Very nice pub with friendly staff.

Awful place smells bad is always dirty some of the staff are so rude the events are poorly put together most days you would even know this place was still open when u walk past it be careful when parking too car park always full of glass

Not for me.but it's a pub that's surviving and local good luck to them.

I like a decent pint of beer ,unfortunately, every time we go in, it's always poorly kept, so we have to revert to Guinness, place is clean, and staff are friendly but the beer let's it down .

Went for a family get together, the first time I'd ever been in there, the only downside was the state of the dartboard & where it was situated.

I go Upto the elews every week and love all the new things there brining in I go up for the carvery most weeks went up for there karaoke and will be going up For the bingo night I can’t wait to see what els they organise staff are lovey atmosphere is always Perfect

It has a lot of potential, but I think only as a food based pub. It's on a dead end road so apart from the locals no passing trade. I would like to see bar snacks all day and proper pub restaurant food. I have an interest in seeing this business succeed as it will hopefully soon be my local. Bring on the food even if it's simple and creates no waste.

Great pub with good beer and friendly staff

Not lived in the area long so obviously thought we’d try one of the local pubs. I think reading by past reviews this place once was great but my god it’s gone downhill fast. The food was inedible and the place looks like nobody’s looked after it for a few years. Staff were nice but they we’re having to deal with too many all day drinkers swearing and generally being obnoxious. I couldn’t recommend a quick drink here never mind a meal.

Tina and Lucy facilitated a fantastic wake for my wife. We were able to have over 100 people fed and watered with Caribbean food (from the Chefs Hut) and sandwiches etc from Number One. I am sure Gail would have been proud of the wake.

Myself and my family visited the Elwes Arms for Christmas dinner which we had been long looking forward to. We left very disappointed, for the money it cost per head we all felt very let down. Some of the dinner cane out cold and the Landlady seemed more stressed than accommodating. I would of paid 30.00 tops for this meal unfortunately it did not warrant £45. The atmosphere lacked also. Average at best

Took my family for dinner tonight and had a lovely time. Great food at fantastic value, lovely staff and a friendly atmosphere, even has a outdoor play area to keep the kids occupied. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend.

The bar tender was very attentive and helpful. The buffet was appreciated but the sauage in the sausage rolls was in short supply. The carvery wasn't functioning because of Covid but the is an odd ordering system requiring a tick for what you want in most categories but a tick for what you don't want in the veggies.

Recently moved to Nottingham and after a busy couple of days we really fancied a Sunday dinner. We arrived to an almost empty pub - probably 5 tables but it's very large. We were seated and asked for our order of drinks of which came pretty quickly. We ordered our Sunday carvery (only food they were serving was the Sunday dinner - can't call it a carvery as you couldn't serve yourself). The food came and it was quite blatently frozen veg and Yorkshire's as previous tables had recognised it and had complained. The gravy was granules. The meat looked like a ready meal from the Tesco Value range We couldn't eat our food so decided to call it quits. Seemed a few people came here based on good reviews and we're complaining to as the manager decided to stop any food bookings. Seems a real shame as we came here due to seeing some great reviews and high stars on TripAdvisor. The staff were polite and understanding, so that's a positive!Really hope they sort it out as it was clearly a good pub at one point. 4* for service 0* for food (I hate complaining about anything but this was just something that I had to say something)

Managed to persuade the kids it would be safe to go to the pub on a Wednesday night. Everything very well organised - clear directions etc, sanitiser on arrival. Food came quickly as you'd expect from a carvery, quality was excellent - my beef was particularly good but everyone enjoyed theirs (including one veggie). Very good value too, feeding a hungry (and thirsty) family of 4 for £40, highly recommend this place.

Was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Delivered exactly on time with some fabulous reviews from grateful recipients. Really fresh sandwiches and some delicious cakes. So easy to arrange, pay and we’re delivered from afar. Wish I lived nearer myself but will definitely be using to send treats whilst it continues again. Think I’m Up to 7 teas ordered so far! Fantastic afternoon tea delivery during the pandemic for my nanna's 84th birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed it while socially distanced in her garden snadwich9and cakes were delicious definitely recommended thank you.

We've had a few of the Sunday Roast from the Elwes now, and everyone of them were amazing, superb portion sizes, even the kids portions were big, tasted amazing, meat was lovely and with plenty of veg. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower cheese. The staff are soo friendly and go out of their way to help you, a couple of times I left it quite late to order and tbh I didnt think they would cater for my son who is Dairy free as he has an allergy, but they did, and it was very much appriciated. I couldnt recommend them enough,thankyou so much, and we'll see you at the weekend xxx

We have frequented the Elwes and it never dissapoints, we have held big surprise birthdays and have attended other parties here. I have spent more than one Birthday here too. As well as having been to collect lockdown Carveries since the pandemic. Becky and the team and amazing. A credit to Nottingham

We would highly recommend the Sunday Roast if you want a change from cooking and the lock down .It was quick and a prompt service. We had roast lamb dinners and puddings and it was delicious 👍

Tuvimos nuestro almuerzo dominical para 2 adultos y 1 pequeño, realmente impresionado de principio a fin, fácil de ordenar, simple de pagar, gel de manos a la llegada, la comida era el estándar alto habitual que esperarías de Becky y Dave, increíble porciones, muy bien organizadas, encantador y amable equipo de Elwes y otros clientes también fueron amables y sin lavar?Ya reservado para la semana que viene. Gracias Becky y equipo. Volveremos a cenar una vez que estés despierto y abierto de nuevo, pero mientras tanto, ¡te veremos con regularidad! ! ??

Con la situación actual de bloqueo, tomar un asado dominical no es lo más fácil de hacer. Pero el Elwes Arms cerca de nosotros anunció que estaba preparando comida para llevar el domingo con opciones de cordero, ternera, pollo o jamón. Me puse en contacto con la amigable dueña, Beccy Webster, y reservé un par de comidas para mí y la otra mitad. Yo tenía la carne, ella el cordero. El tamaño de las porciones era abundante, como se puede ver en las imágenes incluidas. En general, quedamos muy satisfechos con la comida y lo haremos algo habitual.En cuanto a los requisitos de distanciamiento social, había un cartel en la puerta principal pidiendo a las personas que se separaran, también con horarios específicos sobre cuándo recoger el asado para llevar, no había otros clientes presentes. En el interior, hay demarcaciones claras en el piso, con el propietario y los ayudantes con guantes y desinfectante de manos.

Good variety of options for the carvery, meat was fantastic but unfortunately I didn't enjoy the vegetables as they were frozen and not fresh.

Disappointing was expecting food to be available but apparently this is not served if they have a private function

Beautiful midweek carvery for two adults and two children. Three tasty meats and plenty of vegetables available. The cauliflower cheese was devine! Super value... We'll be back!

Second time I'd been, today with 3 friends.. Carvery had good choice and price was very reasonable. The let down was the food was only warm so by the time you had only eaten half,it was cold.. Saw another couple I knew and they said the same. Very disappointing.

Absolutely amazing as usual, first time dining during the week and it did not disappoint. Friendly welcoming staff and hot tasty food. I would highly recommend to anyone as a mid week experience or a Sunday afternoon eatery.

Visitamos los brazos de Elwes con frecuencia, principalmente para el asado del domingo, que siempre es excelente. Ahora han comenzado a asar entre semana, de miércoles a sábado, lo cual es una gran idea y la comida es tan buena como el domingo y tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio.

Llevamos a mi madre mayor para un almuerzo de carnes, ella tenía una porción de niño y fue perfecta para ella. Teníamos comidas para adultos y estaban deliciosas. Había una buena selección de verduras, 3 carnes diferentes y budines de Yorkshire. También se incluye una selección de refrescos. Definitivamente vamos a volver.

The mid-week carvery at £4.95 is superb value, nicely cooked and cheaper than cooking at home (well nearly, but at least there's no washing up to do!) The welcome and service was very friendly too, we will definitely be back.

Had a walk to carlton & called in the Elwes Arms for my dinner the staff were vary helpful & polilte & Hostiplble the food was vary nice the place was clean will go again.

We met some friends who live in Carlton and we called at the Elwes Arms (we have been quite a few times now) for a spot of lunch and again they did not disappoint. The food and service were very good, the locals friendly and the landlady was very helpful, stopping my youngest eating his mummy’s roast beef and Yorkshire pudding lunch before his lunch came. It’s a pity we don’t have something similar where we live.
