Very nice pub! Does plenty of the classic food and drinks but has a great selection of alternative dishes too. We shared the ox cheek and tail fritters to start which were lovely. My boyfriend had the half ribs, they fell off the bone and came with nice, crunchy chips. I had the pan-fried cod with miso and sweetcorn puree which was fantastic, wiped the plate clean! The ladies which were working were very pleasant and did all they could to help us. Nice atmosphere and buzz about the place. Would recommend and go back.

Fantastic little pub restaurant, food was delicious, and the service was superb. We came here without the children for dinner. We hadn’t been in a few months and £130 later we left feel slightly deflated. A fond fan of “the pig”, venison etc the menu is now more “pub” . Everything was nice and staff very friendly just not what we had expected. We had to return the chicken wings as there was no flavour at all. My husband returned the next night for fish, and again it was “ nice” just not amazing! Our expectations were high, and it just wasn’t as great as it has been!

We went to this restaurant following a recommendation from a local. It must be said that there are not very many restaurants in the surrounding area. We ate in a small group in the extension at the back. The place is okay without more, the pub part being necessarily more typical. The food is good. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed with the quantities. The half portion of ribs was advertised for 6 pieces. My neighbor got 5 and I got 4... I had enough, it was enough but a shame not to receive what was announced (especially since we had specifically asked the question). The vegetarian dish was apparently very good. Dessert was good but not extraordinary. The service is correct and friendly. Expect around £30 per person. The parking lot is quite small and full.

A gorgeous restaurant and bar, with beautiful country surrounding it. Service was good, nice choice of ales on tap, and we liked the decor. My partner said it was the best roast she's had at a restaurant, which is high praise. Definitely a good place to bring guests. I'd appreciate it if they made it clearer how to enter the establishment, as there's quite a few entrances and I was confused.

Well, where do I start.... I booked a table on line for the only time we could get, which was 9pm, only to be phoned to ask if I would accept an earlier time, because the kitchen closed at 9pm!!!. so! Arrived at 07.50 only to be told that a table wasn't available and we should wait.. we waited until 08.30 and eventually we were shown to a table at the back of the establishment 😐. We were then told that our order would take ten minutes longer than usual. Once a member of staff arrived l, we were then told that certain choices on the menu were no longer available 😡, which then limited our remaining choices, to the abysmal few that were left on the menu 😞. Once the starters arrived, they were barely warm, as were the main courses. My wife's order of spare ribs were served on a piece of wood, which had a split in it, which surely constitutes as a health hazard because of the danger of food poisoning 🤮. I had something that was supposed to be shoulder of pork, in essence it was two lumps of something that was supposed to be pork and something that was supposed to be black pudding 🤔, which was barely warm. The atmosphere was rowdy and noisy and the area we ate in was cold 🥶. The food was most definitely not worth the prices which we paid, and we couldn't wait to extradite ourselves from an extremely poor evening. The fact that a few of the choices on the menu were not available, shows an extreme lack of organisation. The staff were not tentative in the least 🙄😐🤨 Most definitely not recommended at all. We will not be frequenting that established any time soon. ..poor😐😑

Very good location, ambience and friendly accommodating staff. We sat by the fire on New Year’s Day ordered a seafood platter for one and a meat platter, with a decent IPA and sparkling water. Woe betide the vegetarian who goes here on a Wednesday. Last Wednesday I went with family, who arrived before me and were told all but one of the vegetarian dishes shown on the website were not on offer because it was a Wednesday and they received their ingredient delivery on Thursday. As such, my partner and I didn't have a choice of mains, just the chickpea ragou. It was very nice chickpea ragou. It would have nicer to know in advance that nothing else was on offer, instead of looking at the variety of vegetarian meals on the website and then turning up to no choice other than chickpea ragou. "It's Wednesday, don't you know?" became a running joke throughout the meal. Waiter brings my parent chicken wings instead of the mussels starter? It's Wednesday. Lights won't stop flickering above the table? It's Wednesday. All the pictures were wonky? It's Wednesday. They brought elderflower tonic instead of elderflower cordial? It's Wednesday, don't you know. Having said all that, I'd eat here again. The chickpea ragou was tasty. I just implore them to update their website (and not just social medias) if there are future supply issues.

We were not disappointed! Cosy wee place, which also allows dogs (much appreciated by our black labrador 'MAC'). The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We had the mixed platter (as recommended by others) as a starter. I then had the halibut which literally melted in my mouth (I have to admit, my pet hate is chewy fish - which usually indicates overcooking, or pre-cooked). My wife had the rack of ribs which just fell off the bone. We would highly recommend the food here, and will definitely be back - maybe in the colder months to enjoy the open fire too.

Found this on our last morning. Wish we had gone there for breakfast during our stay. Tucked away but worth a look

I cannot recommend this place enough we were here as part of a group and I have got to say the dinner was amongst the tastiest and well prepared food we have ever eaten. We had three courses and each was full of flavour we left smiling and stuffed. Massive thank you to the chefs Blad and Jack for their amazing food both nights of our stay. We couldn’t have been more happy with the quality. The dining room is a relaxed setting and the waiting staff are so helpful.

After remortgaging the house we decided to get some lunch at the Snack Stop. We had lots of money in the bank and decided to use as much as possible. Suffice to say we weren’t let down. Upshot is if you want a ridiculously expensive lunch on paper plates and cardboard cutlery then this is the place for you. £6.50 for a box of 6 sad looking nuggets , £9.99 for a baked potato with 2 fillings. Keep driving past so your kids will get some Christmas presents this year.
