Tron Bar in Glasgow City

What a disaster the redesign of the tron bar is. Lack of seating and uncomfortable - shame the old bar was gorgeous. We left and went elsewhere.l before the show. Don't waste your time. The Tron needs funding to stay open, so open the old bar and get people back in.

Frites should be crisp and hot not cold, pale and soft. The cheese Mac was very stodgy. The fish , I can’t remember what it was called , was completely tasteless. In fact we hadn’t realized it was served cold. The beetroot and goats cheese was ok but nothing special. We weren’t offered condiments automatically to go with the chips. We had seen, what seemed to be, a really nice online menu sent by the Tron on request. It turned out that this menu was not available. There were no puddings on yet menu just mean looking cakes. I’ll certainly nit eat there again.

Very friendly and helpful staff and handy for drinks before going into theatre. The bar is bigger than it looks with plenty spaces at the back.

El día que visitamos, solo uno de los 3 ingredientes para pizza estaba disponible, así que pedimos la sopa. El servicio fue extremadamente lento, y cuando la sopa finalmente llegó era sabrosa pero tibia en el mejor de los casos. Muy decepcionado.

The food was delicious in its presentation and eating. However the service was not great. I had to ask for the set Christmas menu. We were served our food without cutlery or a serving spoon for the side dish of vegetables. The waiting staff were friendly but quite distracted and the expected attention to detail was lacking.

Food was good and it was decent value. Service also good. However it was absolutely freezing in there. We had to keep our coats on. Asked staff but don't think they were able to adjust heating

Small plates delicious/staff charming 7 year old’s pudding never came but taken off the bill with no quibble Did get noisy pre-performance but it IS a theatre bar. Very good food at a very reasonable price. 6 VERY nice small plates to share for 3 adults £30 plus hearty serving of sausages & chips for the wean

Overall, we enjoyed our pre-theatre meal but we had a long wait. We arrived at 6.15 and had to wait till 7.00pm before our food arrived.

Staff are friendly and helpful, we had 3 plates of food for £15, they are not small plates and all were very tasty. Drinks aren’t over expensive either.

This was my first experience of the new menu. I felt the new menu was limited. I have scored food three stars but to be fair the presentation and quality of food was very good. I am a regular at the Tron so I am sure I will get used to the new menu. The old menu was still displayed when I searched online - it was only when we arrived we wee presented with the new menu.

We had a nice lunch with interesting selections from the menu. The staff member who looked after us was very helpful and accommodating. The initial table offered was outside the rehearsal area and very noisy so we were able to find a quieter spot that suited us better. Good food, nice people, casual but efficient atmosphere. We were looking for a quick bite before heading to gig at the Barrowlands. Kitchen was about to close but friendly bar staff got us sorted out! Great small plates menu. Very good value for the quality!

Food was really nice, but the menu is extremely limited. Good value. Our only disappointment was that our son's pizza was brought out at least ten minutes after our food. This was explained by the server and he did apologise. I would still come back again

The food was absolutely excellent, and very good value for money. Our server was a little inexperienced, and therefore some items were missed from the order. However, she was clearly new and just learning – she was very pleasant, so no complaints.

The tapas type dishes were the best food I have had in a long while, potions were larger than I expected and imaginative, very good value.

I used to frequent the Tron with the kids going to theatre group workshops and haven’t been for ages. Glad we went back the burger was a treat and my Caesar salad starter was absolutely perfect! The smoked chicken was so tasty!! Nice to see some friendly staff still there and still remembered me which was nice . Seemingly the new manager is talking about refurbishment so I’ll need to keep going to see what they will do with the place . Always a warm welcome and lovely delicious lunch was a treat . Keep up the good work Tron I’ll be back .

Lovely food cooked from scratch at reasonable prices. The fish and hand cut chips are excellent. Generally quiet at lunchtime. A wee gem.

Food was great & service was friendly although quite slow. Restaurant & toilets were cold. Also disappointed to get charged over 10% service charge without being informed especially when half of our group were young kids. We would've tipped anyway but nice to be told a service charge has been added. Despite this, will definitely be back as the food was really good

The reason for this review is as a result of the following: - the noise level made it difficult to hold a conversation - the smoked duck breast main course was tough/dry - I was presented with the bill without having requested same, despite still waiting for our coffees

We really enjoyed our experience and intend to return soon. The lighting in the dining area could probably be improved: my impression was it was dim, rather than cosy. There is a large bar in the room - perhaps if that were lit it would improve the ambience

Nice service with friendly staff. Music played at a reasonable level so you can still chat amongst friends. Always clean and well organised

We booked this as a pre theatre meal. The quality and taste of the food was excellent and the food was served hot. The service from the various waiters /waitresses was very attentive but not overbearing. They were all very polite. The food was served in good time with just the right amount of time between courses. It was good value for money. We would definitely go back again. It will be interesting to see how often the menu is updated.

Came in here on a Sunday afternoon intending to get a late lunch, instead I left after one coffee. The staff insisted on playing highly aggressive funk at an unreasonable volume. This was very much not background music. It made it impossible to concentrate on anything else. Absolute disgrace.

Great place for food or refreshments. We booked a table before going to Proms in the Park (Green), Service was first class, food was very tasty, as was the wine and drinks. Although we had a "deal voucher" the prices are reasonable. No hesitation in recommending the Tron to anyone

Good service, average food, tasty pudding. We were only given the pre-theatre menu, we requested to see the a la carte, waitress took a while to bring it and took too long to take our orders. I had the fish & chips - fish was lovely, chips were burnt. Disappointingly average overall.

Booked myself and my daughter in for a meal on Saturday. Had previously looked online and seen a fabulous pre theatre menu but it did not state the times or days. So we just assumed it was on all the time. We attended the Tron Bar for our 5pm booking and were seated at our table. Waiting staff were excellent and all the staff were very friendly. However, we were informed on seating that the pre theatre menu is only available when there is a theatre show on. There was no show on that day. So we only had the bar menu to choose from. This was OK but we were really interested in the pre theatre menu. That is why I have given our review 3 stars.

Well! As if I have not been increasingly impressed by the service, and the food at The Tron recently, since coming back to my old haunt (after 20 yrs away(being a single parent). Today, and tonight, the staff surpassed themselves. I say, today and tonight, because The Tron is a place I feel comfortable spending a day in as a lone female doing a bit of research/writing. I do not usually ask bar staff their names; nor do I usually write reviews, however, the professionalism of the staff on duty tonight deserves their names to be mentioned. I am quite nervous in crowded places. I do not tell people about this. Ally, the night manager on duty tonight, must have a sixth sense. The place was very busy tonight as two plays were being performed. Although the bar was busy, Ally came over to ask me if I needed anything. As it happened, I did want a drink. I was just not keen on visiting the busy bar. I didn't have to. Ally was on the ball(no football references intended). Thanks Ally. Earlier on in the evening, a young woman came in with her spirited daughter(she was only 6). Barry, who was working with Ally, behaved the way a human should be with a child. He returned her chat, and was friendly to both mother and child. As a single parent who herself had a spirited boy-child, I welcomed Barry's generous approach. I cannot get away from my favourite meal at The Tron(I still cannot pronounce one of the ingredients). The meal is so delicious I order double of the veg, and add chicken. Tonight's bar staff played a blinder with, who could be described as, more vulnerable people choosing The Tron to go to for food, and a space to spend time in. The staff also have an infectious sense of humour if you are willing to share a joke with them. I highly recommend The Tron 'experience, and want to move in there permanently, should they provide beds. On a serious note: check the food/staff/atmosphere out. Happy customer, Joan.👍

This wee place is a hidden gem today was the third time I have eaten in here but this time I had kids with me went in for lunch the food as usual was excellent and the service was first class will definitely be back.

The food was great and the service was excellent. We had some wine and beers, but we missed some cocktails.

My friend and i ate here prior to going to the Bruno Mars concert at Glasgow Green. Great location for pre concert food and drinks in a nice atmosphere. Special thanks to the staff who gave us a lovely Irish Coffee and biscuits to celebrate my friends birthday - it was much appreciated.

If you are looking for a quick bite in a pleasant location in this HOT weather, why not try the Tron! Often forgotten, outside of a visit to the theatre, this lovely bar has friendly staff and a good atmosphere. They open the windows in good weather so it’s like being outside inside! Perfect for those of us with a wee bit more of a freckled visage!

Not eaten at Tron for over a year. Had their pre-theatre menu. Food was superb- especially the prawn and rice starter. Relaxed atmosphere, attentive waiting staff. Cannot fault this venue at all , it is the genuine hidden gem which people in Glasgow are unaware of. Forget the popular steakhouse on St Vincent street and come here !!

Fabulous food in lovely surroundings! The menu was extensive but we both asked for small changes to main courses which was done with good grace. Both waiters attentive and knowledgeable about food provenance. Delicious flavour combinations and the rum and pineapple upside down cake was to die for. We ate there as we were attending a play but would gladly go back just to work our way through the menu. And the wine list.... Thank you!

Had taken a Friend to see a show & was looking for somewhere to eat & I have to say that I was overjoyed to have pick your establishment. Great service from pleasant staff & the food was just fantastic. I will certainly be returning & will definitely recommend you to my friends and family.

Wonderful meal. I would say exceptional for the cost. The East Coast IPA was very good also.<br /><br />Only minor criticism is that they should serve peas with their beer battered fish not pea puree. Both of us took one taste of the puree and never touched it again The only reason it didn&#039;t get 5 stars for the food.

Popped in here by chance as it's close to my workplace, glad I did! Although the restaurant is quite small and it was really busy the FOH staff were very attentive and friendly and the waitress who took my order kindly went through the menu with me and told me her recommendations. Ended up ordering from the pre-theatre menu, the terrine was perfect as a starter and very flavourful but it was the massaman curry that took the prize! Quite a generous portion too. Had no space for dessert. Had no idea this was here but will be back regularly from now on! Delicious food and very reasonable prices

We ate from the pre-theatre menu which has a good range of choices. Everything we had was really tasty - excellent food. The only hiccup was a mistake in my husband’s starter order, which is the only reason I have taken a mark off the service. However, it was corrected with many apologies - and our drinks were taken off the bill. This is the sort of attitude to customers which keeps people coming back. Well done!

We were in the Victorian BAr - only 2 staff - not nearly enough. Long, long wait for our main courses - had to chase. The Shin of Beef Curry was very bland - pleasant but &#039;polite&#039;. Needed more strong flavours. The fish cake just needed salt!<br />Wine was good and reasonable.<br />Overall - pretty average. Sorry!<br />Sean

Aunque el servicio fue rápido y estaba lleno de calidad de alimentos no podría haber sido mejor. Sólo había dos platos como demasiado lleno para el postre, pero la próxima vez se evita de arranque. Gran relación calidad-precio para comida de alta calidad y el personal eran geniales con los niños. Volveremos. :-)

We were just looking for a coffee and shelter from the rain for half an hour. The Tron bar and kitchen has a full menu and a full bar. It’s located just off Argyle St next to the Tron theatre.

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, the menu was creative, the food beautifully prepared and presented and the staff were very welcoming. I have already recommended it and will continue to do so.

Friendly, efficient staff, excellent food. Highly recommended for all ages.

Visited over xmas with a few friends for lunch. Great variety throughout the menu. Been here a few times and yet to be disappointed. A nice meal with the usual great standard of service in lovely surroundings. Big thumbs up!

Visited the tron bar and kitchen with my family before the panto , this is our second year of doing this on Christmas Eve , glad to say that this year was even better than last , food was excellent , every course was delicious and the service was brilliant . We were hosted by Neil for the evening and he was a gentleman , thoroughly enjoyed our night a will defiantly be back next year . Thanks

Visited today with niece and her 2 children . Waited about 35 minutes after ordering to be told the order had not gone through . Waited another 10 minutes before food arrived . Food fair , service poor . Didn’t see either of the waitresses smile the whole time we were there . Apologies were offered for the delay but with such a total lack of interest that they would have been as well not bothering . Not busy so no excuse. Shame because it is a nice venue.

The food and service were excellent despite being the dreaded &#039;christmas menu&#039;! The only slight flaw was the fact that the beef on the menu was actually a steak - we all thought it was roast beef by the description - and the waiter did not ask how we wanted it cooked so it came quite pink which, unfortunately, was not to the taste of one of our party. After sending it back twice, she was finally satisfied and the staff could not have been more helpful, but it did put a slight damper on an otherwise excellent meal.

Arrived for lunch at 2:40pm on a Saturday afternoon, handed menus and sat down only to be told that they had stopped doing food as "the kitchen had to prep for the evening."

Myself and my friends met for lunch and a catch up. One of my friends had her 1 year old son with her. High chair was provided and waitress asked if he would like paper and crayons but sadly was too young for that. But would be handy in the future. Food was delicious but the nice relaxed atmosphere was ideal for us to have a blether. The staff were very nice and friendly and attentive. They were particularly good with the baby too. Great choice, will definitely come again.

We booked this restaurant after having looked on-line, and liked, the pre-theatre menu. When we arrived, a copy of the pre-theatre menu was sitting on each of the reserved tables. It was just after 5.00 and we were the only customers. Unfortunately, we were informed by the waiter that the menu wasn&#039;t available as the chef was &quot;getting things ready for the panto menu&quot;, available from next week. He offered us the bar menu instead. We expressed our disappointment and he said that he would go and speak to the chef. He didn&#039;t come back to us. We waited for 5 minutes or so then put on our coats and left. Not a good beginning to our evening.

Went for dinner prior to show at Tron Theatre. Great service. Good value. Menu perhaps a little limited - but food was very good.

I&#039;d booked a table, which was laid ready for us when we arrived. Prompt, friendly service. Very good mixture of choices on the lunch menu.<br />All in all, a place I will use again.

We were going to a show at the Tron Theatre and looking for somewhere for a bite to eat first. Great value with 2 courses for just £14.95. Good range to choose from with really fresh ingredients. Excellent service from very friendly staff.

Food great. Very good value for money. We were warned about the holes in the floor that the chairs could drop into however it was unavoidable.

Family lunch on a tight deadline. Loved the food. Plenty for veggies like me and vegan choices too. Don't understand previous comments about lack of choice. Wine was lovely and service friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is lacking I suppose and lighting not subdued. I did prefer it when the very back area was the restaurant as well . but the food is the star of the show. We were genuinely spoiled for choice. Will be back.
