This is a great looking pub in a lovely village has great views and is Sun trap in the evening. I tried this place last year but was put off by an awful pint of Wainwright, the fact the Landlord was carrying baby around all night and they weren’t serving food. But wanting to like it I thought I’d try it again - sadly it looks like it has gotten worse. Walked in and the place was dead, ordered a pint of Ale (which was OK) and got chatting to a local sat at the bar. I asked why it was so quiet and he told me that a large % of the locals have been upset by the management so don’t go in anymore. They go to the newly opened pub down the road. Such a shame it could be amazing place with the right management with some good beer, a good menu and didn’t have staff smoking by the entrance. I quickly drank up and thought I’d join the locals at the pub down the road.

Ate here before and enjoyed the food and they had a reasonable priced 4 Course Christmas Day meal so we took the chance and booked it. It was a disappointment I am afraid to say. From the first course which two of chose the soufflé which wasn’t the best presented and it look like it was brought and reheated , the duck was of the smallest duck in the known world lol but was at least the best course , the dessert was a apple and pear tart another let down just seemed like everything was brought rather than freshly made and the service was the worst. Really long waits between course with very unattentive service . We ordered a rose wine the chap came eventually with a glass of red wine we explained we ordered rose his reply was “I’ve been sent with this”.The last course of coffee and mints didn’t materialise so we had to ask about that and when the coffee turned up there were no mints and when asked the reply was what mints I will have ask about that. Very poor experience for all of us especially as it was our first time to out on Christmas Day.

My wife ordered the vegetarian wellington and I had the meat and potato pie. Well when it arrived I was genuinely surprised at the size and how good it looked and it tasted great. We decided to visit the Robin Hood on spurr of the moment after visitin Floralands who were serving food but not Sunday lunch. We'd eaten at the Robin before but it was at least a year ago. It seemed to habe had a slight makeover inside so it may have changed hands since then but we received a polite welcome and we were pleased to find the Sunday menu was a few quid cheaper than others we'd Google'd. The kids options on dinner were really good, you can have a small portion of Sunday roast or for mu h younger ones like ours yoi can choose Saus,Mash & veg off the kids menu with gravy and pudding and drink included. So good value. The adults also came with trimmings that would be extra side orders at other pubs which liked, however some may prefer a larger portion of the meat and veg than an extra trimming like Cauliflower cheese and our Yorkshires were a bit flat and anemic. Apart from this tho we were actually pleased with the meal and portion size as sometimes you get far too much. It was also cooked very well, the waitress was polite and prompt and we could fit in some desert too! A new menu was released too which looks nice. And for those looking for a pool table they have one on the main bar area which is becoming a rarity in pubs these days. We will return soon.

We walked in and then waited over 10 minutes at the counter to be served with nobody behind the bar. No hello, no apology when the bar maid finally appeared looking miserable. Just 2 cask ales on. The barmaid then had to replace the barrel for the Wainright's which had gone. She came back, tried to draw it through, gave up and just said "we've got Mansfield and John Smiths". That was it, no apology, nothing. We just left and we'll never go back. Went up the road to the recently refurbished Lambley Kitchen and the contrast couldn't have been greater - lovely welcome, great beer and a damn sight cleaner than the RH&LJ.; Food looked good too. No contest.

This is the first time we have tried the food in the Robin since the previous landlord left. We were warmly greeted by the new landlady who is very friendly and her staff were all very pleasant. The food itself is the same as it has always been. It is the pre-made variety I suspect. The currys sauces were actually very nice and had the right amount of spice and flavours expected for the dishes we chose, however the chicken was slightly overdone in the microwave and tougher than one would like. For an inexpensive meal in pleasant surroundings it was a acceptable.

Nice little sun trap.I went into the bar to order our food and drinks and there was some guys in there watching the football as was the landlord. I think he was the landlord. Nice friendly smiley chappy behind the bar with glasses on and his assistant was a lovely girl too. We ordered a sandwich and the flatbread both with chips. The food arrived and it was really nice. My only criticism was we only had about 10 chips on each of our plates. Probably our fault as I think this is the way they do it there as a garnish. Had we have known, we would of ordered a side order of chips but no biggy really. We will definitely go back at some point.Visited the ladies before we left and they were very clean which Is always good. Thanks folksClaire and Mark

We are local to the village and family members have been to the Steak Night on a Monday for three consecutive weeks now. We are all in agreement that the food, and the company are excellent. The two for one steaks are fabulous value, and the landlord and landlady (who is also the chef) can't do enough for you. They even put my son in law's food under the hotplate for us when he was delayed - not at our request, but because they had noticed that he was absent. The steaks were extremely tender and cooked to our liking. The pub has had a difficult few years with many changes and the current team have worked hard over the past 12 months to breathe life back into the pub - and they are doing admirably.

Passing through Lambley with the dog in the car, noted the dogs, walkers etc welcome sign. Turned round in The Village pub car park and went back. It's a Marstons pub with real ales on draught. Couldn't have been made more welcome - including treats for the dog! Current landlord been in for exactly 12 months. It's not a gastro pub; nice, well presented and well priced pub grub. Very nice comfortable restaurant, though we went in the bar area. Darts board and stone floors help if you have a muddy dog or feet! Wife had chicken and I had gammon - brought to table by chef who I assume to be the landlady. Agree with James M.

My husband and I called in for an evening meal mid week. The menu has not changed really since the new owners took over in October. We sat in the dining area and it was relatively quiet. The owners seemed friendly as we arrived and it is the same set up in that you find a table then order your food from the bar. Our food was served up piping hot and served as we had requested it. We both enjoyed what we had and felt that it was reasonable value for money. The rump steak was tender and juicy and the lasagne was of good quality and very tasty. The food is standard pub grub, no frills, filling and flavoursome. It’s not the best I’ve ever had and I suspect not homemade but it is cooked well and to the Marston’s business model standard. The only thing I will reproach the pub for is the annoying “musac” playing in the background, which was not by the original artists and some of it was Christmas songs!

We have been to the Robin Hood on a few occasions, our latest one was for a birthday and there was a party of 8 of us. The staff were very attentive; they quickly served us for drinks and food and gave us time to decide without rushing us. The food was of a high standard (as it has been every time) and the menu has a wide selection which is reasonably prices with a variety of offers available throughout the week. The staff are always very kind and the owners are lovely in their manner and always come and have a friendly chat. I would reccomend this restaurant.

So disappointed. Dreadful unfriendly service. Chairs were wet and we weren't allowed to use their cushions. The front of shop waitress came out to tell us that she couldn't take our order outside. Wo
