine apart from one who seemed miserable. After a few drinks we had a meal. We were 2 couples, ordered our food, me and my Wife ordered 10 minutes before our friends but my wife’s meal arrived after. a basic pub type meal but not a problem. However I didn’t receive my meal. I questioned this and they said I’d only paid for one meal. so I showed them proof through my bank details as they didn’t give me a receipt. When the food came, a basic Scampi meal, the food was average and the so called chips were like scraps from a chip shop. I was waiting nearly an hour for my meal, while the others with me had obviously finished theirs. To sum up, this place was OK for a drink but if you’re hungry and want food. I’d give it a miss. Poor service.

This was a genuine Scottish experience. Yes, it's a little rustic....don't expect 5* plating. The food was fresh and home made. My scampi with homemade tartar sauce was delicious. My husband was feeling a little unwell and was offered homemade tomato soup...my goodness the best I've ever tasted. The views from dining room over the Loch are stunning, however don't miss the banter of the locals in the bar 😆 Real Scottish hospitality from staff and locals.

Don't believe the review from 2 weeks ago that says there are no evening meals and that the hotel is not licensed. Rubbish! Food was being served tonight and the hotel has 2 licensed bars. I'd have given more stars but the barman poured all the tonic into my wife's gin which is a big no-no apparently!! 😂

We were out for a meal celebration our 30th Wedding Anniversary and decided to choose the Loch Carron Hotel Restaurant. We were not let down the food was very good! My wife had the fish n chips and were excellent, my dish the pulled pork on beef burger with fries was also excellent. I had a dessert the Apple Crumble with cinnamon and topped with ice cream was sublime. Lovely place and staff would recommend a visit.

We dropped in here unexpectedly as our car had to come in for emergency repairs in the nearby garage. We were made welcome by the landlord and lady, and had a couple of drinks in the bar before dinner service started at 5.30pm. I was struck by how welcoming the atmosphere was there. There were clearly regulars who lived in the village, who were very friendly and mixed freely with the tourists and visitors like us. The staff were jovial and hospitable to everyone. The food was top-notch and there was a decent selection of beers and ales. There was also a stunning view of the loch out of the window. Although we hadn't originally planned on going there we'd love to come back again one day.

As it is the only place open in Loch Carron, they have a captive audience. We were completing the North Coast 500 and had little option to stay. The room cost us £130 including breakfast. The bedroom was in dire need of a refurb and modernising. The whole place was tired and unkept. I didn’t like the mould on the tiles in the over bath shower. Having said that the dinner we had was excellent (we had no choice to dine anywhere else, all closed) - we both had slow roasted pork belly with vegetables and mash. It was delicious. The breakfast was also good and hearty.

Staying at a campsite nearby for the night, we opted to go here for dinner, but have to say we regretted our decision. Upon entry, the place looked tired and dated, hand sanitisers were empty and there was a whiff of chip oil in the air and a vaccuum cleaner propped in the corner. The menu wasn't very appealing, but whilst we should have known better, we'd bought our drinks by then so decided to stay and take our chances. I chose the beef chilli with nachos and rice; asked for a garlic bread accompaniment, but apparently could only have this if I had lasagne - not very accommodating. When it came, it was a very small portion of chilli on a bed of pilau rice and some dry tortilla chips from a packet. My husband had pork schnitzel, but instead of a breaded pork loin/cutlet, it was a breaded pork chop complete with fat and bone, served with frozen chips and a couple of gherkins and pickled onions from a jar. My granddaughter wanted a plain chicken burger, but again, could only have it with either a cajun or katsu sauce, which she didn't like. Also, the toilets were none too clean - cobwebs everywhere, door wedged open and a broken toilet seat. The only nice thing about the place was the view. Three meals and three drinks came to £61, so it wasn't even cheap. All very disappointing and one to avoid.

We arrived in pouring rain, pitched our tent (in the nearby campsite) and then crossed our fingers that the hotel was serving food. YES it was! It was a Monday night in the height of summer but everywhere else was closed; thank goodness that The new Lochcarron Hotel owners realise how much a traveller appreciates a warm welcome. Service was friendly and efficient and my fish was so fresh! I also had one of the beers from their local micro brewery. The bar man was helpful and offered a taste to help me decide before buying. Next morning I crossed my fingers again and popped into the hotel to ask if I could buy two cups of filter coffee to take away. YES ...How fantastic was that! We had camped with only a tent so I was so very appreciative that new owner, Niven, was only too happy to provide us with decent cup of coffee to get me started on the next leg of our journey. Big thanks to Niven and team.

We got a table despite not having booked. The waitress was very friendly and chatty. We were disappointed that there were no langoustines available but we’re told there would be the following day. The food came incredibly quickly - too quickly to have been cooked to order. The home cooked chips were frozen French fries. We had scampi and chips x2 and burger x2 and a sharing order of calamari. The food was fine - can’t really go wrong with what we ordered - but we just felt for what it was it was over priced. Felt cheap and cheerful but certainly wasn’t cheap. The waitress wore a mask and there was had sanitiser but no record taken of us for track and trace. Not sure the table spacing would comply either.

Decent food, but severely let down by the serving staff and atmosphere. The tables are not adequately spaced per current COVID regulations. Our waitress swore occasionally and shared vulgar stories with the regulars, and set a poor example that the men at the tables around us then followed - it felt like the wrong place to bring my young family. An older man who had been drinking approached us and inquired continually about my younger daughter (who recently finished cancer treatment and whom we were celebrating with by taking this holiday). He said that he disapproved of us not giving her dessert. He then insisted on buying her some strawberries from the restaurant. The staff sold him said strawberries and he brought them over and gave them to her, and the staff neglected to check what was going on.

We came for drinks and were planning on food. My boyfriend went to the bar and got served drinks. Half an hour later I went to the bar to the same member of staff (pink/purple hair) to be told it was table service only and he would come over. I sat down and watched all of the, presumably, locals get served at the bar. 20 minutes later, he still hadn't served us, so my boyfriend got up to ask to be served. We then asked to see the menu and were asked to sign a track and trace form (no idea why we weren't when we were having drinks inside) we were handed over a SCRUFFY notebook and pen to put our details on (great way to spread germs...) the table next to us got food and the lady asked for a starter as a main, with chips on the plate The same waiter brought out her dish without chips so she said she asked for chips and he said 'I've only got 2 hands' and then when they asked for saice he actually threw the sachets on their table. We decided not to eat there. It was extremely overpriced too. £12.50 for mac n cheese!! We asked twice to pay for our drinks and he eventually came. The older member of staff (maybe the owner?) was just wondering around talking and had a pint at one point. I understand the pink/purple haired waiter was very busy by himself but if you cannot hold your temper and have such a bad attitude then customer service is not for you!

I just went there with a group of friends (7 adults) and there was no space inside due to corvid regulation eventhiugh we phoned ahead to check if there is space and upon arriving 15 minutes later they declined. We decided to sit outside and continued to get poor service with rude, short answers (pink haired waiter with an attitude) . It was clear that they were not pleased with us there (we did look like a group of campers but were friendly and quiet).Furthermore, they insisted upon us sitting at seperate tables eventhough we were one house hold and we waited a very long time to get our take-away food. This food was tasteless and not worth the money they wanted from it (11 pounds for a little mac and cheese and 2 pieced of bread). At least it would have been decent to reduce the pricing to take-away prices. All in all we all understand this corvid-ridden times are hard for everyone but we felt disregarded and badly treaten. It was clear they knew that their food was our only chance for a warm meal so they could treat us as badly as they want.

Visited this evening for dinner and was not disappointed. Ignore the fact that the hotel appears a little aged on the outside. It appears to be a small family owned and run hotel. We received a friendly welcome and were quickly shown to the table we had booked. The food is better than the premises may suggest. Scallop n blackpudding starter dressed in garlic starter, mains chosen from the "specials" board- lamb shank and hunters chicken both served with clapshot, so so tasty. We just had to try dessert and we weren't disappointed as both the sticky toffee pudding and apple n blueberry crumble were delicious. It’s a family run hotel and the homemade desserts are made by the family, we had the triple chocolate brownie and it was lovely! This is not a 5 star hotel but for the price you pay and the friendly service it exceeded our expectations.

Went here for a drink and enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff in the bar. The chalked up seafood menu looked appetising so went back the following for a meal. Big mistake ! The food was pretty poor and overpriced.

We were doing the NC500 and decided that a quick breakfast would be good. We stopped here and the breakfast was..... after 60 seconds of mouth to mouth I managed to bring the bacon back to life! But the archeological society wasn’t prepared to take back their black pudding (advertised as haggis). The fried egg tried to hatch when eaten but the wafer thin toast was perfectly cooked!

We popped in here on a Sunday night after realizing that nothing else in town was open. We loved the view across the Loch and the service was friendly and appropriately attentive. We thought the food was good but that the price was a bit steep for a "non gourmet" experience. Having said that, I would certainly go back for a meal as I enjoyed the experience overall.

Having read all the negative reviews regarding this place, we were reluctant to eat there but as it is now the only establishment in the village with the Bistro shutting for the season, there was no other alternative if we wanted to eat out locally in an evening. The place itself could not only do with a complete refurbishment but also a good clean. The beer, my husband informed me, was delicious so some good points. As regards to the food, we both ordered fish and chips which were served to us within 5 minutes (which even a chip shop could not do), therefore confirming a microwave was in use in the kitchen. The lady who served us was very pleasant but it did get somewhat busy and I presume it was the landlord and landlady who came to assist her, both of which looked like they had just come in from digging the garden. A bit of a clean uniform or dress code for the staff would have been reassuring but they did not seem bothered even though the landlord continually rolled himself a cigarette inbetween serving. The glass of wine I ordered came in a little bottle and was supposed to be Chardonnay but not a good tasting one. The second one was served to me in a glass with bright red lipstick round the rim, which the landlord did apologize and provided me with a new one. There were linen napkins on the tables in the dining area which were coloured green, but they actually did smell of a rather unpleasant washing detergent, which meant you could not use them for the purpose they were for. The fish was not too bad and the chips were pleasant enough, we have had worse, but the mushy peas were nothing but liquid. We did not stay for any deserts and did not go back during our stay in Loch Carron, but as the pub and restaurant were extremely busy (due to the fact that it was the only place in the immediate area) I suspect the management do not see a need to spend any money on it, but if they did, it would make the diner's experience a lot more pleasant and pride themselves on good reviews. All in all not as bad as we had thought but not that good anyway.

We eat here tonight and although the food was ok the poor waitress was rushed off her feet. Very slow service. The whole place needs an upgrade, very 1970's shabby but sadly not chic. The prices are quite high too. Desert at nearly £8 for Apple crumble was way over the top. It is apparently made to order (when I make Apple crumble it takes about half an hour in the oven!) This was definitely microwaved as the bowl was very hot but the crumble cold in the middle. Such a shame it could be a good mine if run better.

Staying at the wee campsite and popped down the track to the hotel with our big pup for supper. He emptied the doggy toybox as we had a lovely supper. Busy restaurant and friendly bar. The local blinde ale was very good too. Would happily go back. Varied menu

We went to the hotel for food & a drink & it was very poor microwaved food. This place could be a goldmine if the food was better and the bar was tidied up a bit. Definitely would not recommend it to anyone

The hotel is on the road running along the lochside and the dining room and bar meals area have stunning views over the loch and the mountains. The service is quite quick and the food generally tasty and well-cooked. However, the whole place has a rather run down air about it and we could have done without several children and 2 dogs running around whilst we were eating. Prices are quite high.

We shared a Brie , ham and apple roll. It was very good and would have been to much for one of us. The salad it came with and chips were greasy. The ham was local and service good and friendly

I have family in Lochcarron and have been here many time with over the years. Sadly, many places including the Lochcarron hotel are completely ripping people off because of the north coast 500. The prices in the hotel are unbelievable and the quality is sub standard. We went in for a morning coffee on the Sunday and it was pretty poor. There Was also some staff member hoovering around the tables whilst we were sat there. We also had an evening meal here and it cost £32 for two diet cokes and two main courses which weren’t big enough to feed a mouse. My partner had fish and chips and I wish I had taken a photo as it cost fifteen pounds for a tiny fish, literally five chips and a tiny paper pot containing one teaspoon of mushy peas. My steak pie had about five chunks of meat with some shop bought frozen puff pastry dumped on the top and some vegetables which were definitely from a bag of frozen ones. The food arrived to our table within 5 minutes of ordering so it was clearly microwaved. Also a dog running riot around the restaurant. We ended up having to go and buy some snacks afterwards as we were still hungry and we are two people who don’t really eat that much. It’s a shame as the hotel used to be good and it’s just pathetic now. I couldn’t believe the prices they are charging. The bistro down the road is really excellent and you are much better down there. Delicious food and you get a decent plateful. The Applecross Inn is also amazing if you have time to venture in that direction.

Very disappointed with this venue . When we arrived at 12.50 we were greeted by a sea of dirty uncleared tables and a sign at the entrance saying that they were only open till one oclock that day . When I got the attention of a staff member to see if we could at least get a drink as they were according to the sign open till one all the very rude woman could do was point at the sign and mutter something about being to busy .very unpleasant thing to do to anyone but especially rude to someone in a wheelchair….we went for a walk and got drinks and ice cream at a little cafe on the other side of the canal . Walking back about an hour or so later the out side area was still a mess …won’t bother going here again

Truly the best experience!!! We stayed in a lovely room that was stocked with scrumptious snacks, had a cloud like bed, and the most amazing rain shower (I didn't want to get out). We had a Sunday Roast dinner downstairs in the pub area (so moody and lovely) and it was arguably the best meal I've ever had. The gravy....! Oh the gravy...! To top it off, Graham was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay and we couldn't have asked for a better person to connect with. 10 out of 10 recommend. Will absolutely come again.
