Two nights staying in the hotel this restaurant is attached to, so two nights eating here! Firstly on the way we tried to phone to ensure we got a table, the phone rang and rang but was unanswered, tried for over an hour. Mentioned it when got here “we were too busy”. First nights meal was ok but noted the menu was “tricky” bit precocious if anything and I actually said to person with me that I hoped it would be different menu next night. No it wasn’t so then I opted for the trusty steak with £11.95 surcharge!! If there is going to be a surcharge of that magnitude the dish needs to be good, it wasn’t in fact it was atrocious, tough, badly cooked and presented pathetically. The wait for some mustard just added to the frustration. Unfortunately I like staying at this hotel so no doubt will have to eat here again…..although I’d rather not, Hilton it’s time for a change please

This is a large hotel located with the Dunblane Hydro hotel. The service was friendly. The crispy pork shoulder was strange, more like a pulled pork burger without the bun. The goats cheese starter was good. Both the Salmon and the cod dishes were very good, well cooked and well presented. We when for dinner early and unfortunately the service became very slow when it to deserts as the restaurant became busy. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.

Food was delicious, well presented and sensible portions. No need to come away feeling hungry. Tasted 'quality '. A nice dining room too. Staff were all excellent, friendly and professional. Nice wine list, reasonable prices, nothing overly outrageous! Really enjoyed our dinner and would happily eat here again if nearby.

Despite previous occasions being excellent this particular evening to celebrate my wife’s birthday was a little disappointing. The wine took an unacceptably long time to reach the table. The starters were quite ordinary and the gnocchi in my main was burnt. We decided not to order desserts. Nick would not have been pleased.!

What a treat! I have always wanted to go to a Nick Nairn restaurant and to discover that the Kailyard is one of his made my stay. The prawn and smoked salmon cocktail was memorable and my husbands steak, the word delicious does not do it justice, it was full of flavour and so tender. I would recommend any one to go and eat there. You won't be disappointed!

Average is perhaps misleading, Nick Nairn’s place the the Dunblane Hydro does a good evening meal and a good breakfast. The setting is excellent, perhaps a bit chilly, but it’s a big old place. The staff are friendly and courteous. The food is very decent. It is however, at the price level, more standard than special. The hype rests on the shoulders of the location, not the kitchen.

Here for a business meeting for about 10 people, the meals were pre ordered. The staff were really lovely and they were well organised ( which sometimes doesn’t happen when you pre order). The food for me was a mix of good and disappointing! I had the chorizo tart to start which unfortunately was a little dry and bland. My main course was the duck which was excellent, very soft and perfectly cooked, but the potato fondant lacked flavour and felt as though it had been warmed through which detracted from the dish. I didn’t have desert The feedback in general was that the food was good and a couple of tweaks could have elevated it again, but could not fault the attentive service of the team

Very nice restaurant, though a little drafty at times which did chill us slightly. Nice atmosphere, didn't have to be dressy if you didn't want to. The staff were very polite and attentive, and not too long between seating and taking your order. Nice selection to choose from also catering for vegetarian and the staff also asked re allergies. My husband and I both decided upon 2 courses for £31 and so enjoyed a main and desert. We both had braised beef. It was incredible! So if you go and aren't vegetarian, it's an absolute must. For dessert, I had apple crumble and my husband had the chocolate brownie. Both were fantastic. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Staying in hotel for weekend and decided to have dinner in the kailyard restaurant on our first night. Great fine dinning without being to stuffy and relaxed atmosphere. Had the daube of beef for main course which was in particularly outstanding in flavor and melt in the mouth softness of the beef. Meal overall great and well done to chefs and front of house staff.

The service was very nice , attentive and the food looked great . The thing for me was although the food looked great the actual taste of my arrancine mushroom starter was very bland as was daub of beef main . It was expensive ! Especially the Sauvignon blanc wine at £30 when it’s retail £5.83 from Mathew Clark wine retailer . The mark up is too much . Not certain I would have dinner here again at Kailyard. Worth walking to village and eat there.

We had an overnighter in the hotel and treated ourselves to dinner here, and wow, it was absolutely exceptional! The daube of beef was absolutely perfect and incredibly tender, with wonderful flavour. All was cooked to perfection. I especially liked that children could still eat from the kids menu, and the adults could enjoy the fine dining. Usually the higher end restaurants dont always cater for children. 5* though, a lovely dining experience with attentive (but not OTT) staff. We will return!

We visited the restaurant this evening and had a very enjoyably time. The service was lovely - unrushed and considerate. A very youthful staff who are obviously well trained and courteous. The food was of a very high quality - especially the starters and mains. In our opinion the desserts need a little work to match our pallets - not enough “sweet” options. For £37 for 3 courses we thought this was very good value.

Not our first visit and food has been great the previous times we’ve been here however I was disappointed to say the least. Food taste and quality was a big let down. Tried the Chicken and Pork dishes 2nd night - again, subpar. We have wanted to come and enjoy Nick Nairn’s food for a long time, so we were excited so I write this review with regret. The service at the hydro is not great, even considering the circumstances. No excuse for seating guests in a lounge for drinks and just not coming back to see if you want another even though staff pass you every 5 mins! Then go for dinner, showed to your table order wine and the wine gets taken to the table. Red wine in a cooler, and not opened and let you taste!Order your food, soup delivered within 3 mins, shocked at the speed then asked if we could let them know if we can hold the main for 15 mins, they said, no problem!Soup was delicious and we praise this and order the main 15 mins later. It is delivered again within around 5 mins max. So disappointing.......we ordered the braised beef. The whole meal was dried out it definitely was not freshly cooked and had been sitting for a long time!We did complain and they compensated on the wine, but we would have much rather have paid for the wine and enjoyed our meal!We are here tomorrow night so can only hope we get served a nice fresh meal and we can enjoy a proper Nick Nairn experience !!!

Nick Nairn’s ‘ The Kailyard’ restaurant is in the imposing setting of the Hilton Dunblane Hydro, one sweeps up the driveway to this imposing building and I began to wonder as we did this whether I should have evening dress and diamonds on, but never fear. Inside it was actually relatively casual. Almost too casual. We had expected there to be an a la carte menu but there was just three prices. One for a starter , a main and a dessert. Undeterre we ploughed on and I had a rather good prawn and smoked salmon cocktail (very fresh ) and my husband had a monchego and chorizo tart which he declared very fine. We both opted for the lamb as a main and were very glad we had as it was quite delicious, albeit an unbalanced meal in terms of vegetables. Far too much lamb and not enough vegetables and the- I think it was- butternut squash purée in small swirls on the plate -was lost in a sea of gravy. We had just enough room for desserts and I was planning on having cheesecake but my husband saw it on another table and said it didn’t ‘ look anything special’ so we both went for the dark chocolate pave dessert. It was alright but not enough dark chocolate in it, although the hazelnut ice cream was simply superb. So overall a mixed bag. Delicious flavours overall, particularly the starters and the main but just needs a bit of tweaking. We had a rather nice South African Viognier/ Chenin blanc with our meal and the service was fabulous. But I can’t help feeling they haven’t quite decided what kind of restaurant they want to be, fine dining or more casual. Certainly any dress code ranged from jeans and t shirts to collar and ties and dresses.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton and had dinner here on Saturday night. The hotel was extremely busy and the restaurant fully booked, so I suppose we were both expecting slow service and a high probability of mistakes. How utterly wrong we were. The restaurant is very well decorated, and the tables generously spaced, so even though it was busy, we hardly really noticed the hustle and bustle around us. Table was immaculately presented, and the menu a real eclectic mix. We both had different starters, mains and deserts, and of the six dishes served to us all six were absolutely spot on. Our waiter was very helpful, and attentive but certainly not over bearing, offering advice when asked, and a smile throughout.

Had dinner in this restaurant while we were staying at the DoubleTree hotel. Started off with a glass of champagne as the setting called for it. As a starter I had the cure smoked salmon (signature dish) while my boyfriend enjoyed another signature dish; the classic cocktail of North Atlantic prawns. Both were of excellent quality and very tasty. For the mains we had the roast rump of lamb and the roasted chicken supreme. Again, brilliant quality products and perfectly prepared. The roasted chicken comes with small Haggis bonbons. Perfect way to try haggis for a first timer and tastes amazing ;) As the main courses were decently sized we decided to share a cheese platter for dessert which were served with oatcakes and homemade chutney. The cheeses were also of good quality but were still a little bit too cold for our taste, felt as if they came straight out of the fridge. Overall, great experience, good price-quality and very friendly service. Highly recommended!

The occasion for the meal was an early celebration and our choice was more than justified. Beginning with a warm welcome and a server who was well trained and familiar with the menu and the wine list. We had four different mains all well cooked and presented with hot food hot!! The starters included my favorite, a fish cocktail including prawns, salmon and avocado well blended. The cheese board included three cheeses of artisan varieties and a delightful chutney.

Good food but undermined by resturent in dire need of a good clean and a freshening up of the decor.

Had a lovely meal, great service. Booked a table for 7.30pm as reservations were recommended. Restaurant was quite busy for mid week. We had the sharing bread dish to start, both had the steak, side salad, both had the orange cheesecake. Food was well presented and delicious. We will certainly be back as I want to try the carrot cake next time! And the chips were out of this world!

No athmosphere; Small, cheap looking tables, no tablecloth; expensive dishes and side-dishes are far beyond resonable prize in respect to quality. Wine-list and quality are not what it should be as advertised. Seems to be not well organized... sorry but unexpected bad experience...

Can highly recommend The Kailyard at Doubletree By Hilton. The food was of very high quality, excellent for any special occasion, & the service extremely professional. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. A real treat.

As mentioned on the hotels trip advisor page, we recently said 2 nights and ate in this restaurant on our first night. My partner ordered a sirloin steak which was rubber like in texture and tasted very cheap and I order a cheeseburger with was also cheap tasting and I have ate a better burger at McDonald’s which says something. Overall very disappointed with this restaurant which could have a lot going for it. Shame really

We had 3 consecutive days a dinner at this restaurant. The service is consistent, however it misses warmth and character.

Enjoyed a family meal at the Kailyard to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Could not fault the service and attention to detail by all staff. Menu was varied and something to suit everyone, and good selection of drinks.

Maybe we had too high of expectations, but when. Its asosiated with Nick Nairn I was think this would be wow. All in all it was good but not outstanding. We were expecting it to be very different and it wasn't, the supplements also are very expensive. We both had the salmon and prawns starter it was a large portion but nothing different. Then we both had steaks, they were cook perfectly but I had whisky sauce it could have been anything and my wife had peppercorn and even that was tasteless. We didn't have desserts so I can't comment. I would suggest you both early on as it's hard to get a table.

We went to the Kailyard a couple of years ago and could not fault it as all the food was fantastic. However our recent visit was very different. Food was very average and steak in particular was poor-tough and tasteless. Deserts were disappointing. Felt overcharged when the £80 bill arrived. Staff and setting were wonderful but sadly we will not be returning to the Kailyard as the food is not up to the standard it should be.

Had the salmon fish cakes which were really good then cod for main was a bit dry but everything else was nice and the skin on the cod wasn't crispy, didn't have dessert but they looked good when I saw some on the table next to us. Nice service and very relaxing restaurant, pretty good for a Hilton restaurant.

Milkshake was of really bad quality - super watery and tasteless. The fruit booster drink was also of the same quality. Food was average. Just disappointed with the quality of drinks as they are pricey and we couldn't finish them so was just a waste of money. Wouldn't come back.

Not open during published open hours. We tried to call in for a drink at 1 pm as a halfway stop on our hike on 10.10.24. The lights were on, the radio blaring and a dog barking, but no one answered. There was no closed sign, and their website said it was open, so we rang both website numbers to see if it was due to open soon - no answer. It seems it's not a place to pop in for anything without notice!
