Love this beautifully quaint bistro. Retraced my steps of 40 years ago, where I used to visit this beautifully quaint bistro after walking from the college at Costorphine hill. Happy to say the freshly made hot buttered scones were just as delicious! The tea and cakes too. The staff and service was so lovely and friendly. Thank you for the warm welcome. You all made my day.

Booked the wrong date for a sit in service. Entirely my fault. However, they never made any effort to find me another table, given the fact that we were there and just wanted something to eat. Then, when attempting to place a breakfast takeaway order, I was advised at 12:03 that they had stopped serving breakfast at 12:00. My order was very small indeed (literally 2x rolls and potato scones)...I received such a cold response of "Breakfast is over". They literally made no effort to turn things around and make it an enjoyable experience. And to add insult to injury..their prices are extortionate. A simple bagel with chilly cheese and salmon - £8!! Never coming back!!

This place used to be a delight to visit. Now it simply isn’t. Paper cups, outside service only. Food not good enough. It’s not enough to blame it on Covid. Tasteless muffin with a hash brown, hard egg. Sad looking melted cheese. I spoke to many locals. They all avoid it now. The situation is lovely. Please do better.

Tasty enough food but had to sit out in the rain (Monday morning with no one inside - apparently you have to book). £17+ for 2 very small muffins and 2 cans of soft drink is frankly absurd and incredibly greedy- no wonder people go to McDonald's for the same, for £6, plus a dry seat inside. I want to shop local but can't justify such high prices for so little food and worse service.

Stopped off for coffee and cake and there are 4 outside tables and 7 chairs. Do the maths?? So people wanting to food with no where to sit. Loads of tourists just walking away, staff excuse is they are busy, hmmm you could make way more money by providing adequate seats for the tables you have. It’s very embarrassing watching tourists looking around in amusement at this bizarre set up. If you’ve travelled you’ll know that hospitality is a given to good business. It’s the small things folks and the things people will tell their friends. Apart from that the coffee is good.

Food was good but presentation was terrible. We had an outdoor table. The Cullen skink my friend had was tasty and quite chunky but at £7.35 was served in a paper cup with a practically flat wooden spoon. The roll with it was chewy and didn't seem fresh. The tuna cheese panini which I had was served in a brown paper bag - on opening the bag it was like a dog's dinner with the contents of the sandwich spilled all over the bag. It was disgusting. The bits I managed to eat actually tasted good but why couldn't they serve it on a paper plate rather than in a bag. They knew it wasn't a takeaway. Coffee wasn't bad. For this takeaway style snack they charge sat-in prices. Presentation is a very poor point and spoils it.

This is the only cafè in Cramond and Is overpriced (£7 for a small panini with very thin tomato slices, some mozzarella and horrible pesto). Also you have to book the day before if you want to eat inside, but is not a restaurant, you have to book just to eat panini, bagels and sweets. If you don't book you stay outside (if one of the three tables is available) They serve takeaway only but they have just 3 tables, few chairs and not an umbrella or any cover if it's raining. No table service, plastic cups, no cutlery.... Just high prices.

Amazing hospitality. After a wet and wild hike with 15 beavers, we decided to abort early but needed shelter and a place to warm up before parent pick ups. 15 soggy 6-7 year olds and 7 adults may not be your ideal customers for the morning, but cramond bistro welcomed us in, served everyone their hot chocolates (including dairy free) and coffees in no time and put smiles on the leaders and kids faces. Couldn't have asked for more. (And even tolerated the kids cracking into their packed lunches, sorry about that...!) Thanks, I'll def be back!

I run The Village Bistro in Davidson Mains so a tough critic!! I have always supported other independents so, on a rare couple of hours off, we had a lovely walk and sat outside in the sunshine with our dog. Despite clearly closing, we were warmly met by the owner, Michael. The coffee and cheese scone were delicious (same excellent Edinburgh Tea and Coffee brand as us). The staff were singing, which was just lovely to hear, clearly happy at work. So, if you are near, pop in to support a quality family business where good food and service matters.

We have been to Cramond Bistro many times and it is ok not mind blowing but when the sun is shinning you want to sit and appreciate the scenery with a coffee so we always go back. The Bistro needs some TLC! It needs freshened up outside, take away windows are dirty not dusty, the sugar sachets were damp from condensation sitting in container, no sweeteners. The seats were out but piled up, tables not wiped down. It was not inviting and the staff are never the happiest, they open the window put out order and shut it again asap without engaging. When we arrived it was busy as there is nothing else down that way and when the sun is shinning everyone is out with the fur babies. We ordered a coffee, tea and cheese, egg and hash melt for just under £13, its not cheap so a smile would go a long way from staff. We sat on the benches in the sun and Steve & Kali did enjoy the melt and drinks. The view is spectacular and when it shines in Scotland you remember how lucky we are to have these views on our door step.

Stood about waiting for service with my son. People through the hat hatch seen us stand there and ignored us. I noticed after maybe 3 or 4 mins that we weren’t being served (but it was open and within opening times and not busy). The people working were just chatting amongst themselves and having a laugh - which is fair enough, I can’t imagine the owner paying them a lot and makes no difference to them. However, when I noticed I begun timing it and a full 10 mins later they still hadn’t bothered asking us our order. We drove to the Costa at dmains instead which is disappointing as I’d rather support a local business.

I again asked if there was a table available now, and was told ‘you’ll have to use your device’. Unfortunately the door was locked & they were only serving takeaway from a hatch in the wall. There were 2 (pretty pricey) soup options advertised however we were surprised to be told they were both sold out! It was only about 1340 on a Sunday so we felt this was a bit strange as they’d obviously not prepared properly. We left feeling very disappointed. We feel like we are sharing this review a bit late but my partner and I found ourselves stranded in the area (our bike locks had broken) on a rainy day. The Manager was kind enough to let us in to get out of the rain and use our phones, despite them not having enough space. We also did have plenty of time whilst waiting for a locksmith to come out to have a hot chocolate and a sandwich; both of which were delicious. So, a very belated but yet still very heartfelt thank you for your kindness on the day and highly recommend for the service (bike stress or not!) and the delicious food!

Terrible service. Rude and contradict their own menu. Said they serve melts on menu until noon and then at 11:48 said they stop serving 10 mins before and refused to serve us even though it was still 12 minutes to noon. Would choose the Kirk cafe but is only open Tue to Sat. For such a lovely location very disappointing service.

Sat outside. Lovely views over the River Almond and put onto the Firth of Forth. Super home made food and cake 🥰

We wanted to sit in for a tea as the notice said it was open till 4.30. As it was 3.30 we were surprised and disappointed to be told it was takeaway only now. We all had icecreams but it was definitely an opportunity missed by the man serving. We will not be rushing back.

With new management a few years back, service has hugely improved. Hadn't been back in 10 years due to previous experience. Staff are much friendlier and helpful. Booking in advance for indoor seating recommended.

Incredible breakfast spot! Grabbed our coffee and scone for our walk. My husband highly recommended the sausage maple cream cheese bagel! I loved the cheese scone!

A great starting point to grab a take away Latte before either going along Almond river walk or heading to the island. Currently working as a take away, but has some seats outside. Friendly service.

Used take away service. Hot chocolate fine but Mocha was rather sweet. Good location. Not too hot however.

I hope the staff have woken from their slumber by the time tourist season hits the Royal Mile. It wasn't even that busy with customers. Maybe 5 covers. We were acknowledged quickly with menus. 👍 We pointed out to them that something had been spilt on one if the chairs at our table. Nothing was done about it or even acknowledged. 👎 Then part of our order had been forgotten about. I had to chase this up. 👎Then the table next to us sat the entire time we had eaten, and drank... and used the restrooms before leaving and they still hadn't even had a menu put in front of them. 🤦‍♂️They also had to chase them up. The food itself was nice.👍 (Albeit you're paying tourist royal Mile Edinburgh prices). So a bit of a shame really. Could definitely do better.
