We only had drinks here, staff were really helpful and friendly.

Went here twice during our stay. Nice Relaxed vibe but with fancy food. The steaks were the best steaks we had in Scotland. Both times we ordered medium rare and they were perfectly cooked both times. Desserts were on point aswell with our cheesecake and sticky toffee puddings. Highly recommend

I really liked this place. Wandering around you can never be sure as a tourist which ones are nice just for a sit in and food, or if they're just pubs/hotels/restaurants etc. This place jumped out. Nice selection of drinks and easy pub food. The service was great and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

One of, if not the best place for a Scottish breakfast on the Royal Mile. Food was excellent and as was the service.

We went to have a beer and entered this bar. We were a little hungry and opted for the soup of the day and the typical Scottish dessert. The truth is that both are good and the service is good. Good location in the royal mile. Usual price for being on the royal mile.

Everything was good, the price was right, but I have had better fish & chips, the sauce and potatoes were very good, the tomato soup and the garlic bread with cheese were good, nothing more, but the fish was not of great quality, and it showed. Very friendly waitresses

We really enjoyed the food at this place, it has a nice vibe and music is not too loud. Can recommend the chicken with mushroom sauce extra much.

Living at the ibis hotel 200m away, we had dinner there twice. This is our favorite part of the stay! A young, pleasant team, a cozy and warm place, and very good dishes for a reasonable price. We recommend 1000%! Maybe see you soon for a third time before we leave…

1st time having Haggis, it was lovely and presented beautifully! The staff were lovely and friendly. I'm a lone diner and sometimes you can feel quite awkward but the staff here were very relaxed and the atmosphere was welcoming. Would definitely come back.

Had breakfast here on a short city break ! Recommend by a friend and we were not let down at all ! Got a Guinness and a Cullen skink. Good taste for the typical Scottish soup, with balance in all the ingredients. Too bad I waited a few minutes too long, I'm sure it was just a small temporary disservice.

Cocktail bar vibe. Friendly staff. We had breakfast here which was nice, but not up to a good "breakfast cafe" standard. Plenty of space, most tables free on Sat morning, useful when the above mentioned cafes are all full and some even have small queues outside.

Service was very good, people are very nice. Burgers tasted amazing and the music was nice.

Cozy place to have a drink on the Royal Mile. The variety of beers was wide and the atmosphere was pleasant. We had several beers, including the Golden Ale, which was not bad.

Having read a number of positive Google reviews, we popped in on a Sunday lunchtime and were seated quickly. We ordered two lots of their Haggis Stack and a Copper Still Burger, which were all very nice. The staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Should we be in the area again, we would definitely return.

Great atmosphere and visited more than once. Portions were small but quality of food and service were great. Would recommend a visit and sample the stacked haggis!

This had it all Beautiful and staff very attentive.. The place was full and buzzing, but they still managed to fit us in.

We went here for brunch yesterday and, overall, we were quite disappointed. Although it was only 11:30, the service was terrible. No one checked in to see if our food was okay. If they had asked, I would have gladly shared my feedback directly rather than resorting to posting it online. The staff clearly need more training to improve efficiency. The waitresses seemed to be wandering aimlessly instead of attending to guests. Orders were waiting to be taken, plates were left uncleared, and at least four other tables, including ours, had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. Looking back, I regret not asking for the service charge to be removed, as the level of service certainly didn’t justify the additional 10% on the bill. The total cost came to over £40, but the food didn’t live up to expectations. Portions were messy, my poached egg was undercooked, and my partner’s Scottish breakfast came with toast that was hard and dry. I had the eggs Benedict, which cost £15 but wasn’t worth it. The only redeeming quality was the aesthetic of the place.

We came in for a drink before a meal. We were walk ins on a Saturday night. It was quite loud in the restaurant and the service was a little slow. We were sat in the corner and there were flies everywhere too…? It was fine for a drink but I wouldn’t have stayed for dinner.

Delicious breakfast with plenty of choices, incredibly friendly staff, and a perfect location. If you're looking for a traditional Scottish breakfast/lunch, this is the place to be. P.S. The wide selection of different drinks also pleased us;-)

The atmosphere was warm, festive, and just what we were looking for to celebrate the season. The service was top-notch; the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. It was the perfect venue for a memorable night out with the team. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back!

The trick of adding service charge and saying in small print that it is optional is a dishonest way to conduct business. Serve customers, don't trick them.

We waited a very long time before getting our order but the staff was very apologetic and generous about the bill to compensate which I command because it’s rare. Things happen but being able to make it right has to be acknowledged. The food was pretty good and we had a good moment at the end so thank you for the great customer service despite the issue.

Food was delicious and in good portions. The drinks were out of this world and Jack actually made a drink for me similar to the amaretto stone but creamier I can't say enough good things about the drinks! Loved this place!

We had some lovely cocktails and a sticky toffee pudding here on a rainy Edinburgh evening. The service was fab, music was banging and the cocktails were so nice we accidentally had 3! Janine our server was attentive and friendly, highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the cold :)

Caesar salad consisted of lettuce and melba toast and a couple of bits of chicken that wasn't even chargrilled. Couldn't believe that this was £17! Shockingly presented too. Would never revisit this place. Heavily overpriced.

My dad and I had a wonderful dinner here. He had the starter version of the haggis, neeps, and tatties and Cullen skink. He loved it a lot! I had the ribeye, and it was lovely too. The service was excellent, and they were gracious to fix a mistake I had made and they did above what was necessary or expected. I was very grateful for how they treated me! Megan was our server but I'm also thankful to the kitchen staff.

Portions were small, service was slow. Breakfast came without haggis despite saying it did on the menu.

Went in with my gf and we weren't even acknowledged for a good 40 minutes. Got drinks but no food menu offered and other people who came in after us were getting food. It seemed like the staff didn't want us there and it felt very uncomfortable for us both

I went in with my partner. We sat for half an hour and watched other people come in, get offered menus and get served food whilst the staff ignored us completely. We felt very unwelcome and won't be back.

We enjoyed having brunch here, particularly as it was snowing outside! The atmosphere and service was lovely, the staff were very kind and helpful. I ordered the sourdough avocado and poached eggs on toast and I will say the serving sizes are quite small, it had very minimal butternut squash/feta but it was delicious!!

We had a real nice diner here. I can highly recommend it!

I stopped in for some food. I had the venison and it was very nicely cooked and tasted wonderful. However they never give you enough biscuits with the cheese board. That said the cheese was nice

The staff is extremely attentive and very nice. There was a good selection of dishes and the food ordered came in a good time and was hot. The taste was very good and it was enough to fill you up. The only problem that day was that the beer tap was broken and my meal was sold out. So I had to resort to alternatives twice, but they were both very good.

Great setting. However, there was not enough staff for a busy morning. The poor staff couldn't cope.Had to wait for over 30 minutes for drinks, and food was served cold and over cooked.

The beautiful interior cannot save the poor experience. Absolutely laughable portions at a steep price, plus our waitress didn't know anything about their drink menu.

The best cooked breakfast we have eaten in a long time ! Friendly and accommodating staff, we arrived toward the cut-off time for breakfasts and were seated right away. Everything was freshly cooked and perfect. The drinks were also very good and well presented. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant, perfectly located. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered haggis there, I was a bit afraid of what to expect, but it was beautifully presented and tasted excellent :) with a cider and I was happy :) I sat right by the window, at a corner table with a corner bench, which was great was casual. The only small drawback (for me) was that every time the door was opened, I immediately felt the gust of wind. That was a bit uncomfortable, but at the same time it speaks for the restaurant, because there were a lot of guests ;)

Cozy and warm restaurant with beautiful decor and friendly staff to match. Catered to allergies too. My husband enjoyed his generous serve of fish and chips with peas. My steak sandwhich was the best I've had in a while (even with a soft and fluffy long gf roll). Absolutely delicious, tender and with a smokiness that finished it off beautifully. Even the salad/dressing and chips were mouthwatering to match. Cheescake was light and fluffy and beautifully presented. Drinks were also lovely. Definitely recommend the Highlander cocktail. Thanks for a lovely and warm experience

We were very pleased with everything. Super good food. Tasted fresh. We particularly loved the grilled chicken and sourdough bread. Yum!

This place is solid and the staff are super nice. Food is good but don’t waste your money on any of the salads… opt for the steak and ale pie or the burger. No annoying kids either so that’s a plus!

The service is good and the environment too. However, the meal is not good value for money. It's expensive and only reasonable.

The food here was so delicious we came twice during our stay. We wandered in because of a tour we were meeting just outside in a couple hours. The fish dishes and soups we had both evenings were great. Staff were pleasant and quick to attend to patrons. Would recommend!

4 of us ate here during our visit to Ed Fringe. 2 of us had the fish fingers sandwich with a side of chips which was delicious. The desert menu looked tempting so 2 of us had cheesecake of the day and 1 Eton mess. The cheesecake was divine. Service was very good despite it being busy, staff very friendly. The place had a pleasant atmosphere.

Ambience okay...service really good.... Food bland and listless and extremely expensive. see photo A mini portion of pasta with a bit of chicken... for so much money 21 pounds (around €24) is currently outrageous for us and it was definitely not worth it. Haggis on puree with water from pack, in maxi muffin size 19 pounds approx. 21€...phew 75€ for what you can see in the picture...this is available in duplicate at Gorden Ramsey in St. Andrews Square. But see for yourself... You get ripped off wherever possible in Edinburgh, but that was really cheeky. In addition, the discretionary service..."voluntary" is limited. It is a fixed point on the bill. It is very questionable whether the employees will get the money. The ladies were a little too secretive about the topic. Go to the side streets (closes) and the outskirts, where it is more recommended and acceptable for the price.

We visited this venue twice during the Fringe. We ate well on both occasions and would not hesitate to return. Attractive dining room or outside seated area when the weather permits. Separate breakfast and lunch menus, both filled with well presented and tasty meals. Lovely staff who were attentive and fun.

Great place, you'd think being on the Royal Mile, they'd risk being a tourist trap, but the food and service was great. Pro tip, get the steak sandwich, bloody fantastic

No pricing on the menu, took absolutely ages to get served our drinks and even longer for the steak, the steak was fatty and vulgar, one of the women that worked there with bleached blonde hair was to busy knocking shots back behind the bar and swearing to herself, absolutely over priced I would not recommend this place

Great options for food. I had Ceasar salad with grilled chicken. Very nice! Service was friendly and quick. Good choices of drinks as well and I enjoyed a Coast to Coast beer. Right on loyal mile so great location.
