I recently attended a surprise 40th birthday party at this hidden gem in Shawlands, and let me tell you, the only thing smoother than their drinks was the birthday boy trying to act surprised! 🤣🍸 From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with a vibe so cozy it's like being wrapped in a warm hug from your tipsy aunt at a family gathering. The decor is a perfect blend of classy and quirky, just like that one uncle who always ends up dancing on tables after a few too many shots. 💃🕺 The staff at the Ivory Hotel are the real party unicorns - they're like ninjas in aprons, always there when you need them but disappearing mysteriously when you're ready to pay the bill! 🦄💸 And let me tell you, their ability to keep up with a room full of tipsy 40-year-olds is nothing short of impressive. I've seen Olympic sprinters move slower than these servers carrying trays of drinks! 🏃‍♂️🍻 As for the surprise itself, well, let's just say that the look on the birthday boy's face was priceless - it was like he'd just seen Bigfoot riding a unicorn through a rainbow! 🌈🦄🎉 And the party atmosphere? Electric enough to power a small city, with laughter, music, and questionable dance moves filling the air like confetti. 🎶💃

Booked a function for the back room and the staff were nothing but rude not giving full pints but the drinks were extortionate music was awful and to top it off outside the function room no one was buying a drink which says a lot about the place, this is not the place to take your friends for a fun drink maybe if your 60!!

Nice festive decorations in conservatory. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Drinks reasonable and staff polite/friendly. Clean toilets and parking available.

Great venue facing Queens Park on Langside Rd. Served by 34 bus service. Excellent food and staff.Nice street facing terrace. Good dining experience. Has now started to have live friday night music shows, monthly at present. Had lunch at the Ivory today with my daughter and we both ordered nachos and fish and chips. Their nachos are always great and not to be missed. Normally we choose fish in batter, but today we took the waiter’s advice and tried the fish in breadcrumbs. OMG it was absolutely delicious , fresh and beautifully cooked , large portions and the chips were to die for - think they were double cooked. All served with hot mushy peas and decorated with a skewered pickled onion . I wish I had taken a photo. Considering I read in today’s paper that Edinburgh’s Tom Kerridge was charging £110.80 for the same fish and chips for two, we had a lunch fit for a king for £36.80 for two courses with soft drinks for the two of us. A mention to the pleasant and attentive waiter who looked after us and the chef who supplied such a mouth watering feast.

I have just had dinner in the Ivory and I must say it was delicious. Compliments to the chef. I cannot begin to say how lovely the waitress is. She certainly knows the etiquette of Good Friendly Customer Service.

Friendly staff and chilled ambience

Pretty ghastly experience, 2 mains and 2 starters had to go back. Food had gone off (mash and custard), rancid smell from 2 different plates, and 2 different choices of main and dessert. Waitress agreed and the chef took both items off menu. I suggested maybe cream/butter could be off, told custard was out of a carton even though it is billed as "home-made custard"! And mash was made the day before and kept in fridge !!!! Both meals were deducted from bill but it completely ruined a birthday lunch. Place seems to have gone right downhill, needs a makeover, and more care with food

used to come every sunday during lockdown to the outside area for drinks with friends, nice vibes, pleasant staff and the white russians are to die for, will be back

It was probably a sign of the times, but the whole of this bar and lounge was empty,music blaring out Ordered coffees, and they were not very nice,I left mine as it tasted odd I certainly would not return

Went here for funeral purvey. They provided the conservatory for our group. The food was very good and the staff pleasant and helpful. Would recommend.

Had a party for my partners 30th in the Ivory last night. The conservatory was lovely and the buffet was fantastic. Great venue for 40 guests, everyone had a fantastic night. The staff were fab, thanks again X

A lovely hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff willing to go the extra mile. John and his team know what they are doing and the drinks and food were very well priced and I would highly recommend the food. Will definitely be back

Looked on all sites for a place to stay as Coldplay were playing in Hampden park but everywhere were either full or charging over the odds found the ivory Hotel on Google rang them up rooms available £79 for double per night 'yes please ' so glad we did. First impressions outside does not look good from the carpark until you see the front end but once in its a total difference clean fresh great atmosphere and great welcome off the staff. Bedrooms were adequate enough for 2 night stay.. would definitely stay again if we would venture this far again from north wales

Only visited the bar for a drink. Kids running round after 10pm, not a great beer selection, grumpy staff. Can't see me rushing back.

Having been invited to a Function at the Ivory Hotel recently, my husband & I decided to book in over-night & 6 weeks ago I phoned to book. Speaking to the chap (John) I assumed he was Reception staff & I asked if Breakfast was included in the price (£69) & was told no, but advised that when we checked in , to book Breakfast for the following morning. When we arrived last week-end firstly, the front door was boarded up with no notice telling where to go& we had to walk round & enter via the side door leading to the public bar where we asked a member of staff where Reception was - to be told he didn't know! We walked to the end of the bar where a young lady asked if we were checking in & ticked our name off the Book. We dutifully paid the price of £69 & then I asked to book for Breakfast to be told that there was none available as the Hotel did not open until 11 am next day & time of checking out was 11am!! We were shocked to say the least wondering what kind of place we had booked & further to our amazement we then were told there was no lift & as our room was on the top floor we had to negotiate 2 flights of stairs (20 on each staircase so 40 all in)! My husband has mobility problems & it was quite daunting for him to negotiate & for me also. These should have been explained to me at time of booking & I would not have made the booking. As I look on-line there are a few intimations about this Hotel - one actually states there is an elevator - I would suggest that these descriptions are deleted if not now relevant & a more accurate one is shown as it is a form of mis-selling the Hotel. We shall not be back, nor shall we recommend this " Hotel?" to any-one. It needs to smarten up & be properly staffed by people who know their job. Otherwise,no complaints about the Function Suite, Dinner was beautiful & we enjoyed a good night with good company although the service was a bit slow.

Went for lunch. Reasonable prices food was nice staff were very nice.

We stayed here for Ed Sheeran concert and i appreciate all hotels raise prices however this was £118 for a single room. No shower gel or shampoo, no hairdryer, dirty around the room. No wifi password supplied, breakfast not included. Very poor customer service as well. Bed was very uncomfortable and sheet didn't fit the mattress. No information sheet in room either about meal times etc. The basics you would expect just were not there. Shower was poor flow and lukewarm. A very expensive stay for a below standard room.

Nice place but lacking in atmosphere

Was in here recently on a Saturday afternoon, ordered from the set lunch menu. Great menu with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We were seated in the side conservatory which was very relaxing. Service was good for a busy Saturday, drinks are reasonably priced as is the menu. Food was amazing, good portion size and well presented, and although staff were kept busy, still were very friendly and attentive.

Staff serving were very friendly and helpful. Food was ok but not up to the standard it used to be, portions werent very filling, especially the steak pie. Dessert could be more interesting, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie not exactly too different from each other The conservatory needs to be updated and make sure that all fairy lights are working, the place is looking tired which is a shame as it used to be a great wee local restaurant.

Amazing service, great tasting good. Emma our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Great place to spent our 14th wedding anniversary.

Was taking my 8 year old daughter to a Scotland woman's team game at Hampden Park, and we decided to make a night of it and go for our dinner beforehand near by. For years of attending events at Hampden, I have always walked passed the Ivory Hotel, but never actually been to it, and decided to use this chance to visit. Booked a table beforehand, but for a Tuesday night, and even with the football game on, the place was not all that full, but few people out for a meal. Staff were really friendly and inviting, and after doing all the usual COVID check in stuff, we were shown to our table in the terrace area at the front of the building, and was nice to just watch the world go by. I ordered the burger from the main menu and my daughter ordered the burger from the kids menu, and both were freshly prepared in no time. My daughter can be a bit of a picky eater, but even she wolfed down her dinner as it was that good. All in all, a great place to go when in the area and a good pre-match spot for games at Hampden Park. Will most certainly be back again in future.

I've been visiting the Ivory for many years now,more frequently recently to view EURO 2020 games on the lounge big screen. Ivory has a comfortable feel about it. Staff are terrific and the food is always great. They have a wonderful range of snacks and pizzas on the menu. All perfect for sharing on any occasion. There is also a very nice terrace dining area suited to the more intimate occasion. The venue is situated directly facing Queens Park gates on Langside Ave. A great place to refresh yourself after a park stroll.

We attended for a ladies lunch with my elderly mum who is quite infirm. Aiden greeted us at the door and was very welcoming. We asked if they could do a small portion for her. He came back after speaking to chef and offered her a specially prepared meal - not one on the menu ! The service was exceptional- the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was exceptional. Well done- would highly recommend. We will be back.

Had tasty meal, with prompt service! Then my elderly father, knocked a glass of Cola, that spilled all over the place. Staff quickly allocated us another table and cleaned up. They were so kind and helpful! Thank you

Youngish manager was rude to myself and parter just after we moved into level 2 but put this down to stress and how busy everywhere was. Went back this weekend and he was again impatient and rude. Won't be back.

Staff is the reason , all we asked was why we we had to leave the table we had moved to quicker than the 1 we were on , we climbed because the table was wobbly and we had ordered food, was told it was booked, even though we had been told you cannot book a table outside in advance it’s 1st come 1st serve, and there was another free table beside us to be used, was then told the boy had been crying in the toilet, even tho the boy had apologised to us, but we were asked not to come back after years of coming to this restaurant, I’m disgusted on how we were treated! Will be telling as many clients and friends about the disgraceful approach they had with this matter.

We stay round the corner from Ivory, regulars for years , but we will never be back! 2 weeks ago we were quoted £20 for 1 roast, because we asked for a piece of chicken with the beef, when they had a deal for starter and and roast for £16.95, they did eventually come back and quoted us £15 for 1 roast no starter which we were happy to pay. Tonight we were in for a roast 1 beer 1 cocktail sitting on a bench outside which was wobbly so we moved table to then be told they needed the table back as it was booked, there was also a free table beside us ,we said to the boy could you mom have told us that as we are having food ,over the past few weeks I have called many times to try book table outside and have been told it’s 1st come 1st serve but now been told the table is reserved, we asked for the same drinks and were told they wouldn’t serve us again, as the boy was in the toilet crying, the same boy that apologised to us for being cheeky at the table. Very disappointed as we did like this place a lot

Very helpful staff went out of their way to get us a table outside when we turned up without a booking. Only had drinks but good choice and fair prices including draught Schiehallion. Service excellent. Slainte!

After the appalling service we received at the church on the hill, it was refreshing to walk down to the Ivory and be welcomed with staff who were happy to have us... especially the guy with the pink hair. well done guys

Shame on the Ivory! Seems if you don't have a smart phone you are not welcome despite being a customer for several years. Scottish Government Covid guidelines clearly state "If you do not have a mobile phone or cannot access the internet, the business or venue must take your contact details using a pen and paper" but today the Ivory staff refused to do that and would not serve me. Quite simply disgraceful discrimination. Lack of staff and management awareness of the rules was disturbing. Sadly for this reason the Ivory is best avoided these days.

Staff customer service is abysmal, we were welcomed with a "get out" all due to an exempt person not wearing a mask, yet I was. Unfriendly staff, we ordered 2 drinks slow service ended up leaving, very put off my the attitude of the senior woman serving. Ended up going to Church on the Hill just up the road, night and day difference highly recommend CHURCH ON THE HILL not The Ivory.

We came on a rainy May day. Aidan was an absolute superstar. Friendly,informative and helpful. If I ever come back to the Ivory I hope that I’m served by Auden. We had a fantastic time! Beautiful bar with fantastic staff! Made us feel like we were right at home. Good banter, good drinks good atmosphere. Will definitely be back as long as Aidan gets a pay rise as he was an absolute doll <3

We really enjoyed our lunch today at the Ivory, the staff were excellent, in particular Jodie who served us. My 6 year old autistic daughter was disappointed that there were no sausages on the menu but the kitchen staff went out of their way to get some for her! We had the steak pie which was delicious and the perfect portion size. Needless to say the sausages went down a treat, we had 3 clean plates! We will definitely visit again soon.

We visited here September 2020 to celebrate our sons 30th birthday. Due to Covid 19 we were restricted to a party size of 8. The service and food were fantastic. We visited at 230pm and stayed until closing time. I think this shows how welcome we were made to feel. Staff in this industry put in long hours and do what is a difficult job at the best of times. The fact that all all the staff were attentive and friendly,while ensuring everyone adhered to the current guidelines is in my opinion fantastic and the sign of a well managed establishment. I also think food and drink prices are good value.

My Second favourite eatery.Met an old friend for lunch today. Food was marvellous. We had a sharing platter of home made pakora, Nachos with Salsa and chicken strips with different dips. We followed that with main dishes of ginger, spring onion and veg Stir Fry and Pizza with Salami. Both delicious. We had soft drinks and coffees. Our total bill was £40. It was a very bad weather day but normally you can enjoy dining in the Glass fronted terrace overlooking Queens Park. Staff are a joy. Friendly and helpful. A great dining experience for lunch or evening dinner . Easily accessible by foot from Shawlands Cross on the right hand side of Langside Avenue. Nice also for any special occasion. Give yourself a culinary treat and then enjoy some drinks in the spacious bar. Planning something bigger?? A function suite is also available with buffet capabilities. 😊
