Parking is a joke. You can stop to take your luggage in and it's first come to park in their carpark if not we had to park a few streets away where it's all night 6pm-8am then you need another ticket so no long lie in. They are traffic wardens patrolling the area. I've a bad hip and it's up stairs to get into the place and it's up another flight of stairs to get to the room ( no lift) carrying the suitcase. The room i was in is the norm but the shower could do with a good clean or renovation. Some mould around the base and brown marks between the shower and WC.??? Rust stains down the wall from the soap dispenser and thick rust build up under the soap dispenser at the wash hand basin. The breakfast and service was good but back up for the luggage and glad it was downhill. Sadly i don't think I'll ever be back in Perth and if I was I'd try and find somewhere with no stairs.

Such a huge disappointment. Certainly not worthy of 3 stars. Underwhelming, and a rather unfriendly, checkin. Staff at dinner couldn’t be bothered to offer me a drink or take my order so after 20mins waiting I gave up and left. Lots of available external eatery options moments from the hotel. Mattress and pillows probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on (if 3hrs of poor sleep counts!) and room (23) dirty, tired, and badly in need of significant renovation but at least the bathroom was good, fresh, and there was plenty of hot water! The only positive was that the wonderful breakfast team were chatty, happy, and welcoming. Thank goodness as otherwise this would have been a one star review…. I’d certainly never consider this place again. Trading on what has been an exciting history but now well past its sell by date. Little surprise that nobody appears willing to buy it having been on the market since 2019. At that point it seems investment may well have stopped! There are so many much, much, better places to stay in/around Perth so caution advised.

Staff were lovely, but by god the restaurant was awful and extortionate, £18 pounds for uncooked £1 oven chips a plasticky steak pie which more like a steak slice and uncooked carrots, rooms were cold and depressing although clean, not enough parking for the hotel. Okay bar. The buffet breakfast was mildly disappointing too but not bad

What a lovely restaurant. My friend and I ate dinner here twice and every dish we had was lovely. A stunning cock a leekie, excellent venison, lamb cutlets and sea bass. Sauces were extremely tasty. This is clearly a hotel with chefs who really know what they are doing. I am looking forward to returning.

Absolutely excellent Hotel. I would recommend this establishment to anyone and personally rate it as Five Star for location, accommodation, food and hospitality. Our stay was booked last minute. We were initially allocated a room up two flights of stairs. For health reasons this was no use. No problem to change to a more suitable room located in the basement. The room was spacious, blissfully peaceful, clean and very comfortable. One slight niggle with a leaky shower, but no big deal. The hight tea was delicious and the famous, giant homemade meringues were simply Wow!! The waiting staff met us with such a warm greeting in the morning, we felt we were part of their extended family. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you everyone at The Royal George we look forward to staying with you again.

Stayed here last night, room was ok, nothing special, shower was poor, lukewarm and difficult to control. The cooked breakfast while tasty was cold, the buffet style containers that keep the items warm were quite frankly inadequate. Little to no parking on site, we used a nearby car park and walked. Maybe 5 minutes away. Good central location, nice bar area with friendly and attentive staff. We would return.

The hotel is lovely, traditional and the staff are very warm, friendly and helpful The food was very well done and plentiful and they catered to my vegan diet. Had heard over the years how good the High Tea is at the Royal George so decided to book. We all had the fish and all thought the batter was soggy. The salad garnish looked wilted. Scones were tiny and meringues were dry as opposed to chewy the way we like them. The best part of the meal was the toast and butter. Not an experience I plan to repeat.

On arrival, we were told that the car park was full due to a conferance. Even though the car park sign said residents only. This meant we had to find alternative parking. This is not easy in Perth, as most parking is 4 hours max. This is nothing to do with the hotel, its the way city is. We found a car park on Canal Street, which is quite a distance away. It was a maximum of 10 hours. But this does not include 6 pm to 8 pm when it is free. The staff were really nice. Our room was at the front of the hotel, and the view of the river was a bonus. Breakfast is excellent and the staff were brilliant.

We didn’t stay here but merely popped in for a drink at the end of a busy day in Perth. The bar area provided a very comfortable place to sit and relax with a drink from the handsome selection of gins on offer! Decor was opulent and cosy with tartans and even a grand piano in the bar!

We had 2 vouchers give as gifts for Afternoon Tea with Prosecco or Perth Gin. Everything was a lovely experience from start to finish. Restaurant was very clean and tidy with white table cloths. Friendly staff member greeted us on arrival and taken to our table. Waitress asked if we wanted tea or coffee. Husband had tea and I opted for coffee. Teapot and hot water jug arrived for the tea and I had a caffitier for myself. 3 tiered cake stand with 4 flavours of finger sandwiches 1 each of brown and white bread. Egg mayonnaise, tuna, ham and cheese. 2 Jam and cream scones, 6 mini sized cakes and 2 enormous home made meringues which the Royal George is famous for. We were offered top ups of the tea and coffee. Asked several times if everything was ok. Finished off with 2 glasses of Prosecco which we had in the garden in the sun. Could not find fault with a single thing. This is a beautiful old hotel. The owners should be proud of all the staff. Many thanks for a lovely experience.

Absolutely disgusting high tea. We both had "breaded" fish which came as a hybrid of batter and breadcrumbs. The fish was supposed to be fresh, but this was grey and didn't flake like fresh does. After requesting to speak with the chef or the manager, both requests were ignored. When the miniscule scones arrived the accompanying meringues had a tiny half strawberry on top with leaves that had almost turned black. Strawberry was soft and mushy. My partner lifted her meringue and a sludgy, messy dollop of cream fell on the table! When the arrogant manager did appear he tried to defend the indefensible. On one hand he said the meringue was made to order. In the next breath he said they were made first thing this morning. When we said we were not prepared to pay for that meal we got "it's not that simple!!" Really?? Customer service and people skills ..zero. If you want to throw good money away in a place like Fawlty Towers, this is the place to come. Oh!!! The toast was good!

Large party for high tea tonight from all over Scotland and Wales and could not believe what a drop in standards since I was last there a couple of years ago. The toast which is always a good start only looked at the toaster and could not have been even classed as golden. One of our table is still waiting on his brown toast. Various dishes available and all sounded good, but just by the people at my table the only dish enjoyed was the salad. My husband has 7 chips with his fish and a wee bit of lettuce and coleslaw. I had roast beef but could not cut through it with my knife as it was so tough - I had better luck using the butter knife. The Yorkshire puddings were so hard we had to ask for extra gravy but even that did not help. The kids food was not much better - it’s a poor show when youngsters say the food is that bad they couldn’t eat it. The Royal George was always a treat for special occasions and we always went there for birthdays etc. it still looks wonderful and very classy but the food needs to be of better standard. The bar staff were fine especially the young lass who was on duty tonight . Prices were standard, what you would probably pay in any drinking establishment in town. Come on Royal George, please pick yourselves up and go back to being a good restaurant.

The George has retained its old word style and traditions but it has a decent bar and airy restaurant overlooking the river Tay. Food menu has all the traditional dishes - nothing adventurous or tantalising, which probably suits the average clientele of the George. Booked last minute for high tea. Exceptional value for money. It was very busy, always a good sign, but they managed to accommodate us. The service was quick and the staff were attentive. The signature meringues are to die for (if you have any room left!!) Would definitely recommend.

Nous y avons passé 3 nuits en Septembre 2018, rien à redire. Les chambres sont propres, le personnel à l'écoute, et le petit déjeuner très bien. Les salles de bains sont excellentes.

Oodles of character. Super comfy beds. Cheap as chips at 39 quid bed and breakfast Per Person on a Daily Mail offer with Old English Inns. A Greene King group. An old rambling building of character. A first class restaurant too

We came here last Sunday as a party of eight for a family lunch. Service was friendly and attentive, with the staff going out their way to be helpful. The food was tasty and well cooked, albeit within a fairly limited table d’hote menu. Portions are not huge, but perfectly fine if having the two or three course options. Between us we had the Roast Beef, the Chicken with Black Pudding and the Sea Bass and nobody had any negative comments, all were favourable, particularly about the Yorkshire puds served with the beef. Drinks appeared reasonably priced. Total cost for 8 people, 2 courses with one drink and Teas/Coffees was circa £165. Highly recommended.

Not happy to pay £4 10 for pint. 200 yards alomg the road it is £ 1 99. No brainer. For a someone who enjoys ale . Go for it in wetherspoons. Food can't complain but it is so dated. If it has to survive it has to upgrade to real value wine. Too much competition in city centre with quality restaurants and quality wines.

Having experienced excellent food and service on previous occasions, it is disappointing to report that on this visit the service fell well below expectation. Table booked for 1230, but despite being shown to our table within five minutes, we were not served until 1315. Rolls were promised with the starters (which were excellent and enjoyable), but never appeared. Three main courses were subsequently delivered to the table, but a wait of over five minutes before the fourth lunch plate arrived, which had obviously been in the microwave for a few minutes!! Staff were busy with another function and were pleasant at all times, but were noticeable by their absence from the dining room for extensive periods. Overall, this visit did not live up to our usual expectations and was quite disappointing. Won't rush back in a hurry!

We celebratated the wedding of our son in July. The food , the drinks and the service was great. We were able to choose the menu and was indivudualized to everyone's taste and needs. I was very impressed with the restaurant that they were also able and willing to cater glutenfree food as well. Lots of selection on the drinks as well and the price was really reasonable. Definitely a great choice for our small wedding dinner. Thank You!

After prowling the internet for somewhere reasonably priced to eat in Perth, we found The Royal George's Hotel high tea. Prices are depended on main course chosen, prices are £11 to £20.I had a steak and my wife had gammon.Steak served with chips and onion rings and gammon served with eggs chips and peas.Tea/coffee toast and then scones and meringue. I finished mine but my wife left a wee bit. Staff very attentive only complaint I had to ask a few times for coffee and then having been asked if I wanted a top up had to ask again to get more.Total bill £35 Thankfully had time for a wee wander before Jane McDonald concert.

We had a family weekend in Pitlochry to see the Enchanted Forest. We fancied a takeaway, but to get 13 of us to agree on what we would get, we ended up getting meals from three separate restaurants. Option two was The Plaice to Be. The usual Chip Shop favourites were available, plus Burger Box and Sharing Box items. There are a limited number of gluten-free options also. Prices were on par with similar local takeaway outlets. We received our telephone order at the time arranged and enjoyed our meal

Stuning location, £3 for a can of coke... erm. The place was too busy so they stopped doing bacon sarnies ect, kind of didnt make sense but probabily saved me a mortgage if the price of the drinks was anything to go by!

Warm welcome, pleasant atmosphere. The café was well attended and the owner kindly asked us to be patient. That wasn't a problem at all because we felt comfortable and there was a lot to discover. In addition, the food is freshly prepared for each guest, you could see into the kitchen 🙂. Everything was very clean. The operators always had a kind word for the guests. We also got into a nice conversation right away. Warm greetings to the two owners and all the best! P.S. We followed the recommendation and visited Plockton, really a nice place😍 Best wishes and best regards Kathrin and Heike
