We stayed for three very pleasant nights and dined twice. An attentive manager supported by his young but professional resturant staff enhanced an excellent experience. Obviously with its good resturant grading we expected good food. We got it - A very good chef resides here. We tried fish & chips the first night - absolutely lovely. The second dinner we went for nibbles to start followed by Cod chowder dishes with new potatoes, amazing special fries & fresh peas with asparo. Very good portions were served and all were perfectly cooked. The french wine we chose was equally good. Next time we visit the area we will stay & dine here.

We both stayed and ate here. Our room had no room darkening curtains or shades, and there is only a bathtub with a shower attachment, not an actual stand up shower, which was quite a disappointment since this wasn’t clear when we booked. The staff here are very nice. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good, but the portions are so small that we were still quite hungry after a full meal, so we went to the Tesco superstore down the road to get more food.

The food I, and my two friends, received was very mediocre in quality and served luke warm. The gnocchi with asparagus which was supposed to be a main covered only a third of the plate - a small starter portion but it cost £18.50! I would NOT recommend eating at this pub. I would also suggest customers taste the draught beers before ordering as they can be stale.

What a shame! To reflect on recent reviews, I have also been coming to this pub on and off for a few years though infrequently as it’s a 20 minute drive. Today was probably the poorest roast I have eaten in 10 years. I was really hungry so annoyingly I put up with it however my partner left hers almost entirely. To sum up: Yesterdays spuds, burnt ryvita for a yorky, undercooked parsnip, 3 tiny strips of bitter outside savoy cabbage leaves, every component had no seasoning so it was totally bland & to top it all was like warm at best. At £24 for topside I should have sussed it earlier and I was in the garden so I had paid upfront. Big mistake by me….you should be ashamed. When the waitress asked I explained but no come back was forthcoming. What an embarrassment.

My family of 6 ate here last night for a special occasion. The overall feeling was good quality food (although some individual portion sizes we felt were small - specifically some of the starters and the three main course lamb dishes at £26.50 each and the gnocchi at £18.50 both without any vegetables). The ambiance was good and some of the service the same - some of the young waiters perhaps should be a little more familiar with what is on the menu - not having had to go away to be able to answer some of our basic queries. BUT it appears that they charge for water. I was the designated driver as I don’t drink alcohol. I ordered a pint of tap water with a splash of lime cordial on arrival - a tab having been set up for our drinks and food - although I did only received a half pint. During the evening I ordered another pint of the same at the table. At the end of the evening - on checking a very substantial bill - it was quite surprising and disappointing to see both waters individually charged as ‘soda and lime’ - £2 and £3 respectively - so clearly not just 1 mistake but perhaps something they do here!! When the waiter was asked if they always charged for tap water - he seemed confused - took the bill away - and returned apologetically with the 2 items deleted. The special family evening was very enjoyable but I was left with an uneasy feeling.

Me alojé aquí con unos amigos a principios de diciembre. Tuvimos una noche relajante. El ambiente era perfecto. El pub era acogedor, con un fuego iluminado y un árbol de navidad muy bien decorado. Comencé la noche con un cóctel de color granate que estaba prosecco una delicia después de un largo día de trabajo. Una comida de tres platos, la comida era la mejor que he probado y nuestra camarera era muy atento durante toda la noche. Como vegetariano, me sentí muy bien atendidos, recomiendo encarecidamente el hongo gnocchi y el budín especiado de peras y frangipane, deliciosos.

Mejor cena pavo asado que he tenido, sabes que un chef sabe que su comercio cuando presentado con un encantador, patatas humedo turquía ganso asada grasa y cerdos en mantas además de todos los detalles sin cortar esquinas en su cocina.

Un almuerzo relajante precioso delante de una chimenea crepitante. Pescado y patatas fritas para dos, estaba perfectamente cocinado con pasta crujiente, chips bien cocinada, excelente y gran casa de guisantes blandos hizo tartare. Perros y una buena variedad de cervezas hacen de este un gran parada después de un paseo.

Necesitaba un lugar para mi visita anual a Avebury, y el White Horse Inn resultó conveniente, si algo fuera de lo común. Es un agradable hotel, con un personal amable. Tuve una agradable cena, pero era un poco caro. La habitación era agradable, limpia y ordenada, con algunas de las extras que se puede esperar de un alojamiento de primera clase mejor. El desayuno estaba bien. El único aspecto negativo fue el despertador que a medianoche! Hay un campo contiguo a la posada con ovejas y gansos, añadiendo un grado de encanto rural.

This is a lovely inn/pub/restaurant. We had a table of 8 and we were looked after really well. We preordered the food so it was quick when we sat down. Food was unbelievably good for what we thought was a normal pub. The pork roast in particular was up there with some of the 5* meals I have had. Beef was very popular too. There was lots of very treacherous and well prepared vegetables too.

Buen menú con servicio atento sin ninguna prisa. Tuve el cangrejo fresco inicial y fue muy bien presentado, estaba buenísimo y una generosa porción de cangrejo fresco. Fantástica patatas fritas triple hamburguesa cocinada con el Wagyu que fue derritiendo y sabrosa. Pedido mayonesa con la patatas, sobresaliente también aquí - no barato catering basura. acabados con la tabla de quesos y una buena selección de nuevo bien embargado (uvas, manzanas, apio, etc.). chutney casero Todo el mundo estaba encantado con su comida y puedo decir que volveremos a disfrutar más. El Caballo Blanco ha sido siempre un gran pub y ahora parece ser mejor relación calidad-precio, no es barato pero vale la pena una visita.

A su llegada Rebecca era muy acogedor, amable y un excelente camarera del restaurante, así como su colega. Elegí el plato de cordero y tarta, ambos estamos boca. El desayuno inglés completo era caliente que era muy fresca y sabrosa y una agradable sorpresa ya que la comida es más a menudo que no, de secado bajo calentadores. El Inn tiene sólo 8 habitaciones por lo tanto el toque personal de Eva (el director) y su personal es evidente. Marido de eva es el Chef. Excelente relación calidad-precio - pruébalo!

Este lugar ha sido mía y de mi esposa lugar favorito durante los últimos 6 años. (Vivimos localmente) para aquellos que visitan Wiltshire y elija el caballo blanco para alojarse o comer deben ser conscientes de que este pub ha cambiado recientemente de gestión y ahora nada como la versión de el sitio revisado por personas. Es una pena que Tara y Danny trasladados.

Visitando por primera vez, encontré este encantador pub ser acogedor, cálido y lleno de Solamente cambias. La comida era muy buena, bien preparada y presentada. Casero y fresco, que era evidente en cada bocanada. El pub tiene una especie de escuela de ambiente, apegado a las raíces de lo que un país debe sentirse como pub, y sabor como parece! Tienen un perro pequeño y encantador también, amable y dulce... algo a tener en cuenta si no eres un amante de perros, él será alrededor.

He visitado en el pasado, tenía un maravilloso servicio y comida excelente - Tara y Danny eran simplemente fabuloso, sin embargo he visitado recientemente y quedé muy decepcionado con mi visita. La nueva dueña nos dio la bienvenida, no era cálido, pero era desagradable. El pub ha perdido su personalidad, y ahora es como estar en un pueblo fantasma. Las camareras eran muy tranquilo, tímido, amable, pero repetitiva. Allí parecía ser no hay ambiente! Hay muchas opciones de vegetación, a un risotto. Mi familia y yo enviado algunos alimentos de atrás, y nos dijeron que estábamos completamente equivocados, y la comida estaba bien.

Hemos estado aquí varias veces para comer, y nunca he entendido por qué no es más popular, aunque la ubicación remota puede ser algo af actor. Hay un gran bar agradable en el que uno puede comer, y un poco formal pero muy agradable comedor. Elegimos el comedor y no tengo mucho de empresa en un jueves.

Encontré este lugar por casualidad en un viaje desde Heathrow hasta el lejano oeste. No podría haber hecho mejor. Maravillosamente hospitalarios y pareja trabajadora lleva este lugar que está caracterizada por una buena cerveza, buena comida, habitaciones cómodas y limpias y generoso servicio. Quedamos totalmente encantados, exactamente lo que necesitábamos después de un viaje internacional de 36 horas. Sin duda volveremos.

Landlord and landlady very knowledgeable of the products on the menus, also nice touch with the local ciders that seem to have started changing weekly (you must try the Marmalade Orchard Pig Cider) and some premium spirits you won't see in many Michelin * establishments. Sincerest well done and hats off to Dave and Eva(new landlord & lady) for raising the plank even further.

Visitamos el caballo blanco para el cumpleaños de mi esposa y cenamos con amigos. Desde el momento en que llegamos y se sentó hasta el momento en que nos fuimos fue todo fantástico. Estábamos bastante tarde sentado, principalmente debido a demasiado chinwagging pero nunca fueron presionados por el personal o sentir que estaban causando un problema por llegar tarde. Yo Solomillo en el hueso para el plato principal que estaba perfectamente preparada. Un amigo de nuestro comedor con nosotros considera un experto de Sticky Toffee Pudding (posiblemente la única), y destacó que era el mejor de todos.

Estoy muy contento de que no; la comida en el White Horse Inn es absolutamente de primera clase!

Qué sorpresa. Entré en el bar aburrido y pensamos que por una fracción de segundo, que habían cometido un error. Sin embargo, el personal era muy amable y la comida era excelente. Todos nuestros cursos fueron muy agradable excepto por debajo de vieiras preparado. Esto puede haber sido de nuestro gusto, pero me llevaron con ellos y ellas un poco más preparado. Sin duda volveré para otra comida muy bien cocinado y presentado.

Had a beautiful meal at the White Horse, with exceptional service and a great atmosphere, all the staff were extremely pleasant and the food was gorgeous. Will defiantly be visiting again!

En una reciente visita a ver a unos amigos de la zona indicaron que cenamos en el caballo blanco. Fuimos recibidos por el nuevo director de Eva, que era extremadamente cálido y acogedor. Nos ofrecieron bebidas y conversamos en el bar mientras los niños fuimos a ver los gansos y cerdos en el jardín. Tienen una zona de jardín que rodea el edificio. El menú tenía mucho para elegir y el chef estaba más que dispuesto a acomodar a un niño particularmente exigente. Cuando la camarera compramos nuestra comida de Nosotros quedamos muy satisfechos con la calidad de la comida que estaba a un nivel alto. Recomiendo encarecidamente el White Horse y volveré en mi próximo viaje a Compton Basset.

Tuvimos nuestra boda desayuno/aquí. El personal no podría haber sido más servicial, cualquier plato que queríamos que estuviesen dispuestos a ofrecer. Como era nos sentimos el menú de temporada que tuvo cuando fuimos a organizar nuestra boda fue tan buena que eligió este menú. La comida era excelente y muy buena relación calidad-precio. El servicio era genial, muy amable y nos alegró el día muy especial. El alojamiento es excelente y recomiendo encarecidamente el desayuno. Sin duda volveremos para almuerzos y cenas.

Thank you trip advisor if it had not been for you we would have missed this amazing place. We met up with good friends here for lunch mid way between our homes.We pulled into the car park to see chickens & ducks running around in a small field. We walked into a warm friendly welcome from Sam the landlady, who showed us to our table & handed us menus. Three of us started with devilled whitebait the fourth had squid which we all throughly enjoyed. This was followed by Ham eggs & chips, (never seen such orange egg yolks) Salmon & Prawn Salad, Sausage & mash with Onion gravy & Scampi & Chips all very well presented. We all throughly enjoyed our mains. Unfortunately were all too full to sample a dessert, instead all had coffee nicely presented in a cafetiere. Throughly enjoyed our time here we will return.

Me fui anoche con mi familia como una cena de celebración para un nuevo trabajo. Nunca habíamos estado antes, pero vimos en línea y probar. La ubicación es preciosa pero por desgracia no fue un buen día, pero me imagino que en un día soleado es un lugar perfecto para alojarse. El servicio era maravilloso - propietario encantador que era muy hablador y complaciente. La manera maravillosa comida - la mayoría de los del grupo tenía algún tipo de huevo whisky escocés start, que era delicioso, una persona tenía revueltos de pato con espárragos que fue sublime. Teníamos una mezcla de platos principales - hamburguesas, chuleta de cerdo, curry y la pesca del día. Todo era perfecto, cocinado maravillosamente, un montón de gustos, enormes porciones (todos los tamaños de la porción son grandes, así que podría haber una lucha y un principal, pero merece la pena probar ambas sólo por las delicias!)

Volvimos al Caballo Blanco esperando la comida excepcional que habíamos recibido en todos los otros ocasionales sólo para ser Amargamente decepcionado. el cordero era grasoso y recocido mientras las verduras eran tan duras que eran imposibles de comer. Cuando nos quejamos nos ofrecieron más verduras que aún estaban bien cocinados. Toda la comida fue rematado por un budín de yorkshire que extremadamente grande era más como una galleta y cuyo único objetivo parece ser el de ocultar el hecho de que la porción era mucho más pequeña de lo habitual. Por desgracia para nosotros nos informaron de que había habido un cambio de dirección desde nuestra última visita. En nuestra experiencia, sin duda no es un cambio para mejor y por desgracia, no volveremos a lo que solía ser uno de los mejores pubs de la zona, si esta es la calidad de comida que sirven.

Así que es muy caro. Impactada por comida para niños! Sólo ocasionalmente como no valía £. La comida era buena, pero la carne estaba dura, que no deberían esperar que en esos precios.
