The staff at the hotel are incredibly kind and helpful. All of our encounters were pleasant. We did have several problems with the hotel. The list of problems: * The only lift for the hotel was broken during our entire stay of 3 nights. We were on the 3rd floor and had several pieces of luggage with our group. * We were told that we could park from late night to 8:30am on the street without a problem. We got a 30 pound parking ticket at 8:17am. The actual time when meters started was 8:00am. * The WiFi in the room was horribly slow. I could not work. * The room smelled of cigarette smoke and mildew. * The bedrooms are dated. They had a bit of dust around the furniture and curtains and the mattress sunk in the middle. * The toilet was difficult to flush. * The sink only had cold water or, after asking for a repair, only hot water. We had to get drinking water from the bathtub. * They gave little toilet paper and tissues that we had to get more from the front desk the first day. Housekeeping did not service the room on the first day, for some reason.

Great stay, staff were excellent

It makes a noise all the time because the building's electrical system is very old but otherwise it is fine

The room was on the top floor with lift not working and was a tad on the small side. Plus even with window shut it was quite noisy.

The hotel is really well located, grocery store, fast food, a little further shopping center, train station. I stayed out of season, so the prices were more than adequate. The staff was great, always at our service.

We had dinner also which was very good and the service was excellent. At breakfast one staff member seemed disinterested, however the food was good.

Felt like royalty in a quaint wee castle. What a gem in the centre of Glasgow. My daughter had never seen a gate lift so new experience for her. Room spacious and bed so comfortable hopefully if price remains reasonable we will be back.

The Abode Glasgow is in a good central location and parking is very conveniently across the street. The hotel and rooms are very clean and the rooms are a good size. The breakfast is good and there is a good selection of food on offer. Staff are very welcoming and helpful, making the experience very relaxing and luxurious.

Great location and love the architecture of this building, the rooms are clean and very nice but the decoration is a bit dated. Staff were very kind and helpful. A very pleasant stay.

It's located in the center of the big city of Glasgow, and there's a multi-storey parking lot diagonally across the street, so it's convenient if you're driving. The appearance and facilities were wonderful, and the breakfast was a traditional Scottish breakfast.

Stayed new year and it was a lovely experience Had a room issue initially but that wad rectified and room swapped with free upgrade. Toilets are not on par with the bedrooms but it worked for us as it was a bed for the night after a party so we enjoyed it

Really beautiful place and amazing staircase

Very good hotel, clean, lots of history to the building especially the stairwell. All the rooms beyond the main stairwell require two doors to be unlocked before you're in the room so it felt very secure. Staff are all excellent, talkative and very personable, room was spotless as were the corridors. Breakfast was excellent and if it wasn't included I would have felt it was value for money. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel if you're going to Kelvingrove or the museums. It was a really nice, quiet trip and I'd recommend anyone stay here. If I was to nitpick, I think in a twin room the bathroom should have a lock.

Breakfast : Non buffet type, so a little takes time. If you do not have enough time in the morning, plz consider your schedule more. 5. Security : Excellent (receiption -> 1st security door --> 2nd security door, inside room safe box) 6. Overall : 4/5

Stayed here on Saturday night with my partner and had an amazing experience. The hotel is in a prime city centre location with a car park literally across the road, the building itself is beautiful with an authentic Victorian feel to it, complete with lift with a manually operated cage. The staff at check in were friendly, polite, helpful and quick, the room was immaculate with an extremely comfortable bed, plenty of storage and very spacious. Didn't hear a sound all night so we both had a very restful sleep. Checkout was quick and smooth and were given the option to leave our bags at reception if we had to do any shopping or get lunch which I thought was a great touch. Would definitely recommend and will 100% be back in the future.

Hardworking and helpful receptionists who accommodated all our needs. Rooms a little outdated but beds were super comfy.

We stayed in room 120 and the smell of smoke (probably cigarette) in the room was completely unbearable. We thought we could get used to it but never did. My girlfriend was nauseous from the smell, had a headache from it and slept badly. Even after 24hours our pajamas still smelled like smoke. We also found a dirty tissue on arrival.

Vaknade upp med halsont gissar på mögel. ACn kylde knappt men den förde ett oväsen så man inte kunde sova. Till frukost blev det INGENTING kocken hade sjukskrivit sig och vi väntade i över en timme innan vi gav upp. Folk som kom senare till frukosten fick iaf sin frukost. Kasst helt enkelt kolla efter något annat än detta misskötta hotell.

More like 3* than 4. Bed uncomfortable but otherwise fine. Friendly staff. Breakfast not inc in room price and 20£ per person seems extortionate for bacon and eggs. One night was fine.

Hotel is run down, way overpriced, run down bathroom, rooms with no view - at a cost of 400/night. We wanted to leave our luggage at 10:30 because we needed to leave at 13:00 and they refused to take the luggage, because „we don’t guarantee to hold your luggage“ - they didn’t offer another solution like store it anywhere else - after heavy protest they took it and addrd „it might result in damage of your property“ - unfriendly, not customer centric, don’t go there

Absolutely perfect for us. The bed was very comfortable, the couch made into a bed for our son. Everything was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

The place has a great entrance and staircase and looks vintage, but the room we had was really a bit small and the same with the bathroom. Otherwise the staff were very friendly and helpful and it's right across Q Park parking garage so very convenient. You're also close to the centre of town. There's lots of other hotels to choose from in the same area, so this might not be our first choice next time

Nice clean hotel in a great central location in the heart of Glasgow. Room was small but very comfortable and had everything we needed. Beautiful old building with vintage lift from the early 19 hundreds. Only thing that our stay down a little was the air conditioning wasn’t great, very stuffy night .

Stayed there last night, l think its an incredible hotel, definitely deserves a 5 stars

Sleepless night with temperature in the room unconfortably high due to faulty air conditioning. The girl at reception offered us a portable fan as a solution but it just blew hot air around and was excessivily noisy. Would have been better sleeping in a car. What a rip off!

I don’t like to write bad reviews but this time is an exception as the stay in the hotel was so bad. I usually like hotels in old buildings but this one really needs to be renovated. Very old rooms: bed smell, weak windows, no wifi connection, old carpet floor, broken walls…. When I told the reception guy (during late evening) that my room had a really strange smell, his only comment was “oh really”. We had to ask 5 (!!) times if we could get a new key card to enter the room, as the card was never working. This can’t happen in a 4 star hotel. Really bad value for money: we spent 250£ per night!! For this price I expect a much better construction and service. The only good part was the breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel, for us it was a waste of money.

Stayed here recently, the place was in a central location and staff were friendly. My only flaw was the rooms seems fantastic where the bathroom was basic, clean but doesn’t match the interior throughout. I would however stay here again as the price was reasonable

Beautiful hotel. We had a lovely big, airy room. Only a couple of things to improve on. Felt the bathroom needed an update and slightly disappointed there didn't seem to an option for a drink in the hotel bar before bedroom and it wasn't late. Friendly staff.

Das Hotel liegt zentral in Glasgow, sodass man fußläufig unterwegs sein kann. Parken kann man direkt gegenüber in einem Parkhaus. Als Gast im Hotel zahlt man für 24 h nur den halben Preis ( in unserem Fall 12,50 £). Das Ticket beim Auschecken einfach vorzeigen. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, im Bad findet man auch alles was man braucht. Es war etwas kühl, trotz aufgedrehter Heizung im Zimmer und Bad. Die Betten sind relativ weich, jedoch haben wir trotzdem sehr gut geschlafen. Wir hatten das Zimmer zur Straßenseite raus, da hört man den Verkehr deutlich. Das Frühstück wird á la carte serviert und war mega gut! Wir haben inklusive Frühstück gebucht und uns wurde mitgeteilt, wir dürfen auch mehrfach bestellen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt im Abode. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter*innen.

Our stay at the ABode was pleasant for the most part. The room wasn’t bad, freshly cleaned and a moderate size. The bathroom is quite small with a pretty narrow tub. You’ll hear the fire doors slamming throughout your stay. The hotel has a cute old school lift in the middle of it which is really unique to see. The breakfast was quite delicious and reasonably priced. I had to make a noise complaint to the front desk about people in our hallway being really loud all night and they came up and somewhat handled it.

Unable to travel to Glasgow due to adverse weather conditions resulting in a landslide North of Carlisle, tried to cancel but abode wouldn't accept, charged full amount it through it was impossible to get there.

Good hotel, up in Glasgow for the weekend, this hotel is ideally located for the shopping and having a drink, rooms were very spacious and a large comfy bed, breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly, would recommend this hotel

Lovely stay at ABode with my family for my graduation. Great location, excellent service and super comfy beds! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and better than any breakfast I have experienced at a hotel.

Quirky and quaint, lovely rooms and the breakfast was pretty special.

This hotel is shocking. The room was so small I struggled to put the iron board up, air con doesn’t work, open the window and you get all the road traffic noise. The bathroom is compact (Very compact). The bar has very little range, then we asked for a Gin and Tonic to be informed the ice machine is broken (no ice). At breakfast I asked for poached egg on toast to be informed it’s not on the menu, after a long wait. No staff on reception this morning… It’s so bad.

Very over priced for whats on offer. Room was dated, lacked attention to detail cleanliness wise and just did not live up to expectations of the price tag. Public areas lacked lustre especially the entrance and what should be a focal point the old lift, was extremely dusty.

The hotel is a bit quirky, some parts of the architecture are stunning and some of the more recent additions are showing signs of wear They are clearly trying to do things the correct way. Parking garage across the road is very handy, it's payable but the hotel offer a discount at reception. Nice room (Superior) , huge high ceilings, the air con was best just turned off, but it was October. A slightly dated bathroom probably the only part that needs updating but everything functional and clean. Breakfast in the morning was superb and is what leaves the lasting impression that I'd recommend the Abode to anyone needing to stay in Central Glasgow.

Strange set up in room. You have to do weird contortions to use bathroom, open wardrobe, use coffee maker, etc. Staff were friendly but the hotel is waaay understaffed. Our fan was out, which meant our loo was very swampy after showers, and unpleasant after ablutions. First, we were told no one from maintenance was working until the next day. The next day we were told they were trying to hire someone for maintenance. Beautiful building, lift, and stairs, but it's quirky and not in the best way.

Great location and staff were pleasant. Room was comfortable, albeit small. Disappointed with the bathroom where the bath had rust and a mouldy bathmat, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel.

Nice small hotel near the city center in Glasgow. Nice small restaurant that serves breakfast only. They have a lift so those with physical difficulties can maneuver. Rooms were small like most hotel rooms in Europe but clean and comfortable.

The hotel was nice but disappointed for the priced paid. The room was big because it was the disability one. The lights weren't working, the shower wasn't draining the water and the hotel didn't provide us closed rooms. We are a family and one room was on the ground floor and the other one in the 2nd floor.

Excellent and courteous staff rooms are spotless and spacious. Do not understand the bad reviews will definitely be back and a carpark opposite with a discount from the hotel.

Very good experience in the hotel, service and location. It was very hot on the hallway room, i couldn't sleep at all.. AC was not working, one small window facing back of the building didn't help and the Dyson also didn't help. Couldn't rest at all, hopefully they fix the AC next time other than that it would've been a perfect experience.

This hotel has a central location. Lots of friendly staff the bedrooms are good size and the hotel bar was also lively Patrick the bar man and Struan & Margarita who where always around and available with great advice and knowledge of where to go around Glasgow and this part of town.

Hôtel très bien placé, la décoration super sympa, l’ascenseur vaut le coup d’œil 👀 Literie très confortable et personnel ultra sympa. Je déplore le bruit du quartier (ce qui n’est pas de leur faute), la propreté hasardeuse de la salle de bain (quelques cheveux qui traînaient…) et les spots ultra puissants dirigés sur la fenêtre la nuit (pour faire joli de dehors, mais l’horreur a l’intérieur…).

Excellent value. Comfortable, well equipped rooms and lovely staff. Will return if visiting Glasgow again.

Very nice hotel with a massive room and a neat 30s style gated elevator. The bar could have had a less corporate selection and the room smelled a bit of smoke but other than that it was a good night!

Excellent staff on reception and very helpful. We made a complaint about the lack of provision of a proper breakfast and they were very understanding and professional. Lovely and comfortable big room. Bathroom not the best and the sloping bath could be a little dangerous. A walk-in shower would probably be better. No mineral water in the room which was surprising and disappointing. The old lift is delightful. Overall, highly recommended although the bar could offer more Scottish whiskies! We are in Scotland after all!!

Was really looking forward to my stay in this hotel but unfortunately was thoroughly disappointed. Upon arriving, the room had a terrible smell and there was skid marks in the toilets and the bath was greasy as well as the plug hole being filled with hair! The bedding had stains on them and when I requested for a room change they had me waiting for hours, the manager was really unpleasant in dealing with this and I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone. Avoid!

We decided a night away was in order as we wanted to do Christmas shopping without fuss and it's been a long time since we've had a night away. So... Checkin was fine. We received welcome pack detailing WiFi , checkout etc. Then came time to go to our room, this is where the 2* review starts. We were situated on the bottom floor, room 105 or 05. So we go through two security doors and to what feels like the hotels dirty secret as this was a small corridor tucked away at the rear next to a security door that made you jump from inside your room each time someone used it. So once inside the room we are greeted to a very pleasant, clean room with one major issue. Where is the view? Oh there isn't one. Instead we open the curtains to discover a red and black brick walled courtyard of sorts. Now I know a view isn't always a guarantee but I'll get to that. So we drop in our bags and leave to do the last of our shopping and enjoy the time away from kids that we have. 10pm we are back at hotel, back in the room and within 20 mins we've heard security/fire door 2 ft from ours slam shut multiple times. So I ask at reception and they are booked out, no other rooms available. OK. Next morning after a not awful but not great night's sleep we leave early. I make a point if saying to front of house staff about door and heat of hotel as it was extremely warm but that's not a big deal. Only to be told that I should have asked for a different room. I did and was told you were booked solid. So we paid nearly £200 for a night in Glasgow, we had what my wife described as a dungeon bedroom, with no view and a near by door that would have woke the dead. Would we stay in this hotel again? Sadly no. The room we stayed in should not be used for guests paying ridiculous prices or anyone really. I can't describe rest of hotel as we didn't go lurking. I absolutely hate leaving a negative review on these things but we were just so disappointed. Hopefully this gets to the right people and it doesn't happen to anyone else. Thank you. Stay was actually not good as in terms of service as lift wasn't working and I had to drag my heavy bags to the 4th floor and I forgot my belongings in the room when I called them they simply denied without even bother to ask from their staff. Rooms are nice but there is no point in staying where services aren't good.

We stayed last weekend for a works jolly. Its what you expect from a city centre hotel, so if its a quiet weekend you are looking for I wouldn't advise it. Great location and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would book again

We had a meeting room,I have not stayed, but having been in a few others, this one will be the one we try to rebook fist .

Bad, pungent smell in my room, smells like paint, made me dizzy and very uncomfortable. I call the reception at about 10pm, and they asked me to wait for reply, but I waited until 12pm, nobody answer me and do nothing to this situation. Bad experience, never sleep here again!

As always, thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Absolutely loved the hamper breakfast, right up my street and staff once again so helpful.

Don't book if you want a quiet room. Permanent fan running in the bathroom, doors closing will literally shake the bed, and depending on the side you are on you have either a busy street or air conditioners running all night.

Breakfast hamper was nice and better than the average hotel buffet but the coffee was weak and horrible on 1 of 3 days. Superior room was small and nothing like the pictures on the website. The safe wasn’t working and wasn’t fixed over 3 days. We were given two room keys but only one corridor key so useless if you wanted to go out separately. Check in staff said they couldn’t give us two corridor keys - odd.

A bit shabby in places but bed was excellent and staff v helpful. Breakfast hamper was really well done.

Always enjoy staying here. Great location and friendly staff. Looking forward to Pie &Brew being back open.

This hotel will not give a refund despite Scotland not allowing visitors from the US in the country. Do us all a favor and stay somewhere else where mgmt treats their customers much better!

A beautiful place to rest your head with very friendly staff and a delicious breakfast basket with a pot of hot coffee delivered right to your hotel room door in the morning. Staying in hotels can be stressful in these tough times. Not here. It was heavenly. Thank you!

Classic central Glasgow hotel, premium rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds. Breakfast hampers available on request. Central location with subsidised car park located across the road. Bathrooms could be more spacious.

An old building with character, staff are friendly, attentive and very obliging, I stayed for a few days for work purposes and had to leave each morning before breakfast service began, not a problem though as I was greeted at reception each morning with pastries/croissants and fresh fruit to take with me, housekeeping delivered a 'new customer' cleaned room every day on my return, location is perfect for town centre shopping, restaurants/theatre and travel, I will definitely be staying here again and most definitely recommend it to those who like a little history in their hotels, well done and thank you to all the team 😃

Fabulous food really attentive and friendly staff. Large portions, starter Ceaser salad had whole chicken breast, more like main meal size.

We went for the Valentine’s special 6 course meal with prosecco (£90 per couple) which was advertised as having live jazz music every night (14-16Feb), however when we arrived on 15th Feb we were told the live music was only in Manchester and was only for the Friday night in Glasgow. We had travelled down from Aberdeen especially so were extremely disappointed especially as we were in Glasgow and could have gone on 14th Feb but when we phoned to book we were not informed. In addition, at our table there was an advert for the Valentine’s special dinner including a bottle of Prosecco not just two glasses - when we asked about this we were told that this was a residential offer only, however there was no statement of that on the advertisement. The service was also very slow as only one person was serving the entire restaurant. The food was good, but the experience was not anything like what had been advertised and paid for.

Hotel in a great city centre location, an amazing building with large rooms and the best part being the lift. Highly recommended hotel in Glasgow.
