Hank's Pub & Food in Ipswich

I love this place! Me and my sister go, order enough for 4 people and pig out. The man who works there is so charming and friendly.

The food was delicious. Hank's is a 100% vegan restaurant that basically does a vegan version of a lot of normally non vegan foods. I had a maple bacon shake, mostly cus it sounded weird, but it was really good.

Absolutely cracking food! Food full of flavour and loved how juicy and delicious everything was. Gone are the days of vegan food meaning a dry nut roast and a cheese-less ploughman's now that Dirty Hanks is in town!! Two meat eaters and a vegetarian were very impressed. Also nice selection of games to play and a real chilled pub atmosphere. Staff were also great 👍👍

This is a convenient venue to visit before attending the Regent Theatre (5 minutes walk) and has a public car park immediately behind it, which is free in the evenings. Our mid-week, early evening visit found the place almost empty. It was once a large pub and the decor hasn't changed, so basic stuff, but not necessarily a problem. The staff were polite and helpful, and the menu offers a wide range of pseudo-meat dishes, so it transpires to be a meat-free burger-bar. Our food was a little slow, and when it arrived, we were disappointed to find mini-laundry-baskets instead of plates, and basic food under a variety of dressings etc. To be fair, the food was OK in every respect - but no more than that, and at about £16 each (plus drinks) it was a little over-priced. Overall, it was all just OK.

GET THERE NOW. This place deserves to be Ipswich's best diner. Delicious food, super friendly service and great value. We're looking forward to quickly working through the tempting menu and checking out the Sunday Roast.

Fantastic food, had the Sunday roast, and it was delicious. Sticky toffee Pudding for afters was also excellent, too. Great atmosphere, and the service was great, too. It was really friendly and welcoming. Will be back for sure.

Lovely little place, was a little chilly as the weather had changed. A little heating would have been fab. All the dishes we have tried have been great so far.

Hank's Dirty is presumably named after the toilets. Disgustingly untidy and filthy. Food was OK but one wonders about kitchen cleanliness.

The place stinks of dirty kitchen grease! The type that comes from dirty mops. It has a cramped awkward seating area and so called 'inclusive toilets' that allow drunk male born wierdos to enter on young girls! The toilets had no paper hand towels either. The menu is severely overpriced but it's a niche vegan pub, that milks it patrons with fiflthy food. And Oh, did I say the place stinks :-(

The service was absolutely lovely. We arrived soon after the restaurant opened and the waiter was so welcoming and accommodating. The food came really quickly and tasted delicious. The gentleman working the opening shift on Tuesday 20th, you were a sweetheart!

Amazing food and lovely staff, going to be visiting again soon to try the rest of the extensive menu on offer. Mixed kebab was mine, partner got the crispy chicken fillet and we shared the cheesy chips, both of which were gluten free and prepared suitable for coeliac, which we were reassured by.

So glad this stayed open. I always bring friends and family here and the food has always been incredible. Whilst I personally do eat meat , the chicken dishes here are perhaps the most delicious in all of Ipswich. Also excellent customer service! Phone call from Jake this evening with an apology for a missed item. Incredible service, will return time and time again.

So happy Hanks was saved from closure, easily the most extensive all-vegan and gluten free option menu in Ipswich, maybe even the whole of Suffolk and beyond? Their commitment to Gluten free options is really, really impressive - almost everything is has a gluten free variant so buns, burgers, batter, etc can all be made gluten free and you cannot taste the difference. Words don't do it justice. Food is great, staff are really friendly, there's live music sometimes, a bar with lots of drinks including cocktails and alcohol free cocktails, quiz nights, meetups, I think I saw some board games too at the back. Actually surprised it was do empty when we went, really hope people are giving this place some love and ordering from the delivery app too. Definitely will be going many more times in the future. Would highly recommend the Rodeo burger and banoffee milkshake! The food is on the more expensive side but honestly I believe it's worth paying these prices if it means supporting an independent business that provides the best vegan and gluten free options around. You won't find this kind of stuff in a chain restaurant. Thanks Hanks team:)

Me and my partner regularly order from hanks and today we decided to go in to the ipswich location. Our server Jake was an absolute delight. Took us through the menu and told us all about the themed nights which we are now very interested in! I hope Jake is there on our the future visits and Hanks is incredibly lucky to have him as a server. The food is 10/10 and the outside patio which was recently renovated looks beautiful.

As a non vegan i came to see some live music. Which is part of the set up that hanks encourage . Well the food was amazing from start to finish. It is also a proper pub with great selection of beers and aspall cider on tap. Staff and service top notch too I will be back 💥💥

Hank's Dirty 100% Vegan is a chain which serves vegan food, specialising in comfort dishes and desserts. I usually prefer more refined food but I have never eaten such a large portion of food with ease. I was served by Callum who was very friendly and helpful. I asked him what to try and we settled for a portion of ribs and a mixed kebab. The ribs were fantastic, by far the best I have tried since becoming vegan. The sticky barbecue sauce was also brilliant. The mixed kebab was huge and the fresh salad went perfectly with the doner meat and chicken. The doner was particularly convincing and super delicious, even the flatbread it was served on was fluffy and fresh. I wish I had more room after my food to try some of the desserts! But I will have to come back as soon as I can to try it out again. Overall the food is fantastic and the service was great, would recommend this restaurant to anyone 😊

I haven't been back since they combined the takeaway and the pub, it's the best it's ever been. Delicious vegan food, lots of options, and lovely staff. It's nice not to have to check the ingredients of everything and to eat good vegan food. Would definitely recommend, especially their loaded mac and cheese which is ridiculously good.

We booked Hanks Dirty last week, 2 adults and 2 kids, we filled our faces until we could fill no more and even bought the mac & cheese home that we couldn't squeeze into our bulging bellies. The new milkshakes are delicious, the burgers were lovely, the nachos were spot on and the mac and cheese options are things of beauty. Food quality was excellent, service was top notch, great atmosphere, and value for money. Thanks to Geoff and his team for a great meal!

Had lunch here today. Food was incredible. Friendly attentive staff. 100% will be returning. Up there with the best vegan food I've had.

Used to love this place, but over time the prices went up and the food quality went down. Gave the place a try again recently with my partner as it had been a couple years, but despite being the only people in the pub our food took about 50 minutes to arrive as the kitchen seemed to be prioritising takeaways. When our food finally arrived my chicken burger was mostly batter with only a thin slice of chicken in it, and some of our food was cooler than the rest. £10 for a batter burger is just not worth it, especially as my partner paid £2.50 more for a different dish that was nearly twice the size. Our server was very kind and apologetic though, and gave us our drinks and some tater tots free of charge. Honestly, two stars feels a bit generous but I really did used to have a fondness for this place.

I've been to Hank's a few times now. The food is good and well priced, the service is friendly and prompt and the atmosphere is relaxed. Elora who is front of house has served me every time and she is a credit to the pub.

Hanks is an amazing little empire around East Anglia offering great tasting vegan food and drink. The Hanks dirty sites are really tasty takeaway fast food, and the pub offers takeaway for Ipswich as well as the social sit-down dining experience. It's not only lovely being able to go somewhere where you can pick anything on the menu, but you can be sure that it's going to be excellent quality. My personal favourites are the kebab, chicken tenders, and 'ghost malone' chips, but everything we've ever tried there is really nice. They also do pub quizzes every couple of weeks.

I visited Hanks (Ipswich branch) with my best friend on 16/12/23. I highly recommend this place for people who like a chill and viby atmosphere. Not only was the vibe 10/10 but, so was the customer service. The food was amazing I ordered the Fillet No fish with chips and it was lush! My friend enjoyed her vegan chicken and waffle meal. Cannot wait to go back again!!

I don't think there's anything else in Ipswich that can match Hanks in terms of offering vegan options. I mean it's all vegan, you just can't get any better than that! The menu is absolutely stacked too, I don't think I'll ever get to try everything (but I'll have a go). Unfortunately the place is usually really quiet when I go. It's great for me as I hate crowds, but I really do hope people show their support for places like this. We've waited a long time for decent vegan options in the area and now we've finally got our own space. Definitely recommend their other locations in Colchester and Felixstowe too. Show em some love!

I had a a Ratatouille moment eating the buffalo burger. The chicken and ribs I have had as a vegan have always aired on caution and tried to be breaded healthy and baked. These were crispy charred coated in sauce and bread crumb it reminded me of the chicken shops after a pub as a teen a thing I haven't even realised I was missing. It was gluten free, wasn't too heavy. Loved it Elora was a lovely very attentive extremely funny server

Another visit to Hank's. It's difficult for me to say as a long term fan but it was not up to the usual standards. The food (when it came) was brilliant, right up to normal standard. But the wait (1 hour from entering to eating) was a real shame. We'd ordered drinks but my beer tasted like it had been sat in the pipe for a day or 2. The restaurant smelt a bit like my beer. A bit stale and not up to scratch. It all needed a bit of love.

Hank's is a must visit if you come to Ipswich! I've been numerous times I've lost count, but most recently visited to try the Autumn Taster Menu! And my word, it did not disappoint. I had a lovely three course meal and each dish was beautifully presented and tasted unbelievable! On the evening we went we were looked after by the amazing Elora. She was fantastic, friendly, welcoming and attentive. Could not fault the service or the amazing food! Can't wait to go back.

We came here with the kids and the food was amazing! Extensive vegan menu including kids menu and all of it was delicious and extremely generous portions! We had the Hanks burger, diner kebab and the kids had nuggets and a cheese burger. A very welcoming and friendly place and it was nice to sit in the garden in the sun. Highly recommend coming here!

I love coming to Hanks Ipswich especially the quiz night which is every other Wednesday. The food is so good, the staff are great, and it’s really nice vibes.

This spot is great for a casual lunch or dinner. I've been many times with different friends and family and they all love it. They've done BBQ nights, Asian nights, pub nights, and more. Their burgers are fantastic. I'm not vegan but I love them. There's nothing better than their bbq bacon burger, or their jackfruit burger, fries, biscoff brownie bomb, ice cream, and a root beer. They do take out and dine in. They do now have a place in Felixstowe and Colchester which is good for them. The pub in Ipswich is very old fashioned and stripped back, it's not particularly grand but it's chilled. The team is very nice and the food is always very good and reasonably priced. Even if you're not vegan just give this a go because it is very good!

Such a shame they have let this place go. Food was Ok but OMG what a shame the garden is a disgrace! We were here on a Saturday night and it was empty.. a sad, tired and neglected space to eat.

Not good at all I’m afraid. Severely overpriced, horrible food. I don’t waste food, ever, so I ate it, Begrudgingly, as I had spent so much money on it….but I was grimacing the whole time. I ordered off of just eat and the Korean beef chips (£10.50) looked great however that’s where it ended. The “beef” was a disgusting texture and flavour. Both sauces were pungent with vinegar the actual chips were okay after trying to scrape the sauce off, but no different from the ones you’d get from the kebab for a 5th of the price! The donut burger (£12.00) was tiny, flat and sad looking. Gherkins, burger sauce, the lowest quality, flattest fake chicken burger that tasted like wet cardboard squished into a soggy sad small doughnut. These flavours do not go! I like weird flavour combinations which is why I ordered it in the first place…but this was just foul. I never want to be unjustifiable harsh to food businesses but I felt completely utterly ripped off for spending £25 on food I would have wanted to just chuck away after the first bite. This was my first time ordering, I don’t know if it was ever a good place to eat…but based on my experience and the price of the food. I would say this place is greedily mugging people off. I would have rather had McDonald’s and that’s difficult for me to say! I highly DO NOT recommend. Spend your money on something else.

Have sat in Hank’s and ordered takeaway and have to say amazing food and service each time Generous portion sizes and a fair prices over the menu I’m a long term vegan and haven’t met another chain with as much choice and consistency across the menu: absolute must if you’re in the area or delivery range

Stayed in Ipswich and used twice - sat in once and had delivered to the hotel day after. I’m a meat eater, my partner is a Vegan - I honestly could not tell. I had the best kebab I’ve ever had from there, without the dirty, greasy feeling of a full meat kebab that I’m used to! Would highly recommend and will be returning when I’m back in Ipswich!

I was surprised to find this place deserted on a Saturday evening. A mixed experience overall but would be happy to go back to try on another day. Some of the dishes were fantastic, with the loaded tater tots being a highlight. A great mix of flavours and incredibly moreish. The burger was also satisfying and did a great emulation of a fast food experience. The hot dog was a let down, however, with a stale bun and fairly bland kimchi. The menu had many interesting options to chose from. The service was not good. The sound system was left blaring static for about 10 minutes while the staff disappeared. When they came back to fix it there was no apology or acknowledgement that it had made an unpleasant end to the meal. As the only customer in the restaurant I would expect better than that. I am happy to support a vegan restaurant and hope my experience is not representative of the general experience so would still be happy to return.

Food is wonderful, visited a few times and food always enjoyable. Only let down is that the place is cashless.

Went in for Sunday lunch, having been in on several occasions when they used to offer it a while back, unfortunately we found it to be a little disappointing. We had three different meals and they were all ok, just not the old ‘home cooked’ and super tasty Hanks that we used to love - it all tasted a bit like it had come out of a freezer. Again the desserts were ok, just not home cooked. Just feel it’s a shame that it’s not the same place it used to be. Price was fairly average at £22.50 for two courses and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely fully vegan pub with lots of options. Went with non vegans and they ate it all so must have been happy with it! Friendly staff. Especially recommend the desserts.

4 1/2 is what I would rank Hanks Ipswich! Love hanks. Probably the best vegan joint around. What I would say is that the Colchester branch is my personal favourite as the portion sizes are better! I will go here and time and time again! Would recommend. It's a fun and guilt free way to enjoy amazing food that you really couldn't tell is vegan or not! Nothing healthy about this place!!! AND I LOVE IT!

Guys… what happened? You used to be so good. Ever since you merged with the pub and shut your other businesses down, the quality has just gone down hill and it’s so sad. I’ve eaten with you since the beginning, but I just don’t think I will anymore. Delivery is pretty much always late and the food is so inconsistent. The prices have shot up to a ridiculous point too, but the quality of ingredients has gone down massively. All the things I used to love are pretty grim these days. Also I notice that lots of branches are popping up in other towns, but maybe focus on the ones you already have instead first? The food just isn’t worth the cost anymore.
