Attended this venue to stay for business on arrival, was treated poorly by Samantha on reception, told no place to eat, and had no spa service and waited outside until 3pm check in. I requested Samantha cancel and refund my booking, and she said no problem. The hotel is now refusing to refund me with the receptionist now changing her story of what was said! I would strongly suggest booking elsewhere where the staff are trained correctly and they cater for the customer.

Overall a great experience, customer service was great, room was big and clean, breakfast excellent. The only disappointment was the cairns restaurant food, I felt it was over priced and below standard. Wouldn’t eat there again but would return to resort.

I'm writing this 2/3 into my stay rather than after. Interested if they feedback. The potential of this country estate is excellent, to provide a service and experience that marches the elegance of the property. Sadly they miss on nearly every mark. If feel the vibe and energy are both very low from the moment you step into the reception. The staff are less than professional in check in. The grounds seem tired as if they lost their will to maintain high standards. The interior design should highlight the history of the manour, but doesn't. The food in their 2 star restaurant (dinner) is excellent but not matched by the service. The service and seating are good but not excellent. Breakfast today was served cold and with no discussion. The coffee spilled into the saucer Swimming) rather than fix it he left it there for me to deal with. Toast was served cold and flaccid. These may look picky but at 240£ per night and average 135£ for dinner, not 2 star. I will finish this live review when we check out but so far this is not a great stay.

This was supposed to be a birthday treat but it was so so disappointing. The tasting menu was terrible and only one of three servers took our feedback seriously. The manager at checkout the next day was completely uninterested. They literally don’t care if you have a good experience or not. First, the venue was so cold, we both had to retrieve jumpers from our room. Second we ordered a bottle of wine with our tasting menu. No drinks arrived with our first course which was a bad sign. When we asked, we were told “it was still in the freezer chilling”. If you don’t have a cold bottle of white, tell me to order something else. Or offer a complimentary glass of something else to have during our first course. If you offer fine dining, you need to communicate when something isn’t up to fine dining standards - don’t shy away from admitting you don’t have a chiller bottle of wine. The tasting menu itself was completely uninspiring. The first course was cold. More than cold - the centre was what I would call frozen. We mentioned this to the waiter. He told us it’s supposed to be that way. It was terrible cold. And the waiter did nothing to take our feedback to the kitchen. The soup course was okay. The third course was again disappointing. My husband pointed out his disappointment to a different waiter - he didn’t care either. The scallop course was cooked appropriately (which can be hard to do) but the bouillabaisse was again uninspiring. And it wasn’t hot. I believe we mentioned this to the third waiter of the evening. The main course was the worst. It was so cold, we said we couldn’t eat it. At was at this point we were informed that the head chef was looking after a different tasting menu and the sous chef was preparing the tasting menu in the restaurant. They simply stent up for the task. Or the menu is truly uninspiring. The chef came out and apologised. We offered to quit the menu as the experience was ruined and I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday after such a disappointing meal. The chef insisted they try again. A new hot meal was brought out. But as to earlier points - the menu wasn’t up to a tasting menu standard. The team had the audacity to offer to comp the service gratuity and our sparkling water the next morning. That goes to show how little they care about customers having a good experience. We certainly didn’t expect anything for free, but there was no acknowledgement of the errors carried out by the waiters or the kitchen staff. Really poor experience. Don’t bother with the tasting menu.

Eolas offers a tasting menu which was unimpressive and poorly executed on this occasion. The experience was disappointing so much so that we were keen for it to be over and offered to abandon it just over half way through. The worst part was what then followed with the hotel manager, following our experience in the restauraunt, who was prepared to argue that we had completed the event and therefore it was deemed to be all fine in his eyes. We attended the “award winning” restaurant on a Friday evening and opted for the tasting menu. A sample of small bites to showcase the “award winning chef”. We ordered wine which did not appear until the second unimpressive course. We enquired after 20 minutes if it was coming and were informed that it was still in the freezer as it wasn’t chilled. It’s a small point but it gave an indication of the quality of food to follow. The first course was a small choix fit to be served as an amuse bushe in terms of size and complexity. We provided feedback on the first dish as it was cold by the time it was served( the plate was still hot from a heat lamp presumably). The staff apologised. We moved on. Subsequent courses included a small blob of duck pate served luke warm with some dried doughnut. This was not fine dining. We provided realtime constructive feedback as the pattern was becoming shockingly repetitive and unenjoyable. A venison course served next and was cold. At this point we held out little hope things could improve after clearly pointing out things were not going well. Even though we were more than half way through we did speak to the chef and offered to abandon the meal as we were there to have fun and this wasn’t fun at all. He seemed keen to proceed even though he admitted he was very busy elsewhere at an event within the hotel. We offered to abandon the meal for their benefit and for ours as recovery at the 4th course was not really possible. Things did improve we noted but too late as over half the meal had been disspointing. Sadly there are no other dining options within walking distance. At the chefs suggestion and with no other choice we persevered. It’s important to note the serving staff were all very nice but it was the food quality that was the issue, and it may just be factors affecting the quality on the night but having read reviews now, there is a pattern of poor quality emerging this year. In summary, food not great, staff nice, chef apologetic, pleasant and capable when asked if he could perform better. The real issue following this was the hotel duty management staff insisted as we had stayed until the end of the meal it was deemed to be of acceptable quality. Their stance was that we should have walked out of the restauraunt if we were unhappy with the food and therefore, as we hadn’t done this, the meal was deemed to be to our liking. They were particular ignorant to the situation, unapologetic, and unwilling to investigate if what we had experienced had actually happened. They cited various awards the hotel has to make us feel our complaint was somehow not valid. Their main aim was to make sure we paid our entire bill of £340 minus £10 compensation for the fairly unsuccessful tasting menu meal. They relented slightly after a few hours of arguments and offered a £40 reduction but this required a lengthy unpleasant exchange over the entire morning of our departure beginning before breakfast and lasting through the morning until an extended discussion at check out. I would avoid going the hostel and certainly wouldn’t bother to feedback or engage with the management who are entirely disinterested in guest comfort or concerns.

Booked Burns supper meal and overnight stay as a birthday treat for my husband but in spite of 3 emails to manager have not had a response answering the many issues I raised. Meal was a disaster.. So many people squeezed around table it made eating very difficult. Service was so slow food was cold before everyone was served. Many other issues but main one being the lack of response from management. Very discourteous. At £70 a head for meal this was in no way value for money with tiny portions. We have stayed many times over the years but after this experience we will not be back.

I booked for one night for business travel. I was due to arrive on 26th February to pay on arrival. The hotel took payment on 24th February , without my permission. Unfortunately my business trip was rearranged, I cancelled within the cooling of period and yet I am still waiting for a refund on 8th March. Had the hotel adhered to the booking terms of payment on arrival, there would be no need for a refund. I have just called today and spoken to a very rude person in reservations who agreed to process the refund now, offered no explanation as to why it was not done on 26th February, or apology for taking payment in the first place, and had no concept of customer service! I stay in many hotels on business and have never experienced such appalling attitude. I am very please that I didn't stay at that hotel.

This was the most expensive gift I have ever received. In total after the add-ons the bill came to £570 approx for 2 nights dbb. Drinks every time we went to the bar it was a different bottle of white wine, differing in flavours and price ranges too. They never had a clean white wine glass and always had to go look for a white wine bottle. Considering the Cairns Bar was closed and the Barosa Bar was the only bar opened, it didn't make sense. The fluctuation in prices and types of wines were excessive. I only had 2 glasses of wine maximum. Sometimes only 1. The food, I ordered a beef fillet ,which was a £12 supplement, medium rare and it was delivered medium at best some parts were well done. This was resolved by the restaurant staff. However the Barosa staff were another issue, why when they had to go search out a bottle of wine did they then have to go look for another bottle when I was the only one drinking white wine in the bar. Each glass was more expensive than the last. The rooms were well appointed, but the draft coming in under the doors made the room cold.It was a remote hotel and customers were held to ransom. Will I go back. No! Will I recommend this hotel. Never.

Overpriced food, prioritising quantity over quality. We shared the shitake mushroom, creamed spinach & duck egg flatbread starter, which was tasty but the flatbread was the size of the plate & tough as old boots. Too much energy needed to cut it , so dont bother trying to unless you have a hacksaw , take it outside and play frisby instead. I opted for the mushroom linguine. Again, it tasted ok but the quantity of linguine could easily have been shared by 3 people. Sadly the quantity of mushroom was too little and more oil than mushroom. I felt guilty leaving so much to go to waste. My husband was excited to have the Shetland mussels as a main course, but the amount he could eat was equivalent to a starter portion. Many mussels were over cooked or the shells still closed, someone needs to learn how to cook mussels. Some good points, I would recommend Barossa’s Espresso Martini and the bar setting was comfortable.

Afternoon tea needs worked on. For the type of hotel with the price they are charging there is a bit to improve. Firstly when 6 people book for afternoon tea they don't want 3 tables of 2. Also the food was then not served in sharing displays for 2 to share. We had on plate with sausage rolls and savoury muffins. Sausage meat was cheap and fatty. Cakes were ok. Meringues could have been better. Looked nicer than tasted. No printed menu of what the afternoon tea entailed. Did not feel like a treat. Also caught a male bar person chastising the female waitress at the bar which whether necessary or not should not have happened in front of guests to the hotel. Also charged full price when advertised online at cheaper. Bill was adjusted and apology given. No return visit planned.

We stayed overnight at the Murrayshall Hotel and had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The food was excellent and served by super efficient, friendly staff. We also had drinks in the lounge, in a very pleasant, ambient environment. If I’m to be at all critical, there was no draft lager/beer available in the lounge and bar staff had to visit another bar to obtain drinks, which took some time as the hotel was busy. The hotel has also been tastefully furnished throughout. We found all staff to be very polite, efficient and friendly and we would highly recommend it to others. We will definitely visit again.

When we got there the staff were truly helpful and attentive, our young waiter was still learning and friendly. It all went wrong after that I was told I could only have baked smoked salmon for starter with a supplement of £6, Aubergine the vegetarian course or steak which nether appealed, I did have the salmon, Duck and Honey meringue, my husband had Scallops, Venison and Cheese many of the courses having supplements. It was okay very small main portions and expensive sadly not Michelin star. We won't be rushing back or recommending people at the moment.

We arrived today on a lovely sunny afternoon to a warm welcome at reception and were shown to our table. Having checked if we had any dietary allergies the waitress soon arrived with a stand displaying our Afternoon Tea. She described in detail the items on the stand which consisted of a variety of daintily cut sandwiches, small quiches and sausage rolls and delicious small cakes. On a separate board scones with jam and cream. All this was accompanied by our choice of tea or coffee. The surroundings are very much in the country house style.

For mains I had rump steak with Pepper sauce (cooked to perfection) with chunky chips, vine tomatoes and green beans. My partner chose the pheasant and he said it was cooked beautifully. Dessert was apple crumble with calvados ice cream and my partner had sticky toffee pudding. Clean plates and delicious! After dinner we went through to a cosy bar complete with roaring fire and relaxing sofas. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and it was an all round great experience. Having booked proseco afternoon tea at Murrayshall house hotel we felt that we would have a lovely afternoon relaxing in a quality environment , how wrong could we be? After being directed down a long corridor to the Club House we were directed to a dirty table . He brought coffee but no milk , he then brought the sandwiches and cakes that were very poor quality , we couldn’t eat half of them . We waited on our proseco to no avail we had to request our wine from a far from helpful male member of staff. We had to ask for more coffee and clean plates to eat the scones . We asked for the bill to be told he didn’t know the price and we would have to go back to reception . On arrival at reception the lady said that she didn’t know the price either , and we should of paid at the Club House . We showed our disapproval of the shambles and were asked to take a seat . Eventually we got a £5 discount for our poor experience . She also promised to get the manager to call us with an apology , still waiting two days later . Poor service poor quality poor follow up , we recommend that if you want a nice afternoon tea give this place a miss .

When we checked in albeit a bit earlier than the 2pm stated but we were there for a wedding and thought we would have been given a little priority due to the amount of money being spent by the bride and groom and then obviously all the guests at the bar etc. With the exception of one receptionist, we got a very unhelpful reception. Our room when we managed to get into it was classic, old fashioned, in desperate need of an update, bathroom sad. The bath panel was badly water damaged, the shower head had that red build up from lack of cleaning. The bed was very large and comfortable and the view good. Otherwise the room was sadly lacking. Some of the public rooms like one of the bars and where we had breakfast were modern and very pleasant. The others were very 90's and tired. The bars charged different prices for the same drinks - why? The food we had at the wedding was excellent - tasty and hot. The breakfast was a bit 'designer' and although pleasant wasn't very satisfying. About a third of the hot menu (the salmon and haddock) was unavailable which was disappointing for our visit to Scotland. The waiting staff for breakfast were very good and it was lovely to sit by the window and look at the view. In general I think they need to up their game on some of the rooms (some I heard were excellent). Ours was a superior and I wouldn't rate it as superior at all. Only standard. The hotel is in a lovely spot and has the advantage of a golf course. The areas just outside the hotel, like the seating/patio areas are neglected and need tending to in terms of tidiness, updating furniture and paving slabs. I won't return sadly. We had a lovely time in terms of a wedding but the hotel needs to update the sadly out of date areas.

There was not atmosphere in the restaurant the service was terrible and the food average at best. My advice save £100 and eat in Weatherspoon's were the food and service we had the following night was far superior

As a member I am not biased when I say the evening was a great success. From the food to the new function suite and of course, the speaker, Donald Findlay, QC, the evening was superb. Plans for the hotel and golf courses augurs well for the future.

We enjoyed our stay at Murrayshall House but it was not not as enjoyable as our previous visit. We were given a voucher for the hotel but did not realise until we booked that many of the rooms and public areas were not available. The hotel is being renovated and the golf bar area is the only public areas available for dinner and relaxing . The room we had was pleasant and compact but did have all the neccesary requirements for a pleasant overnight stay . The food in the restaurant was good and breakfast was fine. The hotel sits in the middle of a golf course and has a pleasant outlook.

Visited the hotel in Stutt's bar for lunch with a friend. Dining room looked very makeshift and unwelcoming. It had tables with 1 chair and nothing on it, no tables set or laid out like a restaurant and looked like a school canteen. No plants or atrempt to give people privacy. Music was dreadful - same repeated CD with no attempt at atmosphere creation. (Perhaps some Scottish music guys?). Waitress was new (So none of this is against her - at all; she was delightful and tried her best) but someone should've been on hand to help her; felt the poor lassie was a wee bit lost and out on a limb. Had to show her how the card machine worked at end and if we could move to a nicer ambience. In the end we stayed. In saying that the food was excellent. An ample and tasty plate of fish n chips for a reasonable price. Arrived quickly too. So great food but they need to sort out the dining room. It has no soul, no feeling of specialness. Who is Stutt for example? Why not theme it on him/her? Or even make it a golfing restaurant (golf course attached to hotel). Something other than a service station dining room! Visit if you're hungry and want a good feed - not for a special atmosphere.

Oh! What a disappointment! After a fantastic stay and meal here 3 years ago, this was nothing short of mediocre. The views are still great, but the dining room looks tired. The food and service were in a different universe. Certainly not two AA Rosette standard in my opinion. Sorry no photos but, to be honest, nothing of note to take photos of this time! Even had to send a glass of very musty wine back as undrinkable - most unlike me!

As alluded to in my main review, this restaurant aspires to 4 star quality but is understaffed and the food was terrible.there appeared to be 2 waiters who knew what they were doing but the young kids kept forgetting things and spilling stuff as they delivered it, everyone has to learn but I am paying top prices and expect proper service and to be able to relax. In the main restaurant at night my starter was rubbish, crab linguine, dry, no crab, too hot with chilli and looked as if it been lying for a while. The two main courses were disasters, Catch of the day, Cod was frozen and arrived under cooked and was sent back and my steak was ordered medium rare but arrived medium well and was horribly fatty.Breakfast was not great and we have had better.Looking around there was lots of errors, lamb instead of Vegetarian risotto?? and the whole atmosphere was flat and depressing. If there was problems in the kitchen? close the thing and let people know, don't flounder on in hope. The manageress was nice and desperately upset and went out of her way to recover the situation but damage was and is done

Had Easter lunch here as part of a large family gathering. Private dining room was lovely and easily accommodated us all. The food was exquisite and the portions just right for lunch. As always, I found the tea/coffee service to be disjointed to the main meal service. Coffee was lukewarm and nobody wanted tea, so the whole pot went to waste. The service otherwise was good and a couple of mixups were quickly resolved. Cost was very reasonable. The grounds and building are lovely and parking is plentiful. Well signposted entrance. My only issue was that the room was on the cold side, but it is a very large room.

Unfortunately there was only one other table occupied in a large dining room which was being set up for Christmas Day however the two young waitresses went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we had a perfectly acceptable lunch. Lovely room. Lovely setting. Menu presented in bar for you to choose from. Only after you've spent 5 minutes looking and choosing do they tell you what's not available! A bit frustrating. Waiting staff wear white gloves which seems a tad pretentious as although described as fine dining it is not a Michelin star. For dessert we were told the ice cream was a speciality and they had over 50 flavours. "Just name what you'd like"Ok. So we went through:Coffee - noMint choc chip - noBanana - no Salted caramel - noCoconut - no So we ended up with strawberry and vanilla. Not exactly pushing the boundaries of choice! Do what you do well and don't aspire to be something you're not. Food was hot and was tasty. But there was more 'not available' than available.

I had haddock - well looked a bit over cooked. before I had started to eat fish asked if everything ok-at that point said not started fish. Fish dry as if cooked prior to my visit. It looked like bought in breaded fish .Had it with the tartare sauce but should have sent it back. Didn't stay for coffee.Young server was polite.I emailed the hotel the following day and have had no response.Very disappointed .

My lunch had ingredients missing (no chutney as described) a friends had ham out of a packet you would get from a supermarket and it was like their own brand not even a premium ham and other friend in the party had soup and a sandwich. We have ate here several times over the years and our last visit was a bit of a dissappointemnt, the service was a bit erratic for example in one instance we got a cryptic commentary on the recent EU referendum, not what we wanted when supposedly fine dining. The cost of food seemed to be higher than usual and the quality was on our view less than usual, not sure if we will rush back,

We chose this restaurant for our dinner as we stayed in the hotel. We got a quite a late dinner. The choice of the food is quite limited and the best option is the tasting menu. The dishes are very well prepared with fresh food. The wine list is decent with some good choices. The service was great and we did confuse them as we ordered a second bottle of wine to be opened before we finished the first one.

The old masters restaurant is decorated nicely and has lovely views over the Perthshire hills. The restaurant was very quiet when we visited, despite the hotel being full. I think our fellow guests had gone for bar food in the golf club bar or gone in to Perth - I wish we had.The menu sounded great but everything tasted as though it had been reheated or was not fresh. Scallops were disappointing, lamb was tough, halibut was bland and over cooked and chocolate terrine looked and tasted as though it had just come out of the freezer.Staff were friendly and helpful but couldn't make up for the poor food.

For an a la Carte restaurant The Masters at Murrayshall was very disappointing. Salmon starter was the smallest starter I have ever had and way overpriced at £6.50. Whilst the salmon was nice it was a taste of it and nothing else. I chose catch of the day for a main which was Sea Breem and it did taste lovely and very succulent however there was no imagination at all. Served with chips and it was meant to be in a garlic and parsley butter but I'm not even sure I got a sauce with it. The cheese and biscuits and coffee pot were much better and what I would expect of an a la Carte. The service was far too quick and it was not a relaxing meal as the waiters were too attentive and were waiting on the last bite so they could clear the plates away. Whole meal took one hour and others in restaurant were served at similar pace. Overall, found it to be very overpriced for what you get and disappointing for a restaurant of this standard.

It has taken me too long to praise this Hotel for what can only be described as the 'perfect day'. Having arrived 3 days prior to our wedding we received first class treatment throughout our entire stay, by all who we came in contact. Our day itself was spectacular, without a doubt the very best food for a wedding, beyond restaurant standard. My only regret, the day went too fast which if Murrayshall could slow down the clocks they would have exceeded all expectations. I cannot praise this tranquil venue enough, thanks to all the team
