Ralia Cafe in Highland

A great little cafe in a lovely spot. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Indoors its quite a large space, outside they have a mezzanine seating area at tree top level. There is a nice little circular walk from the cafe for dog walkers, and a slightly longer woodland walk over the road. Plenty of picnic tables in the car park under the trees. A nice place to visit.

Tasty soup and coffee served up by cheery staff at affordable prices for a refreshing pit stop on the road to the Scottish Highlands. One to revisit on the way back and bookmark for the future.

Super nice service, prices are completely reasonable. The atmosphere is totally heartless. You could make so many nice things out of it...but if you want a coffee and a snack, this is the perfect place for you.

Just dropped in here after a long drive for a break, coffee and and a sandwich. Very nice place and service.

Recently stopped off on the way to Inverness. Lots of parking, an area to walk dogs, customer toilets or small donation asked for by anyone not buying. Great selection of food offered even though nearing 2pm, the sandwich I had tasted really good, fresh bread and the rocky road was one of the best I’ve had. Staff were friendly.

This cafe is a must visit everything we head up into the Cairngorms. The staff are lovely, the food is always good and there is plenty of parking.

Commute from Sutherland to Edinburgh often and stop here every time I'm able. Great coffee, well made and generously filled sandwiches, classic soup options and wide selection of nibbley bits too. Staff are always smiley and polite. Toilets can be a little cold but they are 1000+ft above sea level!

It's pretty much the last place to rest up or use the toilets between the cafe and Inverness.

Absolutely exceptional service from a wonderful gentlemen who walked me (single girl travelling) to my car in an isolated area without hesitation - coffee was amazing too!!! Great little stop off - thanks guys xxxxx

Stopped here for a coffee on our way to Lairg. The food was lovely, we had some shortbread biscuits with our coffee and took some sandwiches away for later, they were delicious, much nicer than the usual pre-packed sandwich that you get on the road. My husband and I loved the highland cow! 😁

Called into the Ralia cafe for a coffee on the long journey up the A9. What a lovely place for a break I had a flat white and a sandwich and both of them were delicious… the sandwich was one of the freshest and tastiest ones I’ve ever had. Nice big car parks that will accommodate not only cars but motor homes and caravans too. Toilets available … free if you use the café facilities and 30p if you don’t Two friendly helpful members of staff on duty. I shall definitely stop again next time and if you’re travelling on the A9 I suggest you do too!

A very welcome independently run cafe to take a break from driving the A9. Freshly made soup(s) with a range of sandwiches, toasties and snacks available. Great coffe, teas and other drinks too. Flexible seating with phone charging points and wifi available, catch up with messages while taking a break from the road. A limited range of gifts and souvenirs also avalable. Plenty of tourist brouchers to give ideas for visitors to the area.

We found this lovely cafe by accident but so grateful we did. We had drinks and cake and if we hadn't had a large breakfast we would have had the soup, the smell was going round our hearts. Staff welcoming, plenty parking and public toilets. We could have sat there all afternoon watching the birds outside, such a peaceful vibe. Would make a point of going there again next time we're in the area.

Nice place to stop for coffee, snacks, sandwiches, and soup. We had a potato and leek soup - home style, simple and delicious.

Superb cafe with at a really nice spot and the coffee and the snacks there are amazing. The service was really good. There are toilets and the cafe is really nice wee one. It's a nice stop on the way to inverness and highlands. There is nice parking space and walkway. Surely you will love it. We had sandwiches and They were really tasty.

Great little place to stop on the long drive up to the Elgin though the Highlands. Clean toilets reasonable priced food and drinks in a lovely setting. Ideal place for when you need a break.

A lovely cafe and so convenient for the A9. Easy parking surrounded by trees, plus picnic tables if you are doing your own thing (they ask you to contribute 30 p towards the toilets if you are not using the cafe). But the cafe serves really nice coffee with a range of foods as well. Much more relaxed than the alternative, a few miles to the south.

Updated 28/10/24 Wee quick stop. Grabbed a sandwich, something sweet and used the facilities (free for customers and a polite request to pay 30p if non customer to keep the upkeep of the place. Picnic or grab lunch there. Not an extensive menu but what they do have is nice. Indoor or outdoors. Soup, sandwich, cakes and ice cream is about the jist of it. Toilets available. Stairs up to the cafe. Animal friendly too. Loads of dogs, we travel with a cat.

This place has been a regular stop off, but the sandwiches were disappointing. I would have expected them to be sourced locally and there were lights out in a portion of the restaurant area. It just looked a little unloved. It wouldn't take huge changes to make a difference.

Ralia is a cute driving pitstop just half a mile ish off the A9 route Inverness/Glasgow/edin. No fuel. Picnic benches in green trees and free parking while you go up the stairs to the hexagonal shaped little building with windows onto the trees and get a reasonably priced coffee (2 hot drinks here about the same as 1 coffee in House of Bruar!) Baking and sandwiches. Toilets on ground floor. Friendly, Refreshingly local, clean but not super-fancy, and non- chain. Recommended!

Lovely place to take a break off the A9

A lovely wee gem of a place, perfect to stop and enjoy a coffee.

I gave the food a 1 as had to put something, had 4 drinks and 4 toast and bacon as that was the only option for breakfast. They were already made up in the fridge in a toaster bag then put in a toaster to heat up. Bacon was more fat than anything and all 4 of us just ate the toast. Would not recommend this place for food😡, maybe just a coffee and a cake if you have to stop but I would stop in Aviemore

We stop here a lot and I love everything about it. The food and drinks are just right right and the staff are friendly.

Sorry to say but the most atrocious coffee I've had in a long time. My partners Americano tasted like it was watered down and the same for my Latte, a vague hint of coffee but not much more. Very disappointing, especially as a pick me up on a long drive North

This is one of few places to stop in the road. We stopped on both ways. The food and coffee are acceptable. The customer service is extremely poor.

Basic but good cafe. Straight off the A9. A customer left his wallet on a tray and the staff scoured the carpark to find him, speaks volumes.

Fairly seedy looking balcony area, selling stale pre-packed cheese ploughman’s sandwiches. Really gone down hill in that regard since it was doing its own home made ones. The girl behind the till was the very definition of gormless and had to be reminded to serve us, eventually.

Very disappointed with this cafe. Wish I hadn’t bothered to pull off the main road. Very little choice for food. Prepacked sandwiches and some biscuits. The only items available for breakfast was a pre packed porridge pot , toast or a bacon sandwich. I tried the porridge pot which was as bland as I expected. The latte was awful, one of the worst coffees I’ve ever had. Seating is mostly very uncomfortable. Not everyone wants to sit on a high chair Such a shame as lovely surroundings

A good stopping point on the A9

Had read a glowing report on FB so decided to Stop when passing. No White Bread Sandwiches, not everyone can eat Brown Bread. I got a Gluten Free Sandwich, paid over a £1 extra for the privilege but couldn't taste the Filling. Building has wood rotting all the way round. Toilet wouldn't flush either. Wouldn't Return.

This cafe was a welcome break on a road not too full of service centres. It was a convenient place to stop on the way, but there wasn't too much by way of choice in food. The people at the counter were very friendly.

Bacon toasted sandwich - stunning!

Stunnng location, plenty of parking spaces. Food well over priced, £4 for a pre packed sarnie.... price of soft drinks over inflated.. there is 5 of us so you soon slip in to over £30 just for a short break.. the staff were friendly. Toilets were a little on the grotty side, but to be fair it was busy.

Long day's travelling on a Sunday. We usually stop here on the journey but we weren't sure it would be open on Sunday late afternoon and it was! Great soup and sandwiches..friendly staff..great for walking the dog too and lovely wee shop with doggie treats as well.

I've stopped here many many times as a delivery driver and now on holidays as I'm retired. It used to have straight forward food like bacon rolls but changed to toasties. People/staff are nice and helpful.

We’ve been stopping at the Ralia Cafe for years. It’s been an ideal place to break our frequent journeys to Inverness. Great coffee and a selection of sandwiches and cakes. They also do soup. Unfortunately they don’t seem to do bacon rolls. Friendly staff and pleasant surroundings.

Only stopped to use the toilets, lovely and clean and they are happy for non customers to use with a 30p donation. Well worth it, plenty of parking

Probably the only place with public toilets open 24/7 year round on the A9 between Perth and Inverness. There is also a cafe but more restricted opening. Picnic facilities However, £4.35 for a sandwich is an utter ripoff - That's about £1 more than M&S and about £2 more than Aldi or Lidl.

Excellent wee cafe and rest area, very busy at times. Some people just park wherever they like no matter how awkward it is to get past.

A cafe for the flow of people. Neither nice nor unpleasant. Ordinary. There's a draft inside because all the doors are open. However, a nice bull greets us in the parking lot.

Typical “services” stop. Clean washrooms. Priced in accordance with this type of food stop. Advertised as dog-friendly, which is why it was chosen, but pooches are only permitted on the terrace, exposed to the wind and rain, so only any good for dog-lovers on the rare dry, warm day in Scotland.

We were disappointed that it's now pay on app. Last time was free parking. Will definitely put people off visiting

Stopped on the way up North for a quick bite to eat. Yes the food is not the cheapest but the quality of the sandwiches is fantastic! Very tasty, very fresh and very full! Great coffee and tea too. Fab place for the dog to stretch his legs on a log journey. Couldn’t fault it. So much so that we stopped again on the way back down south. Lots of moans on here about the staff. The whole family in front of me were awful, picked up and threw down every sandwich in the fridge, demanded ketchup without a please or thank you. The young lad serving me after them was really pleasant, asking where I had travelled from etc. talk nicely to the staff and they will be nice back. It isn’t rocket science!

Fantastic stop on the way to Inverness. If you're stopping for the toilet please either pay a bit as you go in or go and buy a coffee and a cake or a bowl of soup. These facilities aren't free to keep clean and it's not fair to expect the owners to keep stumping up the cash to maintain them. By the way, the soup was amazing! And the coffee hit the spot.

Very efficient service dealing with a constant queue of customers. All with a friendly face and pleasant manner.
