Booked our lunchtime table as this pub is usually busy. It’s on the way to Bristol Airport so people tend to stop off here. Good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Food arrived very quickly and was hot and tasty. Staff were lovely and friendly. Good value and looking forward to returning. Thank you all.

Beautiful homecooked food worth every penny very reasonable bookings are advised as the place was packed. Would definitely go back again and advise anyone wanting to go book in advance

We booked a table in advance a while ago, to ensure we would be able to have a pre Christmas meal with our family and not be disappointed. There is always such a lovely atmosphere and the Staff make everyone feel so welcome, as soon as you step inside. The food here is the best, excellent quality, good size portions and affordable prices We had the most perfect evening 10/10.

We visited The Castle with my Sister and Brother in Law. The food was fantastic. We had prawn cocktail, spring rolls and squid to start. Then ham egg and chips, gammon egg pineapple and chips, scampi and chips and the Cajun chicken and chips. We were all too full to try the puds but sure they would be equally as good. It was all fantastic. Would really recommend this pub for its food, atmosphere and excellent service. Cannot wait to return. ,

Great teebone steak ,but phone ahead to book ,gets packed quickly,they now do a full menu on Sunday as well they do quite a nice menu plenty of choice

Second time eating here, it’s been a few years since our last visit…… it’s just as good if not better! The pub as a whole seems to have had a face lift but definitely hasn’t lost its character! Food is well priced, piping hot and absolutely delicious! Even had a cheeky pudding and it was divine 😋 Staff welcoming, friendly and very helpful.

Great place to stop for a bite to eat. Plenty of menu options and a lovely patio area when it's sunny! The bar does get very busy, so there is often a queue - part of this seems to be because the mobile reception isn't great which means card payments take while to go through. Worth a visit

Stopped here for food early on a Friday evening. Very very popular pub and we were lucky to have the one remaining table. Staff are really friendly and helpful - just like pubs used to be and should be! Lovely varied menu of home cooked food - we settled on the chicken curry. This was really tasty and came to the table nicely presented with popadoms, mango chutney and a salad. Fantastic value for under £10 and delicious! No space for a pudding so we will be back. Thoroughly recommend!

Stopped at this little gem for the first time and we ran out of superlatives! Affordably priced beer, the food was also amazing value - good ingredients, big portions and excellently cooked. The staff were fantastic too. We sat outside on their new patio which was beautiful, it over looks a fab pub garden with climbing frames, slides and swings. This will be great for us and our children. This is now our favourite pub!!

Good grub at decent prices, grea old school pub

This little country pub is a real gem. Booking is a must as it is always busy which speaks to the quality of the food which is fantastic! We booked on the day and when we arrived did not have a table available. They claimed they had never promised this and that they had suggested we come and see what was available. This would have been fine but they were really not clear and were then rude about it when we arrived. Shame the food quality does not have service to match but I would still definitely go back as our steaks were really good and the drinks were fairly priced.

A pub I’ve known since my youth. Better than ever

What an excellent pub, been here a few times now and the food is lovely, very good sized portions and tasty, served promptly and staff very pleasant, will definitely be back.

Fantastic pub lunch on a Monday lunch time. Called in on the off chance after a long morning walk round the mendips. The atmosphere is good and everywhere was very clean & well maintained despite the building being very old. Served quickly at the bar & did not have to wait long for our food. Piping hot, freshly cooked and well presented. Highly recommend the vegetable lasagne. All clean plates after. Good choice of food on the menu and a great selection of soft & alcoholic drinks. Really impressed again so shall be back - hopefully room for pud! Very friendly staff. Lucy was extremely accommodating, service checked us & had such a lovely smile every time she walked by - bar lady was also very friendly & welcoming too upon arrival.

Lovely location and outdoor patio. Shame it closes in the middle of the day when there are plenty of punters wanting to enjoy their menu. (Didn’t get to sample their food / kitchen shut during a daytime period.) Coffee was good.

We came on a Saturday with a large group, for my sons Birthday meal. We come every year whilst camping locally. The service is always the same greatness. The food is also always the same standard, which is absolutely incredible. It’s really delicious home cooked food, big portions and the price is excellent. Massive range of soft drinks, probably anything you ask for they would have! Also large selection of alcoholic drinks too. We preordered and were very impressed everything went perfectly. If you can visit on a sunny day then there is a gorgeous patio area with a massive childrens garden too.

Booked a large table today for Sunday lunch.. the food and service was brilliant but disappointed to find when we arrived that they didn’t serve a Sunday roast as advertised on the website. Would happily return for main menu but perhaps the website should be updated?

The children's play area and Patio is very good, the Beers are very good, food is good pub food. It's very popular, booking is essential.

My Dad loves this place so we stopped in for a snack at lunchtime on our way back from Wells market. He had a prawn baguette, which was very well filled and came with a nice salad, crisps and coleslaw. I ordered the quiche of the day (Brie and tomato), assuming that it would be a nice light lunch with salad. It came hot with chips and peas. It was INCREDIBLE. The pastry was buttery and the filling was delicious. Portion size is always generous. The service is quick and friendly. They were training two new bar staff so not as smooth as usual, but still fantastic.

Met up with 6 friends as this is a central point for us all, To be honest I was expecting just normal pub food, how wrong was I, we all had wonderful food and really enjoyed our evening, best steak I have had for a long time. Would definitely recommend a visit. We will be visiting again soon.

We got here just after 12 on a Saturday, on the way to a family gathering. We hadn't booked, and every table was reserved. Luckily the staff were great and said as long as you got out by 1pm, you could have this table. Everyone else who came in on spec were turned away. So obviously, you need to book tables on weekends. The menu looked okay, prices average. We had the special, pork loin in dijon mustard sauce, which was delicious. It came with chips, peas and a side salad. Since we were visiting the West Country, we had to try the local cider that was on tap. And it was proper cider. Would definitely come again, but next time we'll book.

I didnt actually eat here, but planned to go in and pay for a hot drink as I was very lost and distressed , Michelle the Landlady kindly helped me along with Rosanna and wouldn't take any money for the cup of tea I had, charged my phone up a bit and even let me use there landline to make a brief call to let my friend know I was OK. Brilliant staff and helpful , kind attitude to someone who was in need. We need more people in the world like these, bless you all for your help. Thank you so much.

Always a lovely experience, local pub/restaurant with amazingly high quality food (and lots of it!) Word of warning you should always book ahead as they do fill up bookings which I've found in the past! Enjoyed it so much we are back there next weekend for another person's birthday

The fact that you have to call 2 days in advance to get a table here tells you all you need to know (although don’t let that put you off they are very accommodating!). The food is excellent and the service is quality so. Well worth a visit!

Great place to eat a proper pub.

The outside of the Castle of Comfort is very well presented with a large car park and a children's play park , plenty of quality out door seating. The menu choice was limited but enough to satisfy most people , home style lasagne of a good standard as was the Hunters chicken the rump steak was not the best , all served with a very basic salad. One disappointment was when the meal was served nobody came back to check if everything was OK . No dijon or french mustard for the steaks , the home made pie sold out. Not a deal breaker but could have been a lot better. They get very busy so reserving a table is recommended.

An excellent family venue with a lovely outdoor seating area for a lot of people and a great play area for the children. My meal was spoiled by the fact that a couple on the neighboring table were smoking 🚬 all the time we were eating 😞 and I am a nonsmoker and found it very unpleasant.

Lovely place, good parking, excellent play area and outside dining. Disabled access. Inside pub is quite old fashioned, low ceilings, or very tall people, but is lovely. Staff are very friendly. Good selection on the menu, out of 4 meals all were good, I choose the Rump Steak, it was tough, did mention it to the Server, all she said was sorry about that, it would have been good if someone had checked halfway through the meal. Reasonably priced food and drink.

Nice country pub in a lovely location, have ate here many times over the years. We find it has a nice choice of drinks and food was tasty with big portions only issue was 2 in the party found the lamb chops to be more fat than meat. Will return again in future.

We went here Christmas week after some shopping. It was busy but they were able to seat a family of 7 ( luckily they had a cancellation!). The staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious! The whole place had a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere,plenty of parking and a lovely play area outside for children, which has been looked after and is safe. We will definitely return again, but will book in advance.

Best Rib eye steak I've had for a long time. Down side was although we where in a large group we felt crammed into the bar are and they where short staffed so took a while to get served at the bar

Nothing fancy about this place … just a great country pub doing a brilliant job. Welcoming and efficient staff, good choice of food at very reasonable prices. Eg: pavlova made with wonderful home-made meringue … I’ve been to several posh places where this has obviously come out of a packet. They certainly take a lot of trouble to make sure customers are happy. Will be back!

We both popped in for a coffee whilst on a drive to Priddy. The kind lady at the bar told us that all the tables were reserved, yet still she managed to find us a table for two. And the Irish coffee was perfect for an autumnal Tuesday. Thank you for your hospitality
