Popped in last night for a couple of pints and the tennents was beautiful, service from Caitlin and Luke was brilliant. Strongly recommend this pub.

It was pleasant enough. Malt of the moment was most expensive I've ever seen for a bog standard whisky- didn’t seem to be a tourist pub but clearly a trap.

Magnificent Scottish pub, with quality typical food and good draft beers. Perhaps the pub lacks a rougher touch, although it is very elegant.

We visited on a quiet lunchtime but had to wait nearly 30 mins for our food. When it finally arrived, it was very tasty and beautifully presented; we both had haggis, neeps,and tatties. Staff were friendly.

You can get three 1/3 pints to try some Beers, would recommend this place! Very kind and nice place. Loaded Crisps were delicious!

Good service and selection of beers

Stay away from this place - if the sourly odor of spilled, fermented beer has not yet made you change your mind, be prepared for a lengthy wait for mediocre food. One person of our small group was served after about 30’ while the others had to wait for 1 1/2 hours. The fish pie was cold when it arrived and had to be returned. The lamb shank in the Shepard’s pie was largely fat covered with mashed potatoes. He tried to explain that there is only one cook (can’t call him/her chef as microwaving frozen dishes does not qualify as cooking). When questioned why customers arriving after us were served before us there was only an embarrassing silence. When complaining to the staff they would not call the manager and presented one of the waiters as supervisor. We eat in many other places and this was by for the worst. What a shame, it was our last night in Edinburgh and left us with a lasting negative impression. Nevertheless, Edinburgh is always worth a visit - just say away from the Kenilworth Pub.

Painful experience!!! Waited for over 75 minutes. Then badly defrosted dishes arrive.... What can I say...

Nice pub, but like a tardis inside, in that there's more room than you realise. Good choice of ale and the food seems nce. We had the sharing Nachos, which were fine but the cheese was the rubbery slices just melted in which didn't really work. It was edible though and did the trick. Other dishes being served looked good though, and the staff were friendly

Great old pub/restaurant in the middle of Edinburgh. Food great! We had Cullen Skink, fish cakes, stew and Scotish egg - all fresh and delicious! Absolutely recommended. You can sit outside and it's quaintly British inside

Really individually. Don't go I ordered a burger, but it didn't seem like my order was accepted. I asked why the food wasn't coming out, but it didn't come out for over 40 minutes, so I ended up getting a refund and there was no apology from the staff. It was my last night in Edinburgh and I was in a bad mood.

Went here with my partner, son and mum, mine and my Son's haggis was lovely but the carrots my mum and partner had were almost raw.. lovely pub all the same.. Will still be back.

Lovely experience at this pub. Great beer and good food, even better whiskeys. My server Caitlin was so friendly and helped me decide when I was at a loss. I literally cannot wait to come back. So excited!!!

The food was perfectly acceptable, although nothing special. A nice atmosphere for a lovely summer evening and the locals were lovely, but I thought the music could’ve been better. Our server Caitlin was lovely and seemed to know more than me about the cask ales!

I've used this pub for lunches each year when I visit for Fringe as there's a veggie option and good choice of beers. Minor niggle this year was the tenderstem brocoli was a little too al dente

Went for Friday afternoon lunch. Pint was lovely but food was even better. The stovies was gourmet.

Popped in for a drink friendly pub. Beautiful building.

The interior was really cozy and typical of a Scottish pub. However, it was quite noisy. We had to wait an hour and a half for our food, which was not acceptable. Fortunately, the food was tasty.

We waited for 45 minutes for our food to be served. Beers were not cold. Table we had was not cleaned by the waiters before we were assigned a table.

Terrible experience! Booked months in advance for me, my wife and our 2 kids aged 9 and 13. We booked for 4.30pm and arrived at 4.25pm. The barman then told us our table was ready but we couldn't sit at it as we had kids and the kitchen wasn't open, I asked him how is that our fault as the kitchen should be open if our table was ready, he just gave a blank stare. He left and after a few minutes came back and told us they were "opening the kitchen especially for us". Giving they say their kitchen was open before this on their site when we booked I found that comment funny. After sitting at a very uncomfortable bench at the table we asked at the bar for drinks as no-one came to ask at the table, he then came with 3 bottles of cola for my wife and kids but didn't bother coming with glasses so again had to go back to ask for the glasses and ice, the barman didn't seem very happy and we were asking too much when asking for glasses for my kids drinks, he really did seem more interested in talking with the barmaid than serving the customer. My advice would be if they don't want to open their kitchen until later at night then maybe they shouldn't take table bookings for food until later at night! As for the reply from the owner below there was no inconsistencies in the story and I explained that to her and got some random excuse. It happened as I said it did.

Staff were great. The pie was overcooked and dry.

Amazing food, excellent service and a brilliant atmosphere. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Kenilworth Pub. If you are looking for amazing food, service and a brilliant atmosphere this is the place to be! . We are looking forward to our next visit. 😀

Cibo ottimo, ben cucinato e porzioni giuste. Locale molto bello, ordinato e pulito. Si ordina autonomamente con il cellulare inquadrando un QR code che permette di accedere alla pagina ove è possibile ordinare. L'utilizzo del portale è intuitivo molto comodo e veloce. Invece l'attesa è stata veramente imbarazzante: circa un'ora per essere serviti. È vero che eravamo in vacanza, però il personale avrebbe dovuto dirci all'ingresso che avremmo dovuto attendere a lungo. Servizi in buona quantità e molto puliti.

The service was terrible, with the exception of the one woman working there. The two men working could have cared less about us, serving us, helping us, or really their jobs in general. After a ridiculously long wait for our food, I asked if there was an estimate as to when it would be ready and the dark haired gentleman told me, “I don’t know, whenever cook finishes it.”

The food didn't taste much. We ate and watched football.

The 10% service fee for on-table serving is always accounted for when getting food, even when we've been getting our own drinks at the bar the whole afternoon. They should allow to split that up.

One of the few original pubs on Rose Street. Check out the wall tiles the ceiling and the central bar. An excellent trip back in time.

Had a very bad experience with this restaurant. Firstly, we walked in and there was no 'hi' or anything like that and we were barely looked at. Then we sat in a separate room separate from the bar where you had to order via a QR code, but there was no reception in that room and so the credit card code did not come in either. After half an hour we finally ordered. We first ordered nachos and then main courses. I think the boy who brought the food and drinks had lost his tongue. They were also not asked whether the food had tasted good and there was more than an hour between the nachos and the main courses. The staff couldn't say goodbye when we left. All in all, very impersonal and unfriendly staff, which led to this bad review.

Nice pub atmosphere, large selection of local and non-local draught beers and tasty food. We liked the Cullen Skink soup and the Fish & Chips.

We made a reservation for 4 for dinner, when we arrived we were told we were not on the list. We were not offered a solution or an opportunity to eat there after all. We were also not offered a seat at the bar. The staff were overwhelmed and unfriendly.

Very tasty food. The atmosphere is cozy and chic, the employees are friendly. However, food was comparatively more expensive.

Stopped in for lunch had a pint and a bowl of stovies. Beer was fine, stovies was just ok, wouldn’t order again. Was surprised to get it microwaved, the edges of the bowl were crusty and burnt. Was not a homemade stovies.

I booked a table for dinner in this place based on rather good reviews, but I've been somewhat disappointed in terms of food, service and atmosphere altogether, there are many better places to have dinner in nearby streets.

Opted for a local pub with food. Couldn't find anyone open for dinner at 9pm. We asked and the kitchen was about to close but they let us order. The steak pie was amazing. Cold beer on tap.

We liked the choice of menu. Varied and something for all of us. We were a party of 7. Also good choice of drinks. Nice dry rose wine.

Very good bar, restaurant with several Scottish specialties! Be careful for the French, the kitchen closes early 😉

Taking an order online is a little surprising at first but I was warned by reading the comments. The service is good and the food too (hamburger steak overcooked but the rest OK). Don't hesitate to be tempted by the suggestions when ordering, pleasant surprises!

A bit many mistakes from a new employee, and most of the menu was sold out (we dined late and they had been busy all day)

After having searched, without success, in 5 other pubs we find a place in this characteristic pub. Drink service at the counter with many local and non-local draft beers. Very (too) slow service. We waited almost an hour for fish & chips, smoked salmon and chips

Dopo aver cercato, senza successo, in altri 5 pub troviamo posto in questo pub caratteristico. Servizio bevande al banco con molte birre alla spina locali e non. Servizio molto (troppo) lento. Abbiamo atteso quasi un'ora per fish & chips, salmone affumicato e patatine fritte.

Johnny and Shannon are fantastic and gave us great service. Look forward to coming back soon!

I really liked your food! Delicious and very well-balanced. Your dining area was abhorrent. The benches were so low compared to the tables you felt like a child sitting. It's fine for drinks, but for eating makes for a troubling situation. The staff in the bar were friendly enough, but took no time to smile or instruct into how you order, and despite the fact that I had booked a table the table was not ready. The staff pointed at a vacant table and quickly removed the items left over from the previous guests. There was spilled water and grease on the table from the last guests – It would have taken no more than one minute to wipe the table, but no effort was made. Food was great. Service was lacking. Seating needs lower tables. I'd come again, but only for drinks :)

Decent spot on Rose street. Decently lit with high ceilings conducive to conversation. Food was mediocre, beers were fresh and good temperature, staff friendly enough and attentive.

Fantastic pub with character and atmosphere. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. Very good, straight forward menu and the chef was very obliging serving deconstructed nachos for a very fussy eater! Will definitely pop in again for a snack and drink!

This pub is stunning inside. The Victorian decor creates a lovely atmosphere to drink or to have dinner. The bar staff are very friendly.

Nipped in for a pint. Have always liked this pub. Bar and snug were spotless. Only criticism the loo could be doing with a facelift.

This place lacks atmosphere. Bar is too big & seating is sparse & uncomfortable. Wine selection is usually ok but no rose Prosecco today which was disappointing. Not the kind of place I’d like to sit & spend money on a meal.

I was in the other night and I’ve got to say I was pleasantly surprised, the girl I think she was the manager or manageress her name was Sharon or Shannon treated us like old friends never felt so welcome in an establishment I have never been in before, fabulous warm welcome, great selection of alcoholic beverages we were reluctant to leave as we had a prior engagement but will most definitely be back x

Being new to Edinburgh, I read the menu outside and went in on a Monday evening. The interior is all in the original Edwardian tiling and wood styling. The food was very hot and swift to arrive, and the redberry crumble was simply the most tasty crumble I have ever had. Brilliant. So, I went again the next evening. Lucky me!

First time here for food. Wow, the food was so fresh and fantastic. Service was spot on. Will certainly return for food. Well done to all the team.

Very nice old pub on Rose Street. Great old Architecture around the pub Historic and serves good food and Ale's. Have previously previewed with photos.

Excellent traditional pub on Edinburgh’s famous Rose Street. It has a beautiful island bar with ample seating and a small lounge towards the back. Beer from the Stewart Brewery was pouring and it was very good. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere was laid back and welcoming. It is part of the Nicholsons group of pubs but seemed less like a chain pub than some others in the group. Would come back again and would recommend.

Advertises it shuts at 2300 on a Sunday. Walked in at 2130 on Sunday 18th February. Barmaid said they're shut. Pathetic. Tourist city in Rose Street?? Won't be back.
