We dropped into the Dairy and Daviot on a whim as we drove by for some lunch. The place was let down by its service. The food was good, I had mac and cheese which was lovely. But the young people waiting were slow to respond and it wasn't that busy. At one point I went up to the cashier at the Cafe counter and he was more interested in typing on his phone than serving. There was one young woman who was very friendly and efficient but her colleagues let her down.On the other hand, the playground is excellent and our daughter had a ball on the trampoline. So it was a bit of a mixed bag. If they upped their service I think the place could be really excellent.

This accommodation has surprised and surpassed our expectations in terms of furnishing, spaciousness and location. It’s a good one for a quiet family vacation offering possibilities to do many walks of different levels. The kitchen is fully equipped including all the necessary home appliances. The location is a short drive from Inverness city centre and has its own cafe and restaurant. There is a parking for every unit which is quite useful during rainy season. It’s a easy recommendation for anyone willing to explore Inverness and Forest Adventure Park.

I went to The Dairy the other day for the first time in 8 years ago, and oh boy has it changed! Not only is the decor tired and outdated (filthy scratched up couches and stained tables) but the food is just simply not up to standards. The chef seems to think it’s a good idea to mix traditional Scottish/European foods with an Eastern twist, which in some cases could be considered delicious and tasty but not in this circumstance. With food standards so low it baffled me at the price of our bill, this place is trying to be upper class and sophisticated but at the same time is advertising as a ‘family restaurant’. Get a grip. I miss the old atmosphere of the place, The Dairy used to be booming with lots of atmosphere and charisma about the joint. You would be be lucky to get a table for Sunday grub! But now the place is practically a ghost town. The only thing keeping the place going is the ice cream, but with staff leaving the scoopers in the ice cream it’s quite simply off putting! The staff seem to be nice and warm but don’t seem to be motivated enough to ensure plates are removed from tables. When we sat down, me and my wife noticed there was a table full of plates and not once did someone go over to clear it for the duration of our stay. In conclusion, you simply do not get what you pay for when it comes to The Dairy at Daviot and good food is simply hard to come by at this sorry sight...

I’ve visited here numerous times since it first opened. For me, the service style has improved, with table service now, although I used to enjoy the buffets, but the quality of cooking has definitely deteriorated badly. The tasty roasts, beautiful veg and flavours have been replaced with bland, over priced dishes and a slap dash presentation that doesn’t appeal. The ice cream is still good but not worth another visit for me.

Food took ages and tables before us were served first. Food was also poor, certainly not of the standard had before. The waitress seemed quite focussed and tried to clear away plates before all of us had finished. Me and my friend Louise decided to visit this beautiful looking establishment, with beautiful scenery and a lovely renovated barn style interior. We were quickly seated by a lovely young gentleman who looked like a trainee, and gave us our menus where we bestowed our eyes of the jaw dropping prices of drinks. I opted for the Cullen skink and bread combo and was extremely disappointed, the meal arrived thirty minutes late when I had to ask a nice young lady to chase my meal up as my friend already had hers. When it arrived I was disgusted... The texture was strange and gloopy, making it hard to even eat with salt and pepper. I wanted a bit of redemption from the “fresh” bread which was in front of me but was AGAIN disappointed as the bread had obviously gone off as it looked Mouldy and was very chewy. When I went to the desk to complain to the Manager, I heard no apology and received a little rant about how the bread was fresh (almost like a toddler). He said I would receive a discount on my meal, which was only a measly one pound discount. To say the least I was fuming. When my friend finished her lasagna which she stated was bland and reheated, she followed up with a toffee cake which was surprisingly very tasty. Shortly after though, we witnessed the manager handling cakes (WITH HIS OWN HANDS) and picking corners off to taste if they were fresh. Mortified, we quickly got off our seats and paid for the extortionate meals. Quite frankly, this place could be a gold mine but with poor management and abysmal food it turns this place into another Brewers fayer or Beefeater restaurant. Will not be returning!

Had the most disappointing experience from the staff at this place. Went in with my wife and daughter for lunch and I was told we had to pay for food at the time of order. At the time it did not feel unusual only to find out soon that they were fine with rest of the customers paying after they had their meals. I asked why we were asked to pay upfront to the guy who served us to which the reply was “ sometimes we ask people to pay upfront. Don’t worry, we trust you”. We left without finishing the food. Quite disgusted that it ruined our whole day.

Decided to go out for breakfast as a treat but so disappointed. Full English breakfast isn’t actually served- it’s just breakfast rolls with fillings, at £4.95 for one roll with coffee and £5.65 for 2 fillings it’s way overpriced. Sausage on a roll was exactly that - one sausage split in half! The place was empty on a Saturday morning (apart from ourselves), perhaps the pricing is a reason for that.

Just few miles north of Aviemore and a few miles south of inverness, the Dairy at Daviot, just off the A9, is a nice alternative to the busier towns of either when you want a nice bite to eat. Great place, tasty food, value for money and attentive staff For 2 of us, we had a main each and we shared a starter and a dessert, total bill with a drink each was under £70!

Always excellent and very friendly service here. Very good quality and generous fillings in a wide range of sandwiches and delicious home made soups. Regularly coffee stop for me travelling to and from Edinburgh.
