Great experience at this restaurant! Their vibe is really cozy and the servers are lovely. We got the spicy egg wrap and Linguini. The egg wrap was just right amount of spicy and had great flavour with sautéed veggies. The linguini was my favourite! So creamy and yummy. Will definitely be back here whenever I visit Skye again. ⛰️🫶🏻

Oh wt a sweet place with very sweet staff. Their soup of the day was carrot lentil. It was just amazing n bagel hummus tomato was also good. Oats of the world berry flavoured smoothie was actually out of the world. Must check out place if in Portree

A nice cafe. Tea and the soup of the day were good. The service team is very friendly, but also a bit chaotic. This leads to quite long waiting times.

We haven’t had a good experience in this place, as in the whole of Portree, where there are only a few places where one can eat some food. To have three basic sandwiches—really nothing special—we have been waiting for 45 minutes, while many other custom had been sitting for a while and left when they realized that nobody was even approaching them to take an order.

A horrendously touristy spot that we reluctantly stumbled upon when our first-choice destination was fully booked. The food was an absolute disaster, lacking any hint of flavor or culinary finesse. To add insult to injury, the staff behaved like vultures, constantly badgering us to place an order and practically pushing us out the door the moment our plates were cleared. It felt as if they were more interested in raking in the cash from the hordes of unsuspecting tourists than providing any semblance of decent service or hospitality. Save yourself the misery and steer clear of this place at all costs!

The food is not bad to get by, since there is not much on offer in the town. The service is infuriatingly slow and inattentive, although correct and polite.

Excellent coffee. The portions are generous too. The smoked salmon bagel is very good.

High quality food and okay portion sizes. Prices are touristy high, but you're in Portree so that's to be expected. Great service!

My wife and I love this place and come here often when we have occasion to come down from the North of Skye where we live. The tea, my wife tells me, is perfect and the coffee for me is on point. The chips in a bowl are a moderate portion (not as much as you would get from the chippy down the road) and the scones a delight.

Extremely packed. However, was able to find a table pretty quick since I was a party of 1. I ordered soup of the day, coke, and BLT sandwich. Staff were friendly, bathrooms were cleaned and food was good. Very loud when packed.

A warm place to drink or eat when it's raining outside. For me, it was a well presented latte! On the other hand, don't be in too much of a hurry. Here, we take our time.

We stumbled upon this place and really enjoyed the old school charm of a quiet cup of tea and a hot chocolate along with a couple of BLT Bagguettes for a light lunch. While ordering my Wife ordered a small tart as a treat for us to share and what a treat it was, we couldn't leave without getting two more for our travels. Sitting in this Cafe and enjoying a Cup of Tea like that could easily have taken place a hundred years ago!

One of the few cafés also open on Sundays/holidays. Excellent American coffee and pastries (the cinnamon one in particular), combined with kindness.

Ordered pizza for collection and it was ready in 10mins and delicious

After a hike in the rain we were happy to find this cafe. A homemade soup to warm us up, a sandwich to settle our stomachs, and a homemade ice cream for pleasure. The team is dynamic and smiling. We had a great time.

Visited here during a cruise which called at Portree in Skye. Went in the café at lunchtime for quick refreshment. We had a nice pot of tea between us and shared a delicious almond slice. Service was prompt and friendly, and the café was popular with locals and visitors.

Helpful staff, plenty of booths/seating. The morning we visited there was no cooked breakfasts but the girls had pastries and lovely hot chocolates. Looks like a varied menu, including deserts and gelato on a regular day. Easy to find and parking was ok because it was a stormy day in March 😁

Purtroppo questo storico locale ha definitivamente chiuso, non è sopravvissuto al fermo per il coronavirus . Ci mancherà moltissimo, per i suoi orari, per la cucina aperta a tutte le ore, per la meraviglia di lingue giovani parlate in sala..

Afortunadamente, pudimos conseguir una mesa en The Caledonian Cafe después de caminar por la ciudad y ser excluidos de cualquier otro lugar. (Gran recomendación: si está visitando esta área, obtenga RESERVAS ANTICIPADAS). El lugar estaba lleno, pero no tuvimos una larga espera y el servicio fue atentoQueriendo probar pescado y patatas fritas originales mientras estaba en el Reino Unido, esta fue la noche. El pescado estaba sabroso, no grasoso ni recocido. Lo mismo pasa con las patatas fritas. La cena, los refrescos, una cerveza y un café para tres costaba unos 60 dólares.

The food here is amazing, and a good prices too. The ice cream desserts are simply phenomenal! All the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. We were only in Portree three times during our holiday but every time we made this our watering hole. If only I could lift it and the staff up and transport it back home I'd be a very happy man!

Really enjoyed eating at the Caledonian Café, the service was great, and very friendly. There was a little wait, because they don't take bookings, but it was well worth it.

For affordable, high-quality food, this was the best place I found in a city with good restaurants everywhere.

The place was crowded and the wait for food was long, but we really enjoyed our meal. We tried the ciabatta chicken, smoked bacon, mango chutney and cream cheese, as well as the ciabatta ham, mozzarella, pesto, and sun-blushed tomatoes. Both were a reasonable Ł 8.50.

This was a lovely place to eat. In the busy times of the year, reservations are needed. The food was wonderful, the staff were very friendly. This cafe is located in the main square in the town of Portree.

Arrived in town quite late afternoon and expected to find limited meal choices on a Sunday. Surprised to stumble upon The Caledonian Cafe after just a few minutes of walking. Nice surprise. Met another vegetarian couple struggling to find a nice meal choice, we all tried dinner there.Cute little cafe with an historic atmosphere. Only a few booths inside the cafe adding a cozy feel to dinner.My partner and I both started off with a hot Cappuccino that was just wonderful on a damp cool day that was served with chocolate dust on top.We both ordered the Macaroni and Cheese entree served with Fries on the side. Wow, this dish was cheesy!! Perfect combination of macaroni and cheese topped with Mozzarella and Cheddar Cheese and baked until crispy. Perfect meal choice and the fries were an added surprise.We only waited about 10 minutes to get a seat at the cafe. Service was exceptional and the prices were reasonable with the cost of £3.00 for each coffee and the entree was £10.95 each.Nice quick meal only a block from the public parking and close to the downtown area. Worth a try. The non-meat burgers looked amazing!

Great staff serving fresh and flavourful items. Food was served quickly, prepared weLloyd and all for very reasonable prices.

We had a large group and ordered takeout. The service was excellent - the food was nothing special but was good - I think if we had eaten there it would have been better because things like french fries got a bit soggy. The real benefit for us was that we had 23 people we needed dinner for and being able to do take out was perfect!

Small restaurant, friendly service, tortillas were delicious, unfortunately a bit dark on the outside and the cheese wasn't completely melted on the inside - but still tasted great! The fish was a bit dry, but the fries were very tasty! Would come again!

When clearing dirty cutlery seems to be to much of a mission and sitting at dirty tables from the Outset, you tend to be put off your meal. The food wasn’t great and the service poor. There are many other eating houses in portree to choose from.

Ducked in here because it was dry and didn't seem overpriced (like a lot of places in town). Once I got a table I ordered the fish & chips which arrived quite quickly (maybe it's a British touristy area thing). The chips were more like wedges, which was fine, and while the fish was good I was expecting a lot more from a harbour town.

Quaint little pub style restaurant. Had the fish and chips and have never seen a piece of haddock that big. Good service.

We had exactly an hour and 15 minutes to find a lunch spot and get back on our tour bus. We randomly found this busy cafe in the downtown area. It was busy, but we were seated in only a few minutes. We both had their fish and chips, oh my I have never had chips so good, and the fish was so tasty and fresh.

Some really nice food and good service. No reservations so first come first serve, which in our case was a 10 minute wait. Worth the wait!

Superb fast and friendly service - good food. The Vegetable Soup and Mushroom Sliders were excellent. The Mushroom Spaghetti was decent. Located in the town centre. Normally a bit of a wait required since it is so popular.

I stopped where a bit before 6pm, asked if they had a table for 1, they sat me and I ordered the fish and chips with a strawberry thistly cross cider, it was the best fish and chips i've had during my time in scotland. Food was great, service was great, don't think you can go wrong here.

We went here three times for dinner while staying in Portree. Very nice place with really good vegan options.

My friend and I walked in here when we were on a tour and it was very busy , we did not even have to get to the "Wait here to be seated sign" before we were greeted by the most friendly ,funny and welcoming chap called Sandy. My friend had fish and chips which she said was the best she had ever had and I had a mix of starters and side orders as a main which was no trouble, Although the food was fantastic the whole experience was made so much better by our server Sandy, he was very busy but constantly keeping an eye open and checking on us, Having a little chat and generally going above and beyond the best service I have ever received. I know this may sound like a friend bigging up their mate on TripAdvisor but we only knew this chap for 90 minutes ! Not only him the fab barman and the girl at the till , So if you want great food and also want to feel the most welcome you ever have then call in , Thanks everybody and keep up the great job xx

Les plats sont Bien cuisines ,agréablement présentes et copieux.le service est efficace et personnel agréable.

Fish and chips were crunchy and served with a good portion! My parents loved it. We had a few in other places but nothing like this! It gets very busy in lunch time so be patient to wait for go early.

Lo primero, lo escogimos porque fue el único sitio que no estaba lleno en Portree, dado que trabajan con sistema de lista de espera, pero no fue una decepción. Para ser Escocia, nos sirvieron relativamente rápido. Aunque es una cafetería heladería tiene muchas opciones calientes y de pescado y marisco. Los mejillones con salsa de nata y vino blanco estaban buenísimos, mejillones pequeñitos y muy tiernos. Los linguine con salmón y gambas excelentes, bien cocinados. Nuestros amigos eligieron lubina, (plato especial del día) y salmón , y dijeron también que estaba muy buenos. Hay menú de niños.

Nous avons trouvé de la place directement. Les plats sont son surtout ceux à base de poissons, car poisson frais et donc aliments de qualité. Bonne ambiance service sympa et rapide et cadre chaleureux.
