The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Absolutely shocking service! Food was awful! Waitress was very rude and miserable! Ok if you just wanted a drink sitting outside, anything else, avoid!

Great place the drag show was unreal brilliant banter with them all natural and not forced banter at all

Really poor experience and living off a name and long departed reputation I feel. More batter than fish, extremely poor chips, ordering system unclear on the night we were in. Asked if chicken goujons were in batter or breadcrumbs. Advised batter but breadcrumbs it was and inedible For my daughter. King rib decent. Order messed up but handled well by the server. Extortionate prices for what you are served. I’m not a huge fan of the Tailend either (one daughter is) but they are simply on a different level.

Just love the place. All the staff are lovely and it's a great place for younger kids to play outside while adults get to enjoy their meal and kids don't get worked up with having to sit at the table the whole time. Would be nice if the other two toilets were in use in the female toilets as only one was in use

We were on time for our early evening booking. Amanda and Isla greeted us and seated us at our allotted table. Our first course was a delightful three-variations-on-salmon medley. The butternut squash risotto fulfilled its menu promise. A delicious haddock had to be extricated unwillingly from a spongey wrapper, as the batter hadn't crisped at all. "I'll advise the chef." The accompanying peas were reminiscent of escaped ball bearings. Meanwhile, a European couple had arrived at the adjacent table. Unfamiliar with some of the menu, they were given clear advice. Reluctantly the man resorted to the safety of a burger. When it arrived, he called for attention, as he considered it over-cooked. He was told, as many of the diners will have heard, that "the law of this country is that it must be cooked like that; if it was pink we would be shut down." We left shortly after.

Absolutely stunning food, fantastic service as always. Long time visitor. Will be back soon! Perfect in every way as always!

Do not recommend this hotel, The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that the breakfast view is amazing. The rooms are very dirty and has black mould and water damage in the bathrooms, and the flush on the toilet barely worked. There was also pee on the walls in the bathroom. The door handles are loose and the floors uneven. Our room smelled like fresh paint but they only painted over the things they don’t want you to see. We had to sleep with the windows open because we got nauseous due to the smell. Breakfast was included but the coffee was weaker than tea, and the food tasteless. A few of the staff was nice but they couldn't help with much. No sound isolation either, had a hard time sleeping because there was so much noise from other rooms. I’m not even sure this hotel is safe to stay at. Do not recommend, keep driving or sleep in the car.

Dreadful from beginning to end. Minimalist ‘menu’ Unprofessional , discourteous and disinterested staff. Awful food. Badly prepared. Badly presented and virtually inedible. The worst dining experience I have ever experienced anywhere.

Fun! Did karaoke and lost a jacket but the staff kept it behind the bar 😆

Oh dear what has happened?! Although it has always been expensive you didn’t mind as much as service was always great and had a buzz. Sadly it’s died a death no atmosphere. Wine came before water very very poor.

Just went in on the off chance for a drink and snack. Great place and can't belive we have never been in before.

Just been back in the black bull Rothsey. 10of us ,first time since new owners.We were made to feel very welcome.You can now take your dog in which was great for us.Will definitely be calling in again.
