I went to this place for my dinner at work, she asked me do I want food or drink, I said a bit of both, she only turned round and said we don’t do any of that here you should go to the cafe down the road, this woman needs to learn some manners and good customer service skills, what a disgusting way to treat a customer to tell them we don’t make what you want without even knowing what I want.

A very popular cafe with interesting and yummy food (I haven't tried the cake - my waistline wouldn't be able to cope!). I understand about the somewhat unsatisfactory staff behaviour. The first time I went there (shortly after they opened) one of the proprietors was very "sharp" (to the point of rudeness) with me. I let it go as I thought they might be having a bad day. The second time it happened I quietly pointed out that my parents and grandparents had been in business in Marple for nearly 60 years and if they'd spoken to clients, as I had been spoken to, they wouldn't have lasted 60 days. Since then no-one has been rude to me! Glad to see they are open again. I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms and need a local Derbyshire ice-cream "fix".

Lovely cafe but a member of staff was very rude to us. I much prefer independent cafes but it’s not a good experience if staff are rude to customers, why re open if you don’t want customers? Maybe some staff training would be helpful. Hope to have a better welcome if we visit again.

I visited for lunch prior to a meeting. I overheard a member of staff being very rude to two customers who had queried the bill. It's a long story, but we were told the cafe was not for meetings. We had reserved a table by email, but then told she wouldn't have got the email as the other person was on holiday. We were told we were blocking the cafe for other people, but the cafe was nearly empty. One person, out of 6, did not want a drink and we were told every customer was expected to buy something. I don't easily write bad reviews, but I was dumbfounded. I won't be going again.

I have been coming to Cloudberry since soon after it opened and, in general, I'm a big fan. T However, I've witnessed some concerning situations several times now - involving the owner speaking badly to staff. I don't know anyone working there but just wondered if writing this might help make it clear that customers are noticing? This week I witnessed an unpleasant discussion between the owner and the kitchen staff. The owner spoke loudly with no attempt at ensuring customers didn't hear. It seemed, I'm sorry to say, bullyish and left the kitchen staff visibly upset. This felt really unprofessional (on the owner's part) and disruptive. Nobody wants to hear something like that in a cafe and it's never nice to see anyone upset. I wanted to comfort the woman who was most upset but didn't know what to do. Obviously I don't know the inner staff dynamics, but I've witnessed it so many times now that it feels like something is definitely going on. I've seen the owner snapping at staff on several occasions before and the atmosphere feeling very tense. I've also found the customer service to be quite grumpy sometimes. No pleasantries exchanged, all quite tense again. I'm aware that running a cafe can get very busy and stressful at times, but it feels important to raise it. I just hope everyone in the situation can be OK and the business can show a bit more kindness. I would hate for people to stop going there, the food is so nice!

Nice café spoiled by the chippy and unwelcoming member of staff who, when I asked if they had decaffeinated coffees, treated me as though I had asked her if she had washed that morning. My friend who was with me asked if she could make sure his was definitely decaffeinated because of a medical condition and she snapped back: "You don't have to tell me how to do my job". On reflection we should have just left right then. As it is we will have to settle for never going back there. The coffee was all right, but I can do without being belittled by the staff for making simple requests.

Popped in for a coffee and some toast early morning. Sat down and had to wait around five minutes before asking for someone to bring a menu ( I was the only person in the cafe ). I ordered a flat white and two slices of fruit toast and it was nearly £5! The coffee was burnt and the toast was stale and covered in so much butter that it just didn’t taste good. The menu is limited and very expensive. It’s £1 for a rasher of bacon. Crumpets are £2 and 50p extra with jam. The prices are crazy and definitely a deterrent for going back. It’s a shame as it’s the only cafe in this stretch of road and by all appearances it should be a nice cafe but not worth the money. Won’t be going in again.

Visited on Wednesday with my daughter for a hot chocolate & a sweet treat. It was our first visit & my daughter has asked for it to be our little cafe of choice for some Mummy & Daughter time in future. It's not at all obvious whether this is table service or where you order. When we arrived we had to go to the far end of the cafe next to the food prep area, as the cafe was quite busy. There are no food menus on the tables and as we were next to the ladies prepping food we sat and waited. After quite some time we asked one of the ladies could we have a menu. She said they were near the till at the other end of the cafe. She fetched one as she was going up there. On the top of the menu it said to order at the till. We chose our food and drinks and I went to the till. The lady on the till was very pleasant and acknowledged me saying she'd only be a minute. She very pleasantly took our order and I paid. She quite quickly brought our drinks. Our food came some time later brought by one of the lady chefs who somehow made us feel that we were not welcome. She seemed quite churlish. The food was very nice. When the table was cleared I said we'd enjoyed the food but again we felt we were being a nuisance. We won't be going there again

We called on Saturday for lunch after doing some shopping in Marple. After we had placed our order the next people to arrive were told that they could no longer order food due to the cafe being very busy with orders earlier, and not having had any deliveries due to the weather. we waited some time before our order came and were then informed that there would be no charge due to the length of time we had waited. The food was excellent and the staff were very apologetic. I can understand why some people would be annoyed when they had booked a table, but to put negative comments on here when the staff explained the situation does seem a bit over the top. I will definitely be visiting Cloudberry again, it’s a lovely cafe.

We booked a table for 6 for 1pm and due to traffic and the weather we didn't arrive until 1:13. Upon arrival we were told that the cafe had no food and that it was our fault because we had arrived late. There was no apology and the woman was very rude, making out it was our fault. Wouldn't have minded being told the cafe had no food but the woman was incredibly rude and discourteous to us all. Safe to say we won't be going back there again. Strange place, really, as it isn't immediately obvious whether it's waitress service or you order at the counter. It's a poor system, because you seem to have to queue behind people who are paying and ordering. I only wanted a coffee, but it seemed to take ages, as the person behind the counter was having a chat to other customers.

Before visiting the hairdressing salon for a lengthy appointment on Saturday 4 November, my wife called into the Cloudberry café next door, hoping to get an egg/mayo sandwich (medically restricted diet) and have it delivered next door (the salon door is immediately adjacent to the café door and is nearer than some of the outside tables). She got these responses from the staff: (1) they would only poach, fry or scramble eggs; (2) they had no mayo (tuna/mayo was on the menu and they serve salads); (3) they did not have white flat bread (only to toast!); (4) they could not deliver next door as they were too busy. Two members of staff were involved in this tooth-pulling conversation, one of whom may have been the owner or manageress. Presumably, they had not seen my wife arrive on a mobility scooter and park it outside. Cloudberry need to be more sensitive in dealing with their customers as they do not know what is happening in their lives. Because of my wife’s condition, this exhausting episode set her back for the rest of the day. I am pleased to say that she was very well looked after at the hairdressing salon where the wonderful staff brought her what she needed from a nearby patisserie. I am amazed that in this small friendly town with its great community spirit, a business can be so short-sighted when its trade relies so much on its local reputation.

We had our son's 7th birthday at Cloudberry Cafe just before Christmas. I was unreasonably busy in those days and had left it far too late to organise anything myself. Karen was my saviour. She fed and entertained my son and his friends. She had them decorate a plate for Santa to take home with them. The party itself was lovely and calm, just what I needed and the kids enjoyed themselves very much. Karen took care of everything, all we had to do was sit, eat, and sip our drinks in peace. It was simply perfect.

Partly because my children have somewhere to play and we are always made to feel welcome, but also the food is lovely, particularly the bread nor is it over priced and a good selection of lovely cakes, the carrot cake is a must. For somewhere that is still newish to Marple I find they already have loyal customers whom appreciate the café is used regularly by children and everyone is helpful and accommodating from staff to customers. It's rare you get a loud child in there, parents are pretty good at keeping taps on them and there is always someone offering to help with the door and buggy. After reading such good reviews I had high expectations but unfortunately I don't think we could have picked a worse day to visit. The location is good and the decor is lovely very welcoming and child friendly. As a chef was off sick we knew we would have a bit of a wait but after over half an hour we still had received some food but not all. When we asked if the food would be long the staff all began arguing with each other. You could hear the kitchen shouting they had never had the order. We said it didn't matter as we didn't want to wait a further half an hour. We were then given the money back for the food that hadn't arrived. But then the daughter started arguing with her dad about this in front of us and it was very uncomfortable. Considering it was very basic meals they were making they seemed to really struggle and the arguing was very unprofessional especially as we had our child with us as did lots of other families.

This unique cafe is one of Marple's most precious gems. With a friendly service and an inspired menu, it is perfect for spending an afternoon with a close friend or relative. They also have a wide selection of creative merchandise designed by local artists and are enthusiastic to support community engagement.

I went with a couple of friends to the Cloudberry Cafe in early June. It is good to have a cafe at that end of Marple and the arts and crafts are interesting to browse. The environment is very nice.We ordered hot drinks and two of us ordered fruit toast and I think the other ordered toast. There were two people serving and two people preparing food. The cafe wasn't particularly busy. The two lattes and pot of tea came quickly. But the toast didn't arrive - eventually I went to ask where it was because our drinks were nearly finished. There didn't appear to be any reason for the delay as the cafe was quiet, there was plenty of staff and it doesn't take long to toast bread. We were told it wouldn't be long - I explained we had nearly finished our drinks. After a further wait when our drinks were finished the toast arrived. To be honest I felt it would have been a good/appropriate gesture to offer us a free hot drink so we could have a drink with our toast but this didn't happen. The drinks and toast were fine but would have been better together. So to summarise the environment is lovely, the food is fine (we didn't try any of the home cooked food so I cannot comment further) but the service needs to be improved. As the cafe is new hopefully they should in time improve service and be able to coordinate service better

Cloudberry is one of my fav places to go in Marple. It is a true community cafe. Food is comforting and homemade (my favourite is the in house humous) the staff remember you and are friendly and they support local artists! Stocking locally made cards and gifts. They are also very breast feeding friendly, a real rarity in this day and age, sadly. Baby changing facility too. An all round blooming good destination for all :)

The shop has many arts and crafts for sale and a selection of seating from leather sofa s to tables and chairs, nicely decorated and very light and airy. The food is very nice but there is a portion control problem... whilst I was there a man queried this with the cook but she didn't address the problem at all, so I think this issue is here to stay. It has meant we now go to another coffee shop in Marple.

I've been in a few times for coffee and breakfasts. A lovely place with friendly staff and a unique arts & crafts theme. It's great for kids too. As lovely as it is, I'm astonished that it is rated as #1 eatery in Stockport as the menu extends only to snacks and the coffee is average. I can think of several places that are by far superior (such as All Things Nice and Libby's). Hats off to the owners though, they certainly have put everything into making this a successful business.

The food is delicious, home cooked offerings at a reasonable price about £4.95 ish. Selection of hot and cold drinks...nice coffees. There's home baked desserts too. I was really impressed when a schoolboy needed to ring his Mum to pick him up and popped into the shop and asked the Manager if she would let him use her land line ... there was absolutely no problem...its nice to know children are being looked after like this in the community. All are welcome, the knitting club, crafters, mums will prams and trolleys and the elderly. It a truly warm and hospitable.

Found this by chance when in Marple and what a delight. It is just what the area needs an independent coffee shop that is very friendly and cosy and offers great coffee and food for everyone. Great atmosphere and a pleasure.

We had heard good things about the Cloudberry, and we were not at all disappointed! The café is beautifully laid out and not cramped as sometimes can happen! We had a light lunch from the excellent varied café menu. The coffee was also very good. The decoration includes some very distinctive artwork and there are also some interesting small items for sale as well. Will definitely return!

Marple, on the boarders of the Peak District and on the banks of the Macclesfield and Ashton canals on the Cheshire Ring, cannot be said to be short of places for a good light lunch or a cup of coffee. But to this crowded and highly competitive market the Cloudberry Cafe brings a distinctively different take on what makes a good cafe. Its emphasis on creative opportunities: knitting, drawing, and lots of other things, doesn't get in the way of the essentials but it makes the it a good place for children as anyone who is around when the local primary schools come out will testify. The staff are friendly, the seats are comfortable and the atmosphere restful. Visitors who walk the few yards from the centre of Marple will be rewarded for their efforts at Cloudberry.

Popped in for a hot drink and chill out whilst son and dad were swimming in baths across the road. Enjoyed a sweet ginger teapigs pot of tea and after seeing the specials board, left message for them to join me for lunch after swim. so glad i did, the food is really good and decent price too, especially the kids options. My son had cheese on toast for £1.50! i had sauteed mushrooms and halloumi on granary toast and it was so delicious. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Shame i live other side of Stockport!!

The cafe opened not long after I moved to Marple last year and I have visited a number of times with friends who have come to visit. It is a delightful experience with excellent home made food and the opportunity to see lots of work by local artists displayed around the cafe. They also have creative events on and offer craft parties for children if you are looking for something different. It is situated on the main Stockport road so you would need to park in one of the local car parks available further into the village and just walk back a relatively short distance. (Opposite the Post Office) The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic which makes for a real welcoming atmosphere.

My husband found cloudberry on trip advisor and we were sold on the baby friendly element as we have a one year old. We weren't banking on the food being as delicious as it is. The best home made coleslaw I've ever had. Great value too! Many handmade items are for sale, in fact I bought the mirror from the loos. We've been back since and will continue to visit. Can really recommend!

Went to the spread eagle end of October for my dads 80th. The service was slow, food service slow, not everyone got their drinks at the same time. Was my first time here after driving from west yorkshire. The food was ok, nothing special at all, expensive for what it was, £15.50 for lasagna and a bit of salad and and bread. The lasagna pasta was a little tough as i would say not cooked or prepped properly. The set of tables they pulled together were all different heights. Main thing is, my parents enjoyed it. Would we go back, no. Far more better places to go.
