Orange tree Pub in East Hertfordshire

Really lovely food and service, we had a wonderful lunch, lovely homely decor and welcoming. Highly recommended the place!

The staff were welcoming and the space is comfortable, definitely enough space to not feel crammed in. The food though wasn’t as good as we’d been led to understand, it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t good. The sheer volume was a bit overwhelming and there was a mix of food that was lacking in flavour and food that was a bit overpowering. Price was pretty reasonable for 3 courses with drinks though. We’d probably go back but would steer clear of anything deep fried / coated.

We were very disappointed. We were put in a corner on quite shabby backed seats. Menu did look amazing and we went full out. Hubby had the meatballs and said they were OK. I had the lobster bisque and had to sent it back as it wasn't hot. Then Hubby had the fish pie which was more potato than fish and nuclear like it had been heated in the microwave. I had the fillet steak which was OK but not as soft as I would have liked for what we paid. Dessert for me, was a creme brûlée which was nice and hubby had the cheese board which wasn't anything special. For the price they charged we felt was not worth it unfortunately and we waited a long time to go.

Excellent service and quality fresh cooked food, the rib eye stead was fabulous with no steak knife needed. Our new favourite place and we travelled 40 minutes to get there , well worth it and soon to return. Deserts all sounded lovely but the apple pie and donuts went down very well.

Excellent food at this restaurant, as it always is. Very good and varied menu, also a specials board. Attentive staff, nothing is too much trouble. We are regular visitors, wouldn’t have it any other way. Have to say this was a lunchtime visit. There was also a wedding party going on in another room, they all looked as if they were enjoying themselves.

We hosted our wedding reception lunch at the Orange Tree on 22/08/24 and can’t thank the staff enough for an unforgettable day. We held our event in their private dining area, which is just next to the main restaurant. It was beautifully set out for our party of 21, and we were encouraged by the wonderful Giedra and her team to make it personal by adding our own decorations and playing our own selection of music. We loved that we weren’t limited by a set menu, but our guests could choose anything they wanted from the main menu or specials, and the team were also happy to accommodate all our special dietary requirements and requests. On the day the attention to detail and the extra touches, like welcoming us with a glass of champagne with a strawberry on arrival, was amazing. There was not a single thing that had to be prompted or reminded, the organisation in the delivery of the meal was faultless and the food itself was exceptional. The portions were incredibly generous. The wines we selected were lovely and the choice available was good. We were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble and that Giedra and all at the Orange tree were keen to ensure that our day was as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. It was a truly memorable day and I would not hesitate to recommend the Orange tree to anyone contemplating going there.

We came here as a family member had mentioned they had a great time here. Unfortunately ours was not matched. It took 15 minutes to order a drink and 35 minutes to be able to order our food. We had an unpleasant amount of flies surrounding our table too. Food was average, very oily. I don’t think we will rush back. (Flies on mirror in photo)

Another wonderful meal at the Orange Tree today, staff lovely, helpful and the food was exceptional, fresh, tasty, absolutely delicious, especially the sole Veronique and calves liver. Would recommend in a heartbeat and will be going again, for sure.
