Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. The food was delicious and well presented. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We booked the room but felt a little let down by the bathroom (first world problems). we thought we would have the new updated bathroom but ended up with a dated bathroom in a very nice suite. For the most part, we were very happy.

High Tea review. This is a charming hotel just off the high street and beside the banks of the Tay. High Tea is served in the conservative overlooking the river. Good menu choices, prices reasonable, toast and tea/coffee on arrival. Then food followed by small scones and huge meringues with more hot drinks available. Food- steak pie chosen on a recommendation, unfortunately our steak pie was on the tuff side. Certainly not melt in the mouth. Fish and chips was ok, personally it was too salty for me (as someone that doesn't put salt on their food). Food was hot, and service was ok. Cakes, would rather have had a slightly bigger scone instead of a whole and a half scone. Considering the meringues were massive the amount of cream was miniscule. I do know that cream has increased rapidly in price over the last year. I would happily pay a bit more on the price of the high tea for more cream. Finally, the dinner menu looked nice. Will go back for dinner one night.

Very mixed feelings. The staff were great. The food was lovely. The owner has a severe attitude problem. We were in for my sister in laws 40th. About 26 of us in total. Firstly we went to order drinks and the the owner was very door faced. He said we can set up a tab for you all. But as it was different groups we said we will just buy rounds at a time. He let out a sigh and pulled a face.he said "it's a bit of hassle" It's not that difficult. One person orders a round of drinks then pays. This set the tone from him. I don't know what he thinks he is running but the mailcoach is what it is. Pub food, not 1 Devonshire gardens. The people who smoked or vaped not only had to go outside but right to the far end of the car park that is like a Pete bog. So if you smoke or vape please take waders to change into. Felt so sorry for the waiting staff as they were lovely. This used to be a great wee pub. With great food. Now it's like a militant mess hall with rules you woukd expect from a Michelin star resturaunt. £5.30 for a flat pint of tennents is a bit expensive for a place in town let alone the arse end of Baillieston. When we booked we were also told that there was no time limit. Then at 6pm they said we could order our last drink? The place was empty. Literally 10 more people in the full place and he wanted rid of people paying money into the till?

Everything was good, the price was right, but I have had better fish & chips, the sauce and potatoes were very good, the tomato soup and the garlic bread with cheese were good, nothing more, but the fish was not of great quality, and it showed. Very friendly waitresses

Not been at the George for years - so thought we would try today. A lunch on the Saturday after payday we were expecting it to be busy. We were asked if we’d booked - no - but found us a seat - and menus given and orders taken promptly. After 20 minutes of waiting we looked around and everyone that was there around us when we arrived had not yet been served. Started to overhear general chats re time of service. Then the folk at an adjoining table went over to pay for their drinks as they had waited just over an hour. They returned an sat as they were told their meal was just being plated up. 5-10 minutes later the beside them for theirs. So they left. I looked over and saw three staff standing idle and beckoned one over and asked if we were ever going to be served. “It’s just being plated up”…. Was the reply. …. And amazingly it did appear within a minute or two….. When it did arrive, we had ordered two “small plates” - very generous helpings and very tasty. So - food was great quality and great helping - so had the service been prompt it would have been a perfect score. If they had said the kitchen was very busy and it would be 45 minutes to be served it would have helped. Young staff - not well managed - and fending off many unhappy customers. Advice - far better to set realistic expectations. Better still, get enough trained staff for peak times. Shane. It spoiled a nice experience

Costa Coffee is a busy coffee shop located on Elgin High Street. There is a good choice of food and drink items, and prices are on par with similar outlets in Elgin. However, I have two criticisms. There are not enough staff. Tables are not cleared quickly, and the counter staff who are very hard working are overwhelmed at busy times, causing queues and resulting in long waits for drinks and any hot food ordered.
