Friendly pub and as far as I can make out, it doesn't matter what side of the fence you are, whether it be Green or Blue, Gay, Straight,Trans, you are made welcome.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service and great prices and I have happily recommended to others to try it out for themseves

We were there for a family birthday. The food was delicous . The people serving the food were fantastic, very friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. They brought out the birthday cake we had brought for the birthday boy and were singing with great enthusaism ( He was delighted). The only downside was having to walk through a screen of smoke to get in and out of the building. This wasnt healthy for the children or those in our group with breathing problems. Not good planning having the smokers area completely surrounding the entrance.

My wife and I visited this restaurant tonight for something different. The menu is vast, however lack of staff led to poor service and long waits! For starters I opted for the Mushrooms which were warm, tasty but very greasy! My wife had the Mozzarella sticks, which were also greasy and very little cheese inside. Mains I had the Ribs and my wife the Sizzling Chicken, both came well presented, warm but greasy and could have done with a sauce! Dessert I had the Cadbury's Lover Sundae, which was pleasant. the young waitress worked her socks off and the new week old manager or whatever he was deserves the sack! It was busy but the poor service puts me off to return!

Four of us, 2 couples, had an exceptional lunch here last weekend. The new menu surpassed all expectations and was the best it's ever been. Each dish brought to our table deserved maximum points for taste and presentation. The staff went above and beyond, from the attentive bar staff to the dedicated waiting team. The manager ensured our satisfaction with every aspect of our meal. After dinner, we enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere and entertainment, making it a memorable day. I highly recommend visiting The Gables to experience its current excellence firsthand.

We were served and waited on by the manager (didn't catch his name) who was very friendly and had our kind of banter. He chatted, made sure we had everything we needed and had a laugh. Nothing was any bother...... The food was delicious and arrived pretty quickly after ordering. There was four of us, we had a mixed grill, chicken and steak combo and fish and chips. No complaints at all, we had a great wee night and will be back :-)

What an improvement to a place a new manager makes. Living locally I have occasionally visited over the past 20 years and now appears to be the best I can remember this place being. Although very busy, the manager takes the time to get everyone the table they would like. Although there was quite a wait for food to arrive ( tables of 6 being in before us ) the food was very good. Nice to see the manager helping out with every aspect of the restaurant and bar. We'll done guys we will definitely be back.

Went here as a family of 6 for dinner everyone one of us even the youngest fussy eater enjoyed the food, the service was excellent especially William he made sure we were all seated and ordered checking in to make sure we had everything he was very welcoming big thank-you to him and the team. We will definitely be back again.

Great value and very friendly establishment. Dog friendly with dogs given treats, if you are out for wander with the dog, ideal place to have a pit stop and knowing that the dogs are welcome, drink bowl and a we treat.

Group of 4 meeting for a catch up, food was spot on and service was even better, there's a real nice feel about the place which we haven't felt for years l, we stopped coming because of the inconsistent service but been 3 times now and can't fault a single thing, Will and his team have been amazing every time.

Food and service was amazing, cant believe the transformation in this place, if you haven't been I highly recommend. We had a steak and chicken combo and it was tasty, Will and his team have turned this place around it's wonderful. Will definitely be back soon.

Wouldn't go back, as we waited over 1hr for food & when asked for dessert menu, they gave us it, on going to till to pay for it got told kitchen was closed & had started washing it down. We were only ones sitting eating. Not as if they were rushed 😔

Food was really nice and was served quickly. Only complaint is I ordered a plain burger and it came with everything on it, had to get a new one made. Very reasonably priced too.

Booked table, but when entered stood for 2 or 3 minutes with no one looking interested on seating us, went and found a table and sat anyway. Ordered starters and a main, within 10 minutes somebody arrived with our main meals, when enquiring about our starters someone brought out 1 starter and I had to say about the other one, never have I been anywhere that give you main meals and starters at the same time 10 minutes after ordering. No cutlery , condements were on the table and whoever served us our food never as much as spoke to us to ask or tell us where to get these, I had to take them from another table. I bought fish and chips and the fish wasn't cooked properly, my wife's food was fine. I would have probably said to someone if anyone had asked how the food was or showed any sign of service or even eye contact but none of these things happened. After my wife finished we got up and left probably about 30 minutes after entering through your doors. By a distance the worst dining experience I have ever received and I would actively tell people to avoid going to your premises. Also tried to complain on your own website but every time I pressed submit it just took me back to the start. After my dining experience it never even surprised me.

First time in here in years n gotta say had a brilliant new year celebrating with friends and family, band was awesome, staff were amazing considering how busy it was also drinks were relatively cheap. Can't fault this place at all defo go back

Christmas Day lunch as a group of 4, supposed to be 5 but had one cancellation. The manager was excellent and sorted the change in booking on the day . A requested seat was provided and from the start to end of our afternoon the team were excellent

We returned after a previous visit that had been resolved and this visit was perfect. The service was excellent and the management and staff we so welcoming and freindly. Service at the bar was swift and accourate and the food was piping hot, cooked well and presented beautifully. A big thanks to William and the team on this visit. Special mention to Tracy who was great as was the elder gentleman who served the food - and to the lady manager who took care of us all day and arranged our next booking for 03 Jan 24 for my birthday which the whole family is now looking forward too. We like the gables (pines) and have been coming for years. The service and food fluctuates, sometimes it's good others it's average. For a while we stopped coming because the kitchen was constantly, randomly closed and you wouldn't know till you arrived, however recently we returned after it was renamed and it had improved (a more secure management appeared to be in place) and we've had some great meals and celebrations there in recent months. We don't expect perfection but average service, a smile and average food would suffice but unfortunately they don't seem to be able to do this either. It's quite pricey now too, so just not worth it. We visited yesterday evening with family. The food took at least 45 mins to come out and we had to chase staff to see if it was coming only to be told they were busy with just a chef and kp in the kitchen. No apology. When we arrived there was only one other table in then a few more 4/5 came in just after us. However no food came out for at least 30 mins before our food arrived. When the food arrived a few of the meals were OK but two were awful. Chicken fajitas, onions and peppers were burned. Wraps cold, only a teaspoon amount of avocado, sour cream, salsa. The cheese was hard as had been left under the heat lamps and was only a miniscule amount. The mixed grill had no coleslaw, no chips, no corn on the cob. Once we queried this, we got extra chicken to make up for no coleslaw! A bizarre and inappropriate substitute in my opinion. The corn was cold as had been bunged in the microwave and was soggy and inedible. Disappointed. I don't think we'll be back.

Not a bad wee place for locals but not only! Very reasonable prices, nice and friendly staff, live sports, full functioning pub and a little restaurant in the back. Be good in the summer to sit in the beer garden and enjoy the trees with my dogs. Will be back :)

Food was delicious - we ordered the sizzling fajitas and chicken and both were delicious - food was hot and portion size was just right. Good variety of drinks and usual bar prices. Staff were lovely, there were only 2 staff covering both bars but they did so with little waiting time and engaged with everyone. It’s been years since I have visited this wee place and forgot how much l liked it, will definitely be back

Popped in here for something to eat after a day out and i certainly wasnt dissapointed, staff were lovely, but i have to mention the chef in this place as he makes the best god damn chilli con carne i have tasted in along time, i have been back several times, my new place to eat...well done chef.

Booked table for birthday with husband and kids front of house staff lovely.... But waited 40 mins for mains then when came to our table order wasn't correct on 3 things for order.... Then asked for desserts and different things where missing I think family night would have been great if kitchen staff had looked at food check before serving staff out with wrong things would go back for drink etc but not food.... Shame

My daughter and I came for dinner we felt very welcomed by the staff member caitlyn she was friendly , attentive and always with a smile she really is a credit to the restaurant food was good and would recommend going .

Visited Barrhead and Pollock with 4 elderly relatives on 10 July 2023. It was a very wet Monday in July. Some friendly guests helped us park in a disabled space close to the door. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a member of staff who quickly located a suitable table, fetched the extra seat we needed explained the menu and served a Drinks Order promptly .The food was served sizzling hot (Haddock, Chips, Mushy Peas, Tartare Sauce Bread and Butter x4 + Gammon Steak Chips peas. All Cooked to Perfection, The surroundings were warm on a very miserable day and the company was good. Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and the chaff As expatriate Glaswegians from Livingston we swopped some humorous remarks with The Manager William who ensured the all our needs were being met. He demonstrated all the qualities needed to warmly welcome guests put them at ease create some memories and generally give them a pleasant experience In a word A meal to remember, Surroundings ideal, Friendly staff Not Forgetting Competitive prices in an easy to follow Menu Excellent Value Would strongly recommend The Gables to people of all ages

Too much salad but tasty. Fajitas wraps were a bit stale/rubbery. Drinks good. Service fast and friendly.

Fantastic restaurant and bar. Completely different vibe to previous visits a year or two ago. Decor is much more modern and the whole environment was much brighter and fresher. Food was outstanding, absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Also did not wait long at all for the meals to arrive and our dietary requirements were catered for along with a couple of changes we asked for. Huge praise to the waitress/barmaid Tracey, she was beyond welcoming, helpful and very attentive along with being friendly and chatty. Can’t wait to return and try out some more delicious meals!

Reasonably priced, good quality pub grub.

Popped in for some food and a beer. The staff were friendly the pub was tidy, a tad quiet but it's a Monday. Had the Caribbean chicken skewers which were lovely, my lad had surf and turf which was cooked to his liking. The beer war nice and cold, good all round, thanks.

Firstly we were with a 10 year old but doesn't give you that option on here?? From the lounge area you can hear the customers in the bar which is adjacent, two customers felt it appropriate to curse and swear constantly using the C and F word! Not enjoyable whilst eating with a 10 year old or not, bar staff could not possibly be deaf to this?! Waited 30 minutes for 2 starters even though ourselves and only another couple were in, starters fine, main courses 45 minutes later..burt to a cinder, did have to ask for child's meal to be replaced...we adults fought on through ours!...won't be back, and to think this was the pub I grew up drinking in!

yesterday afternoon me and my friend visited the new named gables and never in my life have i had service and food like this. appalling. the women behind the bar who i am assuming is some sort of management was not shy in telling customers there was only one chef on and he wasn’t that good of a chef. i should have gathered my things and left there and then but we waited till our food came (which was slapped down infront of us) and my god it was completely freezing cold and unediable. the tone of the so called manager is disgusting and im surprised they still have staff. At one point of my visit i seen the other girl behind look like she was being forced to be there. will never be back i can assure you of this. i wasn’t made to feel welcomed by any member of staff in the building. i think you staff need training in customer service. i would like feedback on how you going to improve this.

We’ve eaten here frequently but recently having done the place up and renamed it (it was the Pines for years), it has gone rapidly downhill. I tried to book for 4 for lunch today but the app wasn’t working so I phoned and we went along at 1.30pm. We ordered at 1.45pm , I ordered a chicken burger but they didn’t have any so I chanced it and we were told food would be 30 minutes. After nearly an hour I enquired and we were told only 1 chef so if we wanted to leave without food we could. So we did. While we were there one of only about 3 staff dropped a bottle behind the bar and proceeded to wash the floor with copious amounts of bleach which made our eyes sting. Last time we were there before Christmas I ordered a salad which I’d had before but it arrived without 5 of the 9 ingredients. The time before that the meal 2 of us ordered arrived without its salad accompaniment. I would strongly advise against eating here unless you have a lot of time and patience and are prepared to change your order or receive only part of what you expect. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in charge and the organisation is dreadful. Why they spent so much on refurbishing when they can’t get staff or serve what’s on the menu is a mystery. We won’t be back for a long time.

Second time visiting here since the take over and food was amazing but the service was shocking waited over 35 minutes for a stater then over a hour for our main meal ,definitely wasn’t busy although a customer was behind the bar at one point so think he was a member of staff ,will and and not let me out this off but was definitely disappointing

was in last week with my mum. staff however are absolutely shocking and rude hardly any staff working and the woman working was really rude to myself and elderly mother. i think maybe staff need to be taught manners? food okay but would go elsewhere
