Had a terrible experience here. I booked this place for my partners 30th birthday meal (which I stated when booking) weeks in advance, however we arrived to find the pub was shut, despite having my booking confirmed and it stating online that it was open. I rang the number, the doorbell and knocked the door as I could hear people inside and was completely ignored, however as we were leaving the owner came out after a van arrived and a very suspicious transaction occurred. I asked the owner about why the pub was shut and that I had booked for my partners birthday. He was not apologetic in the slightest and told me that I should have received a text or email informing me it was closed, which I hadn't!! I would advise avoiding this pub at all costs as they do not care about the customers at all.

Gorgeous setting, sadly very mediocre food. Service lovely, great friendly waiters but the food is just not up to the mark. Expensive, small portions, they reckon they have hotel restaurant of the year in the central belt but on our experience I wouldn’t hold much to that accolade!

This is usually a welcome stop on the way to/ from the north but we were a bit disappointed this time. My partner ordered a cappucino but we weren't told that plant-based milk was charged at £1 extra! That's on top of an already expensive coffee. The macaroni pies look amazing and are made on the premises. However, despite the cheesy topping, there was virtually no cheese in the filling and as such the pie was a bit bland. Poor value.

Popped in for lunch on a dreary Friday. Our day was brightened by pleasant professional attentive staff and lovely food to boot. A lovely experience with good pricing and great value for money. I really enjoyed my burger and then cranachan washed down with earl grey tea and the wife enjoyed her toastie also followed by tea and cranachan - altogether a pleasant experience that really couldn’t be faulted. Thanks to all staff - would recommend and we’ll definitely be back

We went here after walking from Cobleland. Aberfoyle didn’t have a great choice and with two hungry children we stopped here. Staff were very friendly. The menu - chip shop or sandwiches etc. The sandwiches - plain white bread, fine. Nothing special. Children’s chicken nuggets and chips - chips tasted of old oil or potatoes. A single sausage was ordered too, however was just full of grease. Unfortunately could not be eaten. We don’t like leaving poor reviews and always look for the positives. Unfortunately the food really let the place down. Sad given the location and friendly staff.

Booked a table for dinner, shared mozzarella sticks and garlic mushrooms followed by delicious vegetarian haggis. Generous portions and indulgent dessert menu. All tastes catered for. We were immediately smitten by the charming proprietor and her staff, and by the traditional cosy interior. Look forward to returning soon. Just hope they never change.

It seemed promising from the outside but the food was just okay and the women working the pub/restaurant were not the friendliest. Neither was off putting but just not the warm and friendly vibe we had hoped for. I think this is a better place to watch a sporting event as evident later that night. Hardly anyone eating there but lots of people watching football. Here's the catch, there are really only two places to eat in town and if you did not have reservations at the hotel restaurant, then you basically are stuck here. If you have a choice, choose the hotel restaurant option.
