Stopped in as recommended by campsite..glad we did visited twice ...good honest food done really well and fresh and good beer..glad went early thurs as quiz on later and busy table reservations

Great service. Staff and regulars are so welcoming. Spent 3 evenings for dinner and lunch 1 day. Wish we lived nearer this would definitely be our local. Food is amazing and massive portions, great selection of gins and good selection of ales and beers

Possibly the finest pub in Canterbury. Tucked away along a narrow lane in the southern end of the town, The Two Sawyers offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a great selection of food and drink. The Steak & Stilton pie was excellent as were the several different beers I tried over a couple of evenings. Great place to go as a group and welcoming if you're travelling solo and just want to read a book. Huge selection of Gins too with an important sign outside to help you locate it. Five stars.

Really pleased we found this lovely place. Great atmosphere with selection of background music for all tastes. Food not only great quality, but loads if it, at a reasonable price. Small selection of draught beers, more larger available. Big range of gin to choose from. Clean facilities as well

Stayed at the CCC site in Canterbury where we were offered a 10% discount. The food! Wine and beer were fantastic. Particularly the chef and bar maid I could see running around, keeping everyone hapoy. Great foid, great staff. You've got this just right. Thanks for a lovely evening. I had cottage pie and my husband had the cheese burger. Awesome. Glad we had a mile walk up the hill to walk it off. I seriously can't belive how much I ate 😘

Nice pub with some decent seating outside, which was free to sit at. They book everything up inside so ring ahead to avoid disappointment. They were kind enough to let us sit there until the other people came.

My wife & I had a meal here and the chef, Jake, and the bar person, Jess, could not have been more friendly and helpful. The food was brilliant, chilli and Mediterranean tart was fab. Lovely place and a great experience all round. Definitely recommend.

We always return for a visit when we are in Canterbury. This time four of us celebrating my mother in laws 70th, greeted with a smile by the bar tender. Could not fault the service and the food was delicious again and will continue to come back. Thank you for having us.

Great beer and large portions of amazing food...

Typical English pub with internal and external spaces: you can choose many different beers, both local and international, and there is also another variety of drinks such as the very current bottles of Fever Tree (flavoured tonic water, however nothing special compared to the most known Schweppes). We enjoyed an excellent Pale Ale accompanied by traditional Kent crisps in different flavours: Kent Crisps.

Nice quiet pub away from the hustle and bustle of Canterbury city centre. Really, really clean! Good food, great beer and lots of character.

Oh my goodness! Quiz night at the Two Sawyers is a fun experience. If you book a table (most recommended because it’s a packed evening) there’s 10% off the food served beforehand. Emma is the Quiz Master and by crikey her word is law, which is just as well there’s often a feisty crowd in from the local universities and colleges ready to dispute the exact English meaning of the Olympic motto Citius - Altius - Fortius. So if you after an authentic Canterbury experience do come along.

I had one Mariette drink than left. Service was ok the girl served me and I just drunk that and left. Bathroom was clean 🤔🤔

What's not to like about this Proper pub, great food and nice prices. Great atmosphere and oldie music just what we like. Attentive staff - there are not enough superlatives to describe this place - our first visit & we did come back

A lovely, family run pub with a very friendly team. A great selection of drinks on offer and well kept ales. The food is highly recommended and this is a great place to spend a few hours letting the world go by. There is also a beer garden outside.

Went to the two sawyers after reading good reviews and seeing they were dog friendly. Left feeling very disappointed. We sat in a side room off the bar but had to constantly attract the attention of the bar staff for drinks, to order food and get the bill. We waited a long period each time until we gave up to get any kind of service. The food was ok but the service was pretty much nonexistent.

Away with a group of friends of 47 years standing, ‘doing’ various preserved railways in Kent, staying at the nearby Travelodge. Discovered the Two Sawyers on the first night - what a find! Outstanding in every respect. Superb food (ham egg and chips is the best I’ve ever eaten!). Really friendly and fun staff, well kept and interesting beers. Great music!

Pub foods, but surprisingly good! Ordered pie of the day (choice of steak & stilton / chicken and ham) and Home cooked ham. Huge portion and prepared with heart. Usually pies & gravy are very salty, but theirs is not! A happy meal!

Brilliant food and cool outdoor area

Didn't get a chance to try the food as I was only passing through town. Stopped for a Sheep Dog Single, and it was delicious on ice. Staff friendly, pub is brilliant. Nice selection of Kent Crisps. Food served, would love to try some day. Recommend.

You can’t order desert here!! They have it. It’s just physically not possible to eat anything else after a main meal. The portions are excellent value by today’s standards. The quality, taste and attention to detail on each plate is always amazing. The chefs working today in particular (lunch service, 02/06/24) smashed it. The pub is so cozy and the outdoor area has had some great renovations. Myself and a friend also went there for drinks last night and the woman tending the bar was fantastic, serving friendly conversation and pretty G&Ts with fruit. So gutted to be moving away, will miss this place! Such a rare gem. Thanks for the last 5 years(ish) of exceptional service Two Sawyers staff!

Pictures do not do it justice, such a cute cosy little pub, not too loud, not rowdy, perfect for sit down and a chat, families, toilets clean, tables clean. Quaint little hidden back street, great find.

Had Sunday lunch which was lovely. They made a mistake on my wife's order and once we told them, they couldn't have been more accommodating in making it right. Friendly barman and chef and really friendly landlord. Local pub, extremely cosey and with a warm welcome. Would definitely call again the next time we're in this area and would highly recommend.

Had Sunday lunch feta and spinach pie was so tasty husband had the chicken. Roasted fresh veg cooked perfectly. Everything was brilliant service and food definitely recommend two sawyers.

This pub was a superb find when in need of a good lunch. We got a very warm welcome from the bar lady when we arrived, I think she was actually the owner, made the choice for a couple of pints of local caske beer, an excellent choice and then down to the menu. A good selection of appetisers, mains and deserts, none that seemed to carry extortionate price tags, meat and veggie choices, so we went for the gammon eggs and chips and the sausage and mash. When brought to our table it was a real wow. I find it really difficult these days to enthuse about regular pub grub at the new pricing levels. This food was not regular pub grub, it was exceptional, better than many homemade examples, quality ingredients, the sausages were of the quality and standard of our own free range butcher, the gravy superb. More superbs for the gammon and eggs, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I cannot remember the last time we had a meal of this quality in a pub and at this price point. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and I would be a very regular if I didn't live so far away. Excellent and a real treat.

This is a very nice local pub. Dog friendly. Quiet during the day, but given how many phone bookings were being taken, I suspect it gets busy in the evening. Excellent food for a pub. Properly homemade, not microwaved rubbish. The whitebait was particularly good. Definitely a pub to visit if you're in Canterbury, and especially if travelling with a dog.

Had a lovely lunch here today. Wandered in on a whim as we made our way back to the main strip - after venturing further up the town to try to get a distance shot of the cathedral - and so glad we did. The bangers and mash were delicious and the steamed muscles in white wine and garlic were brilliantly cooked and accompanied by some fresh and warm sour dough bread. Prices meant that the meals were excellent value, and very generous servings to boot.

Excellent service on our anniversary

Ordered chicken kebabs. Chicken was pale and undercooked. Chef assured me it was cooked but I couldn’t risk it. My husband did eat the majority but even he had to stop when he came to the raw part . Customer Service was non existent, no apology, Refunded £7.50 , what an insult! She eventually gave another £7.50 under protest. Still no apology! Avoid his place!!

Had an evening meal here on a recent trip to Canterbury,nice food,varied menu and lovely staff,and a good atmosphere,just one criticism the burgers that we ordered could have been hotter and we would have it if they had been replaced with ones that were hotter.but all in all a lovely pub and they accept cash and card.

A proper cosy pub,with a great atmosphere, nice selection of Beers which you are able to taste before deciding in special little tankards which is nice touch,the food was brilliant & it was great to be able to actually speak to the chef & compliment him on his culinary skills will definitely be returning before summer is over

We found This Gem on the 2nd night stay of our 2 night visit to Canterbury. Wish we had discovered it the 1st night. Gorgeous little pub, very friendly staff and the food was fabulous. We will definitely be back on our next stay.

A lot of pubs in Canterbury are aimed at tourists and students, but this is a proper local with great food, real ales and the usual drinks. We met as a large family group (10+) and were given 2 tables with plenty of room for everyone. Extremely hospitable hosts, a great time was had by all.

Came with a friend for the first time and no regrets, very friendly crowd and attentive staff, will be returning!

Came here for lunch as a group of friends for. Christmas trip. Located off the main streets and well worth a visit. The food was delicious, service brilliant and amazing value for money. We had the two course Sunday lunch and it was enjoyed by all! Highly recommend.

A great pub. We needed a pub we could take our dog , this was perfect. Lots of different gins which I know is a thing just now and the food was great especially with 10% off if you are staying at the local campsite. Jacob the bartender will be your best friend before you leave. Lovely guy .

Brilliant place to stop and have a pub lunch. Very welcoming and happy to accommodate dogs. Jake on the bar is very friendly and nothing too much!

Guy behind the bar was top of his game. Fast service, great fresh beers, food was spot on, perfect. I’ll be back in tomorrow for more of the same.

A very quaint little pub very handily located if you are staying in the nearby Travelodge, but well worth seeking out if you are just exploring the many pubs Canterbury has to offer. The management definitely like their twinkly lights on strings as the place is filled with them (prob a bit too many for my liking) but it does add. A certain charm in the dark evenings. Definitely one I would go back to!

Really great pub tucked away in ivy Lane. We went both days we were there. The food was really nice (far better than we got in the centre and better value). Nice atmosphere and really helpful staff. Chips were an unusual shape.

After seeing the menu advertised in the window on Sunday 22nd Oct decided to give it a try and glad we did . We had the 3 course option and can honestly say it was the best meal we have had in a long time. All 3 courses were exceptional and good value for money.We visit 3-4 times a year for Uni visits and we will gladly return.

What an amazing find, just off the high street. A few of us had a couple of drinks on the Friday afternoon and was made to feel welcome, so much so we booked a table for dinner on the Saturday evening for 25 of us for a family members 70th birthday. We could not have been more fortunate to have received all meals at the same time and the only comment we can make is absolutely delicious, everyone of us enjoyed our meals. Such a lovely family run pub well worth a visit and we will certainly be returning. Thank you so very much.

Lovely family run pub my family and I really had a great time and staff were attentive and friendly and they went above and beyond to fit in a family of 25 at short notice.

Had an evening meal here during a recent holiday in Canterbury. This was a charming pub offering good quality home cooked food accompanied by a wide selection of drinks. The staff were very welcoming and service was efficient. Two of us opted for the Pie of the Day which was Chicken, ham, and leek. My wife had the Roasted Mediterranean Veg Tart. All were accompanied by crushed new potatoes and veg plus a sauce or gravy. We each ended the meal with Sticky Toffee Pudding and Ice Cream. The quality was excellent and portions were quite hearty. We also enjoyed a few lovely glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. The total bill was £80 excluding service which is good value in the present circumstances. Definitely recommended.

What can I say. Had Sunday lunch and was the best we’d had in ages. So much meat all freshly cooked and plenty of veg too. We have been in for the 4 days we have been in Canterbury and made to feel at home by the staff and locals alike. Good beer, good food , friendly staff and good atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

We received a warm welcome to the pub. There was a wide variety of dishes on the menu and we didn’t have to wait long for our meals. Our chicken skewers, chips and salad were very tasty and filling. Thank you!

Came for dinner with my wife and had a lovely time. The pub was really nicely done out with all the different gins and the food was excellent value for money. Stayed for a couple of hours, would have stayed longer if we could. We will be back. Keep up the good work.

What can i say no service at this establishment Barmaid vaping behind bar. Establishment has gone seriously down

We phoned to book a table after a show at the Marlow theatre. We were told by a male who'd answered the phone that if we weren't there by 8.15pm, they couldn't serve us food. Apparently, they close the kitchen at 8.30 pm on a Saturday. We actually managed to get there at 7.30pm. Two young girls running the show. Told us to grab any table. We waited for one of the two girls, who were vaping behind the bar and on their phones to come to our table. After 10 min, we gave up and left. On the way out, we told them how dissatisfied we were. We were told we had to come to the bar to order. It would have been nice to have been told. The chef was more interested in being behind the bar talking to the young girls. We ended up going elsewhere to spend our money. Won't be back.

This establishment has really deteriorated since i was last here in January 23. Arrived in good time for our reservation to be told to pick a table. Bar staff no communication re service both on mobile phones and vaping behind the bar. I waited 10 min and decided to leave I won't be back The staff needs customer service training

The Two Sawyers is our favourite pub in Canterbury. The atmosphere is second to none, the food is tremendous and the drinks are to die for! We have been so many times and each time we go, our expectations are surpassed. I would encourage everyone, be they local or tourist to visit this wonderful venue. We will be back soon!

Great food and atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. My only issue was , despite sitting near the front of the pub, I could still strongly smell the smoke coming in from the garden. It was lovely to see how dog friendly the place is.

On entry we spotted the gin offer £6.50 for a double including fevertree tonic. We made it clear to the barman that offer was what we were interested in. The barman told us there were over 50 gins but at no point did the barman advise us that the gins we were ordering were not in the offer. It was only when we queried our bill we were advised that it was beefeater gin that was the offer. The bottle next to the advertisement on the bar was not beefeater - when questioned the barman said the bottle was for decoration only. This is so misleading. The barman’s attitude changed, he turned from being all nice & all over us to being curt. We feel we’ve been totally mislead & ripped off !!!!

What a fantastic pub. All round pleasant experience, food was excellent with really good sized portions too, service good and not rushed at all. Absolutely happy to recommend this wonderful pub for a grand meal out.

It was well good, mussels were proper rate - I would definitely recommend the mussels they came in a white wine sauce that was delicious with a side of chips and fresh bread and service was top class.

Really enjoyed our meal last night. We all chose something different and every meal was Fab!! The menu has a very good choice, suiting all tastes!! Waitresses friendly, atmosphere really good.

We had a chicken and bacon baguette and nachos, both absolutely amazing. Couldn’t fault it one bit, really good sizes and reasonably price for what you get. Male bartender was outstanding especially for a bank holiday Monday. Would 100% recommend to literally everyone I know.
