Very tasty food, excellent service and a great vibe. Dogs are allowed in but not in the carpeted restaurant.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. All fresh ingredients. Lamb was awesome and loads of it. Veg cooked to perfection and real gravy. Massive yorkie. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great service guys. Blundell family 👏👏

A lovely Sunday Lunch A choice of Roast Meats, Beautifully cooked, great portion size with a good choice of veg and potatoes. Service was very good and the restaurant had a good relaxed vibe. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We had last visited under previous management and had a lovely experience. Unfortunately this time the staff let the place down in attitude and work ethic. Firstly, I asked for my drink without ice but it was served with ice and the waitress made a snide remark to my husband about his drink choice which took us both by surprise. Throughout our meal the atmosphere was ruined by the bar and waiting staff treating the place like a school playground - gossiping and horsing around. We were shocked to hear one member of staff say ‘f*** off’ loudly; not what we want when paying a premium for a quiet Saturday lunch with our child. She was short and had dark hair and pony tail in a plait (behind the bar). Later on a manager or owner came in and spoke to his staff by the bar. When he left we could hear the staff slagging him off. Overall a poor experience. Could have been so much better with respectful and well-trained staff. We won’t be returning. We recommend the Jolly Sailor in Davenport to see how customer service should be.

We have eaten at the Midway a few times, it is a popular eatery and has always been busy especially on Sunday afternoons, the staff are very friendly and great service. One of our party had a gammon roast which was reported back as good. My wife and I ordered the Cajun chicken kebab which came with a rather boring mint/yogurty sauce, this made our meals rather dry and boring, it could have been so much more interesting served as a sizzler or with some sweet chilli sauce.

Called in on the off chance. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. I had prawns on bruschetta - excellent. The flavour of the sauce had a welcome depth. The king prawns were properly sized and the bruschetta was homemade. Well priced for a filling light bite. The wine was good too.

Amazing food & service! The roast beef was melt in the mouth, totally delicious. The kid's meals were proper food as opposed to the usual rubbish you all to often get on a children's menu. Would absolutely recommend here & I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in Stockport.

We had an 18th birthday party downstairs in late August. We thought we'd left it too late but luckily for us, the midway had one slot which was perfect for us. Absolutely brilliantl venue. Food was superb, all guests thoroughly enjoyed. Brilliantly done young Sam behind the bar looking after everyone with their drinks. Big thank you to the chefs for all the preparations and quality of the food. Big thank you to all staff at the midway for making everything so easy and very enjoyable. Great party that Jessica will never forget.

Food could have been hotter, cheese &onion pie not so marvellous, I feel the pub although nice..not as good as when original owners had this b4 retiring used to be more popular plenty of other pubs to choose from

Just got back from the Midway. Enjoyed our meals, the service was first class. Waitress was very pleasant and accommodating.

The food was ok but nothing special. The rice was overcooked. Our server was polite and quick. The pub was clean but felt like being in a library. The beer garden is a good size and kept to a decent standard. Will return for a pint but not food.

Been wanting to try here for ages so me and my husband gave it a go . Lady on arrival was lovely. We ordered the steak and frites and chicken tikka kebab . The chicken tikka was fine no issues really tasty and well presented , the steak come which can only be described as a mountain of chips and the thin steak lay across the top of them ? We was never asked how we would like our steak cooking (which we only realised ourselves when my husband cut into his steak as it was a bit bloody for him ) it was not pleasant for my husband . He did not want to complain as it tasted ok and by the time the waiter came to ask if everything was ok I was nearly finished anyway ., Ordered a Nutella cheesecake for dessert. Taste was fine and well presented. It was just the consistency that was off it was more like a mouse rather than a cheesecake but again it tasted nice and no complaints. Bill was £75 for 2 mains , 1 dessert 2 glasses of wine and 2 lagers . Was a bit underwhelmed if I’m honest and won’t be returning in a hurry. Just an answer for the owner below , the steak and frites , I was expecting to be asked how we would like the steak cooked (never been anywhere where you are not asked and if you don’t ask maybe this needs to be stated on the menu )and again serving the steak on top of the chips rather then at the side was the issue . Blood soaked soggy fries is not a classic . Thanks

Went there for a Bank Holiday quick snack.

Menu very mediocre from what it used to be. I had buger very nice and juicey. Friend had rump steak very tender but lacked veg or salad on the plate. Very busy, weds lunch. 3 staff did great keeping people happy and served. Starters calamari and prawns lovely, but lacked a dip. I asked for mayo. You must try and make up your own mind.

Food arrived with the wrong order of vegetables. Meal was returned to the kitchen and when brought back we were told to be careful as the vegetables were hot. Some were warm but about a third were still frozen. Not sure we'd eat there again but it's still a great place to enjoy a drink, especially in the beer garden on a warm day.

Took my sister for lunch and it was quite busy. We had booked. We both had a steak and onion baguette which arrived quite quickly. The only delay was paying the bill and we ended up going to the bar on the way out. Nice atmosphere, lovely food and I think it's busy because of the above!

Terrible service..we were served drinks and our meal then were just left to it..never asked if food was ok never asked if we wanted more drinks...finished our meal..waitress couldnt do enough for the 4 ladies on the next table while we were just ignored..plates left on the table..we were waiting to order desert and coffes but gave up...payed bill and left....never again.

Sunday dinner was outstanding right from the starters through to the mains even though it was really busy the staff was making sure everyone was being looked after properly our waiter Sam apologies if I’ve got the name wrong 😂 was amazing and nothing was to much trouble I will be returning very soon

This was my first visit since it had been taken over. First impression on entering was the pub good. We ordered the chicken bites which were greasy and overcooked. The steak burger was nice and the chips delicious but for what we got overall it was overpriced.

After a long day at work, the local pub was calling my name. Strolled round with the dog, shut at 9:20 pm? On a Friday? Change your google opening times or stay open until advertised. In my next visit, Tuesday 23rd July, half 9 pub is open! I walk in with my 5 month old puppy… for the owners dogs (bull types) to charge at him. Leaving him petrified (he’s already nervous and have worked a LOT on that)…. What a way to feel welcomed. Put your dogs on a lead if they’re not trained. Other than that, re home them. Not the way i planned my evening off work going. Edit in response to owner: as previously stated, change your google review times then! You advertise as being open until 10pm, which means trading until 10pm. As someone who works in the industry, I know as well as you do what business opening times mean, they are trading times. When you say “it’s not my fault your dog is scared” do you have this attitude with other things? Such as a customer with an intolerance or a customer need? Is it just a “it’s not my fault” attitude If something went wrong? Because my dog is scared that makes it all okay? It’s my problem? As someone who is a licensee and runs a pub/restaurant myself, I know that whatever happens inside of or on the premises of my business is very much my problem. If something negative happens, it is my problem. If this were to happen to me, it is my problem. Playing the blame game on a customer is not the way to go about it. I’m appalled.

Brilliant service, food and value. Mum and my two sisters went for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. Never disappoints.

The young lady and gentleman who served us were brilliant and attentive but the food was mediocre at best. Only 2 out of the 6 meals were good and the chips were undercooked

This used to be one of our favourite places to eat, but after tonight's meal we won't be going back. We had drinks straight away but then had to wait 20 minutes for them to take our order. Starters were OK, but the main was the worst meal I have had in there. A flattened steak under a sea of chips, which were soggy and horrible. This place is not what it used to be and it is such a shame over £60.00 wasted.....also while we were eating our meal no.one came over to check if everything was OK.

We've been here with friends we picked up from Manchester airport (which is only about 10 mins away). The food is very good, very fresh ingredients (we got the pie and the fish), and the menu is varied with some good Italian dishes too. The atmosphere is cozy, and can fit both a casual meal like ours, but eventually a nice night out. Definitely recommended.

Brought three kids, had a lovely meal. My children loved the penne pasta and ate every bite. My pizza was lovely. The staff are so friendly and attentive.

Lovely food and fast service. Air con was appreciated very much when it was hot. Ample parking to the side of the pub but if full there's also space on the street outside. Will be back again.

Came with the family today for father's day!! Been coming for years, service was slow, had to ask to place our order, food was average at the best. Banana split was shocking! No Banana to be seen, chocolate brownie was dried up, unable to put in a spoon to eat. Just really disappointing, such a shame as used to be a great place to eat out. Would I come back? No!!

Was really disappointed in our visit yesterday. Have always enjoyed it in here but it did not live up to the usual high standards. Visited with 2 kids and there is no children’s menu available if you are eating outside, meant we had to pay adult prices for 2 children. Got a hotdog for my other child which came swimming in mustard; which she doesn’t like, although this wasn’t on the menu that it came with sauce. Didn’t feel like the usual experience eating out of paper wrapped from a van. Ordered fish and chips and mine came way before everyone else's meaning that I was finished and the kids and my partner were still waiting for theirs. Overall was not very happy, the price of the bill for 1 alcoholic drink, 1 coffee, 2 diet cokes, 1 hot dog, pizza, 1 burger and chips and fish and chips for almost £70 just wasn’t worth it in my opinion. My chips with the fish were very dry and most of them still hard inside, nobody came to check throughout the meal if everything was okay so I just left the majority of them

Heard great stories about this place but to be honest we were disappointed, 3 of us visited here a week ago, my daughter ordered a starter £8 something it was and it was tiny, chicken bites but more like chicken bits, my friend ordered a burger was fine but but very average. I had the salmon which was nicely cooked good taste, asparagus was limp bendy and well overcooked, potatoes were greasy and didn’t taste great if I’m honest, I got a pot of melted butter but the potatoes were so greasy it were not needed and I’m not sure why it was on the plate. The staff couldn’t do enough for ya very helpful attentive and a great asset to the place. Very disappointing visit and felt the quality of the food did not reflect in the price, £16.95 for the salmon would have been worth it if all components worked but they didn’t. Not the worst place I’ve been but definitely not good value for money.

We were taken to this lovely restaurant for Sunday lunch today. Four of us had the “Roast ” and we all enjoyed it. Very fresh, lots of meat and all the trimmings. Very generous portions. Very good service and great value for money 😀 Couldn’t manage a pud. Interior very nice, lots of staff very friendly and efficient. Don’t know for certain of course but I think it maybe hard to beat in Stockport Thoroughly recommended and would go again. Great place to take the family on a Sunday 😀

Staff are fine, however, thats it! We've been coming here for over 10 years and unfortunately will not be returning after dropping in earlier in the week (24th May 2024) A small group of 6 of us met up in here after work, and all opted for the 'large' fish and chips. Firstly, there's absolutely nothing 'large' about the large fish and chips, it was more like a child's portion, a small, tasteless, soggy, luke warm battered fish, draped over about 7 hard chips. For which they have the audacity to charge £16 on the menu. You'd definitely expect better, or at least a bigger piece of fish surly! Also..... over £5 for a pint of Guinness 😳 That is utterly scandalous!

Attended a wake here. The buffet was lovely and the staff were very helpful.

Fabulous pub: great food, lovely friendly staff, and reasonably priced. A nice space to sit outside in the (very rare) sunshine too today. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat and share a few drinks around Stockport then you won’t find many better.

I have been here before a couple of times, and it was great. This time average would be a generous description. I believe there are new owners and it's not up to parr at all.

Dined there this afternoon with family. Cheerful staff, relaxed atmosphere and amazing food. We enjoyed chilli, fish and chips, chicken bites and nicoise salad as mains. Love this place as a treat. We will be back, especially for Christmas menu - but that is a little way off yet. Well done Midway!

Staff and service were both absolutely excellent, as was the food. Will certainly make a point of visiting again when I find myself in Stockport next. Thank you very much for such a treat!

Very nice pub in a good location. Great food options at a reasonable price. When we did sit down for food, we found the service for drinks can be a little slow when it is busy, but getting our food was very quick.

This really shouldn't advertise itself as a pub. It's now more like a restaurant with a limited number of tables if you only want a drink. I am sure the food would be very nice but that wasn't what we went in for. We were made to feel uncomfortable by being asked to move from an area of empty tables, only to be escorted to some higher empty tables. We used to come here regularly for drinks and occasionally food too. Don't think we'll be going back.

I have been visiting this establishment for many years and always liked it.I have not visited since Paul/Pauline left but popped in today with a friend for a very overpriced dreadful glass of Chardonnay! At £9 a glass at least provide a reasonable product.Simples.I won’t be returning.

I stopped in to The Midway pub today after passing by and becoming curious. Nice traditional decor inside. I was served by a lovely friendly lady and ordered a ribeye off the menu. The food came quickly and was seasoned and cooked nicely. I thought it was reasonably priced and all the food on the tables around me looked home cooked and tasty. The steak with chips and sauce at £23 was well priced. I would definitely return here again

Cracking food and the staff were lovely!

The only letdown was the vegan nut roast, £15 for it compared to the sizes of the other huge meat roasts felt unfair. EDIT: Since everything nice I said has been ignored, and i received a rude response on a 4-star review, all nice parts have been removed, and I've dropped a star for being so unprofessional. The vegan nut roast may be made with "3 types of truffle oil" and "10 vegetables," but it's hard to taste any of that when the exteriors burnt to a crisp! You're making out im greedy just for pointing out the obvious. How can anyone look at that plate and say that's £15 worth of food, Gordon ramsey would have a seizure if he saw that. It's quite literally a burnt orange square, 2 carrots, 2 parsnips, a tablespoon of mash, 3 potato's, a pinch of cabbage and a metal thing full of gravy to hide how empty the plate is.

The food was overpriced for the small portions served. I ordered crispy beef salad. It contained 4 tiny strips of meat, grated carrots, pepper and onion slices and unmanageable noodles. We waited 20 minutes for 1 starter. 40 minutes for the main meal and after a 40 minute wait for dessert we asked how much longer the wait would be and the reply was "you'll get it when its ready, we're doing other food at the moment " I went to the bar and the lady behind the bar ignored me, brushed past me and left. The starter was cold and the sticky toffee pudding was merely sponge. No dates I won't go again

Our first visit under the new management as previous management were flawless. Any way we went with the specials of the day as it was St Patrick’s day and all the meals were fantastic, I had the lamb stew which had more than enough lamb in it and the little soda breads were perfect, the Bacon and cabbage was fantastic and the Beef and Guinness pie looked amazing. We had great service, all staff were attentive and friendly. We will be going back .

Not been since last year, I’m afraid won’t be going back. 😔 Meal and service were below standard. Chilli was made with cheap I’m guessing frozen mince, not really a chilli very mild, also not very warm let alone hot. Salmon salad was tasteless, salmon had no flavour, olives could have been pitted, whole meal drowning in oil that didn’t have any flavour. The place was very quiet, it never used to be!

Had the goats cheese and beetroot salad, goats chees was pretty sparse as was the beetroot ( out of a pickled jar). The meal was bulked out with grains. Far too many carbs and too many grains in terms of balancing the dish. Not much "salad" or goats cheese of veg in the mix. Shame really. No seasoning so very bland. On the positive side the wait staff were great. Don't think as a veggie , who loves salad I'll eat here again though.

Lovely place for some dinner and food to socialise with friends. Lauryn served us and was really lovely all night, helping us with any problems we had.

Great food and service. The pie of the day was spot on (just ask for a bit more gravy) and the waitresses were really helpful. Mum was looking for gluten free stuff too and there was a great selection.

Visited for the second time for Mothers Day. The food was beautiful. Our Server Lucy was very professional, friendly and smiled all evening. Will definately go again.

Main course (cod in batter) was fabulous and great value for money. Dessert was hugely overpriced for a tiny sliver of apple pie in cold, watery custard. Service was friendly but poor - had to repeatedly ask for items and gave up on a drink only for it to be served half an hour after ordering it (as we were leaving).

We won’t be returning under the new management sadly. The food is nowhere near to the standard of previous visits and is not value for money. One staff member was lovely, but one lady was rather rude even though they had messed up our order that was pre booked and then checked on arrival. There were four errors in all, including the bill which did not show our deposit and a very long wait for food. Not once were any of our table of 8 asked if we wanted a drink the whole two or so hours we were there. We decided not to have dessert and left early.

Just back from a Mother’s Day meal! Pre ordered which is not usually how we like it but we did it and never ever again! My Yorkshire was cold! Then I waited 15 mins for another on then my food was cold- it just went from bad to worse! They were under staffed yet again being greedy! Ended up not charging for mine and the 2 desserts but rather than pay another couple of waiters/waitresses they will lose money and upset customers Milly our waitress was amazing! She looked so under pressure but she handled it so well bless her! Still smiling and well mannered where as the blonde older waitress was miserable, loud and rude at times! Also the Irish woman didn’t no her arse from her elbow just ordering them around and getting stressed, just makes u feel uncomfortable Won’t be going back again it’s not the same!!!

Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our Sunday lunches the chicken was chewy and not as good as it used to be , it’s a shame as come there for many years , won’t be returning, the previous managers was so friendly and on the ball new management don’t even acknowledge you to busy chatting to the staff . Very disappointed as the staff there are amazing, hope you up your game , very loyal ex customer, good luck

Had a great evening at The Midway in Stockport last night. The food was brilliant, very tasty, piping hot and good sized portions. Homely surroundings, comfortable seating and clean. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and cheerful .We will definitely be going back 👍.

Visited the Midway several times over the last 6 months. The Sunday roast is always amazing, the other meals we’ve had were also great. The bar has a good selection of local and imported beers and a wine list seldom seen in bistro pubs! The service is always lovely.

The worst meal I have ever had never mind paid for. My wife had a chicken sandwich which comprised of raw chicken, two slabs of raw onion and regular bacon not rashers but breakfast Bacon so as you can imagine fat of which was rather like sinue. Inedible fish which they have decided to die the batter with turmeric which gives the fish a paracetamol powdery flavour and reasonable chips. When I asked why the fish batter was yellow I was pretty much told to fool punters into believing it is better quality than it is. Staff disinterested from the outset far more interested in chatty to one another or eating themselves.

Not as good as it was before it changed hands. Chips weren’t cooked properly, custard thin, generally an average meal. Which is a shame, as it used to be exceptional.
