The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

We traveled to Inverness for a few days in Feb/Mar 2025 and found Blackfrairs through Capital One Travel. Graham and the lovely staff were extremely courteous and pleasant hosts. We were exhausted after a poor night’s rest on the Caledonian (No) Sleeper train. Graham ensured that we were able to get into our room more quickly so we could catch up on much needed rest. The room itself was cozy, albeit a bit creaky, although to us that is part of the experience we were looking for. We had a great nights sleep each night we stayed, and there were some tasty complimentary snacks and water in the room. The food was excellent as well. The Espresso Martini and the Steak & Ale pie stood out as highlights of our stay. The location is convenient walking distance to the train/bus station and near many bars/shops. We highly, highly recommend staying and/or eating at Blackfrairs.

Once again we booked for a large party for a birthday. There were teenagers and kids in our party but staff were terrific. The fresh cooked meals were excellent and the choice on the menu was varied and plenty to satisfy everyone's taste. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thanks very much for making this large get together so special.

What a disaster the redesign of the tron bar is. Lack of seating and uncomfortable - shame the old bar was gorgeous. We left and went elsewhere.l before the show. Don't waste your time. The Tron needs funding to stay open, so open the old bar and get people back in.

My friends and I went on a quiet pub crawl in Kirkcaldy. This place was excellent.

Just ok, nothing terrible but nothing great.

It was lovely but my only issue was we were sat at table 4 next to the ordering station and a member of staff stood there the whole time we were in so she could hear our whole conversation...not the best...and she was not putting orders through...not the best place for an ordering station....

Great place to eat, food was great and cooked to perfection. Jo our waitress was fantastic and very accommodating, thank you for a pleasant experience

The premises were freezing cold and the continual loud foul language of some customers was disgraceful

Sat OUTSIDE so ordered online. Brought wrong alcoholic drink. Took coffee cup & pint away. Went to bar to collect to be told they wouldn't serve us as we had a dog. Told them I would leave dog across the road as he's a working sheepdog and easily controlled. Would still not give us our drinks so basically we were being punished for owning a dog!!! Told me I'd need to wait 7-10 days for my refund which really took the biscuit. Absolute jobs- worth idiots.

For what we spent on our stay for a weekend personally I don't feel well had value for money breakfast was subpar chef needs to go back to culinary school. As for evening meals we were told we didn't need to book a table to find out on night one there was no room to being booked out in the restaurant. Booked for a roast on Sunday to find they'd sold out so yet again wasn't getting what we wanted for our meal. As for the standard of accommodation was tired mould growing in shower and beds mattress so lumpy made for restless night sleep 💤 Would I recommend no taking in account what I've said

Food here is always excellent, you get exactly what you'd expect from any other Nandos but I'd argue that the atmosphere in this Nandos is well above other branches.

Great accomadation, great views of the loch..beautiful and cosy atmosphere. Never felt so at home. Must visit if ur stopping on the NC500 points. Will visit again one day.
