Quick seating. Good lunch choices. Homemade soup. Fish was large serving but not the best I have had while in Scotland. Homemade sandwiches to order

We went here after walking from Cobleland. Aberfoyle didn’t have a great choice and with two hungry children we stopped here. Staff were very friendly. The menu - chip shop or sandwiches etc. The sandwiches - plain white bread, fine. Nothing special. Children’s chicken nuggets and chips - chips tasted of old oil or potatoes. A single sausage was ordered too, however was just full of grease. Unfortunately could not be eaten. We don’t like leaving poor reviews and always look for the positives. Unfortunately the food really let the place down. Sad given the location and friendly staff.

We booked two nights here to go to a wedding nearby and my husband, who has mobility issues , rang at the time of booking to make sure there was a walk in shower and not too many steps. He was given no indications that either would be an issue. When we arrived we were given the key, shown the stairs and asked if we had any problem with them and the person then went back to the bar. 3 trips later up the 46 steps ( my husband can’t carry a bag and go up stairs) with the two bags and his suit, we settled into our incredibly basic room. The room smelt damp, the toilet seat was broken, the shower caddy was almost completely rusted and the soap dispenser that should have been attached to the wall somewhere was sitting on the shower caddy. The tea/coffee station consisted of 2 ancient mugs and a dirty spoon I had to go down to the bar to get some milk. When I took my shoes off I identified the source of the damp smell as the carpet was soggy. The ‘bistro’ turned out to be food from the chippy next door. After a few hours sleep on the sagging mattress I felt like I might never walk again and I found myself googling hotel rooms at 3 in the morning. We didn’t stay a second night. I wish I’d read the reviews here first. I can honestly say I’ve never stayed in such a horrible place.

We stayed one night here and it was more than enough. After staying in multiple places on our week trip in Scotland, this has been the worst. The room was very mediocre and the bathroom very basic and unclean. There was no soap in the shower and one towel for each person. The internet connection did not work in the room. The standard of the food at the pub was sub par. The service was mixed: some staff were helpful while others seemed to struggle to manage any more than 5 people at a time. The cook in the morning was kind and helped us get the number for a taxi.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Aberfoyle Inn. We were made very welcome from arrival, even though seemingly we are the very first to ask if we could bring our Parrot and a dog with us. The staff must have been amazed at such a request when booking but gave him lots of attention during our stay. The rooms were very clean, staff very friendly and the natives and tourists amazed to see a parrot in the bar. The chip shop next door does very good reasonably priced food. The only downside was that due to refurbishment the kitchen was closed, but we did get the offer of a breakfast pack. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again if going back to the area

Lovely staff, central location in a beautiful area. But the room was not at standard we normally see in our travels, and we use B&Bs a lot. Room very small. Windows would not shut and the road was noisy. The lock on the door was broken so unable to secure the room. Also lots of noise from adjoining room as we could follow their conversation clearly. Obviously the Inn is at a time of change, as kitchens were closed, but our host provided a bag of food for breakfast which wad thoughtful

Spent a night at the Aberfoyle Inn last Monday. I called afterwards but have not heard back. Our room round the back of the hotel was grotty, with considerable amounts of black mould in the corridor up and coffee stains on the furniture. Such a shame. The shower over the bath was fine, except because the ceiling is angled, it's impossible to stand up and no plug was provided so the shower required kneeling and crawling. Just a bit rubbish overall. The Faerie Inn and Station Café were excellent for food though and local bike rides were brilliant!

Arriving on foot on a very wet night 20 min after the kitchen closed in February we were welcomed by friendly staff who then made sure we got some food as there were no other options available that night in Aberfoyle. Great hospitality interesting setting with the old original shop fittings adding to the atmosphere.

I went to the Fish and chip shop - ok it was a wet Tuesday night in Aberfoyle - it said open until 8 - it was open when I drove past to park but it shut at 6.45. In the Aberfoyle Inn attached that did not have a single customer they said the chip shop was shut - when pointed out that signs said shut at 8pm young man went into back room then came out to say they shut for maintenance -- good reason if true - but clearly they do maintenance in the dark - there were no lights on !! If there was another alternative in the town then ok but this is only take away - so having driven 6 miles for no food to feed family this was not a positive experience. I guess a lie is a better attempt than saying they couldn't be bothered to provide their advertised service. Having just bought a local property I won't waste my time returning if they can't be bothered to serve their customers

Currently staying at Cobleland camp site, so for dinner we decided to have a chippy dinner. Bought it from the Aberfoyle inn chip shop. What can I say without the worst chippy dinner ever . The fush and chips were swimming in grease, when you opened out the paper the batter stuck to the paper leaving you with a baldy fish. Normally you eat it whilst in the wrapper but we had to scrape it off the paper onto plates. Definitely avoid .

What an awful experience, clearly full of freinds of the staff who were very very loud and one vaping when we arrived, not a very nice atmosphere to try and eat in, food when it came was disappointing nachos and pizzas very bland and far too much cheese with no flavour, felt like we couldn't complain and when trying to leave had to try and get past them all smoking at the front door. If you are wanting a pub experience then go here but not for a relaxing meal. Avoid would be my suggestion or go to the Fairie Tree Inn who know how to make amazing food

Myself and my wife dine here on 6/7/23 and it was a delicious meal with an excellent atmosphere the 2 woman working made our experience just that much more enjoyable. We had Nachos and mozzarella sticks for starters and both were very good size portions and just delicious to eat, for mains my wife had the fish, chippy chips and mushy peas and I had the veggie burger with skin on chips salad and coleslaw (coleslaw is house made and to die for ) also generous fresh portion sizes and clean plates all round from us. Sadly they do not do desserts but one of the ladies behind the bar was kind and give us complimentary cake she had personally which I thought was so very kind of her. It's also worth noting that we did phone and book a table as we thought it would be busy with summer in full swing but thankfully for us it was very quiet but the ladies did say next week they are booked up so drop them a wee call just so your not disappointed cos that's the only thing you would be disappointed with not getting to experience this wonderful quirky decorated place with such great food and excellent staff.

Visited this place for dinner, booked table night before so we knew we were guaranteed seating. On arrival staff were extremely friendly and helpful, this did not change throughout our night. Our food and drink orders were taken at the table, drinks arrived pretty much immediately and our starters weren't too far behind. Nachos, massive portion, enough for 2 to share and mozzarella sticks, amazing with the spicy dip. There was a nice gap between starters and mains, it wasn't rushed but we weren't left sitting waiting for ages either. Mains arrived, a veggie burger with skin on fries. The burger although veggie, had a very meaty texture, not the usual soft crumbly fall apart ones but the star of my wife's plate was definitely the homemade coleslaw, she said she could've ate this by the gallons. Fish with chippy chips, the dinner was very tasty, not a massive portion but enough to fill me up, my only negative was the mushy peas, there just wasn't enough of them. Unfortunately there is no dessert menu so we couldn't order, staff did explain why and as much as it was disappointing, we could understand and appreciate the decision not to offer desserts. Staff were quick to remove used plates, glasses etc. Overall, we had a great night in a friendly, quirky little gem of a place and would definitely recommend a visit.

This place is great! From start to finish, everything was great. Steph helped us the first night, even carrying a heavy bag up the stairs! Bobbie served us coffee, tea and generally took care of us…advice on hikes, places to go, and more. Alec, the chef, took great care to prepare coeliac friendly meals, which was over and above what I expected and I was so grateful. Christie also made an excellent . breakfast. The atmosphere of the place felt like you were cared for and were at home. Go visit!

Stayed local and found this place online. Place was dead apart from what seemed to be friends of the staff just chatting. Staff hoovering while we were in which was a bit off putting. Girl who served us was very nice and cheery. Food came and was super bland sadly. Chips were more end bits and crunch than actual chips. Would not go back if in the area.

Disappointing…. Ordered two Fish and chips @ £13.50 each. Arrived on a very small plate. Fish was one small piece (Childs portion) obviously frozen, looked unappetising and was tasteless. Teaspoon, at best, of mushy peas….. definitely not worth £13.50! Staff were lovely, service was prompt otherwise I would have sent it back and requested a refund and left.

After remortgaging the house we decided to get some lunch at the Snack Stop. We had lots of money in the bank and decided to use as much as possible. Suffice to say we weren’t let down. Upshot is if you want a ridiculously expensive lunch on paper plates and cardboard cutlery then this is the place for you. £6.50 for a box of 6 sad looking nuggets , £9.99 for a baked potato with 2 fillings. Keep driving past so your kids will get some Christmas presents this year.
