Popped in for lunch with my parents after a great walk. Great food and lovely welcoming staff. We had a toastie which was served with a generous salad and chips…just what we needed! Ended up staying for another cuppa and huge chunk of cake! Delicious 🤩

We had a delicious evening meal for a party of 6. Wonderful varied menu and loads of choices. We had veggie and food allergies in our group and this was all handled very smoothly. Super kind and friendly front of house and meticulous presentation and flavours from the kitchen. The atmosphere is super cosy, with lots of small hidden seating area, multiple bars surrounded by antique furniture and the delightful beams of this ancient 1300s pub.

The food was excellent and management were lovely! We booked months ago for a special occasion, when we arrived we were promptly shown to our table, then it went down hill, no one came to take our order so I took it to the bar, at no point were we told that there would be a big delay due to staff shortages, so a meal booked for 1 arrived at 2ish, when asked if we wanted any sauces we didn't didn't think it was an issue to ask for some however the waitress seemed to take offence at this so went to the bar to talk about us and even rolled her eyes, which was witnessed by one of our party. We felt very uncomfortable. So where we would normally tip the the staff, we didn't bother and the management did apologise. It's such a shame that one bad member of staff can affect a lovely couples business by being rude.

Dined in the Apple Restaurant for 2 nights the food was excellent with a varied menu beautifully presented with a collection of fine wines to accompany the meal their was some nice vegetarian options on the menu which looked very tempting and may try on our next visit We also had on the day of arrival afternoon tea which again was excellent a selection of sandwiches , pastries and desserts and highly recommend trying as an alternative to the restaurant if not dining in the evening.

Review: The Plough Inn, Kelmscott Nestled in the picturesque village of Kelmscott, The Plough Inn is a gem of a pub that seamlessly combines rustic charm with a fresh, renovated look. From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the place wrapped around us, enhanced by the cozy ambiance of a crackling fire—our dog especially appreciated the spot right by it! The food was delightful, with a standout dish being the pumpkin and mushroom risotto. It was rich, creamy, and well-balanced, truly hitting the spot for a comforting lunch. Each bite was a testament to the kitchen’s attention to fresh, quality ingredients and well-executed flavors. But beyond the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere, what truly made our experience special was the service. Vincent was a fantastic host, going above and beyond to ensure we felt at home. His friendly and attentive approach added a personal touch to our meal, making it memorable and inviting. If you’re looking for a welcoming countryside pub with exceptional food and service, The Plough Inn should be at the top of your list.

We celebrated our 50th Wedding anniversary at the dew Pond recently with our 4 grandchildren aged 6 to 11 and their parents and what a great time we had. We booked the private room as it had a little sitting room where the children could spend time between courses and not disturb other diners. This worked a treat as the restaurant was very busy with another party of 10 in the restaurant and most if not all the other tables occupied. The menu offer 6 choices for each course and we did not have to choose in advance which was a bonus. Keith the owner and chef took the trouble though to check with me in advance that the children would be able to eat off the menu as the youngest can be a bit picky. On arrival we were welcomed by Keith's wife and her team and went out to the terrace for pre dinner drinks and just as we were finishing those and our cheese straws, told our table was ready. Between the 10 of us I think we had worked our way through the whole menu by the time we had finished pud. Each dish was eagerly awaited, arrived beautifully presented and tasted delicious, a treat for both eyes and tummies. Service was impeccable with just the right amount of time between courses. The whole team at the Dew Pond made it an evening to remember so thank you Keith and team. You are worthy of a Michelin star but we are quite pleased you do not have one so we can book a table when we want to visit again without booking 3 months ahead to go on what turned out to be a waiting list, only to be disappointed a week beforehand. That was our family's booking at Le Manoir Quatre Saisons some years ago but the tactless way Raymond Blanc treated me on the telephone still rankles all these years later. Keep doing Keith what you do so well and we will keep coming back.

We were having a special family gathering with a few requests as we wanted to bring our dog and my elderly Mum was in a wheelchair. From the minute I called to book the table, the team at 1867 were exceptional. They could not have been more accommodating. We had a fantastic lunch there and I have to pass on my thanks to Sarah who came over to give my Mum a birthday ballon and a bottle of Prosecco which we were not expecting. The team put the customer first from the start to finish, and it’s been a long time since I have seen such a genuine and dedicated hospitality team in a restaurant. It’s an exceptional place to eat and meet with friends and family and I can’t wait to come back and eat here. Congratulations team 1867 - you deserve a 5/5 for all your excellent work.

Went here for Sunday Lunch with a party of 13 (mixed ages from 4 up to 80) Service was very good, waitress were very attentive and very professional, i liked the fact that they came around the table to serve you food and did not pass it over the table. Food was very good, the majority of us had the Sunday lunch, the food was hot, well presented and plentiful. Lots of fresh veg, we ordered extra roasties and yorkshires. Yorkshires were really lovely and light. The only thing i was disappointed with was the apple crumble, lots of apple but very little crumble. We all commented that we would visit again.

Generosas porciones. Incluso elección de salsa. Con o sin cebolla. ¡Hicimos un cerdo de nosotros mismos! Me temo que lo hicimos y nos encantó todo. Si volvemos a bajar por ese cuello del bosque seguro que volveremos a llamar.
