I Went in yesterday with my friends we all had the Special menu a tad pricey but really great food & great service the chef even popped out to hear our opinion of his food The place looked great& more importantly warm & a roaring fire in the bar area Will definitely be returning hopefully quite soon as really want to try a few of the guest Ales on my return

Great meal tonight! Came out for a family meal and the staff couldn’t have done anything more to make our experience great - shout out to Matty! Dog friendly; they even did a sausage for our dog! Food was presented well, was warm and tasted lovely. Will definitely be back!

Had fallen out of love with this place in the past year but today had a lovely experience the food was delicious and Jo our waitress was so lovely she made the whole visit special - will put it back on our list of regular place to eat - thanks Jo 🥰

visited this pub on a busy day, and while it was lively, the staff truly made the experience stand out. They go above and beyond to provide excellent service, even during peak times. We brought our dog along, and they took the time to say hello and make our furry friend feel welcome, which we really appreciated. A big thanks to Matty, Ashley, Zoe, and Terry for their fantastic efforts—you’re all amazing! Highly recommend this place for the warm, friendly atmosphere and great staff.

It's a nice dog-friendly pub and the food was pretty good. Bacon and cheese burger and the cheesecake sundae was excellent but the bakewell tart wasn't great as it was underdone. The veggie burger was okay but quite dry. Unfortunately service was lacking as there was a long wait for second drinks and dessert due to an issue with their system so had to get up and ask where these were after waiting so long, however they were very good to only charge us for the main and first drinks so can't complain too much. If we come again, hopefully next time will be a better experience.

Had meal here with seven others. Excellent service..and I do not say this lightly..and the meal was excellent. Can recommend the Camembert as a shared starter

Popped in after having Fish & chips at the Chippy so glad I did quite a decent selection of cask & one of my favourites Jaipur The fire was on & roaring the music was a great blend of easy listening and 80'S much too my delight overall a great couple of pints to while away an hour whilst waiting for wifey to get back from whatever women do

Tasty Sunday roast with all the trimmings by a roaring fire! Perfect end to a freezing cold week. Lovely service and nothing was too much trouble.

Had a nice Sunday lunch not as good as previous visits a couple of items missing of lunch ie carrot and swede mash also sausage meat stuffing when asked by staff if meal was OK mentioned the missing items to be told that's what you get when having turkey oom not according to the menu .not a very good answer to a customer request.

Visited 3rd January for daughters birthday meal, food was delicious, hot, not kept waiting too long depsite it being so busy, and received fabulous service from Matty who looked after us! Thank you wheatsheaf and your wonderful friendly team 5⭐️ from us!!!!

Had a great Christmas day dinner at The Wheatsheaf. Everyone was very friendly and we felt very welcome there. The food was very well presented and most importantly it was delicious!! Popped into this pub on the off chance after going to the QMC Walked in to greeted by the bar staff asked for a cask ale and was offered a few alternatives according to what I liked which is always a good sign settled on the Timothy Taylors as normally excellent. This was superb I then nestled down in a seat by a fire had a lovely hour in there service is great & so are there beers I will be returning even had a chat with the Manager Zoe

Lovely atmosphere, nice food and good assortment of drinks, big car park, right in the middle of the village.

A little pricey but pleasant. My companion found the hunter's chicken had rather salty bacon.

Popped in for a drink. Busy and noisy (but that's expected on a Friday evening).

well where to start ,,, we have been a few times ad was "our spot" well tonight i went bad. some menu items unavailable due to staff shortages or zero stock which we were tols about after selecting the items, sarter was ok them my meal arrived with thinggs undercooked so it was sent back then arrived burnt , even though i asked fot it all to be fresh. i returned it to the bar and some lout of a barman told me it was my problem because when i initially complained i upset someone for not just puttinmng up with a bad meal. rude unatentive staff we go there a lot or ddid , wont go again. my partner felt bad as i hadnt eatena real shambles tbh . staff really rude and inconsiderate. shame but its vote with our feet , less corperate messag2e and more attention to detai ruined our night thanks a lot. i shall go down in the week and sppeak to the usual manager . organ grinder and monkey springs to mind ,,, and one bar man is surly bordering on aggressive so hardlt a trans friendly atmosphere trans/homophobic springs too mind a really bad experience which thet 4tried to blame us for. i cant give a negative ratiing but hapily would .

Just had a beautiful Sunday trio, the food was fantastic. My friend also ate the Sunday rib of beef and she said it was to die for. We will be back next week so thankyou to the chefs for my great food today.

Nice pub atmosphere helpful and friendly staff. I had the burger it was nice not a lot of taste with pale looking chips and 2 similar looking onion rings, Trio of puddings the dome shaped roly poly was hard and the custard was tepid with skin on it,

Came here for lunch today, Food was lovely, warm atmosphere, Zoe was amazing, very friendly and attentive without being over bearing. Will definitely be back.

Have just returned home from Sunday lunch at the Wheatsheaf Urton joyce nottingham. We have eaten there many times and been quite happy with all aspects. Today's experience was poor and took just 2 hours for one course. The staff throughout were curtious although a little distracted. The food was good apart from the greens (cabbage and leek) which were very undercooked. They actually squeaked as you ate them as they would if raw, crackling was missing but arrived when requested and the pork was dry. Speed of service was the big issue. It took approx an hour to receive our main course (we did not order starters). We received the puddings list and were going to order puddings but when 1/2 an hour passed and no one came to take our order we gave up, paid the bill and left. Observations of other diner's tables indicated that the speed of service was similar elsewhere. We are hoping this is an isolated experience and not a sign of things to come.

The service was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. My wife has allergies and couldn't fault Curtis for helping us with the menu. Definitely be back for another visit.

Went there again with my family lovely pub, Food was good & great value for money & you couldn't fault the staff. Zoe & Tracey were amazingly brilliant!

Me and my mate went for food and a catch up, as we haven't seen each other properly for a few months. We both had the lamb shank shepherds pie for main. It was so filling that i couldn't finish mine, but also wanted to save room for pudding 😉. We then had the salted caramel sundae for dessert. Both dishes were lovely. The service was great. Staff were really friendly and we didn't feel rushed to pay the bill and leave. We were actually there for around 4 hours chatting away, with the staff leaving us to it and only popping over a couple of times to check if we wanted anymore drinks. Overall a lovely evening and will definitely be going back again.

We dropped in for breakfast but missed it by 10 minutes so had a coffee and waited for the Sunday lunch menu to start, the waitress was very accommodating and sat us at a lovely table with our dog. Another member of staff brought some water over for our dog too which was really kind. The Sunday lunch was beautiful, we both had the 3 meat roast. Was staying for the weekend locally and if we are back in the area would definitely go back again for a meal, lovely little find from google search

What a cracking breakfast. Top quality ingredients and very tasty. Service was brilliant and friendly. This is my new favourite place for a full English breakfast.

We visited 4 other restaurants looking for food that appealed to my veggie mother before finding the Wheatsheaf and then were delighted to discover 3 options for her that sounded good, she finally selected the mushroom pie and i went for the belly pork, we were extremely happy with the quality of both dishes and even somehow found space for dessert, the apple tart was also perfect. The staff were lovely, Tracy was a great server attentive but not over powering. We will definitely recommend dining here to others! Big thank you.

We drop in there when passing two or three times a year. Food this time was variable, with tasty starters but main courses obviously kept warm from earlier in the day.

We went for Sunday dinner and I have to say, it’s the worst I have ever had. Having paid for the 3 roasts I expected a large meal . The meats were poor and small servings, the veg was mixed and soggy too. They forgot the stuffing and the Yorkshire could have been crushed to dust as it was overdone. For the price the meal was appalling, I will say the roast potatoes were good though.

Had a lovely weekend in Burton Joyce visiting friends. Walked the dog and found this lovely pub on our journey. Made us feel welcome and our dog too! Look forward to our next visit 😁

Such a lovely pub with outstanding pub classics and friendly atmosphere. Old pub with a modern vibe. I can’t express how amazing the food was at such a reasonably price and quirky menu. Dog friendly as well with a selection of crafted dog treats. Definitely worth a visit and a revisit with friends included. You won’t be disappointed.

Having had an excellent experience before we decided to go for dinner on a Friday night. Unfortunately this visit did not match up to our previous one. The food was slow despite the place looking fairly empty (I could be wrong though!), and when it did arrive it wasn’t the best. I had the chicken strips and they were so, so thin and extremely chewy, the croquettes tasted like oil over anything else, the smothered chicken was more bacon than chicken and tasted like the chicken was frozen and not fresh (although this was not confirmed), the sea bass was full of bones to the point it was virtually inedible, and the steak was cremated despite asking for it to be done medium - it’s such a shame because we’ve had great experiences before this! Considering the prices I expected much better quality of food. I’m sad to say I think this was our last visit unfortunately.

We booked for two courses for £16.50 Thursday 20 June. On entry to the pub we passed the top bar only to be shouted at CAN WE HELP YOU in a loud voice which was humiliating. Only two tables were occupied but the waitress who shouted made us wait some time until she found a table. Despite the meal not being up to standard our main concern was the attitude of the waitress Tracey. She was provocative and seemed to enjoy creating issues. As we sat down we overheard a dispute on another table regarding an overpayment which finished with a remark from a customer "we will come back but on your night off". My wife ordered the only chicken dish on the menu but Tracey snapped which chicken dish - there was a vegetarian dish with an option of chicken for an extra £3.00. When we were presented with the bill she had charged us full price for the two courses instead of the agreed offer. When we pointed this out she snatched the bill away and returned stating "I didn't press the button" NO APOLOGY. We left feeling badly treated, unwanted and definitely not welcome due to her attitude. The food was mediocre but Tracey brings the Wheatsheaf into disrepute. We booked this meal on the basis of our last visit when the food and customer service - different waiters - was faultless. Will we be returning???

The service.. absolutely disgraced, me and my partner went here for tea on a Saturday and the man who gave us or table was very rude, at first he didn’t even want to give us a table, then when he did we were not offered drinks until a young waitress who was very nervous came over and sorted our drinks and food (she was lovely). A family were then sat down on the table next to us by the same rude man who seated us, except they were offered drinks, a jug of water, they all had a great laugh and chat. I believe this was because the family were much more upper class. I am not happy with the service from this man AT ALL. Will not be returning.

Arrived Saturday night with a booking and had a fantastic experience. Sam, the waiter, was very attentive and looked after us all evening. The salmon on the specials was a tasty dish. We will be returning next time we are in the area
