This is a lovely family run restaurant which serves beautifully presented, tasty food. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed our visit very much. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Another year another wife’s birthday. So this year I booked us into the Courtyard Restaurant and I’m so glad I did. A beautifully clean restaurant where the staff were brilliant and really welcoming. I started with the Moules marinière and then my wife had the Pork Medallions and I had the Sea Bass. To finish a white chocolate and raspberry roulade and a trio of cheesecakes. What can I say the food was delicious the service outstanding if you are in Wells and looking for a beautiful restaurant with an excellent Chef and wonderful staff, a special mention for Rita she was brilliant , look no further. An amazing little restaurant. Visited while staying locally for a long weekend 2 adults and 1 nine year old child visited the restaurant. Set menu and a la carte. We all picked from the set menu which we thought was exceptional value for money. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. 9 year old grandson loved hus pate and steak but also helped himself to a fair few of grandma's whitebait. Portions were great for a set menu and lovely to have such an array of vegetables with the main course. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

We loved this place! It’s not a chain and a family run business.The food was delicious and good quality. They didn’t have a kids menu but the waitress was so lovely and friendly and helped us adapt their menu to suit the kids. The kids really enjoyed the food as did we. We felt they went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely experience and we did! Definitely recommend this restaurant.

We reserve five stars for really exceptional food, but this place is truly four star, happy cheery service, beautifully presented, good quality fresh food and good value is all you need. Sadly it was a bit empty for a Saturday evening. Starters including chicken liver pâté and chicken and bacon paysanne (which was a bit light on the meaty bits). We both had a good basic sirloin with salad and tasty crisp chips, followed by desserts. Including a bottle of wine and gratuity, £105.

We popped in early on Saturday evening having not booked anywhere and being turned away from some other places. There was a super friendly member of staff who greeted us at the door and said we could pick our table. We were heartened to see some other tables with happy customers. The waitress brought us our menus and explained the set menu was available and it looked really good value. The other members of staff were friendly and welcoming to more customers and rearranged the furniture for a big family group, as well as being pleasant to each other, which I always think is a good sign. Our starters were enormous and really delicious and came quickly but were obviously cooked and prepared freshly. Our main meals were also quick, with a side of fresh vegetables. My husband said his steak was the best he’d had for a while. The bill was super reasonable. We really recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back.

Very friendly and accommodating. I had a huge T bone steak and our muscles starter were great. Good value all round and I would definitely revisit.

So glad I found this restaurant online and booked for the first night of our weekend in Wells. I'm a coeliac and it is so refreshing to go somewhere that doesn't make you feel like you're a nuisance. The majority of their menu is gluten free. I had the smoked salmon & prawn platter, my husband had the chicken liver pâté starter. We both had duck for mains then I had a delicious roulade for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The lady owner serving us was lovely, really friendly and welcoming. I mentioned when booking that it was our wedding anniversary so we arrived to rose petals on our table. What a thoughtful gesture, I was so thrilled.

What an excellent experience and this restaurant is a definite must for anyone who appreciates the very best of a dining experience. The choice of food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We were a group of 20 and the food arrived for all at the same time, and the vegetables just kept coming. The deserts were mainly homemade and totally delicious. As a gluten intolerant diner I was amazed to see that 85% of the choice was gf. Everyone who visits Wells should visit the Courtyard Restaurant.

Fabulous family run restaurant in the heart of Wells. Friendly staff and excellent produce cooked to perfection. As the name suggests it’s in a courtyard just off a Main Street with numerous other restaurants but well worth seeking out. You’ll not be disappointed!

This is an excellent restaurant in the Centre of Wells, very near the Cathedral. They accommodated my friends and I for Sunday lunch even though they were fully booked. It was my friends birthday and we were a party of 12. Everyone really enjoyed their lunch which was the best Sunday lunch I had had for a very long time. I am vegetarian and their nut roast was to die for. I would definately recommend booking this restaurant if you visit wells. I am going to next time I visit Wells. Also the decor was quaint too and all the staff were very helpful and happy.

This restaurant is ideally situated in the middle of Wells town. It has a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. The food is absolutely stunning, has to be one of the Best Sunday lunch with a great selection of freshly cooked vegetables. Also vegetarian options. The staff are friendly with superb service. Highly recommend a visit and will definitely be returning in the future.

A table of four, we all had different starters and different main courses. They were all excellent. The pork medallions were superb as was the sea bass and prawns dish. Generous portions of vegetables were included. Not everyone had room for puddings but the bread and butter pudding was excellent. The choice of wines is slightly limited but there us something available for everyone and a good range of non alcoholic drinks too. Our service was excellent being both efficient and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely eat there again the next time we visit Wells.

The Sunday Lunch at The Courtyard is delicious. The staff are attentive and the food is freshly prepared. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly for Sunday Lunch.

Tucked away literally in a courtyard, this is a lovely place to have a meal. Small, intimate with really friendly staff, lovely food and reasonably priced it's well worth a visit! We've already booked for our 'final night' meal here. Highly recommended.

Tucked away in a courtyard it would be easy to miss this restaurant. At first glance of the menu i thought there wasn’t anything I wanted. We chose the oriental chicken breast and the pork. Both were absolutely amazing; beautifully cooked succulent meat with well flavoured sauces. There was a plate of vegetables to share and we were told we could have more. There were at least five different vegetables and all cooked just right. There were also chips which were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We both had apple strudel after. Service was just right, efficient but friendly. This has to be one of the best restaurant meals we have had in a long time and not overly expensive either. Thank you for a great meal.

First time to this lovely restaurant to celebrate my girl friend's birthday. Just off the the beaten track, The Courtyard is well worth a visit! The staff were very friendly and the place has a relaxing ambiance. The background music was tasteful and relaxing and the service was quick and efficient. The food was very good. Excellent food at reasonable price. Would recommend this great restaurant! We will be back soon!

This is a hidden gem in Wells. The exterior is very unassuming up a small courtyard, as the name suggests. The inside is lovely - spacious, good decor and lots of tables. The menu is not enormous, but plenty on there to tickle my taste buds. Mrs Bald and I shared the salmon and prawn with warm roll starter. A great little offering to start the meal. Mrs Bald then had Sea Bass with prawns and seasonal vegetables and I had gammon steak with chips. The meals were first class. As Goldilocks would say "not too big or too small". We shared the chocolate honeycombe cheesecake to finish - another superb choice once again. Waitresses were both lovely - very busy, but on the ball all evening. I wish this restaurant was closer to home as it would be a firm favourite with both of us.

The receptionist at our hotel recommended this restaurant among others. We were both very hungry so decided to look here first due to its proximity. What a fabulous decision. The place itself is very pretty with little lights and lots of natural wood. The menu looked OK but not beautifully presented as it was a photocopied laminated sheet. BUT the food was absolutely delicious. That was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. We will be back!

We had a fabulous meal today, celebrating my dad's 80th birthday. There were 21 of us, and having pre-selected our meal choices, we were served in a timely manner, without being rushed. All of the team were very attentive, and couldn't have done anything more for us. Lots of communication in advance via email, and always a fast response to any email query.
