Millstream in East Hertfordshire

I’m sitting at the bar having a pint. I’ve also eaten here a few times and I think this place is brilliant. The staff a really friendly and the atmosphere is top notch.

Fantastic pub. Recommend everyone to visit. Staff are simply brilliant. They are friendly, welcoming, and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a superb time.

Hugely enjoyed our vegan roast, loads of veg, amazing dessert options too. Will be back!

Great atmosphere, good food, friendly staff, would need to book a table at busy times to avoid disappointment.

Went for lunch as we sometimes do. Food great as always. Service today however was lacking. Waited 15 mins after ordering drinks to order in which case my other half got up and asked if we could order. Food great. After we had finished. Plates cleared not asked if we wanted deserts etc. Had to get waitress again to order another round. Just not up to normal standard.

I can only speak as I find. I thought that the staff were smashing, happy and smiling. I very good atmosphere. The food was very good, and the Guinness was lovely. I will return.

Brilliantly done traditional pub lunch experience! Wide choice of ales, wines by the glass, snacks and main courses! Eat in or eat out. We sat in the garden and thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips (x2) and Sunday roast lamb. Ideal location easily accessible on foot, midway between town centre and Hertford North station. Great staff. Fast professional service!

Roast came out as Luke warm and portions were slim which I had to go to the chippy afterwards. As an example the latte was just a cupsize no sizing just one size but you paid for it. I wouldn’t say they were the happiest of staff but overall it wasn’t comfortable and satisfying experience.

Proper napkins. Freshly cooked food. Not pre prepared. Go here to get fed and watered. Like anywhere, I suspect they struggle to get enough staff, but the staff they have do a good job and care about the customers. " shouldn't we try somewhere different? " WHY ? it won't be as good - lets go back.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch for three different birthdays in one go. Food was great and portion sizes decent - my daughter rated the sticky toffee pudding as the best ever - and that is no mean feat! 😋

Best Sunday dinner in Hertford ! Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Always good, everything on the menu fabulous. Hot -which makes a difference when getting a roast. Not over priced. What more can you ask for, also all the staff are outstanding, happy to help and go the extra mile (water for the dog and a bowl Of sausages)

The food was nice pub was full the service was very slow out main course arrived 1 hour and fifteen minutes after our starter which is not good and that's after asking twice were our mains was it's a nice place just won't go there again on a Sunday afternoon

had a lovely meal, gluten free choices and staff knowledge was amazing, food tasted wonderful - most amazing gluten free fish and chips, and hubby enjoyed his steak pie and chips too. Staff confirmed a separate fryer and food was gluten free. Great atmosphere, lovely pub garden and really enjoyed our visit. Only downside was the auto tip that was added to our bill. I would have happily left a tip, maybe even abit more than was auto taken, but really didn't like the way it was auto taken, and I only realised afterwards when looking at receipt. It did leave the only sad point to our otherwise really happy and enjoyable visit.

We both had sandwiches. The bread was thick and super-soft (both white and brown). Plenty of filling and a good side of salad and crisps. Fantastic!

Great lunch in a pub I didn't know existed even though I lived in the area for years. What a find. The lunch menu was small but good. Although not on the menu our friends recommended the mussels which they fortunately had. amazingly good. Parking appeared difficult as the pub is in a tiny road.

Cracking . Best in Hertford . The food is cooked - not pre prepared or bought in . This a McMullens pub - but its run by people who care . Anywhere we eat a Sunday roast out the verdict is " Its good - but its not the Millstream " . Park in Beane road and walk 30 seconds round the corner .

Without doubt the best Sunday roast. During the week the menu is also good pub food but it’s on a Sunday they excel. Hard to beat even in London.

Really nice country pub, visited for lunch with my new colleagues who are regulars. Had the sausage and mash, which was really tasty and freshly cooked. The staff are friendly, the vibe is traditional, and they appear to be dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food but they add the tip to the bill without your consent (for the record i was going to tip with cash)... Will not be going back there was nothing special about the service

First visit (odd as I live within a few miles) on a busy Friday night. The food was excellent. I had the padron peppers and Monkfish curry. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Will certainly be back.

I really enjoyed sitting outside in the autumn having a pint. Good parking and seating space outside - a bonus is that it faces south and you get the sun all day in summer. I might be swimming upstream here but I found the previous roasts better. The platter for 2 (or 4) just gave the edge in presentation and the essence of a Sunday roast feeling…. especially if you are sitting with family and you are all sharing. For the single roast, the gravy wasn’t rich enough and the meal itself wasn’t as hot as I’d liked. None the less, a decent place for lunch and a beer - I would return but feel 3 stars is fair.

We held our 25th wedding anniversary at the Millstream last night. Attending were 24 various aged people and each and every one had a lovely time. We had arranged a set menu (was given a choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts) and had notified Bridie beforehand. The food was served hot and delicious, the service excellent, the atmosphere was lovely. Thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Great place for when we can't be bothered to cook! Standard pub fayre, well cooked and presented, served by friendly and attentive staff and at a reasonable price - can't really ask for more!

I visited here the other day for lunch with my parents. We had a warm welcome from the staff and got seated in the conservatory (highly recommended). The food was delicious and fresh. We didn't have to wait for long for it to come out. The price was fair and I would definitely come back😀

Food was good quality very limited selection for those who choose a plant based diet. We dined in one of the 'sheds' comfortable and private. Food and drink service was efficient and polite. Don't think our food server smiled once. Everywhere very clean, including toilets. Overall a good experience.

I found a hair in my food and then highlighted this to the staff very aggressive on the defence food was very very bland stay away also racist against coloured raced avoid

chicken under cooked and had bloody and kids meal was shocking Showed the lady cleaning table and she disregarded it and walked off. My partners food roast beef was cooked perfectly

Amazing roast- I had the pork. There was so much meat. We had extra helpings of vegetables as find most places don’t give you much.

Wonderful pub garden. An oasis you wouldn't expect from the front of the building. Also, a great selection of crisps.

It was my first time here . The Sunday roast lamb leg was great. The mussels was amassing and the apple crumble dessert was delicious.

Came here at the start of the year and had an outstanding steak & ale pie, and have been longing to come back since. This time we sat outside in their nice beer garden out back. We had the chicken burger, fish and chips, and shared the bread & butter pudding. Both mains were amazing. Huge piece of fish with light crispy batter. I’m not a big chip person, but love the chips here too. The bread & butter pudding was one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend.

Fabulous food and lovely location. I found this pub on trip advisor and it had really good reviews. It did not disappoint. The food was excellent and they have a lovely garden to sit in. They also have private cabanas in the garden to eat in. They are popular in winter as they are heated and have Bluetooth in them. We will definitely be returning.

Popped in after a bike ride from London along the Lea Valley. Friendly staff, great Sunday lunch and dessert (white and milk chocolate bread and butter pudding was tip top), and beer kept well. We sat out in the beer garden area, well kept, tidy, and staff diligent at clearing and checking all ok. Proper neighbourhood pub which was very welcoming. Would definitely recommend!

Hands down the tastiest burger I have ever had (chicken cajun burger)! We will 100% be returning, the food was amazing! My son had the kids beef burger (photo) which was equally tasty! Can't wait to go back, and hopefully will be warm enough to sit outside as the garden looked lovely!

Booked sunday roast and wssnt dissappointed .it was the best we chose the 4 mixed meat roast .pork beef lamb chicken.swede carrot mash. cabbage.broccli.yorkshire pudding.roast potatos.we asked for gravy on side.and side dish was caulifower chese .and that was the best i have ever eaten out The whole meal was so good.service was good .if you eat in conservatory it can get very hot. Cant wait to have another roast in the mill stream.

Food and service were excellent. One party member had the mussels starter and said it was the best he had ever had. Staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t save enough room for a dessert.

I am not a local, my Wife took me here after visiting relatives. It looks like a back street locals pub, thought it might be ok, but it was exceptional, super service from the waitress, a really good menu, and both our meals were superb. Whoever runs this place and cooks really knows their stuff. Wonderful and highly recommended.
