We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, the staff were delightful and the food was exceptionally delicious. We highly recommend this establishment.

Lovely festive lunch today with friends. I had a gluten free turkey dinner. Lots of lovely roasted carrots and parsnips, gravy, braised red cabbage, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese chestnut stuffing and tasty turkey. Everything was flavoursome and tasted fresh.

Two meals were lovely, however the third was steak which was very chewy.

The food did not meet our expectations, I have dined here numerous times over the years, but the quality of food/cooking has fallen to the point where I'm unlikly to return given the poor response to the feedback given when asked if all ok twice, ignored other than apology. Starter of Tempuara Prawns whilst the Prawns were good, the seeded chillies were super hot and spoilt the dish. Garlic mushrooms was again a good dish but spoilt by being over salted. Rump steak, whilst the dish initially presented well, was so dry it resembled cardboard and was left uneaten. Bill £60 including 2 drinks.

Booked by a friend for lunch. Lovely food and good service. I had garlic mushrooms with Stilton and scampi. Big portions and nicely presented. No room for dessert. Followed by G&T in the nice garden.

Went for Sunday roast, tasted ok but for £19 I wouldn’t recommend it. Slices of meat half inch thick slopped on top of a pile of veg with hard roast potato’s. Be nice to see what your trying to eat. Starter was lovely though and great service.

Went here because Angel Hotel Charges punters to park even if you are dining or at the bar. Gladstone is free parking and better selection of beers.

My family (10) and I enjoyed a very relaxed yet, professional atmosphere. The dinner was absolutely amazing, full of flavour, generous portions and a great variety of food to suit all tastes. The owner was the perfect mix of approachable yet professional 👏 We all agree that we would 100% recommend this pub. Just thought I'd mention that the Guinness is very good 👍 😀

Based on reviews we had intended to eat here. Unfortunately it was an early Wednesday evening and the restaurant was closed. The bar was small and very noisy with a large group of women. The large garden was very nice though.

Don't be put off by the exterior! I wouldn't have gone in had it not been for reviews on here. The restaurant is really lovely. Starter was delicious and a large portion. Main was .... mostly amazing.... the burger was fantastic, I had the beef & stilton one - it was lovely. The sweet potato wedges though.... they tasted like they had been deep fried.... or boiled.... or something, who knows. All in all, I was fed. the started had filled me up anyway and the burger was divine. Just go for normal chips!!

Popped in for something to eat on the spur of the moment. Food was really lovely and good portion sizes. Waitress was really friendly and welcoming, we’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food and service! Cannot recommend high enough. The beers were good value and the ciabatta and chips were superb. Big portions and very tasty. The sun was out and the beer garden was great. The manager couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be back, Thank you!

The food and service really is impressive here. The menu is good value and the portions are extremely generous. The food really does stand out for me and is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Best place to eat in Chippenham

You cant see the menu on there website the pictures on the website of there food did not look good. So I would not recommend this place. It looks good on the out side.😔😔😔😔

Nice spot. Excellent fish and chips with Thatcher's cider. Note that on days it closes at 3, kitchen closes at 2.

Visited today with friends & had the most amazing meal. The burger with stilton was absolutely gorgeous and I opted for the smaller portion of the chocolate brownie which was perfect. Incredible food, relaxed atmosphere & beautiful venue. Will 100% return. Thank you!

Had a beautiful meal with friends here today. I opted for the fish and chips, I would have to say it was the nicest fish and chips I’ve ever had. Lovely atmosphere and fantastically attentive staff. Will return with family soon especially my celiac son to try the gluten free options.

10 of us, which included to small children had lunch at the Gladstone Arms and the food was excellent. I had a chicken and bacon ciabatta with pit prop chips - no complaints, it did the job. I would definitely recommend this pub. Thank you for a great time.

I've been coming to the Gladstone for years with my children, family and friends. The food today was the best it's ever been - tempura prawns were beautiful. Great service as always.

We visited The Gladstone on a mid- week night. The place was busy but service good and waitresses pleasant. The food, as always, was very good. I was very pleased to see the smoked salmon and prawn timbale on the menu. Delicious! Afterwards I had the spiced chicken breast and everyone else had the steak pie. All were excellent. We’ve been going to The Gladstone for a number of years and it can always be relied upon to deliver.

Friday lunchtime, Mum & Daughter meal. Mum had the Sweet Chilli Chicken and Bacon Salad, with a side of Chunky Chips. And I had the Steak & Ale Shortcrust Pie, with Chunky Chips, Peas, and a pot of Gravy. Both dishes were cooked beautifully and didn't disappoint. The Pie.... well, my knife just slide straight through. It was cooked to perfection 🙏🤗 My only annoyance is with myself, for not trying this dish on any of my previous visits. It's definitely my new favourite dish! We had Ice Cream and Apple Crumble n Custard for our Dessert. Again, absolutely perfect 🙏 Leighton, the Landlord, was our host and was amazing as always. The perfect start to our Easter weekend 🙏❤️

Both dishes were so tasty and cooked to absolute perfection. The Pie is definitely my new favourite from this restaurant! For Dessert, we had Ice Cream, and Apple Pie & Custard. Which again, did not disappoint our appetite. Service by the Landlord, was perfect. The atmosphere, with plenty other guests also eating, was lovely. If you haven't tried this restaurant before, your missing out! Especially with the summer months coming, where you can use their lovely large outside area also. For eating or just to socialise.

We visited for dinner due to the high number of favourable reviews. Unfortunately due to our experience this review is not so favourable. I've visited enough restaurants over the years to be able to tell good from bad. The staff were pleasant enough, but that's as much as I can say was positive. We were there on a quiet week day night with just a handful of other diners but yet it took about 45 minutes before our main dishes arrived. We had a pork belly and a steak and ale pie. The pork belly was extremely dry and overcooked. The pie was a slice from a large pie which was also dry, presumably from reheating. The plates were stone cold. Desserts were about adequate. Overall a big disappointment. Won't be going back, and can't recommend.

We held my daughters baby shower at the Gladstone. From the time we booked with Leighton nothing was up much trouble and Leighton was so helpful with food and us decorating the restaurant with baby shower. We had amazing food and Leighton sorted Gluten free food and vegan food for our guests. All the guests had a great afternoon and loved the food. Thank you to Leighton and his team for hosting our private function for my son’s surprise 21st Birthday Celebration. Nothing was too much trouble and Leighton was very responsive and attentive with all helping us make the plans and arrangements - nothing was too much trouble. The feedback from our party of guests (20 of us for dinner) was amazing. “lovely evening, beautiful people and amazing food”. Food was outstanding, served very hot and generous portions. Hubby said the tempura prawns were the best he’d had and my pork belly main was just delicious with amazing crackling. Fantastic service, didn’t feel rushed but not too slow either. Very friendly landlord who waited on us himself and gave us suggestions of places to visit in the area. Really good value for money. Highly recommend a visit here.

Absolutely the best Sunday roast I have ever had. My lamb was cooked to perfection and the rest was delicious too. Defiantly comping back next week again

My friends and I spent another lovely relaxing get together at the Gladstone this evening whilst being attentively waited on, and we were served an amazing choice of drinks and beautifully cooked meals at very reasonable prices, so I look forward to my next visit!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here, I highly recommend the garlic mushrooms in stilton sauce and the tempura prawn starters. The roasts were great (I had beef) but to be honest all the meals that I saw coming out looked very good.

Chicken pie 'to die' for. Beer was spot on too and the bloke running the gaff was sound af.

Managed to mess up my booking! Reserved table on line for 6 at a Gladstone arms in London rather than Chippenham. Despite my error, and the restaurant being very busy, Leighton was able to squeeze us in. Food and service was impeccable. Can’t recommend enough.

Went with a large group, food seemed to take an eternity to come out but was ok, nobody complained but nobody is blown away either. Serving a prosecco in a shot glass with the cocktail was weird though, no getting away from that.

Dreadful, fish supposed to be cod, fresh from the freezer, chips fresh from the freezer, the worst bottle of merlot I have ever had. When will I learn that cheap is cheap?

Had an incredible Sunday roast (and dessert!). The food was so good, especially the cheesy cauliflower 😍 the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great - lovely cosy fire going. Had a roast, dessert and a few pints - definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

The Gladstone is a great place - great atmosphere, lovely staff, good food (only 4 stars as my fish was overcooked) and good service - only one waiter/barman on duty when we were there - he was run ragged but the smile and banter never deserted him. Reasonably priced too. We shall be heading back there.

To many customers for only one person to be serving. The whole building was cold.

Noisy and fun with excellent food. Visited on a Friday evening along with groups,of young locals who were joyfully celebrating the end of the working week. The hard surface with no fabric to reduce sound made it uncomfortably noisy. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food at reasonable prices.

We had our 25th wedding anniversary celebration there last night 21st October. Food, staff, atmosphere was brilliant. We honestly couldn't fault anything. The Gladstone Arms is a hidden gem. Loved it so much we're going back again

Disappointed. Sunday lunch. Reheated beef slices, not carved off a joint. Yorkies made in advance so a bit dried out. Overcooked veg. Roasties a bit soggy. Needed a hotter plate. So well below expectations. They are churning out these meals.

Had a table for 6 of us on a Saturday night and nothing was too much trouble. The food was worth waiting for - absolutely gorgeous - great presentation and marvellous taste. We will be back!

Discovered this pub by chance one summers day whilst trying to find a beer garden. We were not disappointed. The garden is lovely and large and a sun trap. We travel from Swindon to visit the Gladstone Arms when we know the weather is good so we can enjoy the garden and the lovely atmosphere and great music. Haven't tried the food, but it looks amazing. Would definitely recommend and will be back next summer ☀️

Extremely enjoyable food amazing

We arrived about 1530:having checked previously by e mail (which was answered promptly) that we would be able to get food at this time as a stop over on our trip from Wales. We had great difficulty finding somewhere to park but the landlord came out and moved the No Parking sign for us. The outside of the pub did not appeal and the doors were in desperate need of painting and our hearts sank. We walked through a rather dark bar with one customer into a bright, attractive restaurant with flowers on the table and spotlessly clean tables. We were allowed to settle and peruse the menu in slow time and our orders were taken. The food is obviously cooked freshly and there was a little wait which turned out to be well worth it. The four totally different meals were beautifully presented, piping hot and absolutely delicious! The sweet chilli chicken and bacon salad was the best I’d ever tasted. The visitors from Australia agreed, this place is an absolute gem and a fantastic find. What a shame the entrance does not do credit to the restaurant and it’s food.

We phoned up on Sunday lunchtime at very short notice and was offered the last table in the restaurant, we asked for a high chair for our granddaughter, and was told they all in use but they would arrange a cushion on a chair for her. Which was already in place when we arrived. The service and the staff were exceptional, and the food was just as good. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.

Awful, visited due to the relatively high Trip Advisor score . Really disappointed. I had the Gammon but it was tough as leather and overcooked. My partner had the pie ( chicken leak and pancetta) . She found it bland and “sloppy”. We did mention the issues to the staff twice but they really couldn’t care less if they tried . Which kind of says it all really …… Thankfully, we won’t be visiting again

Extremely delicious food. My mouth waters just thinking of there menu. I have been going here on and off for years and every single time the food is outstanding.

We visited on Wed 13th and the restaurant was very busy. We were quickly seated as had pre booked and the drinks were ordered and delivered very quickly.. the menus has a large choice and it took us a while to choose but we weren't hurried. 1 starter of garlic mushrooms which was amazing. 3 fish and chips and one gammon. All excellent and very well cooked. The chips were the best we had had for a long time anywhere. No room for desserts but sure we will return to sample them. All in all a lovely night out, great service and didn’t disappoint.

Came to the Gladstone Arms last night for a meal with my partner! And what a FAB meal it was!! Food was served hot and fresh and it was mouth watering..I’m actually ashamed of myself that I hadn’t been here before as I live in chippenham, it may have been my first but definitely won’t be my last visit!!! Gorgeous food..great service and lovely atmosphere! It was spot on! Thank you!

Had a great meal here last night. It was busy, we knew that in advance, we were asked if we wanted to sit in a quieter area - which we did. The food was fantastic- for starter we shared the chicken goujons - they were very tasty with a dip. We had pie and mash and sausage and mash for mains. Really good food, plenty and flavoursome. The best bit was the Bakewell cheesecake - so divine. We thought the prices were good for what we had, the barman / waiter was chirpy and helpful. We didn’t wait long considering they were very busy…all in all a great experience. Would recommend.

Last Saturday was the best day of my life. We're so pleased we chose The Gladstone Arms for our wedding reception. The staff were fantastic. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was to die for. They allowed us to go in early to decorate the bar, garden and the gazebo. Absolutely fantastic.

This pub has the best chef , food delicious , customer service is great , great atmosphere and nothing is to much trouble , would highly recommend for any occasion or just a friendly drink in the garden x

Five of us dined here on the recommendation of one of the team who lives in Chippenham, the rest of us were visiting for the evening. Each ordered different cuts of steak, all requesting them to be cooked differently. Each steak was cooked and presented...

Havnt been to the gladdy for a while. Service and service was so awesome. Bumped into a friend on the way down and they recomebed the thia green curry and it didn't disappoint. Look forward to coming back
