The best restaurants serving British food in England

Saw a write up somewhere at the end of the summer saying this pub had been voted Pub Of The Year by Visit England so I thought it would be nice to give it a try. What better an opportunity than for my birthday? Nice simple online booking which is always a bonus for me. It was just under an hours drive from us along the lovely new A30, half term was finished so it was quieter than usual thankfully. Staff were really friendly and the pub is beautiful inside, laid out nicely, plenty of tables but without being cheek by jowl to anyone else. We both ordered roast beef, there was a bit of a wait for the food to come but you don’t mind when you know it’s all fresh and comes out looking and tasting like it did. Portion size was absolutely spot on and came with extra gravy in a jug which is a nice touch. Highly recommend and will definitely be back before the start of the next summer season. The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

Called into Cafe Main today for lunch. Friendly staff, good service and great crab sandwiches. Highly recommended. Food was fairly priced and well presented.

Steak was an absolute winner my partner said! I really enjoyed the sea bass, extremely generous! You cannot miss out on the homemade Kent Gypsy Tart! Wonderful friendly atmosphere, the team could not do enough to help you enjoy the experience. Definitely will be back when I’m in Kent again!

Fantastic find on our day trip to Bude. My husband had a delicious gluten free breakfast (finding somewhere good that's gluten free isn't always easy) and I enjoyed the American pancakes & a cappuccino. A quaint little place with a good atmosphere (music, layout etc). I would definitely return if I was ever in Bude again!

Great food, really nice atmosphere. Often have lunch here. I love their burgers. Staff are friendly.

Fab location and prices seemed reasonable. Had a coffee that was cold and a piece of flapjack that was awful. It was almost like it wasn't cooked. Took one mouthfull and left the rest which was a shame as we'd walked a few miles to get there. Shame our experience wasn't as good as everyone else's.

Excellent bottomless brunch- 2 hours, plenty of choice of both food and drinks. Service from Tilly & Eth was excellent - defo recommend and will defo be back !!! Thank you

We had our daughter's Christening here and it was lovely. The buffet was lovely and plenty of food, everyone complimented it. We would definitely come here again. The staff were brilliant and worked very hard. The lovely open fires were a fantastic touch,it's very warm and welcoming! Definitely worth a visit!! Thanks again to the White Hart

First time we've eaten here since new management took over. The Sunday lunch was excellent, couldn't fault the service and the staff all very friendly. We will be back!

Really fresh tasty fish, cooked to order, always piping hot, always good sized portions and the staff are lovely too.

Yet again a wonderful Sunday lunch. An abundance of veg and melt in the mouth meat of your choice. Zara is always so warm and welcoming, staff polite and very attentive. If you havnt tried this wonderful pub yet be sure to put it on your list of places to try 😊

Early morning coffee and tea cakes. Both were great and served by two very friendly staff. A relaxed atmosphere with great music.
