We popped in to buy a couple of cakes whilst we were on a holiday in the area. Pistachio blondie was amazing -rhubarb frangipane ok. Also, chicken & leek pie and steak & haggis absolutely delicious pastry & chunky meaty contents. Back a few days later to pick up more blondies & pumpkin brownies for family at home! Seeded bread also next level. Love this place .

The best bakery ever!! We noticed the huge queue out the door when visiting Callander recently and straight away thought “that must be good”! We stopped by and wow, there was soo much choice… cakes galore! We had a chicken and chorizo sandwich each, lemon meringue pie and strawberry tart and all were delicious. We went back the next day for seconds they were that good!

This is usually a welcome stop on the way to/ from the north but we were a bit disappointed this time. My partner ordered a cappucino but we weren't told that plant-based milk was charged at £1 extra! That's on top of an already expensive coffee. The macaroni pies look amazing and are made on the premises. However, despite the cheesy topping, there was virtually no cheese in the filling and as such the pie was a bit bland. Poor value.

I popped in on my way North this morning. I wasn’t impressed with the nonchalant server to be perfectly honest. While I appreciate everyone has bad days it really doesn’t take a lot to be pleasant does it? The price is also expensive, one sausage roll, one cherry flan thing, one olive loaf a cheddar and chilli loaf and a bottle of dipping oil - £21.90. There were also dogs allowed in the shop - not everyone likes dogs nor owners who think that others love their dogs as much they do. If dogs are allowed in they should be kept under control and not permitted to jump on or be a pest to other customers. Not a pleasant experience as far as I was concerned and I won’t be returning.

We regularly pass through callander and always stop in here for a sandwich. Customer service can sometimes be a bit dry but they are a very busy shop and understand the stress of that. Today will be our last stop in as the prices are ridiculous. Nearly £17 for 2 sandwiches and a small bottle of juice to share (take away). My regular sandwich was also pretty poor. 3 small bits chicken with gaps in between and 1 circle of salami, lots of rocket tho. It was mostly bread, rocket and mayo which was pretty bland (again used to be really garlicy and rich). These sandwiches used to be absolutly loaded with chicken and so tasty. But with that price and the underwhelming result we won't be going out of our way to come here again. Prices are not particularly transparent ether inside the shop and you are a bit rushed to buy what you see by the staff. Not even a napkin in the paper bag considering it was bought to take away. 2 stars for the fresh made bread.

Bought a sourdough loaf, and two cherry bakewell tarts, what a disappointment. The bread was dry, the crust was tough, and could hardly be cut with a serrated bread knife. The tarts also were dry. At a cost of over £7, it was a total rip off. The next day I called into the shop and stated my disappointment and was told, by a member of staff "That is your opinion" and she walked off. No prices shown, they charge you whatever they want. Suggest you give this shop a miss and go to the bakers further down the street on the corner.

The shop of the tea room was amazing, displaying an array of deliciously inviting baked products. However the busy tearoom did not live up to expectation. It was a very busy out of season weekend and every seat was occupied. The staff were run off their feet and we were presented with very tired menus. Lots of grumpy customers, but our order eventually came and was delicious and great value. Unfortunately I called back late afternoon, when I thought that it would be quieter, with my father. Great to see the cafe still busy, but it feels tired. Perhaps making the till section smaller may help with the congestion. I couldn’t help feeling that the bakery shop was fabulous but didn’t filter to the tea shop. Such a shame, but I am sure that they have had a very productive summer .

I work in Callander and like to pop into mhor to get a sandwich on my lunch break. I can count on one hand the amount of times I had actually successfully managed to buy a sandwich during my lunch break due to the apparent ‘free for all’ that is the takeaway counter staff member’s approach to customer service and queuing. You can stand for a good ten minutes waiting to be served but the staff member will just serve the next visiting tourist rude enough to swan up to the counter, bypassing everyone waiting patiently, and place their order in the loudest voice. Very frustrating as it isn’t hard to just state “this person is next” and then serve the person who is actually next in line! Perhaps some basic customer service training would be beneficial?

So I take the cakes into the adjoining room and dare to sit down at a table in the completely empty restaurant while waiting for the coffees. Bearing in mind that there are no signs explaining anything to the contrary. So the waiter comes over and tells me I “ can’t sit there” and “ if you want to sit in you would have to order from that side of the cafe?? For f**k sake I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous. I felt so angry at that point it really spoiled our morning. My travelling companion explained to the very unfriendly woman behind the cash register that we were unaware of such “ rules” when ordering and were not informed of same! needless to say we ate our cakes and swiftly left. The bread and cakes in the shop window attracted us in to the tearoom, and we were all very pleased with the range of food available. The sandwiches were prepared using their bread, with good home made soup available, plus a wide selection of cakes. After many cold coffees during our holiday, it was so good to get a good quality hot coffee. The staff were very helpful and friendly too, which made our time there so enjoyable.

Adjacent to the bakery, this cafe has a kind of shabby chic decor, but looks a little dated. That said the staff are very friendly and the food of a very good standard.

My wife and I were recommended this room . I ordered a pot of tea for 2 a ham and cheese sandwich and a ham and tomato sandwich.( not toasted) just plain white bread.. When I went to pay the lady said the bill is £ 15.00. I said "wow" can you please check and she said " yes that is the price" so a word of warning if you go there , ask what the cost is before you order because not all prices are listed and like us you could get ripped off.

Friendly staff, good food, not a bad price. The food on display in the bakery looks amazing. The garlic bread was the best I've ever eaten.

Lovely place to stop for a sandwich and/or cake. Very friendly staff and worth queuing up. We had a number of cakes - flap jack, chocolate eclairs and currant slices. Defiantly worth getting fat for!

have read other reviews. passing through the town with wife & daughter. looked up reviews and decided to go to this F&C.; ordered the usual stuff- Fish & chips. was served oil soaked batter with miserly volume of fish in it. no exaggeration, had to actually look for fish in the batter. did not complain as too embarrassed. also had stiff opposition from wife & daughter to make any scene - as the restaurant otherwise looked nice.

We stopped in Calandar for a quick bite to eat for lunch on the way back to England from Isle of Skye. The broccoli, spinach & cumin soup with sourdough bread was warm & nourishing- recommended !

Just passing through for a light Sunday snack and was drawn in by the bakery- a lovely display. I liked the continuation of rustic veggieness into the tearoom itself but was pleased to see that I could get a Scottish pie-this perfectly offset the beetroot and mackerel pate. Good tolerant service with a homely character.

My family and I were on a day tour out to the Highlands from Edinburgh and the door stopped nearby so we dropped in here to get some lunch for later on the bus. We grabbed a few ham sandwiches and a pastry. Both were very good and served our needs well.

Travelling through the town, popped here for lunch. It was quite dark in as other reviews said, a bit tatty in places. However, lunch was really tasty. I liked what they had on the menu and service was really good. The tearoom needs brightening up, but all in all I enjoyed my visit.

Visited with friends and kids after a walk up Ben A'an. The bakery through which you enter looked inviting but the tearoom was a disappointment. It was a bit grotty and a miss match of furniture. It wasn't helped by sitting at a table all scratched. Had a scone and a cup of tea. The scone was at the lower end of average and the tea served in a strange cup that didn't fit on its saucer. I was sat looking at another tea room across the road thinking I'll try their next time. Staff were helpful and polite though.

This was our best value lunch by far in 10 days of travelling around Europe. We fed 5 of us on about 15 pounds with pies and even a donut each for dessert. Delicious and quick lunch.

After remortgaging the house we decided to get some lunch at the Snack Stop. We had lots of money in the bank and decided to use as much as possible. Suffice to say we weren’t let down. Upshot is if you want a ridiculously expensive lunch on paper plates and cardboard cutlery then this is the place for you. £6.50 for a box of 6 sad looking nuggets , £9.99 for a baked potato with 2 fillings. Keep driving past so your kids will get some Christmas presents this year.
