Been coming here for years Food is great, service is always amazing. They definitely serve the best pint of Guinness in Cheadle , if not in Stockport 👌

Lovely little place great place to catch up with family and friends

Visited this pub today for a Sunday roast dinner. It’s was absolutely amazing, the staff are all so very lovely and cant do enough for you. They were very accommodating for my brother who wheelchair bound. We’ll definitely be visiting again!

The beef was a plate of gravy, a knuckle of beef with one spud cut into thirds and roasted. Didn't realise it didn't come with any veg (for twenty pounds) so had to have some of the kids chips, however the vast amount of gravy already on the plate ruined it for me. Dunno why they can't just do steak n chips with the normal trimmings instead of this. BTW everyone else loved theirs, the staff were friendly and very efficient. 25 Quid for chips n gravy with a tiny bit of beef is a bit too much for me but maybe I'm a bit grumpy sometimes. However the other beef dishes (steaks) I have had here have been spot on, just not tonight, sorry, you couldn't see the massive plate for gravy. Happy Christmas 🌲🎅

Food is always brilliant, the best pub I’ve been to regards gluten free options. Roasts are fantastic and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Visited here for sunday lunch with my friend, been bereft for small plates and drinks before but this was my first Sunday roast at the Red lion, we were sat in the new conservatory which was nice and spacious, the food was amazing, they do beef, lamb, pork, chicken and nut roast with roasted veg, sprouts, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese in a ramekin, Yorkshire pudding and gravy 😋 The portions are massive and you get loads of meat! Service was fabulous and didn't wait long for our lunch. The beef has a choice of pink or well done too. Very popular, booking advised to avoid disappointment as they're busy on a Sunday, understandably. So good

Visiting Family in Cheadle, and Hale popped by the Red Lion, waited 25mins at the Bar, which was one Deep, 5 people waiting for drinks.....still didnt get acknowledged??? One Bartender making drinks, noticed she was making Cocktails and licking the straws with Alcohol....Not once did she scan the Bar, The Manager was running around completely clueless putting Xmas Crackers around the Pub.....I asked the Manager what was going on ? She apologised and dismissed me in an ABRUPT MANNER.....I won't be back....if that's your Business Model.....Shut it down.....absolutely terrible experience.........I own 4 Bars in Dublin, Ireland. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Visited on Sunday around 4 pm we did book in advance We had the Sunday roast (beef) cooked pink just as I like it. I ordered a side of mashed potato and there was plenty for 2 people. Cauliflower cheese came with the meal. The whole meal was outstanding with great service I highly recommend. We had a bottle of wine which was very nice. Very friendly staff but book in advance we will be back well done every one

We've been to the Red Lion Cheadle about half a dozen times this year and I always mean to do a review as the food is always incredible. We've been on Saturdays a few times and also midweek but today was the first time we went for Sunday dinner and it was mind-blowingly good!! The Knutsford lamb was so tender it literally fell apart. Veg was perfect and you get cauliflower cheese too with lovely rich gravy. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and I highly recommend a visit. They have great vegetarian selection too. Everything we have eaten there is such high quality and cooked to perfection. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!

I was in the area visiting family. The red lion came highly recommended and didn't fail us. The food was lovely, and there was plenty of choice. From meeting us at the door, the staff were first class and attended our every need, and making a fuss over my 5 year old granddaughter. It got a little noisy at times, but you should expect this when it's such a busy pub. I'd never been before, but will certainly come again

Amazing as always, We go in and my wife has a gluten and onion intolerance. they are more than happy to help, and make alterations so she can eat. Many options for main and dessert for her, and everything is done fresh. She loves the fish and chips

Visiting cheedle, definitely visit the "Red Lion" Atmospheric relaxed daytime experience, fabulous deco, outside being renovated, don't be put off because the food is absolutely delicious. The Burger, - Best I have tasted to date,!! Service 5 star, parking available including designated disabled parking Looking for lunch, dinner or celebration , get together with friends, family this is the place, worth a visit !!

Turned up at the red lion this afternoon (soaked) with no reservation, the place was bustling and at full capacity. We are a family of three with a pram. The hostess kindly found us her last table outside. It was raining and we were offered blankets, nice touch. Our waitress was super welcoming and attentive. The Sunday roast was divine. Absolutely delicious, great quality produce and a lovely family vibe. We’ve just moved to Cheadle, think this may become our new local

Oh my word - why is this place charging such prices in our village? Went out Friday evening for a walk round the village calling into a few pubs en route. The three we went into in the village centre all charged round the same price for the two drinks. Then we went into the red lion and were amazed to be charged an additional £3 for the same two drinks (£11.50 compared to around £8.50 elsewhere - this is 35% higher than the competition). All four pubs were of equally pleasant decor, the service was equally good, the drinks equally pleasant and refreshing. BUT the red lion, with its much higher prices, was, perhaps unsurprisingly, very quiet compared to its near competitors. As for ourselves, why would we ever bother to go back to the red lion when they offer nothing incremental other than higher prices. NONE IF US LIKES TO FEEL AS THOUGH WEVE BEEN RIPPED OFF.

Not been in this pub for a long time, so thought we would give it a go. Absolutely gobsmacked at the price…. 2 pints and a packet of Crisps and a packet of peanuts £15.90. Far cheaper in the village pubs….i would skip this one. What a shame

Called in for a beer with a friend who hadn't seen for a while, £6.90 for a lager 😲 only had the one, obviously. Same product up the road in another bar £4.50. In no rush to call back

Great food, not sure if it's a pub or restaurant. Looks like a pub from the outside. £18.50 for a burger would imply otherwise, but it was very good. I would have happily ordered more drinks given the chance.

Booked last minute on Mother’s Day for lunch with a friend. Fantastic friendly service, cosy convivial atmosphere and delicious food. Absolutely recommend and will be back!

Absolutely fantastic roast dinners and even better service. We're so glad to have the Red Lion nearby. Best to book a table as they're always busy, but staff will always do their best to squeeze you in when they can. Best service for miles around and very family friendly. 👏👏👏

Visited in a group of 7, 5 adults and two kids. Really kid friendly and very accommodating. Food excellent, drinks well looked after, top visit all round. Lady running the show clearly setting the standard, well done!

The food here was great - high quality pub options done really well. There were a few decent vegetarian and vegan options and universally popular offerings on the kids menu. There were some good ales on tap and staff were very friendly and attentive. We hadn't even noticed this place before but will definitely be back!

This will be our new favourite stop on our way to Manchester Airport! Food was really really good - beef featherblade was divine! Kids menu too was really good and actually hope cooked food not just freezer stuff you get in other places. Good selection of drinks and service quick and attentive. Was looking forward to meeting a friend here for lunch who had travelled from Wigan. Looked forward to the Thursday discount advertised and gluten free options for myself as a coeliac. How disappointing to be told the kitchen was shut 😳 we went to the Ashlea had a lovely gluten free meal there. It was busy and had lovely atmosphere. Wish the Red Lion had mentioned the kitchen was shut in their website ☹️

Food is lovely, drinks are over priced. Robinsons need to help pubs like this prosper. The pub offers many discounted times like happy hour, wine not Wednesday, reduced food cost days etc. While this is an attempt to draw persons in, I feel it would be better to have a flat rate across the board so everyone knows what they are getting in for. A pint of Coors is £4 during happy hour or £4.20 during wine not Wednesday but £5.60 at all other times.

Delicious food and really friendly service. We ate from the Christmas menu which had great options for vegetarians. The Mushroom, Leek and Tarragon pie was amazing. Kelly was efficient and super friendly, she even arranged for 'decaff' Eggnog Espresso Martinis. A lovely Christmas 🎄 night.

Great service and great food. We’ve used The Red Lion for a number of years and the food is always consistent in its quality. The service has always been good too but over the recent months it has been elevated to another level.

Great Sunday dinner with gluten free Yorkshire pudding.

Not been in here for years as don’t live in the area. Met a friend for tea and wow what a lovely atmosphere and the Christmas decorations are something out of a picture book. The food- the main event was the best, I had a club sandwich a dish that is well deservedly making a comeback on menus and this one did not disappoint, I actually think it’s the best one I’ve had. I will definitely be back for another and a Sunday dinner, what a lovely cosy place bit jealous of you Cheadle folk having this wonderful establishment in your village

Fantastic birthday lunch today for 13 family members. We had 3 with glutten and dairy intolerance and 1 with an onion intolerance and 2 children. Kelly could not have been more helpful in making sure she had the right food to the right people and the food was amazing. Thank you so much.

Recommend the Korean Chicken Burger !

To be honest we just had some chips to soak up post-football beer, but they were excellent, and it’s a fabulous pub.

I’ve been a few times on a Sunday and love the roast dinners. went tonight and had an amazing Korean burger and it was happy hour which at 8pm on a Friday was not expecting, so was a nice surprise. Fabulous service will definitely be back.

I ate here as part of a large party. We received exquisite service and the food was fantastic! I didn’t get her name but the waitress with the australian accent was a standout member of staff. The vegetarian and vegan options available on their three course menu all sounded superb. I had the leek and potato soup which tasted exactly how my mum has always made it, but came with warm cheese scones!! 😍 The bombay inspired cauliflower pie was sensational with a spicey gravy sauce. And to finish off a spectacular sticky toffee sponge which they kindly swapped the custard for ice cream for me 🤩

Hadn't visited the Red Lion for a few years. The food was recommended by a friend so I decided to give it a go. There's plenty of parking in the pub car park and there is easy access for wheelchair users. It was Thursday night, the place was busy but not too noisy. We booked in advance and were seated immediately. The menu was relatively simple but with plenty of choice for all. I had the Caesar salad and my friend had the burger. The portion sizes were good and everything tasted great. I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

My wife and I visited The Red Lion on a Sunday to take advantage of the Sunday roasts. We live in the area and have been told previously how delicious they are and I have to say, the food didn't disappoint! I went for the beef roast and I love that cauliflower cheese comes as standard. My wife went for the vegetarian Wellington which was a really good portion and very tasty. I did find the waiting times for food was quite long, its a busy place and worth the wait but not really a place if you want a quick sitting. Still, I would definitely return as I want to try the "normal" menu as well.

Plenty of outside seating and has a car park. I didn't eat there just had a drink. The staff are very friendly, the beer is well kept and it is nicely decorated.

And they are far far far from it. Big pretenders. Manager is throws her weight around , and knows jack about customer service. Too busy pretending to work. I’ve been going for years , never again , not that they need more customers now considering the price of their menu ! They can stay a float with a hand full. If you like over priced, frozen , oven cooked food , that takes 45 minutes with a side of foul faced management - then this is your joint. Avoid the king prawns if you do go - as they’re barley prawns and charge £9 for a pretentious portion that tastes like Iceland’s gino decampos line - (ginos are actually better).

So this place is just down the road from me and we went on a Sunday and it was packed. We sat outside, and the lady who served us put the outdoor heater on for us. Wasn't too cold, but the heater made it comfortable. Service was 5 star. The Sunday lunch came in good time, and it was delicious. The beef was tender and cooked perfectly. Everything was spot on. Well, worth a visit if you're in the area or passing by, but I'd book ahead as it gets really busy.

Amazing food, amazing staff what more could you want. We will be back again very soon. We were a family of 10 for Mother’s Day, the food was beautiful, the roast was 10/10. The children ate every last bit of their food which was pasta & garlic bread & flatbread pizza. The waitress who was Australian was brilliant. Thanks guys xx

If you are not eating on a Sunday - be prepared to stand up at the bar. All tables set for diners even though only 20% occupied. Rather poor hospitality for those that just want a drink. It seemed to be too much trouble to eventually get a table. Bierra Moretti at £5.80 per pint. I wouldn't mind if it tasted great and I suggest lines are cleaned more often. First pint of the day and it was poor and I know what it should taste like from years of experience. Moretti in James Watts is spot on and £4.80 per pint - no brainer. Red Lion must try harder and accommodate all customers.

Manageress fitted us in at short notice table for 2 on a busy Sunday. Food came on time and was spot on. Music snd overall atmosphere were great. Keep it up red Lion

Very different to last visit some 2yrs ago. I'm pleased to say the food is a dream compared to before . Service is pleasant with no faffing about. Atmosphere nice homely and warm. Mind the step!
