As a local I would love this chip shop to be good, but after several visits- each time excusing the over cooked fish as just a rogue night - I have vowed never to return. The haddock tonight tasted as if it had been cooked a week ago, and the chips were cold and soggy. Such a shame, and not cheap. Please try harder!

Not been here before but the service was excellent. The owner was chatting to me whilst I waited for my fish to be fried. Very tasty ,great vfm. Well done 👍👍

Muy rara vez tenemos pescado y papas fritas, pero hoy, después de un día muy ocupado, decidimos morder pescado, papas fritas y guisantes.Cuando llegamos a casa y los pusimos en el plato, se veían encantadores, las patatas fritas eran deliciosas, los guisantes eran muy agradables y luego las picaduras de pescado, que decepcionante. BJ's fish & chip bar serves fresh fish and chips. The portions are generous and very reasonably priced. Fish is cooked to order and they even do baked fish for those wanting something a bit lighter. Very lucky to have it so close to us.

I had fish which was a good size and beautifully cooked. However, the batter was soggy, stodgy and oozed fat when cut. I didn't have chips so can't comment. The mushy peas were satisfactory. I particularly loved the wrapping and packaging, apart from the polystyrene container for the peas, it was all paper. Thumbs up for thinking of the environment. Maybe paper containers for the peas too?

We had our French family staying with us and they love to have British fish and & chips and they weren't disappointed. The fish was amazing that night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Since new management we just can't stay away. My partner loves the fish, telling me it is absolutely beautiful whereas I favour the halloumi - so tasty and that amazing combination of crispy and soft. Lovely chips too, and generous portions.

Just had to post a review of the great fish and chips I just had at our local chip shop which had recently changed hands and is owned and run by Nikki. The place is so friendly now with very efficient and welcoming staff. The haddock was lovely and thick with a great tasty batter. Well done Nikki and good luck. I'm sure this will be a roaring success.

Popped in twice now since the reopening and I have to say it's a massive improvement....unrecognisable actually. Great cooking on the fish and the chips were fantastic. Great job guys keep it up!

Called in this evening for supper and i have to say the service is excellent the food is way better than before portion sizes seem to be bigger and prices are almost identical kebab meat was moist and succulent with plenty of flavor chips were good too i would highly recomend calling in

Super fish and chips, always fresh, batter is great too. Reasonable prices, great size portions. The salads are great, good for lunch times. Been going here years and never had a bad meal. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We go regularly every week - meals are always well cooked.Staff are very friendly, especially the lady behind the counter who always knows our order and asks if we want our usual as soon as we walk in. Fish fried fresh as you wait. Highly recommend!

We have fish and chips nearly every month from here and never had a bad meal, it's not the best fish and chip shop in the world but certainly the best for miles around

really sorry to say,after being recommended this fish and chip shop by friends, I was disappointed with their fare. Maybe it was an off day,but when I arrived home with my fish and chips which was a short drive away, I found the chips were just lukewarm,and the batter had gone soggy on the fish.

We occasionally visit this little chippy in our village and always enjoy the food but the portions just seem to get smaller in the evenings. On the rare occasion we have had a lunchtime visit we have had one of the specials which is excellent value for money in comparison to the evening bill of fayre. Worth a visit nice people serving and nice food.

We get the urge for 'chip-shop' chips every 3 or 4 weeks maybe less. The portions have diminished a lot recently, but the quality is usually quite good. The fish is nice and chunky, and depending on how big the queue is depends on the size of portions.

We do a chip shop run every friday from work good food and quick Staff very good will tell you if its cheaper on a offer we won't go anywhere else

Very poor. I have recently moved to the village and thought I would support the local chippy. I tried it three times to give it the benefit of the doubt and it was poor every time. The chips are brown because they are reheated chips from a previous session. They are greasy and the portions are not generous. I tried a chicken kebab on my third visit, at £4 odd it was poor value and chewy. I was afforded one pincer of chicken meat in a large pitta and was given brown salad. I will not be going there again.

but when it's not, it's average. On a good day probably the best in the area but not consistent. Everything seems to be cooked to order now so there is usually a wait, however that's when it's best. Portions have got smaller and prices bigger!

Called into this Chip shop today for a few snack type meals, we had a few bits and bob's and ALL were very good!! (Wish I had tried the fish now)Not very often to you get BROWN chips these days, as they all seem to look pasty and undercooked in my eyes, but these were REALLY LOVELY, golden brown!!The staff Customer Service was a lot to be desired though, as a previous reviewer mentioned but we were served quick quickly anyway.Maybe will call again and try the full Fish & Chips next time :)

No doubt the food is excellent and the portions are generous, however the staff (mostly young & female) are surly, rude and abrupt. If there was another F&C shop we wouldn't use this one.

Excellent fish & chips, but if you want anything other than chips phone ahead!!! This chippy does excellent fish and chips, but rarely has any fish ready. I understand they don't want to waste it but honestly on a Friday evening it should be cooked ahead. We always phone ahead now or go the chippy in Carlton. Standing waiting 10 mins in a take-away is not my idea of fun.
