The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

The pub was well designed and loved the Frankenstein coming down from the ceiling. The drinks were delicious but for a gothic pub we found that the music was awful. It was the type of music you'd expect to hear being played at a club for people in their late teens early twenties. Not the music you'd expect in a gothic pub

Popped in for dinner with family after church. Had a great meal with my husband and children and Ali, out server, was friendly, efficient and very lovely. She was professional in her role and had a lovely chatty personality which always helps. What a welcome change to have someone like her instead of a generic robot serving your dinner. Will definitely come back soon!

Been up from Wales twice now and this place is amazing. It's a must do for me. Back up in October and a new first time visitor is with us. He's going to love the place

Vaya, es difícil describir la caída en desgracia en la que se ha convertido este lugar. 25 minutos en un take away vacío para conseguir un pedido equivocado, patatas fritas crudas y duras y sobre pescado grasiento cocido que era diminuto y no se parece en nada a un eglefino “jumbo”. . Servida por niños despistados y una freidora particularmente sucia con una camiseta empapada de grasa. No hay chefs blancos aquí que pueda decirle. Los niños estaban más interesados en correr por ser estúpidos. En realidad no puedo decir lo que quiero decir aquí, excepto si yo fuera el propietario leyendo esto, entonces estaría extremadamente preocupado de que el final de mi negocio estuviera cerca. Ciérralo y deja que otras tiendas de fish and chips sirvan a Aberdeen y construyan algunos apartamentos, ya que eso fue solo una vergüenza.

Bit disappointed seeing as came here for an evening carvery two days in a row, only to find it shut, even when the hours on Google claim it's still open until 9PM. First showed up on Tuesday, only to find its shut monday and Tuesday all day (picture 1). Showed up the next day at 5 only to find the new opening times are actually until 5 not 8 now (photo 2). Please update the hours to make sure they reflect the new opening times.

Had lunch, which was excellent, staff were great, hotel is lovely in a great location

Part of hotel we were staying at. Interesting as it is a public bar. Good atmosphere and locals as well as hotel guests. Nice open fire, locals bring their dogs, hotel mealsxare served in bar also.

Friendly staff, very nice music! I asked for recommendations and got a very nice and sweet whiskey that’s not on the menu!

Great food and have been a few times now. Fish and chips excellent, steak pie excellent and proper onion rings! The smaller restaurant area out the back by the bar is better than the larger restaurant area at the front.

Nice meal. Once again didn't disappoint.

Food and service excellent today. Children well catered for too. No problems accommodating an elderly wheelchair user. Only downside was lack of parking in disabled spaces due to inconsiderate parking by other guests.

Lovely people, beautiful setting an̈d interior. My meal and my wife's were goodish,( very skinny sea bass) but granddaughter's cheesy nachos were spicy and overcooked, almost burnt, she ate 2, I tried them,they were awful. We didn't complain, as the wait wouldn't have been worth it, as we had another appointment.

Visité Kirkhouse sin reserva para almorzar con un amigo / colega. Esto fue un miércoles a la hora del almuerzo y tuvimos 1 h 30 m de descanso del trabajo para disfrutar de nuestra comida. Habíamos estado un par de veces más en el pasado para nuestra pausa para almorzar para el café y decidimos tener un almuerzo esta vez, ya que teníamos 30 minutos extra. El restaurante estaba bastante ocupado al principio, así que decidimos pedir lo antes posible. Entiendo que la gente a veces va a la caja sin estar segura de lo que les gustaría pedir y esto puede afectar los tiempos de espera. Pedir bebidas también tomó mucho tiempo, había tres miembros del personal en el bar pero solo uno en la caja, por lo que naturalmente, había una cola. Sin embargo, esperamos 50 minutos por dos porciones de fish and chips antes de preguntarle a Kimberley, uno de los empleados, sobre el progreso, ya que nadie vino a darnos una actualización o a decirnos que hay un problema. Kimberley fue a comprobar y le aconsejó que había una copia de seguridad y no pasará mucho tiempo. Nos pareció frustrante, ya que nadie nos dijo cuando pedimos que está tan ocupado que tomaría una hora para que nuestra comida estuviera lista y nadie se molestó en venir a decirnos u ofrecernos una alternativa - si lo hubiéramos sabido, podríamos haber tomado solo café / bebidas y tener un bocado ligero en otro lugar. Sería cortés avisar a los clientes si el tiempo de espera es tan largo. O permitir que los clientes paguen al final, ya que pagar por una comida y tener que comerla en 15 minutos es estresante y no la razón por la que vas a un restaurante. El pescado con patatas fritas estaba sabroso, pero no recomendaría esperar una hora para ello.

I had a hugely disappointing stay at Ednam house. It looks like a beautiful building on the website, as do the rooms and the food. The building itself is very pretty from the outside but it needs to be completely gutted and renovated. None of furniture should even be kept - throw everything out and start from zero. Everything was dirty and dusty, the lampshades stained, the shower mouldy, the carpets old and horrible. Black hairs in the room and the carpet clearly not hoovered. The food at the restaurant was so bad we didn’t touch it when it arrived. Do not order the cod dish as it is completely flavourless. We also ordered green beans and the waiter let us know 10 minutes after our other food arrived that “there is a problem with the green beans”. They never arrived which left us wonder what on earth this problem could have been… The staff were not great and often got our orders wrong or forgot things. This place is completely misrepresented online and it would be such a shame for people to use their well earned holidays at such a badly run establishment. They need to start from zero and close this hotel for months to make the fixes it desperately needs. The location and house from the outside are beautiful so all I can say is that it has nothing but potential. I feel truly catfished by this hotel so please think twice before booking
