The best restaurants serving British food in England

Very nice pub with friendly staff.

We stayed for three very pleasant nights and dined twice. An attentive manager supported by his young but professional resturant staff enhanced an excellent experience. Obviously with its good resturant grading we expected good food. We got it - A very good chef resides here. We tried fish & chips the first night - absolutely lovely. The second dinner we went for nibbles to start followed by Cod chowder dishes with new potatoes, amazing special fries & fresh peas with asparo. Very good portions were served and all were perfectly cooked. The french wine we chose was equally good. Next time we visit the area we will stay & dine here.

Lovely location, there is also a garden centre and gift shop. The food and service is always brilliant. The food is excellent quality and good sized portions at a reasonable price. Their steak pie is awesome. Well worth the travel

Come down for my birthday , they absolutely smashed it. Star looked after us & made sure our meal went fantastic. Can't wait 2 go back.

AVOID this was absolutely the worst experience we have had..... ever !! Food - totally in edible! not that there was much in the counter and no gravy!! No utensils to get food, he used his hands to throw the cold yorkshire puddings in a tray Service - what service !? No explanation offered Restaurant - Tables were sticky Cook/ Owner ?? (definitely not a chef!) the rudest, offensive man, no manners and very angry about something!! Have you even worked in hospitality before??? We demanded our money back and left! We will never ever step foot in the place again, perhaps this is why the place had very few customers!?

Lovely meal, good wine list and friendly service. Only small grouse, it was noisy which slightly spoiled the atmosphere.

What a find! Sadly we only wanted coffee and cake, the whole menu looked absolutely delicious! Perfect cappuccino, which is a rare find! We had 4 different cakes, each one was superb. Would definitely return, yum! I did try uploading photos, but it wouldn't work. Then I totally forgot that I was mid review, sorry. So this was a genuine visit in November, when we were on holiday. Lovely friendly staff, and the whole menu looked delicious. Slightly tucked away, so I hope lots of people seek you out! We had the 5 course tasting menu. It certainly was a lot more than that when 3 delicious “snacks”, several beautifully warm homemade bread rolls and a selection of divine petit fours were taken into account! Exquisite food. Excellent service in such a lovely old building. Recommend this fabulous restaurant unreservedly!

The service was fast and friendly, our server maddie made us feel very comfortable. The food was tasty and a very good price and the place itself was beautiful. 10/10 would come back again

We have visited the regal many times over the years and always been totally happy with everything ! This time was now different, the restaurant has undergone a substantial redecoration and although you now find your own table the ladies still bring your food to you, the same group of waitresses continue to be friendly And helpful, the food as usual beautiful cooked, piping hot and fresh !

Really great food when we popped in for dinner when we were in the area recently. Will definitely be coming back
