We stumbled across this place by chance, when struggling to find anywhere to fit 8 of us in for lunch at the last minute. Although they were very busy, they managed to accommodate us on their last tables, and we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch. The staff were so friendly, helpful and good with the 4 children in the party. Had a mixture of Sunday lunches, burgers, pasta, fish and chips and all were substantial and tasty. Also indulged in some starters, desserts, pints and coffees.

Exceptional Sunday lunch with family (9 of us) Food and service were both brilliant (roast potatoes and gravy need their own mention. This will definitely be on my ‘go to’ list next time I’m visiting family in the area. Thank you for making us all so welcome.

It is a nice place to meet up once a month with fellow car enthusiasts.

We turned up as a group of 26, most having pre-ordered food a few days before. Food was delivered quickly and efficiently. Even those who hadn't pre-ordered and were warned about a delay received their food quickly. Food and drink were good, although the lunchtime menu is a little limited. I'm sure we will visit again.

Lovely country pub, great atmosphere, very popular. Food was limited, really let this wonderful pub with beautiful outside area. I had a roast, veg delicious but roasted mushrooms as a vegetarian option was uninspired and over priced. Others in our party enjoyed their traditional roast. Most of the other dishes were deep fried.

We were on holiday in Lea and had a lovely meal at the pub. The barman was very helpful and they welcomed dogs which is a plus for us as we take our dog most places with us. Would recommend going!

Held my 70th Birthday party here on Saturday 16 March for 60 people it was a great atmosphere the buffet was lovely and plenty to eat. The boys behind the bar were excellent and Mick was most helpful in getting everything organised and I had good feedback from my guests, would thoroughly recommend the venue.

A warm cozy village pub. with a nice local feel and a well maintained real fire🔥 A pint of lime n soda 2.00 GBP Dog friendly, but pub rules are dogs are only allowed water outside. 💧 So she had a melting ice cube instead That means it only get a 3 pawsup 🐾🐾🐾 review.. A lovely clean ladies toilet but could do with a good spring clean, a lot of cobwebs noted and not the ones left over Halloween. In fact, the Christmas decoration chucked over the old cobweb showed lack of pub attention to detai, I do hope it's duely noted and dusted away before any Christmas 🎄 dinners are served Reasonable price cheesy chips or handcut or French Fries 🍟 marinated olives, sourdough warm bread 🍞 all 3.50 each GBP

We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, just 30 minutes before the chef went home. Despite that our meals were tasty, hot, and good quality, served with a smile and friendly service. Thanks Rose and Crown!

Good even though we lost our skittles match

We visited with some friends and our dogs for a lovely Saturday lunchtime. The welcome was very friendly. We ordered 3 fish and chips and one chicken burger with some extras. The owner asked if the dogs would like something as well and kindly bought some sausages for them, which they loved. Our food was well cooked and presented and the chef came out to see if everything was ok, which was a nice touch. It was very reasonably priced and we look forward to visiting again.

We are locals to Wiltshire and we came here because we were in the area and in the past the staff and manager at this pub were very kind and caring for an elderly gentleman who lived in the village and I had worked with. The welcome was warm and the food fabulous. Highly recommended.

Did I catch this pub on a bad day, it certainly wasn't busy? The food was very poor and normally I would complain about the very small amount. The chips were a soggy mess covered in a greasy piece of fish. I will not be visiting again

Really great pub for kids with playground outside and large secure garden with lots of seating. Also a bit that is outside but covered . Food was really nice too and great servicez would recommend.

This is a lovely welcoming old english country pub. The staff are the heart of this pub, attentive, polite and efficient. The food is very well priced, and the quality is very high. The food is the best we have had out in a long time.This is how all pubs should be, great food , a great selection of beers, ales and cider as well, if carlesberg made pubs....

Best pub in Wiltshire! We have been working as traders at Womad for years and so have tried a fair few pubs in the area as we always go for a pub meal before/after the festival and we can honestly say this by far the best we have tried in the area. Great atmosphere, prices and staff what more could you want. It was pouring with rain but the beer garden also looked lovely. We were served/cooked for by two lovely young boys who we could not ask anything more from. Special shout out to Brynn who cooked for our table of 8 by himself 2 weeks post A-levels! We wish you boys all the best for the future and thank you for an enjoyable evening! We will see you again soon

Circular walk from malmesbury and a good stop off for a drink in the garden.

Drove past the Rose and Crown early one Sunday morning and thought that it looked like a good village pub, so on the way back dropped in on spec and managed to get a table for two for Sunday lunch. Quirky spaces inside break the place up which is nice. Service was quick and friendly and lunch was excellent - since when did you get six veg with leg of lamb? - and a chopped up sausage was provided to be shared by our two sausage dogs in this dog friendly pub. The large car park is on the opposite side of the road so don't be put off by thinking that you have to park on the road. We'll be back!

Fantastic lunch with friends! The food was lovely, really nice pub and the staff and service was great! They were brilliant with our friends children. The only things I'd change - more veggie options and the chocolate truffle torte is delicious but rich so would be better served with a berry sorbet.

Great pub, I grew up in Lea so decided to pop back for a drink with my family.

We arrived around 7pm for Drinks and they were still serving Food as advertised on the sign outside, but when asking about ordering Food at the Bar the Barman was disinterested and saying they are not taking any Food Orders dispite the place was only half full. Not a great Customer experience and better Staff is needed.

Arrived with some Friends to have a Drink early Evening and noticed a sign outside saying they were doing Food, but asking about ordering at the Barman who was disinterested saying they were busy dispite plenty of Empty Tables. We sat outside and witness another couple unhappy about their order. Certainly this venue needs better Management and team for Customer service!.

Friendly pub in a beautiful Cotswold setting. The garden is great for letting the kids run and the food was pretty good value. A little let down by the availability of desserts.

A peaceful location for a classic country pub, great garden. Also they were serving Sunday lunch up to 5pm which we particularly appreciated as we had lost track of time. Friendly staff and good parking .

Nice pub and looked like a good garden although it was a cool evening so we stayed inside. Enjoyed a great couple of pints of Ale.

Great for young family's but limited vegan choice

It was mother's day and they were extremely busy so it felt a bit rushed, but they apologized about that. The service is excellent and although I only had beer battered cod and chips, the food was worth the drive out there. I look forward to going again soon

What a great time we had. The food was delicious and carefully prepared. The ambience was warm and welcoming. But what made the real difference was the friendliness of the person I took to be the landlord. He doubled up as waiter and had a quiet charm that made us feel at home. It made me realise how often that quality is lacking. This is a real gem.

Went there last night for a spontaneous first date. The locals were really welcoming and friendly considering its a little local pub in a village. Will return more often

Nice location country pub, friendly staff and good food.

As a local of the Lea area, I visit The Rose & Crown quite regularly and although the food is incredible in taste, as of recently I have found that the menu options are falling inadequate to my maturing senses. After visiting many times, I return to the same few menu options week in week out. On top of this, there are incredibly few vegetarian and vegan options for my lovely wife Linda, who is a vegetarian. I feel as though the pub is lacking in a managerial figure who wants to keep the place alive and really wants to see it prosper. Despite this, the staff on the ground were really kind, polite and helpful. They catered to all of my needs and made sure that me, my wife and my good friend, visiting from Durham had a great experience. I feel as though this pub has vast potential, however my neighbouring locals and I both feel that the owner no longer cares about the image that his pub spreads throughout the local village.

The chips are out of this world.. Yeah really good food and service. They do warn you about a waiting time.. Which is understandable as they are quite busy

I'm not from the local area but recently came down to visited a old university mate who lives local to the pub, he told me it was a great place for a bite to eat and a good hangout for the locals. Having high expectation we went ready for a great time. which I and to an extent. the locals were amazing, lovely people with some of the most incredible stories and the service I received was some of the best ever. But, I am vegetarian and the lack of options wasn't what I expected for such a beloved pub. I asked my server about it and was told that there hasn't be much of the change to the menu in a while and was told it was to remove a few items which'd surprised me due to the world we live in where vegetarians, vegans, and pescatarians are in a stage of more friendly food for them but only having 3 mains was not what I was expecting. Hope the owner or who ever will see this and hopefully make some changes for this and for the pub in general as talking with staff and locals its beloved by all and they want it to succeed as they all see potential in it.

Lovely venue for a party. The staff are so helpful, nothing is to much trouble. The food is good and they cater for gluten-free and dairy free. I would definitely recommend the Rose and Crown.

Excellent pub. This was the third party we've organised in the function room here. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful and this was no exception. The food was good, and prices were reasonable. Nice garden too - we've just had coffee in the sun out there. Arkell's ales. Recommended!

I have been to this pub a few times before and to be quite honest it was fine, pleasant atmosphere, food was mediocre and yes I would have normally gone back there but for the service and attitude I had to day from a bar man with a beard. He was rude and had attitude towards my friend who was enquiring after food who was told there was no food being served until after a certain time due to a wake being held. Under normal circumstances I could understand this but there was only fifteen to twenty people in the funeral party with no other customers in the pub. We were there at half an hour before the wake was to begin so how long does it take to cook three burgers. Naturally I shall be voting with my feet and not visiting this pub again which is a shame.

This a lovely, relaxed, child friendly, dog friendly pub that just happens to sell good food and great beer 🍺.

When you go to a pub for a sunday roast, you expect a good, filling meal. What I got did not live up to this expectation. I got three lukewarm potatoes, a sub-par size Yorkshire pudding and the most disappointing and surprising part was the meat. Instead of a good piece of pork, I got a few slices of paper thin flesh. It was like the sort of meat you’d buy from Tesco and put in a sandwich for lunch. It was as if the meat had been spray painted onto the plate, that was how thin it felt. Now maybe I was unlucky. Maybe other meals aren’t like this here, your mileage may vary, I wouldn’t know. But from my experience here, I can say for sure I wouldn’t come back here again. Unless they sort the meat out, of course.

Stop here on the way back home with are dog. For a drink in the pub garden the grass and area was well maintained would of like a meal but to early in the afternoon. The staff were very friendly the menu looked good if in the area again would have a meal.

Visited this pub on a very wet day with an even wetter muddy dog whilst out walking. The welcome could not have been warmer, even though all we wanted was a hot cup of coffee. Wished we had longer to stay and sample the food as it looked delicious. Hope to return on a sunny day and sit in the garden. Diana and David

we recently stayed in lea for a week, we called into this pub on several occasions. the staff were very friendly ,the food and drinks were of high quality. we will certainly call again when we visit this part of the country. top marks to everybody concerned.

Out enjoying the sunshine, we called in to the Rose and Crown, Lea near Malmesbury for a light lunch. It was our first pub outing for fifteen months..The landlord made us most welcome observing all the safe distancing procedures for our safety. We ordered two light lunches which represented very good value.So two tasty meals, good beer coupled with the landlord's friendly courtesy made for a very pleasant lunch trip out.

We were hiking past and popped in for a quick drink but decided to stay for lunch as we were so impressed. The staff were very friendly, the pub was beautiful with a huge beer garden and the food was fantastic. This is a real hidden gem. We would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

The Rose and Crown in Lea is how all smaller pubs should be, amazing quality food and excellent service in a warm friendly environment. The ingredients are fresh and the menu is modern, as I live local I'd definitely be dining here again.

Well done for Kelsie and Ollie opening up after the lockdown. They have a great Tier 2 menu so everybody can turn up, have a beer with a well priced "substantial meal". Service and hospitality second to none 👍

Nice classic local pub with an excellent menu.

Went at 3pm for a roast. Service was questionable and very slow. Due to the table service, it took 25 minutes to get offered a drink from when we entered the pub. (Which feels like a lifetime when you’re gagging for a beer). Then finally found out that they had run out of lamb and crackling for the pork.. not ideal after 3 hours of opening. I ended up wiping our own table down as we didn’t fancy sitting at a sticky table with crumbs on it from the previous Sunday feast-ers. Average roast, small portions and boiled veg. Gravy and potatoes were ok. The young lad serving us was polite and pleasant. Older chap.. not so much. Fairly hostile until we paid at the end, classic.
